265 guests' feedbackThe stay was a wonderful experience. The 'glamping' was spacious and comfortable. The amenities were top notch. The staff were helpful and friendly. Thank you for a relaxing stay. I will definitely stay again in the future.
We had a very lekker stay. The location is very peaceful, the staff is friendly and helpful, and our cottage was neat and tidy. All our expectations were met. Double thumbs up!
Great venue with a variety of accommodation options. Friendly service. Great food.
Khamkirri is a beautiful place, exceeded all our expectations. Ruan, thank you for making us feel very welcome. The overnight tent was lovely to sleep in, as was the beautiful bathroom we used. Delicious food at the restaurant. We will definitely be kicking slones there again. Had a beautiful river view. Thanks Khamkirri, it was worth it.
The glamping tents at Khamkirri are on the banks of the Orange River, the tents are very well equipped and the surroundings are very beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed the time on the shore of the Orange.
We stayed in the River Tent which has a beautiful view of the Orange River. Neat and clean with own bathroom. Had a great barbecue outside as the sun set over the river. The tent has all the utensils one needs. The restaurant has braai packets which we got along with braai buns and an excellent chicken salad. Ruan and his staff made it special for us with genuine care and service.
We always have a great stay at Khamkirri! The most beautiful scenery and tranquility!
Excellent service and affordable. Tent and rooms very modern. Great.
We had an amazing stay at Khamkirri. Ruan was so helpful and helped with everything we needed. The restaurant's food was very tasty, and we enjoyed the sundowner boat trip so much. The service was absolutely top quality. We will definitely go again.
It is the perfect stay next to the Orange River. Very peaceful with a beautiful view - especially of the sunset. The place is very clean and neat with everything you need! 5-star "glamping" experience!
Lovely place, clean and tidy. The highlight was the sunset cruise on the Orange River. It was so beautiful. The restaurant's food was unsurpassed.
Lovely, very beautiful by the river.
What a surprise. We stayed in one of the tent units. The view was so beautiful. Everything was clean and tidy. The reception was friendly. We wanted to stay longer.
Excellent accommodation. Beautiful surroundings. Would highly recommend the place.
We really enjoyed the stay and would really recommend it. The staff were very friendly and the food was of high quality.
We had a very nice stay. The dirt road up there is just not suitable for a car. Otherwise it was a great weekend with family and friends.
Relaxed environment with a nice view of the river. The standing tent was neat and comfortable.
Very nice place, clean and friendly people. Will definitely go again.
Very nice stay, thank you!
Nice and comfortable tent cabins. The water cooler works well for the heat. Good customer service.
Great setting, comfortable and clean camp site with decent ablutions. The hosts were very friendly and the river cruise is a must. The food at the restaurant was outstanding. We will definitely go back there again.
We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend Khamkirri. It has such a lovely atmosphere and is very family oriented. The views are spectacular!
Our stay was just amazing! The view was breathtaking, and every day different, even if it is the same view. The service was so comfortable, feels like friends you are going to visit.
See stars.
Very nice place just decided to stay an extra night.
Absolutely awesome. Will definitely go again.
Khamkirri exceeded all our expectations! Neat and affordable, with the most beautiful Kalahari scenery. The cottages were perfect with the most amazing view over the Orange River. Air-conditioning cooling helped at night and in the sweltering heat of the day. Even though we didn't camp ourselves, we were very impressed with the campground. The grass is green, very cool with modern ablution areas, ideal for families camping. There was also more than enough to do for our whole family, from rowing to cycling, fishing, table tennis and swimming. The restaurant was also fantastic (best cheeseburger ever) and we really appreciated the convenient service of ordering wood, drinks and barbecue suits. Hospitality made it particularly enjoyable with down to earth yet extremely professional and personal quality service. It was so much fun we just booked an extra night which was absolutely worth it. Khamkirri we'll see you again for sure, this time we just book 2 weeks!
The stay at Khamkirri was definitely the highlight of our holiday.
What a lovely and friendly place! Khamkirri is a wonderful place. Pools were clean and tidy. The food was top notch. We as a family will definitely visit there again. Thanks to Phillipa, Danie and the extremely friendly staff!
A good, comfortable stay in our log cabin. Very good housekeeping. Beautiful riverfront views. Some of the best cocktails we've had, made and served by Lello.
