We had a wonderful weekend, but there were issues. 1. I booked the entire house but found out that the owner had booked another couple on the Saturday, which caused me a lot of stress. The owner stays in the house, which we did not know, and had offered her room to stay in. However, this is right by the entertainment area outside, and I was not happy with an elderly couple staying there when we are having a bridal shower and there will be noise. We asked her to rather put the couple in the back room where they could not hear the noise. Due to that, there were not enough beds for us. The owner offered us a blow-up mattress, which we had to agree on, or else someone had to sleep on the floor. If you book the entire house, that means we want the house to ourselves, not sharing with other people; that is what we paid for. 2. The owner said it is a guest house, and as far as I know, there are cleaners who clean up and make up beds in the morning. If it is a guest house, there were no cleaners on the Saturday. 3. When we arrived, the scullery and braai room were not clean. There was one cleaner, and for the size of the house, she should have more than one cleaner, and maybe these areas would have been cleaned. 4. It was extremely hot, and when we saw the pool, it was green. I had to get my husband to come and clean the pool, which helped as the pool was nice and blue after that. 5. I have never booked an entire house, and the owner is in the house from 6 in the morning till 5 in the afternoon. If she did not give up her (office), she would have been there 24/7. This was very uncomfortable for us as we had to walk past her all the time sitting in her office. To get to the pool area, you need to walk through her office. 6. We asked for a discount due to all the issues mentioned, but she refused.
The beach is 5 minutes away and my room had a view of a beautiful mountain. The room was very clean, and the bathroom had clean shampoo and body wash provided, along with clean towels. The kitchen is spacious and equipped with everything you need, and there is a sparkling blue pool with a huge garden. The host was helpful and ensured a pleasant stay. There is also fiber WiFi and a TV in my room with Netflix. I would definitely recommend this stay; I had so much fun exploring Hout Bay.

Nicky and Phillip were great hosts, even though they were on the property with us they were very respectful in giving us our space to be free in the house. Myself and my friends had the most amazing day/night and will definitely be heading back in the summer.

Nicky, our host, was always at hand to help us, she was also very accommodating and made us feel welcome. We had a large enough table to have meals at, braai, and washing facilities. There was a lovely garden and a pool to enjoy.
The quaint and beautiful setting of this establishment provided some much need self-care and relaxation. The hosts of the establishment are friendly and accommodating. Their interaction with us has surely left an impression so much so that we would love to return in the future to enjoy the large rooms, large dining space, pool and mountainous views. Quaint, serene and beautiful. A breath of fresh air.

Pleasant place to stay if you like animals. Hosts were friendly, the house cosy. If you don't mind sharing bathroom and kitchen with others this is really a nice place to stay.
The owner was very friendly, will definitely go there again. Sharing bathrooms is slightly uncomfortable because there is not a cleaner every day and all guests are not always tidy. Because loadshedding is a big problem in South Africa, the owner may make a plan to e.g. leaving the WiFi on, as well as some lights in the guest house itself.
Bad smell due to cats and dogs in the house, the cat on the furniture and kitchen cabinets.
The room looks really dirty, the bed looked unmade, linen wrinkled. No feeling of "warmth" or feeling like sleeping on the bed. If it wasn't that we had a late function and it would be far to drive back to Durbanville, we wouldn't have stayed the night. Parking a problem. Definitely not value for money. Would not recommend it at all.
Entire house stank of a horrible smell. Faeces on the toilet seat lid, pubic hair in the basin. Very noisy with screaming residents until 1 a.m. and then again from 6 a.m. House also stank of cigarette smoke at 6 am in the morning. People running upstairs on the wooden floor until 2 am in the morning. Couldn't get out of there soon enough. Absolutely appalling. Cannot believe that the place operates as a guest house. It's a hostel. I've stayed in backpackers that are better.
The room was neat and the hostess was friendly. WiFi and coffee/tea freely available. Very clean and comfortable. Felt safe and slept well.
Nicky is such an amazing host, we really enjoyed our stay and mos definitely going back next year. Excellent service.
