Was everything I imagined it would be. Beautiful serene views next to the dam on your allotted deck. It's very cold obviously because it's winter, but the fireplace definitely helps with heating the place up.
We needed accommodation in close proximity to Oak Valley for an MTB event. Inn On Highlands offered us a very good self-catering option.
We felt looked after, we felt we had a place to ourselves and we really felt at home and one with nature. Truly beautiful scenery.
Not only did Inn On Highlands offer to move our booking date without issue, but due to the rains preventing us from getting there, they held onto our phone we left it there and make a plan for us to stay another night. They supplied us with wood and blitz and the place had a nice hearth for a fireplace. The bed was comfy, the shower was hot and we had everything we needed to make coffee, supper, etc. I highly recommend Inn On Highlands as an awesome place to stay for a weekend!

Comfortable accommodation with spacious kitchen/living area and bedrooms. Beautiful farm and area. We all wished we could stay longer. Malindi is a wonderful and responsive host.
View of vineyards was beautiful.
The photos of the location of the unit were misleading. We booked the unit as there were no other units available. The unit was clean and tidy, as in the photos, but the unit is right next to the quite busy Highlands Road and the road noise was disturbing. There is no TV in the unit, and if you wanted to barbecue, you look directly out onto the road. The unit overlooks workers' cottages and there was passage of workers through a hole in the boundary wall. We were not comfortable staying in that unit as the manager also gave us an alarm pusher with a panic button. Along with this, the anti-theft on the windows was not reassuring. The manager did offer a more luxurious unit, with an additional daily amount that we would have to pay. However, we decided to look for other accommodation instead, and therefore lost our full accommodation fee.
If anyone wants a break; this is one of the most beautiful places with the most peaceful environment that I have experienced in a long time. I will definitely go again and hope to stay longer.
The little rooms are lovely and have everything you need, and the surroundings are absolutely beautiful. The lake with the weeping willows, rolling hills in the background and orchards are like a scene from the English countryside. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a nice, peaceful getaway.

On our arrival, our host was friendly and helpful. The accommodation was very nice and we were situated on the water's edge as shown in the picture. The only problem is there are a lot of mosquitoes so do take some peaceful sleep along. A well-equipped kitchen and good facilities for braaiing. All in all a wonderful relaxing time was had by all. The accommodation is well situated.
Malindi was friendly and uncomplicated.

This was the perfect place to spend our Christmas away with the family. The cottages were well equipped with all we needed. Having lunch on the patio over looking the farm was something nice and different. The owners were warm and welcoming. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a wonderful time.

Unfortunately only slept there 1 night, would have liked to have stayed there much longer. Cottage is well equipped and clean. Inn On Highlands is the perfect place to enjoy the summer with friends or family. The little beach as part of the dam was a favourite! Sufficient barbecue area, plenty of shade and good facilities. We hired the deck for the day and had a choice between a proper pizza oven or the barbecue. For our group of 13 with a bunch of teenagers, Mr White was the ideal place to stay. The house is very basic - not enough seating or cutlery for so many people for a long period of time but plenty of room and comfortable sleeping accommodation. Was very clean and tidy and beautiful linen on the beds. Amazing view from both the deck and the house and walking distance from each other. It's in a beautiful part of our country and so close to Cape Town and suburbs.
I think the photos on the website don't quite do this venue justice, the flow and interior design is just lovely. There is also the outside overlooking the lake, nature at its most peaceful and beautiful. Definitely intending to return soon.

Great rest, most beautiful view. Stayed in Mrs Brown and only negative was that there is not a lot of privacy if both houses are outside. Would highly recommend a stay though.
This is the ideal place to base yourself for a holiday in Elgin. Close to the wine farms, Peregrine and the Railway Market. We stayed in one of the two bedroom cottages overlooking the pond. These are four units that are connected, but with separate entrances. The units are one large room with the bed, living area and kitchen in one. The bathroom is open, but the toilet has a door that closes. There is no barbecue area, but you can ask for a Weber. There is no stove, but there is a microwave and kettle as well as a braai plate that can be plugged into the wall. The lawn and deck in front of the units are very nice for visiting and relaxing. It's a 5 minute walk around the dam to the swimming area where there are a bunch of canoes for everyone to use. Everything you need for a very peaceful holiday!
We really enjoyed our visit as the children had a great time in the pond. The view is beautiful. The kitchen could do with a few extras.

We had the perfect morning wedding on Saturday, April 27th at Inn on Highlands. Keith, the owner went out of his way to accommodate our every need from the first email. Our guests arrived at Inn on Highlands on Friday night as we prepared the deck at the pond for the 8:00 am ceremony the next morning. Between all the guests checking in, Keith still made sure we had everything we needed. Our morning wedding was more than I expected! The guests loved the property, being within walking distance of the wedding area. The beautiful views over the Grabouw valley also contributed to a perfect weekend. On Saturday afternoon we continued the visit by holding a braai at the restaurant area and once again our guests had a great time. The cottages are well equipped and everyone had a wonderful stay. Would definitely recommend Inn on Highlands for large groups (We were around 55 people).
Was a good stay. However, the WiFi did not work and the milk in the fridge was way past its expiry date. I do think prices are a bit high. The water in shower also had a weird odour, I assume its dam water.
Good and friendly service. Everything need and clean. Lots to do in surrounding areas. Really had a bliss time.
We had a nice stay. Maybe each room's braai area could be more partitioned on the porch. For more privacy. I don't want to see what the neighbours are doing. We were there at the same time that a group had team building. We would also love sit next to the dam to be romantic, but the fact that it is not private prevented us from doing so. It is a very nice and quiet place when there are no team builders.
The accommodation was neat and comfortable for our Christmas time. Nicky was very helpful and gave us the office bar fridge for everyone the dessert. She is the best. The beds can swallow you properly if you want to rest. The children enjoyed the pond.
We had a great weekend at Inn on Highlands in the Elgin Valley. Our first time in the valley, and it was just amazing fun. We were 2 families of 4 (children 4 years and 2 years old) and a Grandfather who all stayed together in Mr Blonde. Nice lawn outside with an outdoor barbecue and table to eat outside. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms very nice with very nice showers. Felt like a huge upgrade from our cottage. Beds, duvet, linen all provided. And then there was the pond we went swimming in. Children especially enjoyed playing on the canoes available for use, and we all paddled out on the dam to just breathe in and absorb the tranquility and rest for the soul. There is no doubt we will be back to Inn On Highlands again for sure.
