We enjoyed our stay at Houw Hoek Hotel immensely. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful. The staff is fantastic, and our hostess at the restaurant is first class. The food is excellent and really good value for money. The hotel is clean and well-maintained, and our room was spacious with really great views. I will definitely be staying here again.

Great stay after an exhausting weekend. The big bed and rainfall shower were so welcome and dinner delicious.
We had a very pleasant stay there. Our waiter, Moses, didn't seem to know what he was doing, but otherwise everything was just fine. It was clean and neat. Perhaps lacking in the charm I was expecting from such an old hotel - was expecting a Matjiesfontein, Prince Albert, Lord Carnarvon or some such building, which was my mistake, certainly not theirs. I could have looked at their photo and not wanted something else to be behind the facade.

It was okay. Would have liked more information in the room about WiFi etc. Staff at the reception are busy all the time, so getting information is difficult. Reception for TV was very bad.
Don't know where the misunderstanding came in, when we arrived Houw Hoek was not even aware of our booking. And didn't want to help us. After we insisted that they call you and confirm our pre-paid booking, they scurry around. The room was not ready, towels smelled like barbecue. The next morning they wanted to give us a bill again which we refused to pay. It was my husband and I's 14th wedding anniversary and what a disappointment it was!

It was relaxing and a good breakaway from city life. We celebrated our anniversary on the 16th and were spoiled by the staff as a surprise.

We had to check out early so they offered us a breakfast pack, it was good service and was much appreciated. The room was big with lots of beds, but there was a lot of 'black mould' all over one wall in the bathroom! There was also no hot water for us to shower in the morning.
I fell off a faulty chair at breakfast. No management person interviewed me. Tragic!
Got there after check-in time staff for the check-in info wrong because of a cancellation I made prior and wanted me to pay for rooms I cancelled prior. Staff not very helpful, no help with where rooms are located especially for 1st timers, just had a bad experience.

Clean and tidy rooms. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was delicious. Everything was within walking distance of our room, so there was no need to drive anywhere. I would definitely recommend the place.

Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. Restaurant serves very good food and offers good value for money.
What I did not like is the door interlinking to the room next door. It was very disturbing to our peace as the people in the room next door was speaking fairly loudly early in the morning and it spoilt my sleep in altogether. Also we waited quite a long time for a drinks order when the venue was literally empty. Also when I asked for 2 wine glasses via telephone the glasses never arrived. Not even with the food I ordered. So it would be nice if the staff on the phone would be more attentive to what the patrons are requesting in the rooms. Also there was nothing stocked in the fridge. Quite disappointing.

There are lots of activities at the hotel for children, and a very nice restaurant with the best buffet dinner and breakfast. There are also many nice places and paddocks to visit in the area.

The location of the hotel is very convenient, the meals are scrumptious and the setting is beautiful.
This is a fantastic family type getaway.
Firstly when I try to book they told me they were full. After contacting Travel Ground we got a booking. When we arrived at Houw Hoek Hotel we saw that there were lot of rooms empty. Even the evening there was only 13 people dining. It is such a nice place that left a bad taste in my mouth. When I was checking out they even got my account wrong. But I told them the amount was wrong. How can I tell other people about Houw Hoek Hotel when from the start there were problems.
Cold water in winter is unacceptable. Phones in room not working, so can't report problems. Breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly.
We lacked absolutely nothing. Everything great! What stood out was the customer service. From reception (Jody) and restaurant managers to the friendly and helpful hotel manager. We would definitely recommend it and visit again for sure!