Very nice for the second time.
Had a great stay. Accommodation was clean, tidy and we received a very friendly welcome. Value for money and will definitely visit again.
What a nice place with the most incredible sunsets.
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was perfect, and the sunsets on the river are breathtaking.
It is always one of our favourite stops on our holidays. The attention to detail in the cottage is amazing. You do not want for anything. The staff are brilliant and the location on the river breathtaking. All in all, a wonderful destination.
The stay was very nice.
Quiet, safe, tidy by the river. With the osprey in your ears.
Had a wonderful stay. Beautiful untouched nature. Breathtaking sunsets.
We had a wonderful stay at Khamkirri. It is beautiful along the Orange River.
The place was really self catering friendly. It is neat and clean.
A lovely place, neat and well-maintained. Pity that the on-duty manager and friends had to ride up and down with the quadbike, which broke the tranquility of our stay.
Stay was awesome, quiet and good sound of nature in the mornings.
Many thanks to Khamkirri team for your hospitality and help with the wood.
Very comfortable with an amazing view.
We had a very nice stay.
Tent was equipped with basic needs and comfortable for the night.
Very nice place with a nice view of the river, accommodation nice and tidy. Nice close to Augrabies.
Very calm. Neat ablutions. Friendly staff. Shortcomings: Ablution a bit bad in the cold night. There are bedside lamps in the tent, but no two-prong plugs to plug them into.
We had a nice stay, but would say the tent house for 3 large people is almost on the nice side. The fact that we could take our animal children with us was a big plus for us.
No, no pitch reserved. You stand where you want (couldn't find a private ablution stand although we booked one). Bathrooms need attention, not cleaned regularly.
We enjoyed it very much. It was wonderfully peaceful.
Very peaceful and beautiful nature.
We had a lovely time staying at Khamkirri - there was ample to do and the cabin was well equipped, clean and such a beautiful location. The staff was super friendly and very helpful! Wish we had stayed longer.
Excellent location right next to the Orange River. Top-class customer service. The tent at Khamkirri was wonderful, spacious, and clean. Highly recommend.
It is located in the perfect location with the best staff. I would recommend it to everyone.
Few campsites have their own ablution block. These are clean and tidy and very handy.
We were absolutely taken care of by the staff. Their kindness and suggestions are top notch! Accommodation is as advertised.
We enjoyed Khamkirri so much. We stayed after we went flower-watching on the way back to Gauteng. It was a real haven on the river, we could not complain about absolutely anything and would sit there again and enjoy the sunset any day.
See stars.
The people were incredibly friendly and the service was great! Feels like we made lots of new friends!
Khamkirri is the perfect accommodation along the Orange River. Werner and his team immediately make you feel welcome and make sure that you and your family enjoy the visit with them. We had a nice meal at the restaurant and had a good time along the Oranje.
What a beautiful place. Friendly and helpful people. Will definitely go again, but definitely for longer!
Our visit to Khamkirri was just the right medicine after the exam and to escape a little from the realities of life. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful place with us.
The tent house was great and had its own bathroom. This is absolutely a plus. We had excellent service from the manager to the waiters. We felt very special. The food at the restaurant was tasty and very cheap. I would recommend any traveler to spend the night there.
See stars.
On the way to Khamkirri we already get a call from Werner to hear if we are driving safely and what time he can expect us, stop there Werner walks out to greet us! People, it's little things like this that you know will make your stay very special! Place is amazing and lots of things to do around the area and if you get stuck or not sure, just ask Werner he knows his surroundings and his nature. I'm coming again with my children!
The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the wooden houses.
Clean, neat and comfortable tent units. Also very safe. A perfect destination either on the way in or out of the Kgalagadi.
Very nice place. We camped for 2 days. Will visit longer next time. Thank you for your hospitality and friendly service. Will definitely visit again.
We stayed in a log cabin which was wonderful. It looked out onto the river from the stoep and from the bedroom. We went with self-catering in mind but after eating at the restaurant we had all our meals there. Great food. Werner was a wonderful host and was very knowledgeable about the river and all the birds and animals in the area.
Very good venue whether camping, glamping or lodging.
Staff very friendly. Service is great. Welcome awesome. Site, restaurant, pool and everything neat and clean. Float on river safely and experience. Chalets very neat and clean, and very well equipped.
