Would recommend anyone to go to sun. You feel right at home and the owner is very friendly and she makes your stay very comfortable. Will go back again anytime.
We stayed over a weekend to enjoy Montagu and the surrounds - Easy check-in and a lovely house. We had all the amenities we were looking for - including WiFi. The kids enjoyed the pool although it was June and the braai area is great for a "kuier".
A traditional old school Montagu house, complete with creaking wooden floors. Great for a large group, but what's really nice is the backyard sun trap, complete with braai-lapa and beach pool! Heaven in summer.
Had a great time. Kids loved the pool. House is spacious with en-suite bathrooms in each room. Could just relax for a few days.
Our stay at John Montagu was perfect right from the point of arrival. Our host, Nadja, was super accommodating and friendly and made us feel right at home immediately. The house was in immaculate condition and we had absolutely no issues during our stay to make it unpleasant. We experienced one two hour load shedding session, which was not difficult at all as Nadja surprised us by dropping two lanterns for us. Although we could not make use of the pool due to the weather, we will certainly be back to enjoy it in the near future. A perfect 10 star rating would not be enough as all our expectations were pleasantly exceeded. We will also happily refer the house to all our friends and family. Thank you again Nadja, see you again soon!

The quick feedback from John, and René's hospitality ensured that we could have a lovely relaxing weekend. We met quite a few interesting tourists there and would happily recommend it to those who want to get away to enjoy a "no fuss no frills" weekend.

We stayed at the John Montagu Guesthouse on the way to Knysna, coming from Cape Town. Our host was friendly and served us well. The house did not meet our expectations and was not quite what we thought it would be, based upon the pictures and description.
The breakfast is delicious!
We really enjoyed the "view". Mountains brought a lot of calmness to us. It's a really good getaway, away from the city's noise and bustle. Everything was just perfect, from the room to the breakfast. The people are very friendly and very helpful, it was really appreciated. Thank you for a wonderful time spent. You will definitely see us again. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely peaceful overnight stay in Victorian opulence. The house has character. Safe neighborhood and walking distance to shops and restaurant. Good value for money.
