78 guests' feedbackVery nice stay. Marlene is very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the farm atmosphere. Guests with crawling babies just need to be aware of the porch that is not closed.
Met all our needs. Very secure, very friendly hostess.
Lovely farm feeling with the chickens and peacocks and dogs. Conveniently close to everything. The beds, bedding and pillows were nice. The cottage had everything one needs. Definitely value for money. We will stay there again.
The stay was lovely. The accommodation and the setting are beautiful, and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful.
The staff is super friendly and helpful! The place is beautiful.
Peaceful. Tranquil. Restful. Marlene and Gert are wonderful hosts.
Our stay at In the Vineyard Cottages was excellent, everything we needed was available and the facilities very good and comfortable. Marlene is an excellent hostess and went out of her way to make everything as comfortable as possible for us. She communicated constantly and helped where she could, thank you very much for that. It is a lovely peaceful environment where you can enjoy the nature and vineyard on your doorstep and relax.
Very comfortable and quiet. Good service.
Very private, peaceful and safe. Central location. We enjoyed our stay.
Quiet, relaxed, neat, friendly and all round good value.
Accommodation was not too bad, but the units need renovation work - the water and shower facilities are a challenge in some of the bathrooms - little hot water coming out. Hostess was friendly and helpful. So no, expected more from the stay.
What a beautiful property. It is tranquil and it's location is perfect.
We loved the working farm, welcomed by Marlene, healthy chicken around, peacocks, 2 lovely dogs, the fragrance of the rose garden, a large stoep with an inviting braai, and a simple yet charming cottage.
Marlene was very pleasant. The cottage has a nice braai area that is sheltered from the wind with the most beautiful view of the orchards.
This little cottage has so much heart. I loved staying here and gave me a big break from the Cape Town city life. It was such a comfortable stay and I can't wait to comeback again!
Very centrally located, close to all the places we needed to be. Environment beautiful and very peaceful!
We had a great time. It was very convenient. Marlene was very friendly and helpful. It is also centrally located.
Absolutely loved our stay. A perfect setting for a family reunion. Large spacious rooms, clean and comfortable. Also safe and peaceful. Two very friendly and adorable dogs helped make it a very special and memorable stay.
We enjoyed our stay in the mountain cottage immensely. The cottage is private and secluded as described. There isn't a view of the vineyard from this cottage but it has a nice patio and little garden area which make up for it. Loadshedding was challenging but gas with a kettle was a help. The water is powered by a gas geyser but it doesn't stay hot during loadshedding which would've been a bigger plus. The large shower and ball-and-claw bath were a huge novelty. The drive through the vineyards from the gate to the cottages is just wonderful and such a treat for us city slickers! Marlene and Gert were welcoming hosts and responded attentively when needed. Distance to Stellenbosch town is acceptable and we found it a more affordable way of visiting the town.
The cottage is as in the photo, neat and clean. I do think the sofa bed is not suitable for sleeping on. We needed the sofa - the place advertises that 5 people can sleep there. The 5th person sleeps on a pull-out sofa which is not suitable. I would recommend changing it to a 4-person sleeper or replacing the couch with one that is whole and comfortable.
Very nice stay thank you.
No problems. Thank you.
Very nice stay. Close to the wine routes in the area.
Marlene and her 2 beautiful, loving dogs made us feel so at home. The house is beautiful, tasteful and very neatly furnished with everything you need. We could have a great barbecue with the most beautiful surroundings, tranquility and with absolute safety. Would highly recommend the stay.
Slept wonderfully in lovely bedding.
We stayed at In the Vineyard Cottages for a weekend as we attended a wedding in the area. Marlene and her team helped us with extraordinary requests wrt catering, braai wood etc.
We had a great time and although it was cold and rainy, it was wonderfully cozy inside. Everything was clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable.
We had a great time with you. Excellent service and hospitality.
It's close to so many tourist activities and yet so peaceful and homely.
The place is very neat and it feels very peaceful so among the vineyards. There was nice braai wood and they even came to clean the place on the second day. Nice big bed and shower.
We will definitely return. The peaceful atmosphere was wonderful. Cleaning service every other day, friendly service, wood for braai & fireplace contributed to a wonderful visit. Many thanks to everyone on the farm.
Marlene is a nice and very friendly hostess. She did a good job with her tasks and was also very helpful, always making sure that everything was OK with us. Had a great time on the large porch under the vineyard arbor with its view of the lane of olive trees and green lawn. Would recommend the accommodation anytime.
