Lovely, clean and tidy.
We booked 9 nights in this house with the idea to rest. Loxton is not a town for activity and jolls. This house gave us the privacy and quietness we needed. It is situated at the end of the town with the sheep feeding kraal on your front stoep. So basically we were on a Karoo farm. The house has a morning stoep and an afternoon stoep, so you can do a lot of stoep sitting. The house is beautiful, recently painted, and has undergone a bit of renovation without taking away the Karoo farm feeling. The house is nice and cool with big sliding doors opening in the main area. The owners are friendly, helpful, and this town understands hospitality. The sky is big and the stars are bright in this place. I will return for a stay in Loxton- Karoonag.
Really very nice and well equipped.
Great place. See us again for sure.
Layout of the house is very practical and neat. Instructions are very clear and the neighbors were very helpful.
Exceptionally enjoy!
Friendly staff. Convenient to be able to order side dishes for barbecue. Delivered to you. Home-baked bread is unstoppably delicious. Stars palpably close.
Nice patios and indoor places to hang out!
Quiet environment and relax well.
See stars.
Wow, what a surprise Loxton was. The house was perfect for our family get together. Loxton was in the middle for us from the Western Cape and my parents from the North West. Our family of 4 (with small children) and 2 pairs of grandmas and grandpas' visit was just what we needed. There were no outside elements of hustle and bustle or TV to distract us. Children could play outside on the grass with their balls. Grandfather and children had a good time outside on the grass. Delicious braai area under roof, the kitchen is open plan to the lounge area and outdoor braai is so nice. Everyone is with each other all the time. The large wooden table was big enough for all 8 of us to sit and eat comfortably. We also found a chess board in the house and had fun playing and teaching the kids. The house itself only had sleeping space for 6 people, the Writer's House on the outside we rented extra directly from the owners, so that we could sleep with a total of 8 people. The Writers' House was full of Deon Meyer's books, it was quite impressive. The second day a lady came and tidied up the house a bit and washed excess dishes. It helped a lot to just feel that you as a Mum can also rest and don't have to work all the time. I also gave her a little something extra to say thank you, although I believe her tip was also included in the house's rent. A few points that can be worked on: 1. Here and there small maintenance on the house that needs to be done on the outside. Fixing the stone path's loose slates again. My little girl hurt her foot there. 2. The tub's push-in plug mechanism does not work. They did send a man the next day (when I asked for the second time) to fix it, but he couldn't fix it and had to make another plan. It was disruptive for my small children not to be able to bathe that evening. 3. The dishwasher wouldn't work. Had to pull the dishwasher out of the hole myself and see that the electrical plug was not plugged in. Then we looked for the dishwasher soap or cubes. Couldn't find anything. Then poured in Sunlight liquid. 4. The oven itself also wouldn't work when I turned the knobs. The digital light also doesn't work and I can't quite see what to press. Just pressed some of the little buttons and then something happened and it went on and then smoked terribly. May need a service. The gas stove upstairs works 100%. 5. We pre-ordered bags of wood and asked if there was Blitz etc. going to be We have been informed that it will be there. No blitz or matches were left. We are not smokers so we didn't have any lighters with us. Digged in cupboards and drawers and at least managed to get hold of matches. Had to make a plan with oil and paper to get the fire going. I was just kind of frustrated because then I would have brought along. 6. The porches outside were very dirty and full of bird droppings, especially on the Writers' houses side. 7. The Writers House's beds were not made up like the house's beds. Had to make it up myself. 8. Each room had towels put down, but there weren't enough put down and had to ask for more. I just felt they knew how many we were going to be, that at least enough was put down. At least found the big closet with lots of towels in it. 9. Passing time schedule of when the irrigation starts. We stretched out on the grass and got soaked. I believe the points above are seen as positive and that one can work on them. I believe we all want to go forward and provide the best service. The main thing is we had a great time together and spent time with our loved ones in the cute quiet village and beautiful spacious house.
Lovely cottage with everything that is needed even for a longer stay. Great location since it is on the edge of Loxton so one has easy access to Loxton but also the benefit of the open field behind the cottage.
Exceptionally beautiful house, stylishly equipped and really a place to switch off and recharge yourself and gaze at the starry universe.
The accommodation was of excellent quality. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Loxton.