Khamkirri we will definitely see again. Would recommend to any traveler.
Friendly staff and great campsites.
Neat, fully equipped safari tent. Most beautiful view of Orange River. Very cute to have your kitchens outside. Restaurant (on site) meals are tasty. Nice swimming pool and children's pool to cool off. Really a must holiday stay.
Reception was friendly and helpful. Was available all the time for questions and help throughout the weekend. We stayed in Houtkruis 1. Was stunning. The place was well equipped, the decor tasteful and practical. Everything that was needed, including air conditioner. Braai on the porch was especially so by the river. Swimming pool was welcome relief in the heat. Deck at restaurant was lovely. Early morning walk along the river was beautiful and worth the effort. Really enjoyed the stay and wasn't ready to go yet.
Werner was an excellent host. The log house was comfortable, beautifully equipped and excellently located to appreciate the sunset. We had a great meal at the restaurant and the service was very good.
Unbelievably beautiful and the renovations only make the place even nicer and more beautiful. Friendly workers.
Our time at Khamkirri was unforgettable! The manager, Werner, went out of his way for us, he was always friendly, considerate and nothing was ever too much trouble for him.
We will definitely visit again.
Werner and his team made us feel very welcome, attended to our needs and ensured an unforgettable New Year's Eve 2022.
Friendly staff, excellent facilities. I recommend it.
The friendliness of the owners is excellent. They immediately make you feel welcome and are helpful in all aspects. We stayed in Cabin 1. The most comfortable beds with the most beautiful sunrise that greets you in the morning. The cottage is well equipped for basic necessities. It does contain only a gas plate without an oven. The stoep is ideal for dining, barbecuing and visiting. The most beautiful views. Activities abound. We went for a 5km walk and paddled the beautiful orange river. There is also a sunset cruise available and much more. The staff at the restaurant are incredibly friendly and make the best dompedro in the Northern Cape. The food is tasty and decent portions. Khamkirri IS A DEFINITE MUST.
Peaceful, quiet getaway.
Lovely quiet atmosphere with very friendly people, good service and good food.
From start to finish we were very impressed with Khamkirri. First impressions are neat, clean and organized. The reception by Werner was very warm and professional. He makes you feel welcome. The tent house where we stayed was neat, clean and well equipped. The view from the deck of the tent house is perfect, it puts you inside nature. We would definitely recommend staying in a tented house at Khamkirri.
Neat, friendly staff. Helpful.
The team at Khamkirri is very friendly. They manage to treat guests in the same way as a 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi, Khalahari style. Thank you Khamkirri team.
Nice getaway with everything that was needed. View of the river was a bonus.
Beautiful place, lovely restaurant and excellent customer service. Will definitely visit again.
Stunning resort with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Can definitely recommend and will visit them again.
Very nice campsite. Bitterly cold in the winter, but will be great in the summer. The communal ablution block needs some love to match the rest of the resort.
See stars.
Can give some information when one gets there. Didn't know what was available there.
Our stay was nothing short of amazing! The staff are friendly, you're close to a big town, yet far enough away for peace and quiet. The chalets are well maintained. And being against the Orange River was great.
Keep up the good work. Your place is amazing and you know how to treat people.
We had a wonderful stay and relaxed so much in that beautiful, well-furnished tent!
Just too many midges.
Calm atmosphere. Very nice meal at restaurant.
Very nice visit along the Orange River. Beautiful restaurant and delicious meals on the river. We will definitely come again. P.S. Ablution can do with an outdoor light.
Spacious, tidy and comfortable accommodation. The house is equipped with all the necessary equipment. We really enjoyed the view of the river and tranquility. Will definitely stay there again.
Privaat ablusie is nuut. Springbokkies besoek gereeld kampeerarea. Mooiste sonsondergange.
In beautiful contrast to Augrabies too booming. Location is excellent to experience Riemvasmaak; tents right on the bank of the river. Service was excellent!
Nice and quiet, everything was clean and tidy, the service was excellent.
Was there 20 years ago and really enjoyed it. The new owners are friendly and have upgraded the resort beautifully but still at a reasonable rate for us South Africans.
Hospitable, clean and tidy.
Beautiful place, clean and tidy and friendly staff. You can relax quietly and enjoy the beautiful river view. Would recommend it.
