87 guests' feedbackBenita and her team welcomed us with real farm hospitality! The units are beautifully and practically equipped, being able to walk and admire nature is special and the swimming pool at each unit was a pleasure! We went for a research break and enjoyed every moment!
We had a festival at Jakkalsroep. We were 4 families with toddlers. It was nice that the children could move around freely without parents having to be behind them all the time. We went for a walk in the forest and saw zebras. Beautiful sunrise and sunset!
Jakalsroep is very good value for money and was just what we needed! We stayed in Unit 2 - the cottage was very neat and clean and had a well equipped kitchen (for our needs) with a nice big fridge and freezer! The braai on the stoep was a hit and we spent most of the time at the house there and at sunset we sat and watched the wildlife that came to drink. Nice close to Dinokeng - the dirt road was in good condition and we went in every day and spent a lot of time in the reserve. Forwarded a nice video that pretty much answered all my questions up front and made it clear how everything looks. The only negative was the foot end of the double bed made it difficult to sleep for me (but only because I'm over 2m tall).
Lovely campsite with boma and pool. The private ablutions are modern and clean. The hosts are so friendly and accommodating and would highly recommend this getaway.
We had a ladies break at Jakkalsroep. Our cottage was clean and tidy with everything one would need. We were pleasantly surprised with fresh milk, biscuits, muffins, sweeties and hot water bags. It is a peaceful getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can enjoy walking or cycling. There is even a swimming pool for the hot summer days.
Jakkelsroep is a beautiful place in the heart of nature, with a peaceful atmosphere that is perfect for a weekend getaway. The accommodation is well maintained and offers a view that feeds the soul. The staff is friendly and very helpful. It is an ideal destination for relaxation and experiencing nature.
We had a wonderful stay and the weekend was too short. Beautiful farm and neat accommodation and our hostess welcomed us well and everything was 100%.
Had a lovely stay. It's super affordable and neat. My daughter's 14, 11, and 10 all enjoyed their stay. All 3 took a liking to the animals, especially the horses, and had something to look forward to. We didn't need to leave the accommodation for entertainment elsewhere, which was a plus for me. It's relaxing and very close to game lodges with beautiful restaurants.
Our family had a wonderful stay at Jakkelsroep. We enjoyed the serenity and view of the animals and sunset the most. Our unit was beautiful inside, equipped with everything you will need. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for a lovely stay.
We had a wonderful stay at Jakkalsroep. It was quiet, peaceful and private. The unit is comfortably furnished, nice, neat and clean. We were spoiled with juice, muffins and delicious biscuits. Was able to spend quality time with the family. For the price it is very good value for money and I can definitely recommend it!
Jackal call is exactly what we needed. Breathtaking sunsets, silence and just being together as a family. Most beautiful accommodation and everything you need. We will surely "escape" again soon to the place to recharge our batteries.
We had a wonderful, peaceful stay at Jakkalsroep. The accommodation was perfect. A little slice of true African bush with magical African sunsets. We will definitely go back.
Great, lovely place, great venue and unit, would have liked to stay longer but couldn't.
What a beautiful place. So peaceful and beautiful. The sunset is breathtaking. The animals are so close to the watering hole and so beautiful to look at. Was a feast for the eyes. We really enjoyed it and will go back again. Thank you so much for sharing your little gem with us.
Had a very nice and comfortable stay.
Jakkelsroep was the perfect weekend getaway, we loved the tranquility away from the city noise. The campsite was very large, with lovely big trees for lots of shade.
It was very peaceful and everything we needed was available to us without any hassle. The breakfast was lovely, and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit again.
We had a lovely stay. The hostess is great. We were welcomed with lovely fresh muffins, juice and fresh milk in the fridge on arrival. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and watching the animals from our verandah.
It was so peaceful. Our hostess was very friendly and helpful. Would recommend the accommodation if you just want to get away, and you don't have to drive too far. Enjoyed it a lot. Thank you.
Very nice place, very quiet. Benita is very hospitable and friendly!
Very nice place! Clean, tidy, quiet and private. We felt very much at home and had a good rest. Thank you very much, we will definitely see you again!
Very nice stay, place is quiet and beautiful.
It was delicious. Everything was beautifully clean and tidy. Nice pampering with sweets on the bed, biscuits etc.