The house is beautiful, clean and has such a peaceful atmosphere. We didn't want to go home. It is the most beautiful place with more than you need. Will definitely want to visit there again.
The house is beautiful and very well furnished. The wonderful Karootuin is an absolute bonus, especially for our dogs who had a great time snooping around. We had a nice time at the Windpump, and even more fun at the barbecue and over the meal at home that the hostess arranged for us. Would love to come back for a longer stay. Thank you very much for your hospitality and effort.
Exceeded all expectations. Spacious, neat house in the Karoo with all the necessary accessories. Delicious barbecue and visit under the Karoosterre.
Beautiful, small town filled with peace and quiet.
Beautiful house, very tastefully decorated and with attention to detail. We had everything we needed, but perhaps in a cold winter's night some extra wood (for sale with an honesty box or something similar) would be appreciated. Otherwise a fantastic house with a wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely want to book it again.
Our host was kind and the accommodation clean and beautiful. Such a pity we could only stay one night. Perfect place to do a leisure trip! Great walking, hiking and biking trails. Great restaurants and quaint coffee shops, galleries all displaying the unique art and hospitality of this small Northern Cape Town.
Unfortunately there was no sense of privacy or security and we cut our stay short. What caught us off guard was the fact that there were workers (we assume they work there) stopped in front of the house and let them in themselves after we closed the front gate. They had a bunch of keys and so we were worried about who had access to what. Unfortunately, the place is not suitable for smaller dogs either, the fence on one side was big enough for the two of us to get through and we had to close them in the house. The place itself is beautiful, we were probably just there at the wrong time.
It was a five star experience from the friendly welcome to our departure. We will definitely return to this special home again.
Karoonag, what a beautiful place to stay. Old world charm with all the modern amenities, we loved it and will definitely stay there again.
Very nice stay.
Karoonag is a tastefully restored Karoo house that is well equipped and very comfortable. The house and garden still have loads of character and the front porch overlooks sheep and Karoo oranges, while the back porch has a nice braai and picnic table. We will definitely stay there again.
It's a strange feeling to get out of the city and drive into the village. There is something that I can't really put into words well enough for people to understand how special the place is. The cottage was an absolute treat, and became my luxurious hideaway in one visit. So well appointed with the fireplace, the deep bath, nice beds and linens to a dishwasher and washing machine. The outdoor barbecue and porch are so comfortable. I would recommend the self catering accommodation for any season. Absolutely five star! The effort that the owners put in to make the place so comfortable and homely is noticeable. Thank you guys! See you next month.
Beautiful house with friendly service from Linda and Cari. As if I were at my own home, will come visit again.
Was very surprised upon arrival with the beautiful luxurious house. Wonderful to experience the reading corner. Linda and the people, Freddie and Maria, are very helpful. Well done and have a good time.
We really enjoyed the small town and its people.
Thanks, really enjoyed it.
Very well equipped, we had a comfortable and cozy stay.
However, we took the R381 to reach the property, as recommended in the directions given, which is a dirt road. Unless you have a 4x4 I would not recommend that you go this route. We did not have a 4x4 and we had not only a puncture but a cracked windscreen because the road was so bad. It took us 3 hours to get to the house from Beaufort West and, if we had taken the R63 from Victoria West, which is a tarred road, we would have got there quicker.
The reception was pathetic, cleaning woman greeted us very inappropriately and could not give much information. We would not recommend it to anyone young or old.
We travelled from Gauteng to Cape Town with our 2 dogs, and stopped over in Loxton for an overnight stay: The house. I would quite happily make this house my home. If anything the photos don’t do the house justice. The house is beautifully furnished, well equipped with everything you need, and sparkling clean. The garden was also well maintained. Our host Cari was very friendly and helpful. She provided us with braai packs so that we could enjoy some fine Karoo lamb (Wood/Charcoal/Wine/Drinks/Snacks was also available to buy). If you’ve read this far, just click on “Book Now”. Well worth it.
Great stay and relax!
See stars.
It felt like a home away from home. What a beautiful setting and town. Next time I will book the braai packs.
Just far But one must go to feel and see the Karoo and its people.
Very nice, good for the soul.
The house and surroundings are everything we hoped for and even more - I will definitely go back and stay longer - I was however disappointed in the braai pack and will take our own food next time.
Accommodation is not worth the price. Needs some TLC but has lots of potential.