Fantastic location. Lots to do including canoeing and "Fat bike" riding and fishing. Definitely recommended with at least 2 nights. Thank you very much.
Lots to do for the kids.
Traveled for 3 weeks and best accommodation by far.
We slept in the river tents. The view is breathtaking and the peaceful atmosphere makes you wish you could stay longer. Thank you for excellent service to all the staff. Werner, you're great!
We had a great stay, units are big, have everything you need, clean and tidy! Would recommend for sure!
Khamkirri is a great holiday destination just to relax and unwind. Hearing the scream of the osprey every day while sitting and relaxing made the experience even more special. Our four-legged child really enjoyed the visit and sniffing.
Beautiful view of the Orange River. Khamkirri is located near Riemvasmaak and the Augrabies Falls. Khamkirri has excellent camping facilities as well as a restaurant and swimming pool. Bathrooms are clean and tidy. Affordable accommodation.
Friendly reception by Philippa, first sight of the resort on the mighty Orange River and the unique tent accommodation we will always remember from Khamkirri. To perfect it further we experience Allison, friendly waitress who goes the extra mile!
We were a group of 7 people who stayed in 3 of the river tents for 2 nights. The river tents are luxurious, well appointed with everything you need, more than enough space and a nice view.
Clean and tidy from the reception right through to the stay. Very nice atmosphere, will definitely stay there again.
We have younger children, as well as older children and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. So sorry we couldn't stay longer. The service was excellent and the meals at the restaurant were delicious.
Werner and his staff were very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much.
Beautiful campsite by the river. Friendly staff, clean and tidy. Will definitely visit there again.
The unit is basically on the river. Spacious tent with everything you need. The outdoor kitchen works well and the shower is nice and big with nice hot water.
The place is the most beautiful place we've ever been to, it's on the Oranje and the view is always something to look at. The waiters are friendly and helpful. The cocktails are a must! Werner is always friendly and makes the whole experience enjoyable! Definitely see the place again in the future!
It was very nice, river was beautiful.
The most beautiful place along the Orange River. We received such good service. Werner made us feel so welcome. The log house was beautiful inside, luxurious and very modern. The view on the deck was one for the books with a lovely sundowner. Nice barbecue in the evenings with the most beautiful view of the river. If you want to relax and get away, this is the best place. The pool was a bonus for our kids. Thank you for a wonderful time.
The units are clean and comfortably furnished. The manager and staff went out of their way to accommodate all our requests.
We had a nice barbecue on the deck of our wooden houses by the river and cooled off in the swimming pool. And enjoy a nice cocktail at their bar with the most beautiful sunset over the river. Ospreys are plentiful and you hear them all the time. We really enjoyed it. Khamkirri's wooden houses are nicely located by the river. Most beautiful natural scenes to look at.
Lovely box, lovely accommodation, friendly and helpful staff.
The unit was wonderfully cool with the air conditioners. The deck might just get a roof fan to circulate the air. It was very hot with the west sun on it. Resort neat and beautifully maintained. Would recommend anyone there. Dirt road better than pot hole roads in the city. It was a lovely weekend at a beautiful resort.
What a beautiful place along the Orange River. We stayed overnight for two nights and had a good time, slept well and ate well. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The houses look just like in the photo, neat and clean. Would love to stay there again to do all the activities when the river is not in flood. Augrabies is a stone's throw away and was a sight to behold on our visit. Would definitely recommend this place.
Breathtaking sunsets. Bird-rich environment. Rooms are very comfortable, neat and clean. The dirt road there is better than some tar roads.
I can highly recommend Khamkirri.
The tented accommodation was great. The self-catering log cabin was very comfortable with the deck facing the Orange River and beautiful sunsets.
Staff went the extra mile to quiet down noisy fellow inconsiderate campers after 10pm. We even treat ourselves to coffee and a bottle of wine at home the next morning, to make excuses for others' bad behavior. We will definitely want to camp there again in tents. View from restaurant is amazing!
Comfortable accommodation with everything one needs to have a good time. Friendly staff and a beautiful view of the Orange River.
Wonderful atmosphere. Right next to the river. Plenty to do for young and old. Belt fastening and Augrabies just around the corner.
