Guests have a choice of booking the unique man-made Cave Suites, or the spacious thatched huts, all of which can accommodate between 2 to 4 people.
The Cave Suites were skilfully constructed to integrate with the natural sandstone formations; the facade of the Cave Suites is man-made, while the back interior wall is natural sandstone. Each Cave Suite is furnished with a double bed, and has an en-suite bathroom, and opens onto a small terrace with a view. The beautiful rock formations can be experienced up close in these man-made suites that blend into their environment seamlessly.
The spacious thatched huts at Kagga Kamma resemble the traditional dwellings of the San clans that inhabited the Reserve many years ago.
The lodge's restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but dinner at the outdoor boma under the night skies, is a highlight.
With a rich and fascinating cultural heritage, this spiritual land offers spectacular scenery, ancient rock art sites, amazing indigenous fauna and flora and phenomenal night skies; where the Milky Way, billions of stars, planets, satellites and shooting stars are set to amaze and delight.
Kagga Kamma is a veritable paradise for the more adventurous with fantastic mountain biking, 4x4 route, hiking, and gentle strolling opportunities too. Learn more about the plant and wildlife species that inhabit this arid area on guided open 4x4 excursions, with plenty of larger game, such as springbok, zebra and eland, and smaller, lesser-known but captivating indigenous critters, to be discovered.
Marvel at the Southern night skies on a stargazing tour, facilitated by an expert guide. The clear, dark skies of the Cederberg make this the perfect stargazing spot and guests can enjoy spectacular views of the Moon, stars, satellites, and planets, along with deep-sky objects like the Whirlpool Galaxy.
On Kagga Kamma’s famous Rock Art tours, guests are submerged in the enthralling cultural history of the area, during a guided exploration of the living sites of the ancient tribes that once lived here. Guest can also enjoy a quad bike adventure, which will take you to more remote, inaccessible parts of the reserve, or, a peaceful Sundowner Tour.

It was an amazing experience with great service! Would definitely recommend it.
The resort is beautiful and well taken care of. We had a lovely stay; the staff is friendly and extra helpful. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff for the delicious meals. Our car needed extra engine oil; the staff went out of their way to get the engine oil from Ceres.
It was a great stay, including a night at the star suite.
It was a trip worth every cent. Views are majestic and sleeping in a cave was an experience of a lifetime. Hospitality was top-tier, Khoi massage was so relaxing. We enjoyed the food at reasonable prices. It was a wholesome experience and this one will still remain on my bucket list, I wouldn't mind going back. A big shout out to everyone for making this possible for us, I strongly recommend travelling with them.
Very special accommodation in very special surroundings. Unique rock formations form the backdrop to this place. Bucket list stay.
Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve was just the perfect place to spend a weekend away with my wife for our 19th wedding anniversary. The food was delicious and hearty, and all the staff were very friendly. The stars in winter (August) were amazing. The walk in the mountains was perfect to break away from our everyday busy lives.
We did not anticipate such a long drive to the Resort but the road was good. The view from our Room was amazing!. We felt a bit cramped in our Room and the noise of the other Quests sitting and chatting on their Veranda's carried and made it unfortunately unpleasant to sit on ours. We were suprised that there was no heating Blanket on the bed. . The Evening meal and Breakfast were delicious and the Staff were very friendly.
Beautiful surroundings. The reserve is excellently managed. The restaurant provides excellent food. The cave accommodation was very neat and tasteful.
Had a great time. The staff very friendly. Very clean neat. The food was very nice.
Kagga Kamma is a beautiful nature reserve. The comfortable cave rooms are great. Sustainable with solar power, well prepared for the future. Staff is professional and friendly. Dinner is good, but the portions are too big. The cars are parked in front of the caves, not a nice picture.
Dream destination. The scenery takes your breath away.
Top quality environment, accommodation and service.
I saw Kagga Kamma advertised on Instagram and popped over to their website to book because it really appealed. Communication with website is an absolute pleasure - seamless all the way through to a message wishing us a happy weekend. We booked a cave suite for 2 nights but upgraded the 2nd night to the Sky Suite. It's a 4 hour pleasant drive from Cape Town and as soon as you get close, well, about an hour away, the landscape changes dramatically with rock formations that are as old as time. Through the security gate and a couple more km's to reception and you're there. Staff are amazing. Really. And definitely worth a shout out. After check in, we were shown to our cave up on the hill with the most amazing views. Accommodation is comfortable - nice bed, fridge, tea/coffee station, charger points (WiFi at reception/restaurant only) and a pretty decent shower. Doors open to a small patio with views that will take your breath away! Air-con too thankfully - it was hot. There's a really nice pool which we really enjoyed. Dinner was in the boma around a roaring fire. It conversational so a lovely way to make friends with other guests and food was pretty tasty. We upgraded to the star suite the next night which was an incredible experience. Self drive on a quad bike (scary AF at first but after 5 minutes I was ready to do Dakar). The star suite is situated about 3 km's away from the main lodge and honestly, it exceeded my expectations. Everything you need - comfy bed, seating area, shower, loo, log fired hot tub and a bazillion stars. We had a picnic basket with more than enough GnT's, meat for the braai, salads, chocolate bars, juice, tea/coffee - so we lit the fires, watched the sun go down and the sky ignite with more stars than I have ever seen. Surprisingly, after a spray of Peaceful Sleep, we weren't bothered by mozzies/bugs at all and we slept really well. We went on a little hike in the morning, before taking packing up and quadbiking back to the lodge. It's so worth the experience. Highly recommended!
We only stayed one night. Definitely need more time to do everything they offer you. Hiking and mountain bike trails. Game drives and relaxing by the pool. Fresh air to breathe as well as beautiful rock formations and the starry sky at night. The most beautiful sunset. This is a must visit.
Honeymoon stopover - definitely remarkable.
Incredible experience with picturesque views. Calm and quiet. Fresh for the soul.
Recommend it. Will go again for sure.
Covid protocol followed well.
You won't expect staying in a cave can be this wonderful. Very beautiful and excellent service.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied and happy at all times. We will go here again for sure.
The reception was wonderful. The admin was without problems, as was the payment. The staff are friendly and well informed. Thanks for the nice meals. The rooms are serviced regularly. Thanks to everyone who contributes to the success.
Very enjoyable stay, rooms are neat and clean and the air-cons certainly helped for the cold - although I missed my electric blanket. They did however explain that they are on solar power and can therefor not have electric blankets. The spa was lovely and Susan is a definite asset to Kagga Kamma. Glad I remembered to book well in advance as they were fully booked by the time we arrived. The food is good although the kitchen is a bit slow. There are not much to do here - it is a place to just wind down and relax - so if you cannot sit still and require a TV or internet to keep you occupied this is not the place for you. No TV or internet reception in the bedrooms - only in the dining room and bar. You need to buy data. We drove all the 4x4 routes on the farm and only saw a few springbok and baboons - they do tell me that they have at least 60 gemsbok on the farm as well as a whole lot of other buck/animals - no idea where though. The rock formations as you approach the farm are stunning!
Staff is very friendly and helpful. The tour guides have excellent knowledge about the breathtaking part of the world. It's an ideal romantic getaway destination. Even though an ordinary vehicle can drive the dirt road, I would advise you to drive up with an SUV. The dirt road is very long and in fairly good condition.
For the costs incurred you expect better service at all levels. The quality of the accommodation, restaurant, catering and so-called game drives are far below standard. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Kagga Kamma at all.