Marlene and team make you feel like it's your own place and go out of their way to do anything for you. The facilities are very good and location fantastic - far enough out of the city, close enough if you want to do something. Thanks to everyone there - my Mum and I had a great time for our short break.
Great hospitality. Location was excellent and the views are amazing. The only concern were the electric fence around the cottages. I that get it's for safety, but it is not child friendly.
I felt the lounge furniture could do with an upgrade, maybe towels as well.
We weren't advised that the unit will not be serviced during our stay.
Relaxed, calm, friendly.
Friendly hostess, the cottage is beautifully clean and nicely furnished. The surroundings are beautiful and peaceful.
However, the following things bothered us: The shower shocked us slightly. The fan in the living room can only work when the lights are on. Our one son had to sleep on the sofa bed and it was a problem because the fan is needed because it was so hot but then the lights have to be on. There is a big dog with an open wound on his leg that came to lie on our porch and it was not pleasant for us. We are dog people and didn't mind the other two dogs being there.
Very nice accommodation away from the noisy city. Highly recommended.
Marlene did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Very nice environment.
This is our second time staying at In The Vineyard Cottages. It definitely won't be our last time either. We enjoy every moment there! Als is always in its place and very neat and tasteful! I would definitely recommend it to someone who wants to stay nice and enjoy peace and quiet!
We had a lovely stay. Very hospitable people who go out of their way to make everything as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It is near Stellenbosch and Paarl and everything around us was just beautiful. The rooms were very neat, with enough space for everyone. The braai area is just as fantastic ─ we enjoyed our stay. I highly recommend it! I will go back to them every time. It was awesome.
We stayed in the mountain view unit. It is spotless, completely private and contains all the facilities needed for a long weekend in the Cape. The hostess is extremely friendly and helpful.
Comfortable, secure units in a beautiful area, ideally located for exploring Stellenbosch and surroundings. Extremely helpful management. Highly recommended.
We were with 2 girlfriends, who had never been here before. Traveled from the airport to veneeryard as a good starting point for touring the area. The "girls" (60 ers) enjoyed the beauty of this country in the 3 days. With great thanks to Marlene, the quick, sweet and brave owner.
Thanks to our friendly hostess who was also able to make room for the two little ones. Great swimming in the cement pond, walking between vineyards, stargazing, barbecue. Facilities clean and comfortable. Nice big family shower. Water slightly erratic. The visits from the farm dogs and the peacock were also nice. Coffee / eatery with fresh vegetables and gifts across the road is ideal. We will come again.
"In the Vineyard Cottages" already had 28 reviews when I booked, and they were almost 100% positive! The photos are really nicely taken, and they are true to what they offer, but don't tell the whole story and create a false expectation. Here is my family's experience: 1) The place smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. It is drawn into everything. My nose started burning at night and I went to sleep in my car. 2) The place is cramped, and built against an adjacent unit with only a short wall separating the porches. The neighbors sat and smoked on their porch, then it blew up to our porch and into our house. It was unpleasant. The place is listed as "no smoking indoors", but they don't say that neighbors can only stand behind the wall of your braai and smoke. 3) We had to park our car on the other side of the neighbours' unit. While the neighbors were sitting on the porch and visiting, we had to struggle past their porch with all our bags. They were nice neighbors, but it's not nice when people watch you when you move in. 4) Like at a tent camping site where you live next to each other with open "doors", the neighbors quickly walk around the wall and come to make friends. Nice if I go camping with my tent, but not nice if I've booked a self-catering unit that looks like it's privately hidden in a vineyard. There was no privacy. 5) The beautiful black sofa in the photo in the living room has been completely replaced. You basically sit on the boards at the bottom of the sofa. There is no more talk of upholstery. It's very uncomfortable. And it's advertised as a fold-out bed for another person. 6) The chairs in the lounge's upholstery were visibly dirty. It may be washed, but looks dirty and old. It may also have been put through. I didn't want to test it. 7) Just after we moved in, the owner came to replace light bulbs in the bathroom. I don't understand why this wasn't done before we arrived. 8) Oh yes, there are some weeds growing on the porch against the house's walls and the garden in front of the unit was not taken care of at all. Grass weeds have been growing into the beds for some time, and only the grass is cut, not the ridges. It looks sloppy. Owners are nice people and the place had been nice at one point, but it was completely different from what we expected and an unpleasant experience to say the least. I advise anyone not to book this place until the owner bg. addressed problems. One email and a couple of phone calls later and we had new accommodation for the next night and arrangements were being made for a refund of our booking fees.
