Guests can go hiking in the local hills and up the river bed itself; the river is seasonal and may or may not be running, drought dependent.
The nearby town of Vanwyksdorp has a wonderful Spekboom restaurant and a coffee shop. Arts and crafts can be viewed and purchased at either of these locations, and there is a local soap factory and olive farm for guests to visit in the area as well.

3 guests' feedbackIt was fine as a budget location and did have the swimming pool to cool down.
The reception was friendly. It is not indicated that there are no power points. The braai facilities are in poor condition. Full of holes and rusted apart. The campsite is full of waste products. Ablution and toilets are dirty. 2 toilets, one of which was external. The camping area is not maintained. Bathroom window is broken and covered with plastic. It is clear that the facilities are not cleaned regularly. Road to campsite is challenging and not suitable for normal road caravans. The whole campsite needs an urgent upgrade.
Untidy, dirty, broken and a misrepresentation of what is advertised. Emails and photos were sent to website with no response. Option for review is not on Jakkalskloof's web page.