Very calm and relaxed; we could have a nice walk and enjoy the nature around us. The owners are incredibly hospitable.
Yes, very peaceful and nice.
Nestled amidst nature's embrace, our recent camping experience was nothing short of a five-star adventure that left us rejuvenated and yearning for more. From the moment we pitched our tents to the final flicker of the campfire, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations. The campsite's picturesque surroundings were a feast for the eyes. Waking up to the soft rustle of leaves and the melody of birdsong was a serene and soul-soothing experience. The campsite's facilities were impeccable, combining rustic charm with modern convenience. Clean and well-maintained restrooms, ample water supply, and thoughtfully designed common areas enhanced our camping experience. As nightfall descended, the expansive canvas of the night sky unfurled its splendor. With minimal light pollution, the stars above were a breathtaking celestial display. In summary, our stay was a five-star journey into nature's embrace. We left with our hearts full, our spirits lifted, and a newfound appreciation for the beauty that nature graciously shares with those willing to seek it out. A truly unforgettable camping experience that earns a well-deserved five stars!
We had a wonderful rest, everything was very tidy and were nicely decorated with cupcakes (from the top shelves) and juice when we got there. Nothing is too much trouble and we will definitely be going back. Thank you!
We booked both campsites even though we were only 4 people. The two private bathrooms are in the same building with two doors on either side, so if you have to share the campsite, you and the neighbors will see each other often. There are two lapas far apart, each with a table and 4 chairs, but the pool, boma, playground, electrical connection, faucet and dish sinks are shared. The grounds are cleaned every day. There are very bad thorns (Acacia trees), so for small children you should bring good shoes. The last kilometer before you turn off towards the farm, the road is heavily corrugated. We will definitely camp there again. It is secluded, but not too far from Pretoria, and Dinokeng Game Reserve's Tsukulu Gate is very close.
Fantastic, peaceful stay. Everything you need, home. The aircon and the WiFi are a bonus. The carrot cake, juice, and rusk are really appreciated. The place is very neat and the hostess is friendly, helpful and you feel like you are walking away from friends. She makes a lot of effort for her guests and it is much appreciated. We will definitely visit again. I left a piece of my 2023 sadness behind in the woods. Thanks for everything!
Jakkelsroep is a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing place. We really enjoyed our stay there. A downside is the dirt roads you need to traverse to get to Jakkelsroep -- most of them are in quite rough condition, though this is likely because of the dry weather so will hopefully improve soon. We don't have any regrets though, would highly recommend staying at Jakkelsroep. (While you're there, make sure you visit the Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary nearby, it's fantastic!).
Our stay was wonderful and relaxing. Our hosts were very accommodating and provided great tips for self-drive safari options and activities in the area. The highlight was seeing the many animals at the watering hole just across the way from our unit. A wonderful place for a weekend getaway.
What a great campsite! So peaceful and in the woods, yet all the amenities you need.
Very nice stay. If you are looking for a quiet place, this is the place for you.
Very pleasant stay. Spacious accommodation and very well equipped.
The accommodation is still new and well thought out. Very comfortable, and everything available, from aircon to fans. The small splash pool came in very handy as it was excruciatingly hot. Nice cycling and hiking trails, and also see some ostriches, warthogs, and goats from the cottage. Owners and staff are very friendly, helpful and willing to go out of their way. We forgot firelighters. The owner brought us 20h50. Now that says it all! We would definitely recommend the accommodation. Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend!
Although unfortunately we had to come home a day early due to damage to our house, we really enjoyed our visit there. Benita is a wonderful hostess who goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. The chalets are clean and tidy and very well furnished.
Thank you for the good hospitality.
Had a wonderful rest and relaxation as a family. Just what we needed after a busy term. Very peaceful place and because there are few people you see, you can switch off and appreciate nature. Very close to Dinokeng. The facilities are cleaned every day and the staff are friendly. Ordered some bags of wood and they are delivered to your tent.
If you are looking for silence and rest, this is the ideal place.
Yes, we have it was a blessing so in nature.
We had a very nice stay. We were warmly received with juice and cupcakes. The whole family also came to say hello. The house is very neat and there is enough for the children to do. The animals were also around all the time (ostriches, zebras, turkeys, etc.) and in the evening we could hear the fox calling. Very nice place for family and friends.
