54 guests' feedbackHad a great stay, the room is spacious and has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped and the braai on the stoep a winner. The small game that runs around the house is a bonus.
Was a great stay. We'll be back.
We had a very nice stay.
Beautiful cottage in a stunning part of the Karoo. The cottage has everything you need and is really comfortable.
Our stay was pleasant. Beautiful place with all the necessary facilities and use for overnight. Very neat and well furnished. We were one of the guests traveling with our pets - had no problems. Was just as welcome and enjoyed a lovely night's rest on the cool floor.
It was great, excellent service before we arrived, the chalet was very clean and tidy and perfectly laid out, I would recommend the stay to anyone.
A stunning place in the Karoo. The video directions and video WiFi info is a great idea. We will stay longer next time as it was a piece of modern living in a classic environment.
Old fashioned, peaceful farmstead where you are forced to finish reading your book.
Will definitely visit again in the tranquility of the Loxton area and the place to stay was exactly what we were looking for.
Spacious with separate lounge with fireplace. Luxury for the price.
We only stayed one night, but wished it could have been at least two so that we could explore the farm and the area in depth and enjoy the majestic night skies a second time. Highly recommended and very good value relative to many Karoo stays.
Jackal dance is the perfect resting place. Natural beauty and an environment we love.
See stars.
We were 3 guys on motorbikes, the longhouse worked perfectly for it, could park at our rooms, had a great barbecue and hike - what a beautiful farm and people!
We stayed in the old homestead. Graceful from an earlier period. Beautifully preserved, with large rooms and an enormous kitchen and living room. Having a good time on the front porch on the gazebo. The owner and staff were very friendly.
Linda has the ability to create beautiful homes, share them with guests and therefore make them an unforgettable and special experience! The finishing touches, furniture, linens and living space are so beautiful. The farm is extremely well cared for. Nothing was missing during our stay on Jakhalsdans. The customer service by Karin, Betjie and Linda made a big impression. Just be aware that the village goes dead quiet at 12pm on a Saturday. Make sure you have enough supplies with you to make the experience 100% perfect.
Fox Dance was everything and more I hoped it would be.
What a place! The accommodation and surroundings are out of the books. We were kindly received by Betjie and accompanied to our accommodation. We stayed in Skeerhuis A and I must say that the interior decoration is of excellent quality. Jackal dance we will definitely see you again!
We really enjoyed the visit on the farm and the farmhouse and cottage are beautiful! It is furnished with everything you need and the beds were very comfortable. Betjie welcomed us kindly and we also enjoyed the dogs. You can easily relax on the farm for a week and explore the walking and cycling route.
Hierdie plek is 'n gem! Van ontvangs saam met Betjie tot die lamsvleis, die kamers in die Shearers Cottage. Alles het ons hoogste verwagtinge oortref!
WiFi would be very nice, signal quite weak. Very friendly 2 ladies working there. Communicated with us in advance.
indoor fire on a cold evening was a joy. All that bothered were the taps that could not be fully shut off.
Wow! The unit is extremely comfortable and very stylishly furnished. The frogs singing at night and the abundance of birds was a bonus. Janette and Betjie are two gems. I wish I could retire in the Barber House! Jackal dancing is definitely my new happy place.
We want back. Cozy farmhouse. Friendly hostess. With the wonderful experience of rain in the Karoo - and quite a lot of it.
Dit is seker een van die netjiesste plase wat ek al gesien het. Met die droogte lyk alles nog perfek. Dit is 'n moet as mens deur Loxton ry.
We really enjoyed the time at Jakhalsdans. We were kindly welcomed, the peaceful farm environment was so nice after a long day on the road. The house is truly beautiful. And the freshly grilled cakes were a great treat. Will definitely stay there again.
The accommodation and service were 5 star. Bettie made sure we felt right at home. The braai suit we pre-ordered was off the books. Savor delicious salads and genuine Karoo lamb chops with a sausage. The sunrise was magical. If you want to come and stay at Jakkalsdans, we would advise that you do not turn off the R381 at Beaufort-Wes, it is a 104 km dirt road. Rather take the longer route through Victoria West, then it is only a 7 km dirt road from Loxton to the guest house.
The rooms and facilities are excellent and the farm and surroundings beautiful!
