The room was luxurious - no kidding! Spacious and very comfortable; spotlessly clean and well-prepared. I was a little concerned at first that there was not a kitchenette in it, but the host showed us to the kitchen in the main house, just a door away from our room. The host made every effort to welcome us and make us feel at home.

The host was very good, waited for our very late arrival, and it was very cold. The unit is very damp. I took photos. Unhealthy to breathe in these conditions. Very noisy in the morning. It seemed that the room was part of another unit, had a door closed, and we could hear the talking and TV.
Jasmine Cottages accommodation is just what we needed to break the long road between Gauteng and East London. Our host, Donald, was incredibly hospitable and welcomed us warmly and made us feel right at home. The accommodation is top notch and we "slept like hell".

Don was a wonderful host. We had everything we needed, snacks, tea, and cereals but the best part is the beautiful rooms at this cottage. Beautiful Victorian feel.
We were travelling with our 7-month-old baby and the host kindly offered us a room with a bath at no extra cost.
We had such a pleasant stay - our host reached out to us prior to arrival to wish us a safe trip, which we really appreciated. On arrival we received a warm and friendly welcome. Beautiful garden and well maintained buildings. The room was clean, neat and spacious. We loved all the attention to detail within the room. Will highly recommend this hidden gem.
We loved the time we spent here. The host, Don, was very friendly and a good host. The room was beautiful and it is obvious that a lot of care has been taken to make one's stay comfortable. A lazy sundowner on the verandah ended a busy but productive weekend for us. We will certainly consider this overnight stay on our travels again.

A lovely, peaceful stay. We arrived with a warm welcome by wonderful host Donald. Fresh fruit, tea, coffee and a selection of cereals were available in our cottage. The beds were comfortable and the whole cottage is spotless and clean. Had the best pizza down the road and met some lovely, friendly people. Had a wonderful break and will definitely visit again.

Don is such a friendly host. Unfortunately, the property has no backup power and so this is not ideal in the current loadshedding situation. The power also pumps water so there was no water. Our host did inform us about this so it was not a problem but just something to keep in mind if booking the property.

The location is opposite informal settlement and feels unsafe. Our room was inside the house and not a cottage. Location feels unsafe. We found a room in the house that smelled like smoke. We thought we were going to have a private cottage as per the ad. The village is very remote and neglected.
Being provided with fresh fruit, milk in the fridge, wine and fresh flowers is very welcoming. Everything in the rooms was very comfortable and aethically pleasing. Would certainly stay here again if overnighting in Smithfield.

Jasmine cottages is in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood, there was adequate hot water with a pump where other guesthouses in Smithfield had no water over the weekend. Jasmine cottages was an unexpected lovely stay in a town we usually just pass through. It is the perfect overnight stay, and Don is such a lovely host. There were more amenitites and thoughtful touches in the Jasmine cottages, than I have seen in a long time. Fresh fruit and chocolate on arrival, and even farm fresh milk and cereals. Jasmine Cottages was by far the most expensive of the 4 nights and the most disappointing. It is marketed as as an upmarket venue but it's got a bit of a run down feel about it. Load shedding is awful for everyone, but power was off in the morning and no option to make a cup of tea (a small gas burner would sort this). The water depends on electric pump which meant there was not a drop of water to brush my teeth in the morning and certainly no shower (even a cold one). Load shedding has been around long enough for some work arounds to be put in place for paying customers. Bathroom needs ventilation and has musty damp smell. Don was however a very decent and helpful chap.
We were received with kindness and were taken care of. Donald was very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped, the living area comfortable and the rooms spacious.

I wasn't sure what to expect in Smithfield and by Jasmine, but I was surprised! Jasmine was truly a nice place to stay. It was clean, tidy and with everything I needed. Upon arrival, the fresh fruit on the table was exceptional.

The accommodation unit is just right for overnight, for a day or more. It's the first place where coffee, tea, sugar, fresh milk, three types of breakfast cereal and fruit are available and it's not B&B accommodation - it's self-catering. Furthermore, there is a light device in case the power goes out, as well as mosquito repellent. There's just nothing to complain about. Had a wonderful stay for two nights. It's also a quiet area, no noise from neighbors or cars. Thank you very much Don West.
Jasmine Cottages is a good overnight stop to the Eastern Cape from Gauteng. The unit we slept in is not in the photos, and appears to have been built after the photo shoot. The unit in question sleeps 5 people, and is divided into 2 sections, which are semi-private. One section sleeps 3, and the other sleeps 2, separated by a middle door, each with its own bathroom. The back part of this does need work with the front door, which has been damaged by rain, and a fungus growing inside. The unit's bathroom roof also leaked, which was promptly repaired when we mentioned it. The exterior of the section also needs finishing and painting. Furthermore, the units are very comfortably furnished, with coffee-making facilities, milk and fruit. Pleasant overnight stay.
Kitchenette had coffee, tea, breakfast cereal and a fruit basket and ice in the freezer. The unit is beautifully decorated and DStv available.

We were pleasantly surprised with Jasmine Cottage. When the door opened in front of us, we couldn't believe what we were seeing! Beautifully decorated and equipped with all the essentials one can think of. Really well thought out. We did not meet the owner on arrival (due to a personal issue), but his warmth was reflected in the cottage. We did meet him the next day. We had a great time, and thoroughly enjoyed the real country atmosphere!

We specifically booked the Jasmine Cottage long in advance for 2 adults and our 3 dogs for our overnight stop. Jasmine Cottage was given to someone else and we were put into another cottage which was to a large extend still a construction site. We did not enjoy the fact that the cottage was in the process of being renovated and appeared to have someone else living in the space, with their toothbrush and used soaps in the bathroom, and food items in the fridge. I am sure that this cottage will be lovely once completed, but we were disappointed that this mess up came to our attention only 1 hour before arrival in Smithfield!

This is 5 star accommodation. Everything you would ever need and more. Our host was friendly and accommodating and would go to any lengths to please. Tastefully decorated, neat and clean as a pin. A very pleasant experience.
