"Perfect overnight stop."

Absolutely fantastic, perfect overnight stop. From the moment we arrived everything was perfect, super friendly and efficient staff. Ice cold beers, delicious food. Highly recommend for an overnight stay.

After a long drive from Bloemfontein (SA), it was good to be able to sleep well. The beds are good, and everything was clean. Unfortunately, we did not have hot water in the morning to shower. The air conditioning unit works well. The adjacent restaurant provides drinks and meals.

All that was not nice is the pipes or pump noise when someone else uses water around us. We slept in room 5. In the morning there was no hot water to shower with.

Unit where we were: Door's lock was broken. Toilet water runs together. Had an unwanted visitor while we were sitting on the porch. Outside lights not all working.

Lived up to our expectations on convenience to the border. Immediately (I mean 50 m) after clearing Namibian immigration from SA (or before entering coming from Namibia) turn left and head over the railway crossing towards a very fancy Standard Bank branch. You are there.

"Bad road"

Staff are friendly and helpful. Road is a nightmare and is only suitable for 4x4 vehicles. We quickly got stuck in the sand with our Ford Tourneo van and trailer. Both the mobile and office numbers were not working when we called for help. We had to walk about 500 m to ask for help. We were quickly and professionally helped to get out of the sand. Obviously, I was not very happy about the road, especially after 11 hours of driving. There is another shorter path that does not have a risk of getting stuck.

"Mixed feelings."

The plus of Jolien's is that it is literally 100m from the border post - then again, also only 100m from the overnight parking of the long haul trucks. Fortunately, we are not bothered by it. This makes Jolien's suitable for an overnight stop after a long road and travel pains. We were there in a cold time. The stone room and the fact that the air conditioning could not heat, as well as the fact that we did not have hot water, did not really help. The room is tiny with two single beds and a bar fridge. There is a kettle with bottled water, but no coffee/tea/milk etc. not. The shower and toilet are open plan with only a short dividing wall to the room part, but open between the shower and toilet. The sink is also tiny with a small mirror placed too high for my wife to see into. There was no soap in the shower's liquid soap dispenser. We did not shower because of the cold water. Oddly enough, there is also only one folding chair for outside. The WiFi did not work within the room's stone walls. The beds and bedding are of good quality and we slept well. The dining room is neat and separate from the truck drivers' takeaway and sit-down area. Chef Jaco's dinner and breakfast (not included in the room rate) were affordable and top notch. We were also helped very nicely with a Namibian sim card and its insertion.

Jolien's is not really ideal as self-catering. There are actually no kitchen facilities. That said, they were very helpful in helping us with crockery, bowls, etc. so we could braai. However, we couldn't wash it for them because the sink in the bathroom is tiny.

The customer service is poor. There was no water in the morning and I could not get hold of anyone on the number given to us (after many attempts). The place needs to understand the reason people stay there for a bed and bathroom, so not having water is just like a bed without a mattress to me. There was no coffee and tea in the room: the manager told the helper to bring, but it never happened.

It's the perfect mid-point overnight stop if you're traveling from SA to Namibia. Good quality bedding and hospitable drivers! Would definitely recommend for travelers to Namibia especially with covid regulations between countries.

We got there in pouring rain. Large puddles of water around the accommodation areas made it a bit uncomfortable.

Basic overnight stay. Very comfortable and neat bedroom. We enjoyed a meal, which was of good quality. Unfortunately, the showers did not have hot water. However, this was a temporary problem and I am sure it was rectified as soon as we let the owner know. We left the next morning.

The road directions are totally wrong. Located directly at Namibia's border post. No hot water for shower on the 19th December 2021. No water whatsoever for shower or toilet on the 31st December 2021!

Please visit please the place. It's worth it. Have a nice rest just after the border post at Ariamsvlei. It is difficult to see the signs to the place, especially at night and the many trucks that park there. It was nice.

Rooms was clean and comfortable. Location very close to border with lots of trucks waiting overnight. We chose to have a quick braai and enjoy the sunset and it was pleasant.

Everything about it is perfect but the directions are appalling and no signage. It is right at the border. Literally as you leave the covered roof of the border turn left and it's 100 m away just across the railway line. We drove for 20 minutes at night, it was very stressful.

The rooms are small but comfortable and very good value for money. It is well located right next to the Ariamsvlei border post, which is especially helpful for travelers during the curfew, because you can be on the road very early. Even though it's right next to the main road, it's still pretty quiet despite all the trucks.

We had a great stay at Jolien's Rest Camp. The chalet was very neat and clean and the hostess very friendly and helpful. We will definitely book there again!
