House McIntosh is spacious with enough room for a large group, however it is oddly built. The 20 steep, dark stairs to the upper level are definitely a safety risk. The balcony was also a concern, very narrow and vibrated especially in the corners when you walked on it. There are not enough braai facilities, so smoke moves into the house.

Elandsbaai is a very nice weekend destination. Located close to Cape Town. Quiet and peaceful West Coast town and not as many visitors as Southern Cape towns.

I love the location of the house and the fact that each room is almost on its own. Will definitely want to go again.

The layout of the house is interesting. Access to the lower 4 rooms is through outside sliding doors and access to the upper level is outside around the house to the front door or else through one of the rooms compromising the privacy of that room. From the front door to the top there are 21 style stairs - not good for older people or people with knee and hip problems. The house has 5 bedrooms and 2 beds in the living area which can accommodate a possibility of 10 or more people. However, the kitchen is not set up for that. The stove is too small and limited. The fridge/freezer is too small to put all the cold things in for 10 people. The previous tenants must have left fish or bait or something in the fridge, because the smell from the fridge was something terrible. All the food and especially the milk absorbed the smell and was unpleasant. In the kitchen there is also an old shower wall that claimed more than one person's toes. Suggest that the wall be removed before someone gets seriously hurt. If the kitchen's shortcomings can be sorted out (stove, fridge/shower wall) the house is very nicely located and we really enjoyed the weekend. Especially the coffee on the roof early in the morning!

Each room gives the guests the opportunity to break away from the group of guests. The children can enjoy the sea life among the rocks or play on the quiet beach. It was really a very nice experience and very helpful owner and reception staff.

It's a peaceful town and the accommodation is near the sea which ensures a peaceful night's rest.

Ideal for a few families that want to go on vacation together. Each room also has its own bathroom, which is very practical for a big group. There is also small kitchen's between the rooms, which makes it easier for a lot of people.

The house is comfortable and tidy. With minor modification, at least one bathroom can be made wheelchair friendly. There was no bread knife and steak knives. A bread pan would have been very handy.

Love the inside of the house. The house is just weirdly built. Otherwise very nice.

The kids had more than enough space. The house was spotless. Enjoyed a few relaxing days there. Will recommend it to all my friends and family.

Large house with sleeping space for up to 15 people. Value for money for more than one family / groups with many children. En-suite bathrooms throughout. Narrow 'wrap-around' balcony with sea view. Very long, steep stairs to the top. Living and cooking facilities are very basic. No cupboards in rooms or kitchen.

"This was a very strange house, every room was a bedroom, even the kitchen had a bed in it, so the house wasn't great, but the boys had a great time surfing."

The house is not ideal for a family, it seems more appropriate for room lets. There was no lounge for us to gather as a family and the kitchen was very poor, no counters on which to prep food and no cupboard space to unpack groceries. For the price we paid per night, I felt it was overpriced for what we got. There was only one wine glass in the whole place!

"Extremely Weak"

The accommodation had been extremely poor. The house was dirty when we got there and the pictures on the website do not show what it looks like there at all. There was a stove whose oven could not close. None of the grills were cleaned. We had to take extra meals because there was no necessary kitchen equipment such as a braai or grater. I think it was extremely bad and I would in no way recommend it to anyone. The porches around the house were dirty and not swept and there were dog feces on the porch. It was not value for money as we were a large group, but everything was shared. I was extremely disappointed with the place and would not recommend it. I will not go to Elands Bay again either.