This place is incredible! We saw lots of fantastic wildlife on the farm and it is only a short drive to Dinokeng Game Reserve. The unit was clean and the owners put a lot of effort into making our stay a memorable one. I will definitely be visiting again. Eenheid 2 is a new chalet and it is absolutely beautiful!
We had a very nice stay. We received welcome snacks and juice when we arrived, which is a first for us. The units are very nicely done and well furnished. We also really enjoyed the boma that evening. Enough playground for children, climbing frame and trampoline. Game can also be seen from the porch. Dinokeng is also 7km away which we visited. Owners are very friendly and very accommodating.
Our weekend was just what we needed. Beautiful scenery, the serenity was lovely. Accommodation top class with very special hosts. Seeing the black impala was something we have never seen, although we have been on countless bush holidays, including Kruger Park. Would definitely go back. Thank you.
The hosts were friendly and willing to assist with everything. Very nice people.
A lot of attention was paid to detail and both the house and campsite were very tidy. The WiFi and air conditioning in the house was very valuable.
I would go back anytime. Nice Boereplaas played on the stoep. Was a lovely weekend. Also drove to Arlington.
Very neat accommodation with freshly baked muffins and juice that welcomed us as we walked in. Everything one needs for cooking and more can be found in the kitchen. The walk among the animals did us good before we calmly watched the sun go down with a glass of wine in hand around the fire.
What a lovely place to stay for a peaceful, quiet weekend! Friendly helpful hosts. The muffins and juice were a pleasant treat. Spacious, well-equipped, and totally relaxing. Would have loved to stay longer!
Great getaway, comfortable, very tidy and great service.
The house is so charming and unexpectedly warm. We were greeted by Benita on arrival with muffins and lovely juice waiting for us. This really was a welcoming surprise. The inside of the house is very clean and the yard is really well kept. We loved the fire pit and my son loved playing in your garden. The zebras at the watering hole in the mornings are also such a special sight. I cannot fault this accommodation an dit is truly value for money!
We usually camp for tranquility and to be more part of the bush. Jakkelsroep was a pleasant spoil and yet still very private and peaceful. Animals on site and only a few minutes down the road to access Dinokeng Reserve. We will definitely be back.
Very friendly reception with a delicious sandwich and nice juice. We also really enjoyed Sparkey and the nice cold pool, it was really nice to get off the hot netball at Sportisimo and cool off. The picnic was also lovely to watch the sunset. Thanks again for everything.
Just the place to relax and enjoy nature. Thank you very much Benita and Minette, your hospitality was just another plus in a fantastic place. You will definitely see us again. Just a little difficult to walk around the house barefoot, quite a lot of devils. Otherwise it's great.
It was a lovely intimate time with my family and Benita accommodated us beyond expectations. We had a great appreciation for that.
We enjoyed every second at this campsite! Very private and clean. The bathrooms were lovely. It was really incredible to wake up so fully submerged in nature with zebras and blue wildebeest running through the camp. The owners are super friendly and go above and beyond to make you comfortable. I would recommend this campsite to everyone!
We really enjoyed it. It's so peaceful. The house is very beautiful and tidy. We were spoiled with muffins, rusks and delicious fruit juice. Those next to the house are friendly and the watering hole for the animals is close to the house. There is a long dirt road to get to the cottage, but the road is nicely scraped. Thank you very much, you have a gem of a place.
Very nice place in the forest. Silence and clean air. Our unit was exceptional. Very neat, spacious, clean and very well equipped with everything you will need. Owners are pleasant, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the cupcakes and cookies that were waiting for us on arrival. It was a bonus to be able to drive through the game camp and enjoy something cool at the picnic area. We will definitely go again.
Lovely accommodation, superbly fitted with everything you would need for your stay. Benita was the most excellent host, lovely welcoming juice and muffins. Beautiful location, peaceful and just a short drive to Dinokeng.
I will always recommend Jakkalsroep Accommodation. Everything I expect from accommodation. Clean, tidy, everything you need is there. My any negative comment could be the flies. It was very bad. Grew up on a farm myself and know how it can be a problem, but it wasn't pleasant. Maybe they can also install a mesh door at the front door.