Everything is clean, tidy and luxurious. You are served and your every need is taken care of by friendly staff. There is no shop on site so make sure you pack everything you will need.
The log cabin was neatly furnished and well-equipped. We had a beautiful view over the Orange River.
Perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Will be back. Regards Anthony.
Khamkirri is perfect for a peaceful getaway with friends or family. Very nice stay with a very nice view. Good and friendly service.
Stay was heavenly. Felt like staying on the river, would love to come again.
Thank you so much Khamkirri for your hospitality, all the effort Werner made with fishing rods and setting up extra camp, we felt very much at home and would definitely recommend you, the cottage is beautiful and has everything we needed, it's well located, can see many places from there.
The accommodation in a tent is certainly unusual but quite acceptable, given the price. The wind happened to be quite strong during the night on the only night there, which was a little annoying. The people at reception were certainly helpful despite the power outage due to an off-site fault.
I, 59, and my mother, 80, traveled together and visited 6 different places. Would love to make suggestions, there was no storage space for our bags. Every time my mother had to bend down to the ground to lift her suitcase onto the bed. Would have appreciated a cupboard for our loose things or at least a shelf to put the bags on. Place looks so messy when everything is just standing around. Very grateful for the couch that was there, at least it's bad to sit on a bed all the time when it's so cold. It was also very cold in the tent, we e.g. at Kameeldoring in Augrabies we had an air conditioner in our tent, it was great. We brought our own blankets and pillows so we slept warm, but oh my when you get out of that bed it was freezing. We sleep badly and drink tea at night, again no shelf or table for the kettle and cups. If we did it outside at night we would freeze and I think it might be unsafe. Our second night we wanted so badly to sit by a fire again, but it was freezing cold and there is no tarpaulin to lower on one side of the porch. I would suggest that if you could just stretch a tarpaulin on the kitchen side, then your guests could lower it if they wanted and have more shelter from the elements and more privacy from the neighbours. No wifi was also not nice, because there is no TV, our phones had to keep us busy. I know you escape from the everyday when you're there, but when it's this cold there's only one thing to do and that was to sit inside. Overall a beautiful place, had a great time with you guys.
Very well furnished. Everything was neat and clean.
The hospitality, location and cleanliness are unbeatable. It was an indescribable experience to spend a quiet Saturday by the waters in anticipation of Resurrection Sunday.
The host, Werner, is the perfect host. Very friendly, tidy and thorough. All the people make the visit even better.
Could bring in a bit more activities for children.
Very good facilities and comfort. Very neat and clean. Quiet and beautiful surroundings. Osprey calling along the river. Very hospitable ontangs. Definitely worth a visit for anyone.
The service of the waiters on their deck area was a bit slow, but we were not rushed either. You then just sit quietly and visit.
The overnight tent was disappointing. The mattress was done, and stone cold. That's a lot of money per night, for what you get. The camping illusion is creepy.
Unbelievably nice break and relax. The staff were excellent. Friendly, helpful, considerate. The premises are very neat and secure. Lovely pool for the children which was cleaned daily. We really have nothing to complain about. We will go back for sure.
Die uitsig was asemrowend. Love die rustigheid. Beslis die moeite werd vir kamp, oornag of selfs 'n lekker ete by die restaurant.
Khamkirri is the perfect accommodation if you want to explore the area. The view of the Orange River is beautiful.
Great, pleasant and activities for all ages.
Beautiful newly erected tents on the bank of the Orange. Nice views of the river. Safe environment. Fully equipped kitchen. All facilities needed. Will stay longer next time.
What a relief after a long day's journey, to arrive here where the tranquility speaks to you. Lovely accommodation, well equipped, clean and right on the river.

Our private modern house on the banks of the Orange River was a retreat for the soul. Thanks to the owner and the staff for their hospitality and kindness. Various mountain bike routes - from easy to nice technical.
Great space, excellent hospitality and the location is ideal for an excellent getaway to the area.
For us, Khamkirrie was like a small oasis on the bank of the Orange River. Road there very good, beautiful main building and chalets, lovely beds and linen. Just a pleasure.
The lady at the bar and restaurant was very friendly.
Khamkirri is a hidden diamond in the Northern Cape. Beautiful place with a peaceful atmosphere. Restaurant most delicious food.
Service was excellent and the view great.