Unbelievably nice place to stay! The owners are particularly helpful and friendly. The place is extremely centrally located with access to many wine farms and trails within a good radius. It is such a peaceful environment with the most beautiful view. I will definitely visit the place again and recommend it to anyone with a clear heart. Thank you very much Marlene, your place is beautiful and something special!
Met all our needs. Child friendly.
It's a beautiful area and place to stay in. Easily sighted from the main road and accessible. The facilities are excellent and clean. The house we stayed in was private and safe.
Lovely place to stay. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Cottage is clean, neat and spacious, peaceful atmosphere. Nice and close to lots of wine farms, yet it is on a beautiful grape and olive farm.
Peaceful, central and hospitable people. Would definitely book again.
We were warmly welcomed by Joubert and Marlene. The 3 nights we stayed there was extraordinary and the view of across the vineyard with the mountain in the background was an experience.
We had such a nice stay here! Marlene is friendly and helpful. The units are spacious, big and very neat. If we could we would've stayed longer for sure. And as my dad said: definitely a place we have to remember for the future!
We had a lovely stay in the Mountain Cottage. The location is perfect and close to lots of other wine farms and activities. The Potbelly is nice and close and perfect for breakfast or lunch. We also bought meat there and had a lovely braai at the cottage. The cottage was also nice and clean and everything was very convenient. We will definitely stay there again.
We had some trouble finding the entrance on that busy road. Maybe they just need to post a big enough sign(s). But after that we knew where the entrance was and managed easily. Place is spacious and tidy and everything you need. The Great Danes add value to the visit! Our program was too busy, wish we had taken one day off just to enjoy the farm and people. They also produce their own olives and peach jam. We were received very kindly and we are very satisfied. Thank you very much.
We are from the Lowveld, so for us it was very cold, just wanted to warm up with electric blankets or a hot water bottle. Something to think about. Apart from that it was lovely and clean.
Joubert was very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is very clean and tidy and nice and quiet. It is also centrally located between Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Wellington and Paarl.
In the Vineyard creates a relaxing farm atmosphere, combined with a wine and olive farm. It's centrally located, very peaceful and very nice for a family/friends getaway. We have been staying there for the past two years and will go again and again!
Marlene and Joubert are very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our 4 nights. Feel free to buy some of Marlene's homemade olive oil, jam and pickle. You won't regret it!
Good accommodation and ideal if you want to explore the Cape.
See rating.
It was our first time staying at a wine estate. The service was absolutely amazing and the place to stay cozy and cute. Because there were so many holidays and most places are closed in December, we struggled to get dry cleaners open for our laundry and Marlene was so fantastic to offer to wash it for us herself. Such a hospitable couple! The two dogs on the premises left an extra "warmth" in our hearts every day. Our children were free to move around the premises and we did not worry for one moment about their safety. So carefully! The farm pond (aka swimming pool) was an added bonus in the heat during our December holiday. We visit the Cape as a family every other year and we will definitely book again at this cute place! Thank you Marlene and family for the best holiday ever!
I always judge a place by its linens. Good quality linen on the beds and the place was clean and tidy. It almost feels when you drive away that you have known the owners for years! Would recommend to anyone!
Our host and hostess are absolutely wonderful, welcomed us with open arms and really helpful! Beautiful cottages I would recommend them to anyone and it's so close to some of the best wine farms. Was really one of my best vacations yet!
Definitely value for money. See you again next year.
The tranquility on the farm was very welcome. Our hostess was very friendly. Would recommend to people looking to get away. Lovely cottage.
Can definitely recommend to anyone.
Would just put a stronger light in the bathroom as it is a bit dark.
We had a wonderful stay for four nights! Will have to look far to get better value for money. Will definitely stay here again.
If there are two independent families in the two houses, the walls are thin.
The ideal place for peace and rest for your mind. Cool in a warm environment, but with very warm hospitality, away from the hustle and bustle of busy Stellenbosch. Very central with three beautiful towns close enough for day trips - and dozens of wineries and eateries within a few kilos. We will definitely go again.
Thank you for a wonderful visit!
The accommodation is clean and comfortable and is very centrally located. There is a lovely barbecue area and children's playground on the grass outside. The host and wife were very friendly. We will definitely stop by again!
We really enjoyed our stay at this fantastic place!