Was exactly what one would expect from a forest break to sit around the fire with a beautiful sky full of stars. There was a private pool, boma area with a lapa, safe play area for the children, comfortable cycling and walking among the animals for any age and fitness. Very clean washing up and ablution with a washing line and solar lights, barbecue and ablution were cleaned every day, very friendly service. Will definitely come back again, value for money.
We were very kindly welcomed to a beautiful and neat clean unit. So much extra is done for the guests. Will definitely visit them again.
The apartment is beautiful. Clean and tidy with everything you need. The place is quiet and peaceful. Food for the soul.
Friendly reception. Good communication with owner/agent.
Neat, clean and friendly staff and owners.
Basically no cell phone signal even when there is no load shedding. The free wifi's code is wrong on 2 phones plus laptop, error for sure with router. When gas geyser's flame went out no one was available because there is no phone signal and the owner was out for the day, so half the weekend sat with cold water until we ourselves discovered how to relight the flame. Suggest a small inverter with battery and correct wifi code can solve communication problem. Otherwise had a good, peaceful weekend.
We had a great time at Jakkelsroep. The silence is incredible. The house is very neat and comfortable. Everything you need is there. However, for longer visits I think an oven in the kitchen would be a good thing. However, I think Minette goes far beyond expectations with everything she provides for her guests. Towels, I think people can bring their own. Biscuit soap, bring your own. The delicious muffins, save your money, you spoil the people hopelessly too much. But thank you very much, it was a lovely visit.
Accommodation was equipped with everything needed.
We really enjoyed our stay. Was lovely being in outdoors, close to nature. Staff was very friendly. We also received some lovely muffins and juice on our arrival. Would recommend to anybody. The unit was also clean and the kitchen had everything we needed.
Indications on the way could improve, especially if Google Maps does not work due to loadshedding and poor reception.
What a lovely place to relax! Campsite, pool and bathrooms are nice and clean! Children had fun swimming and riding their bikes around! We will definitely camp here again!
Nice peaceful atmosphere, feels like farm life. Neat, modern, two bedroom home, braai area with boma. Playground for children, a tame Blesbok, Sparkie, was the children's highlight. Hospitality of the owners was impressive. Will go again when we need rest for our soul.
We came back with the children. As always, great! Benita and her family spare no effort to make you feel at home. And the new additions are excellent! The forest pool with ablution is really an excellent idea. We farmed in the pool! Always nice to visit there on Jakkelsroep.
Our family had a lovely weekend at this beautiful place. The neat, clean house has everything you could possibly need on a farm in the bushveld. There are farm animals and different game species and at night you can of course hear the foxes in the silence. Benita and family were very hospitable and pampered us. This is truly a gem and we will definitely be seeing you again soon!
Will book again for sure.
From arrival to departure it was a feast, more than enough space for our small family. We really enjoyed ourselves. The one night was just too little, but well worth it. I will definitely come again. I now know what to expect and will bring less because of all that is provided. 10 out of 10.
We really enjoyed it at Jakkelsroep. There was plenty to do for our children. Everyone is very hospitable. Efforts are made to make it comfortable for guests.
Jakkelsroep pleasantly surprised us. From the deliciously cool rooms with arrival and welcome drinks and snacks, to the juice and muesli for breakfast. Benita and her family go out of their way to make the visit as welcome as possible. The place is very neat and equipped. We were there as friends, but have already decided to take the children with us next time. They are going to enjoy it very much. The highlight is when you get up early and sit outside on the comfortable chairs with your cup of coffee and watch the wildlife come to drink water, just a few meters in front of you.
Benita and her team has a winning recipe for letting you feel welcome, we had a awesome stay. The service is next level and the accommodation clean and neat. We had all we were promised and more. We will visit again.
We had such a lovely time. The farm animals kept my son busy and everyone was so friendly. Will definitely be back.
Our kids had so much fun spending time outdoors and with the animals on the farm.
Very neat house. Will visit again for sure.
Highly recommended visit. Spacious, comfortable and very cosy.
The farm life during the day and night sounds at night make you realize anew how much you need to get away from the city and find yourself again. The tranquility of farm life during the day and foxes calling early at night was exactly what we needed. You are back in nature again and we as a family have spent quality time together again.
Our family had a great time staying there. Thank you for the extra effort and hospitality.
More equipped than most places I've stayed overnight. No complaints really.
