This beautifully restored Victorian house can accommodate up to 6 guests and comprises of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and two living areas. All bedrooms are furnished with double beds, percale linen, electric blankets and towels. Both bathrooms are fitted with showers only.
The kitchen is equipped for self-catering and contains a stove, an oven, a fridge-freezer, microwave, cutlery and crockery. The dining area has seating space for 6 people and an indoor braai. The lounge has a comfy lounge suite and a fireplace.
The house has a spacious enclosed garden, a verandah and off-street parking.

The stay at Jack of the Karoo was absolutely fantastic. Good value for our money. Clean and tidy rooms. Spacious kitchen and living area with indoor grill and fireplace. It was a great weekend and we will definitely be back again.

We really enjoyed the weekend. Might want to christen it the "Oasis of the Karoo" instead. Lovely old farmhouse that has been beautifully upgraded but has kept the character with the wooden floors and large windows and front porch. Very well furnished and lovely clean. Can recommend it for sure!

The place is very spacious and tidy. It is the ideal place for a family to stay for just a few days. There is everything from a fireplace to a perculator, with bags - a treat for sure.

We were kindly received by Anneline who informed us about what we needed to know. The house has everything you need for a nice stay. Your car is parked in the garage, there is an indoor braai and small fireplace (there is wood, but bring more or buy in town), electric blanket, solar power and batteries, good WiFi, washing machine, coffee maker, etc. I would stay here again and can highly recommend it.

Our family had a great time in this stately old Karoo home. Friendly service and everything was spotless. The large garden was an added bonus for our little dog.

Jack of the Karoo is well appointed with a welcome indoor braai/barbecue as well as a wood burner fireplace. An easy walk to the few shops and restaurant's where we met welcoming locals and a short drive to Sterreland for some evening star gazing which did not disappoint. A great venue for weekends, long weekends or midweek breaks.
The children really enjoyed the board games and we were able to have a nice barbecue with the provided wood and good fireplace. There is light during load shedding, the beds are soft and warm and our hostess Janine was particularly welcoming and friendly. I would recommend anyone to stay here.

Will plan better next time on times and days re. visits. Suffered back injury that limited movement. But the house is very nice. Fortunately, I took spare wood with me. The batteries of the "remotes" went dead but I was able to operate them by changing them. Pointed that out to caretaker. They are stars. Great, until next time. Seems to me it is better to come in Aug.
This was our first visit to Sutherland. We had a wonderful stay in this well equipped house. Carrying capacity was not a problem either.
We had a lovely stay and the family had a great time.
The house has many rooms with many beds and blankets and all you could need when staying in Sutherland. It has modern amenities, such as a computer for office work and Wi-Fi on backup power for load-shedding times. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need to cook anything. The living areas were spacious. The bedrooms were also clean, and electric blankets were provided. The big drawback was how cold the house was. The small fireplace in the living room is insufficient to warm up that space, leaving the bedrooms freezingly cold, undesirable in Sutherland's frigid winters. So, bring a heater.
Very clean and nice house that is close to shops and restaurants. Will definitely bring my dogs with the next time cos it has a nice big yard.

We were very impressed with the accommodation. The house is nice and big with lots of space. Lovely wooden floors, decor, fireplace and lovely showers. They also have a gas camping stove and a battery system for lights during loadshedding. The garden is nice and big and completely fenced so that your dogs can run and play outside. On the porch, the gaps in the fence may be a little too big to keep small dogs in, but for a medium size and larger it is perfect. Janine is very hospitable too. The surroundings are beautiful and the village looks nice and clean. We will definitely return there and stay longer. We were very happy with the stay.
The front garden is completely closed and the windows have burglar bars. It is a very nice living house with 2 bathrooms and also an indoor braai. We also took 2 cats with us and they really enjoyed sitting on the windowsills and basking in Sutherland's sun.

From the moment we got there and Anneline made us feel so wonderfully at home, it was one lovely and cozy visit. The house is tastefully and extremely comfortably furnished and the fireplace was perfect for our freezing day there. After a great night's rest and hot shower we were ready for the long road.

It's the most beautiful house with spacious rooms and the most beautiful decor. Wood floors and two fireplaces. Nice cuddly bedding and electric blanket for the winter. Nice porch with bench for morning coffee. Friendly welcome. Good reminders and service. Next time I will stay longer.

We traveled with friends - group of 6. Everyone had their own rooms which was fantastic. Nice, sheltered sitting area with nice indoor barbecue, as well as fireplace. Big yard because puppies traveled together and the hospitality with everything was great. Jack of the Karoo will definitely see us again.

Beautifully clean and tidy, well equipped accommodation, with enough wood to have a nice barbecue and fire inside to ward off the Sutherland cold. Lights available if power is out and even a washing machine if you need to do some washing.

The house was lovely spacious, but not cold. The fireplace, charcoal stove and indoor braai kept the house nice and warm. It was nice to be able to walk from the house to the center of town. It was nice for me to be able to let dogs and children go out in a yard that was fenced.

Lots of space, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, WiFi, nice indoor barbecue, everything you need is there. We enjoyed Sutherland so much, will definitely go back there in the winter. The stargazing was special, we were with Jurg on the farm as well as in town at the Planetarium, the latter was the best and taught us the most about the stars. Lovely town, ideal for just walking around in the late afternoon and taking pictures, and getting some rest for the soul.

The place was well equipped, we didn't need anything extra. Everything clean and in its place. Very spacious, and cozy unit. We were able to take our puppy with us which was a bonus. All in all, we really enjoyed our visit and can wholeheartedly recommend Jack of the Karoo.

The only bad thing was that there was watershedding and we only heard about it when we got to the house. Along with that there was also loadshedding and therefore we couldn't have a hot shower the first evening, since we were booked to go star gazing. We did have a hot shower the next morning though.
We also appreciated that the owner, Jacques, arranged dinner for us at a local restaurant, since we were driving so long.
The house was huge and clean and has everything you need. The house will definitely be great for a group of people. We were only 2 people and were worried about the fact that the Trellidoor lock was broken and the driveway gate could not be locked. A fan would be most welcome on hot days. But the place was lovely otherwise.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this spacious house. It was lovely to have an inside braai area close to the kitchen for those chilly nights and then an extra fireplace in another room to get cozy after dinner. The big garden was a huge surprise and definitely a bonus as we have 2 lively boys. They loved running around outside. Another added bonus was the table tennis set we found in a cupboard and we had hours of fun with that.

Very nice sandstone house with the most beautiful plank floors. Just a pity for flies and mosquitoes that shared a visit with us. Fortunately, there was the necessary poison for a restful night.

We struggled with the stench in the house coming from the bathrooms. Agents gave a very generic explanation and owner promised to give feedback after visiting home, but nothing came of it.
Braai's smoke does not dissipate properly. Previous visitors' dirty bedding under the kitchen table.
