We really enjoyed the overnight stay at Ikaia River Lodge. Quiet, safe and tidy. The tranquility and calm of the river, little goats and palm trees with a beautiful sunset exceeded our expectations. Shade trees and pool also a plus.

Beautiful lodge with a view that impressed us. The food at the restaurant was really delicious and their service was fantastic. We don't just complain, but if we have to highlight something, it's that unit 8's bed in which we stayed was uncomfortably hard and they should probably get new pillows as the pillows were really uncomfortable to sleep on because they are so 'mushy' . Other than that we can't fault it and we will stay there again.
Camping was lovely on the banks of the river.
Well equipped unit right next to the river. Had a lot of fun with the springboks right in front of our porch. The restaurant on site was also a big plus.

Hi, beautiful view. We realize the power problem was no one's fault, but wow, it was hot and the fridge was leaking, the floor was soaking wet. There are e.g. not offered ice for us.
Although braai facility was offered, no cutlery or crockery was available for our 2-night stay. We tried having breakfast at the lodge, was not a good meal at all.
No, the aircon went off around 5 o'clock with a stove, and we had to barbecue. It didn't come back on. The sheet had embers on it and didn't look very good.
Wished I could visit longer. Beautiful and peaceful. Just no TV for relaxation.

It is the best place to end an incredibly nice holiday. Love the green lawns, springboks walking around peacefully, private bathroom for each campsite was a big surprise, clean and tidy. Would highly recommend anyone to go and relax there, I know hubby and I will definitely be staying there again.

We decided to stay here on our journey to paddle down the Orange River. Originally we were going to camp however the high river level unfortunately did not allow us to do so. We then upgraded to the chalets which were amazing and the view of the river was spectacular. We really enjoyed our stay. The Easter bunny even left chocolates for us.
Prior to our departure from home 3 weeks before we were contacted by the owner that the Orange river had burst its banks and flooded the camping sites. However they believed it would be possible to make repairs by our arrival date. When we arrived the river had risen again and thwarted attempts to make reparations. The owners and management were most concerned for our wellbeing and have us an alternative camping possibility close to the ablutions and on higher ground. Well it turned out to be perfect for us and we had a most enjoyable stay. We enjoyed everything about the place including the springbuck and bunnies on the property. Lovely restaurant and pool is also available. Thanks to all for your concern and making a plan.
I have to say it was one of the best places we have been for a weekend, the great coffee, the silence, the friendliness of the staff and much more. We will definitely go again.
The springboks on the grass greeted us in die morning and the river rapids made for a very relaxing atmosphere.
Restaurant was then due to holiday, but were asked in advance if we wanted packed lunches, just make sure if you want self-catering that you book correctly.
It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a New Year's weekend like this - in nature, peaceful and calm under the most beautiful trees and green grass. The river that is literally bursting at the seams right now is so beautiful. We enjoyed the weekend incredibly.

Lodge was built on the banks of the Orange River which was in flood with a breathtaking view. We just didn't get good service at due Restaurant one night. Waited more than one and a half hours for food.
What a pity that this venue is right beside a very busy main road, despite it's lovely setting along the banks of the mighty Gariep River. The trucks didn't stop all night.

Peaceful stay by the Orange River. We had a wonderful stay, the accommodation is neat and the staff is friendly. We would only suggest having a climbing frame or play area set up for children, for days when you can't/don't want to swim. The restaurant may also consider a children's menu.

Bietjie meer verwag. Ligging is fantasties maar die restaurant en eenheid was nie wat ek verwag het nie. Yskas in slaapvertrek raas. Lugversorger moes reggemaak word maar het by DB bord "getrip" toe dit reën. Daar is geen venters nie, behalwe die skuifdeur in die slaapgedeelte van die eenheid waarin ons was.
Our room's roof leaked. The first night we were there, we got drenched in rain in the room and got no sleep. There wasn't even a plate or a knife and fork in the room. We had to go and buy everything we needed.

Was on a business trip in the area. Keimoes and then Ikaia are centrally located, between Upington and Kakamas. Options at Ikaia to be selfish, to grill, or to enjoy the restaurant.

We arrived in the early evening after visiting the Augrabies falls, had dinner and stayed in a chalet. When I needed help with the aircon, it came quickly and was very helpful. Unfortunately the wireless didn't reach my room.
We enjoyed our one night stay in a comfy and clean room. The biggest shower we have ever had in a lodge.
Clean, tidy unit with nice braai area and separate kitchen, children really enjoyed the dining area! Caught fish and wonderfully relaxed with the river sounds audible all the time. Beautiful scenery. All that was a bit uncomfortable was the privacy of the bathroom. Everything else was great, thank you very much!
Best coffee in the rooms - beyond expectations! The rooms are neat and clean. Would have preferred a slightly bigger bed for me and my wife, the double bed is a bit tight.

We were driving from those sands of Kalahari desert and to find such an oasis on our way back to Cape Town was a pure joy! The beautiful Orange River! Nicely maintained green lawn with springboks grazing just meters away from our room! Wonderful hospitality of all staff! And delicious food at the restaurant! Highly recommend to anyone in case they want to stay somewhere around Upington!

Camped in a tent.
It's a beautiful place with friendly staff. The large lawns with the springboks that walk there create a peaceful atmosphere. The accommodation is spacious, clean and tidy and one can also camp here and perhaps catch a fish or two. One should only note that the restaurant closes on Mondays at 14:00 and dinner must be arranged in advance. We were quite looking forward to eating in the restaurant as we were traveling and not really equipped to cook ourselves, but it was still a lovely experience.
The location plays a big role. I will definitely stay at Ikaia again if I am in the area again.

Perfect location, calming atmosphere, just what a tired mind needs. Breeze of the wind through the trees and the roaring of the mighty Orange River. The flies might just sometimes spoil it, but worth the stay.

Ikaia is situated in a beautiful setting by the river. If you want to relax and switch off this is the place to be. Restaurant's food is of high standard and friendly staff. Braai facilities available and owners went out of their way to make us feel at home.

We were tired from traveling and arrived late. Was kindly received and was grateful for the restaurant facilities, the rest of the evening went easily. Just a pity the WiFi password in our room didn't work. Luckily it wasn't crucial, but maybe for the next person it is.