We missed a small dining table and 2 chairs inside in place of unnecessary and pointless cushion type coffee table and decor inside. Was very uncomfortable sitting on the high bar stools at the cement counter due to no legroom underneath. Winter evenings too cold for outdoor dining.
We stayed in the Langhuis/ Hunters Cottage. It was cosy and spacious but probably not the best choice for families with young kids as there aren't any curtains (only blinds) which made putting kids to sleep in the summer tough. There is also not a door on the end room between the TV and lounge which meant we weren't able to utilise the space after the kids went to sleep. Probably not a problem with older kids. We did book late so beggars can't be choosers and we did really enjoy our stay. I can see it would be an amazing place to stay for hunters visiting the farm or couples with older kids. Farm itself was awesome. We saw zebra, springbok, eiland and gemsbok.
Glad they accepted dogs, nice on the working farm, expensive for the actual accommodation.
Two faucets in the bathroom and kitchen were loose and leaking. We couldn't get the television set to work. We completely respect that there is a convenience premium to pay if you order meals from a self-catering place, but still thought it was too expensive.
Everything went smoothly. The little places are so tastefully decorated, with everything you need and more. It was a real treat to be able to spend the night there.
Excellent value for money. Couldn't have asked for better.
Hakhalsdans is a nice place to stay. We ordered delicious food and snacked on it in the kitchen of the old homestead in which we stayed.
Extremely nice for our family! Children enjoy the farm and animals. Accommodation is 100%
Nice stay. Apart from the first 5 km from Loxton which is a bit poor, the rest of R381 to Beaufort West (which is partly tarred) is very scenic.
The old house is an absolute gem - truly authentic and filled with gorgeous antiques, Linda has impeccable taste, the house is furnished beautifully. I wanted to stay for much longer, there is so much more to explore. As my husband was riding his bicycle, Nicola gave him advice on a route through the farm - big thank you! Betjie and Janette are two of the most generous, beautiful people I have ever met. The food they provided for the braai was the best I have had in an extremely long time, these ladies know their business. Well worth the trip there - I would love to go back.
See rating.
We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at Jakhalsdans - everything was perfect. The Skeerdershuis is beautifully renovated and tastefully decorated - warm on a chilly winters night with all the amenities one could wish for. Linda, the owner, was warm and welcoming as was Janette who looked after us well. We will plan to visit again with friends and stay longer to enjoy the farm and get full benefit of the accommodation offered.
Jakhalsdans is a beautiful place - rest for the soul.
It was amazing to grill in the old kitchen's stove.
Als was beautiful. Just a pity the road is so bad, but understand it is very dry. It is very peaceful there.
Beautiful place. Loved the quietness. Jeanette's fresh bread and salad were impeccable!
Beautiful and safe place. Pet friendly. A wonderful getaway between nothing and nowhere. The facilities are very nice and the scenery is something to behold. We had a wonderful stay, barbecued and slept, comfortable with our animals.
This is a hidden gem. The place's decor is exquisite and stylish. The food was delicious! We are definitely going back.
Fantastic, neat and safe. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Very pleasant stay with excellent facilities. Jeanette's kindness and her fresh bread were unbeatable.
Rooms are beautiful and luxurious. Environment very nice. We didn't have time to explore the farm better, but for sure a recommendation for someone visiting the Loxton area. Dinner was tasty and large portions. Breakfast was delivered and we could cook ourselves, which is a very good idea. Would like to see larger portions for breakfast. The bread is recommended. The people next door were a bit noisy, which stole the silence of our expected Karoo experience. There were people hunting and we would definitely recommend it to hunters. Looks very nice.
Great place to stay. Most beautiful farm! Showering in the old homestead is authentic but not nice. I would put in a better shower head. Baue thank you for a great visit - what a place!
Jakhalsdans' hospitality and peaceful atmosphere gave rise to a wonderful break in the Karoo. The barber's house completely met our requirements. It was private and the farm atmosphere, friendly staff and dogs made us feel at home. We will visit Jakhalsdans again if the opportunity arises.
It's a beautiful farm and we really enjoyed our time there! Our kids enjoyed the space - especially because they could ride bikes! The decor is very beautiful - thank you for a lovely place.
We will definitely stay here again. The self-catering breakfast was delicious and the overall service was great!
