We enjoyed our stay at Jakkalsdraai, even if it was only for one night. The only downside is unfortunately the mattress - the green room is beautiful and has everything one is looking for and one of the most important items is a good mattress, so you can have a great night's rest. I already struggle with back problems myself, so it was a bit disappointing when we went to bed that night and the mattress was already a bit worn and the springs were soft. All that has to happen is that they have to get a new mattress for the Green Room then everything is great!

There are times stipulated for hot water to shower. When we wanted to shower after 8pm, as stipulated for our unit, there was no water for us to shower with. Can't complain about anything else though.

We really enjoyed our one night stay in one of the guest house's rooms. The house's old character is beautifully captured with complimentary decor and convenient modern adaptations. Jakkalsdraai provided a safe and very pleasant stay, just what we needed to rest properly before heading back to our next destination the next day. The customer service was excellent and we definitely can recommend the guesthouse. We did not have a trailer, but if the accommodation was fully booked and all the parking spaces were taken up, space for a trailer could be slightly problematic.

We visited Potchefstroom to enroll our son at NWU. It was a busy time and Susan was kind enough to drop us off and pick us up at the university as parking is always a big problem during the day. The rooms are beautifully clean and tidy. With nice extras like enough coffee and milk, not just one bag per person! Bottles of water, biscuits and chocolate on your pillow make you feel special. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. But I have to say the bed we slept on was the nicest and most comfortable I've ever slept on in a guest house! A quality mattress with an orthopedic sponge top layer ensures a wonderful night's rest. And to top it all off it's a king size bed! Delicious air cooling in a very hot Potchefstroom was a relief after a long day of running around from one venue to another at NWU. Our stay there was wonderful and we will definitely use it again when we visit our son.

We had a wonderful overnight stay. All the negative feedback I can give was that on Friday night at 21:00 there were people walking up and down the stairs and it sounded like they were looking for something, doors opened and closed and again later there was a very loud conversation between 2 women who we could hear clearly in our room, except for that, it was pleasant thank you.
The Blue room is comfortable and convenient and the decor is exceptionally beautiful, as a single traveler I had everything I needed, air conditioner for heat, Potch is cold in winter, bedding nice and clean, coffee making station and TV with full DStv especially the sports channels as the Netball World Cup was on during my stay, my room had a bath (big and long with boiling water) and a separate toilet. Susan and her staff are really friendly and hospitable without being extravagant, the breakfast was definitely a 5 star plus and for R70 value for money. I really enjoyed my stay, and will definitely stay there again next time. The detail caught my eye, extras that remind you of fancy hotels, there was a decanter with sherry in my room, also water next to my bed with goodies. If I could make a recommendation I would say, invest in nice towels too, that's basically all I missed and maybe tissues and a hair dryer. Other than that, great.

They really went the so-called extra mile for us. We took a vehicle for our son who studies in Potch and had to be at the bus back home until 19:30 on Sunday evening, they allowed us to stay there until we had to leave.

The guest house is nice and close to the hump and campus which worked well for me studying part-time. I could comfortably sit there all day and work. The service was very good. Big plus that I could park my car safely inside the yard without having to struggle to get in and out.

We were welcomed with a glass of sherry and had a nice bath. There was only a hand shower in the bath, but everything was clean and tidy. The rooms are not very soundproof and we heard someone coughing all night, but it was not very disturbing. Our two toddlers may have bothered other guests in the early hours of the morning. The bed and bedding slept very well. The breakfast was average.
Conveniently located near the NWU campus. Beautiful, neat room (Green room) with a large bathroom and shower. The room is quite small but perfect for the overnight single traveler or couple. Unfortunately right next to the kitchen which is somewhat noisy early in the morning. Breakfast is delicious! Definitely value for money. Will definitely recommend.

Breakfast was poor. No options, no cereals available. On the last day, the dining room was overcrowded and we did not have breakfast.
Bathroom was not en suite as stated during booking. Was a private bathroom, but had to walk down the hall to get there - extremely inconvenient if one had to visit the bathroom at night. Bathroom window was broken. I couldn't sleep on the bed because the mattress was hollow. So tried to sleep on the floor that night instead. When we left the next morning at 08:30 only kitchen staff were available and we could not discuss the problems with the management. I think the rates are excessive considering the amenities.

It was a pleasant experience. I would rather stay in another room in the future, I was in the Green Room which is directly next to the kitchen, and was already woken up by the kitchen activities at 05:40 in the morning. Other than that I have no other complaints.

Accommodation is offered in nine units, eight of which have en-suite bathrooms and one of which has a private separate bathroom. Four of the nine units have self-catering facilities, namely the 2-bedroom cottage, family room, golden room (wheelchair friendly) and the yellow room. Many in-room amenities are part of the rooms as to make your stay comfortable.
Breakfast is available at an additional cost. Guests are welcome to make use of the swimming pool and the braai facilities. Book the braai-area in adavnce. The guest house offers secure parking.
