Everything was neat and tidy and our guests were top notch. They made us feel comfortable and if anything was needed, they were there to help. The supply of wood and blitz and just a whole pack of ice was extra special. Only minor inconvenience was the double bed. The base cracked a bit and I felt the inner springs of the mattress. Was a bit uncomfortable.
It was just two days of peace and rest. We were received with open arms. Nothing out of place. Had a great sleep, made a big fire and just relaxed on Jantjieskraal's yard. It's our people. Thank you for such a privilege!
We were there during the flower season and the flowers were breathtaking and the delicious sweet smells of fynbos were everywhere. If you love birds, there is a paradise of different birds - during the day and at night. There is great walking and the farm is very safe. We never felt scared. The farmer's house is also only a few meters away.
The owners were wonderfully hospitable, helpful and friendly hosts. The environment itself forces busy city dwellers to deeply relax and take in the nature, silence, and animal life. The 2km walk to the Berg River was an easy, beautiful and educational outing (there is even a picnic spot by the river if you want to linger there for a while). The cool little house made for fun on the 30+ degree days, so even in midsummer it's a nice getaway. I will go again!
Very friendly hosts, 2 separate units connected by an open stoep (patio): kitchen/lounge and bedroom/bathroom. Very peaceful, a birding paradise.
We loved our stay at Jantjieskraal. The birdsong at dawn and dusk. The farm animal sounds. The walk to the Berg River. The sunset bench at the big tree. The fynbos. The cute little cottage. Thank you Ilze and Giel for sharing you beautiful farm with others. We would love to visit again one day!
On a farm, goats bleating and cows lowing, lovely scenery. Very quiet for the person who wants to get away from the city's hustle and bustle.
The cottage was comfortable and cosy. The hosts are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Ilze makes a lot of effort to pass on information that predicts that the visit will meet our expectations. Friendly reception, everything was as in the photos, clean and tidy. Lots of wood with which we could keep away the winter cold and hang out until late at night. Lovely walk and enjoying nature. Would just prefer the cottage to be further from the main house, overlooking the field.
Had so much fun with the lambs as well with the farm animals.
The cottage is the ideal getaway for peace and quiet, with the silence and beautiful surroundings. The braai place is a cozy space for visiting.
What a beautiful little place to stay! For 2 people who just want to get away, such a farm is a real resting place. Very friendly people. Everything we needed was there. It's a shame we couldn't stay a few more days.

We had a great time. Nice comfortable place and beautiful surroundings - especially for those who like to walk. Lots of birds, especially owls and waterfowl at the river. House is well sheltered from the strong wind. Nice braai facilities and wood are also provided. Water is salty and drinkable, but fresh water was also provided. Everything is beautifully clean and there were cards and board games to play. Limited cell phone reception. Very safe environment. The owners were always available to quickly sort out any problems that arose. Just bring everything you might need with you, because it's quite a long dirt road out of town.
Jantjieskraal is the place if you are looking for silence. The owners are the friendliest and most pleasant people. The cottage is neat and comfortable. We really enjoyed the visit.

The cottage on Giel and Ilse's farm is beautiful, we had a great time talking, grilling, relaxing and the 2 sheepdogs were just the cherry on the cake. Feeling like you are at home. This is a gem. The house is very artistic and it's lovely to sit and admire the plants and garden too!
Something different, really away from it all. Not near a town, so bring everything. Can walk down the dirt road in complete peace and quiet. We saw turtles, all kinds of birds and insects.
It is a wonderful place of rest and relaxation. Peace to your soul. What a gem. Ilze and Giel are wonderful hosts, and the visiting guest comes first! We will definitely visit there again.
Dear people, silence and openness that you have to experience to believe. Here it is easy to feel as if you are the last people on earth - and yet it is too nice. The children enjoyed every moment. The weekend was far too short and none of us felt like going home yet.
Good for getting away from noise.
Ilse and Giel are the nicest people, go out of their way to make everything nice, nothing too much trouble. Everything in the house very neat and clean. Will definitely want to come back with our grandchildren for the farm experience.
Ilze and Giel go to great lengths to make guests' stay as comfortable as possible. Comfortable cottage, enough blankets for the winter cold and a large supply of wood to make a fire. Very safe, I could easily walk around alone in the dark to photograph stars.
Had a very nice time at Jantjieskraal, I intend to definitely go there again.

The cottage is very close to the farmhouse and this allows little space for privacy. The kitchen is only accessible from the porch, which also contributes to little privacy. Getting dressed early in the morning before you can go make coffee is a bit awkward. Nice chairs on the porch would also be welcome. The dirt road was well scraped, but was tiring for us. The hosts are lovely and made us feel very much at home! We enjoyed the farm animals and the multitude of birds!

A cute little farmhouse cottage away from the busy lifestyle of the city. We were warmly welcomed by Ilze and her husband and everything was ready for us as we got there. We had a relaxed evening around the fire while taking in the fresh air and surroundings.

It was very nice to visit Uncle Giel and Aunt Ilse on their beautiful farm and my little girl really enjoyed giving milk to the lambs. They as very friendly people and it is very nice to stay there.
Jantjieskraal is a holiday, not for activities other than reading. This is where you switch off and enjoy the space. Excellent farm holiday, children have space and you can relax and if you have to, drive to the sea for the day.
It was very nice! Very peaceful and very beautiful. Plenty of wood and friendliness. I would have just said in the description of accommodation that you stay 50 m from the owners. Would have been nice if we were alone. In description, they can only say you can see owners' home. Would also have provided larger kitchen equipment. Cooking for 4 people in that small pot and pan is difficult. Ilze and Giel are very friendly and kind.
Oom Giel was a fantastic host. Patience of a saint with our kids! Kids fed the lammertjies every morning and evening. He showed us the owl house with skulls underneath. Lots of interesting things to explore on the farm. The river is close by and great for swimming and canoeing. Comfortable place to stay, with all necessities. An awesome break away from the craziness of life!
We had a great time and the children fed the baby lambs with a bottle. It was lovely to hear the farm sounds late into the night and we saw the most breathtaking sunset and sunrise. Just note that the two rooms are not connected.
Quaint cottage perfect for an overnight if you are exploring the area. Basic and adequate with a bonus of a lekker working farm experience and dog (Bella). We 4 sisters enjoyed the intimate cottage, and simplicity. Would be great for a August/September visit to the flowers and surrounds. Very central.
At first glance it doesn't look like much. However, we had a great time relaxing with the boys (5,7) who enjoyed it. They helped the uncle farm with sheep. The river was once again clay-laced and rowed and brought the playfulness. As a family we will definitely go back again. Recommendation, bring your own camp chairs.
We were pleasantly surprised and satisfied with everything. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home and welcome. The cottage is equipped with all necessities and the children enjoyed all the animals and canoeing on the Bergriver.