Will definitely go back and stay longer On arrival had a bit hiccup with us sitting in front of the gate for 15 minutes calling all the available mobile numbers with no luck. Had to call the website's call centre to see if they had other numbers we could try to get onto the property. Eventually got in. Would recommend Khamkirri to install cameras at front gate incase mobile numbers are offline they can see guests arriving especially on a Sunday when they keep their gate closed. Other than that our stay was flawless.
Thanks to all at Khamkirri that made our time so incredible. Wonderful deck to have a sundowner every night and watch the sunset. Very cute little houses with everything that you may need. Thank you to each and every one for your friendliness that made our time there so special.
Very pretty. Nice thing to do, but you have to ask or you won't know. Couldn't go on the boat ride due to Covid and they wanted a minimum group. Also nice and quiet.
Khamkirri is a lovely place to break away for a weekend. The restaurant's food is to be recommended.
Fantastic accommodation right next to the Orange River with top quality facilities and the friendliest staff! Will visit again anytime! This time just longer!
Very nice log cabins: clean, tidy and nice decor! View over the river is really nice. Very friendly staff who helped us. Really had a good time.
Positive: Friendly service from management and staff, good food in restaurant, nice and comfortable accommodation in relatively new wooden houses, beautiful view over river, location (interesting larger area with lots to do and visit). Negative: River not very accessible when water is high. Sorry there are no more places to access river.
Loved the tent on the river, the bathroom is clean and the room is spacious. We only stayed one night.
Had the most amazing stay at Khamkirri. Every single staff member is friendly and willing to assist anyway they can. The host, Werner, is very informative and has great knowledge of the surrounding areas. He is also always willing to assist where he can. Reggie is also awesome so helpful and goes out of his way to keep the clients happy. Will definitely stay at Khamkirri if in the Northern Cape again. Absolutely beautiful place and people.
When we arrived, I just knew the place was going to be fantastic. The location is good and very peaceful to break away from the city. The staff is very friendly and the wooden houses are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and tidy. Thank you Khamkirri, see you soon.
The menu can be could do with a re-look.
Very neat and spacious wooden houses that are well furnished. The location is also excellent from where to explore the area.
We lived in a beautiful wooden house, very modern and stylish furniture. Air conditioning in the living area and bedroom. Porch with built-in braai overlooking the river was perfect. Owners very helpful and service from staff was very good. Werner's service was excellent and shared information about many activities with us. Mountain bike route was a good challenge but really enjoyed it. Our stay at Khamkirri was the highlight of our holiday!
Loved the cabin - very tastefully decorated and clean - husband caught fish, so happy! Very friendly staff and helpful.
My daughter and I traveled together. We were big campers, but my wife's health reasons meant that later on we couldn't camp anymore and as a result, after I paid for the caravan's license for 5 years and it didn't move 1 cm in that time, I sold it. After my wife's death and lockdown, my daughter lost her job in the Cape. Son still in Cape, going to visit him, daughter wants to sleep in a tent, this was the ideal. Thanks again for the effort.
Wonderfully helpful staff who go the extra mile with clients.
Very neat units by the river, well located for visiting Augrabies.
The dirt road into the farm is better than most of the tar roads in Johannesburg, so don't let that put you off! Some coffee and sugar sachets for overnight travellers would be nice though.
The evenings on the Orange River were brilliant, just a shame that the lights from Kakamas spoil the atmosphere a bit. The chalet is very well equipped, just a pity that there was a bad smell in the bathroom.
Parts of the 22.5 km dirt road are good, but the rest is very corrugated iron. The website's information that it is only 12 km from the falls is not correct. Maybe as the crow flies. From Khamkirri to the tar road around the falls is about 25 km and then it is probably another 50 or 60 km to the falls. The accommodation itself is quite acceptable.
The entire lodge is beautifully situated on the Orange River. The stunning communal seating area on the deck. Many activities are available. Great staff.
Werner who runs Khamkirri is one of the hardest working people I have ever met and he was literally everywhere to help and to roll stones out of the guests' way.
We didn't expect anything but truly had an unforgettable experience. The resort is very well managed, the location is excellent and we will definitely visit again.
Lovely on the river's bank.
Werner was an excellent host! We were received so kindly and he arranged the most delicious barbecue sandwiches and salad. The sunset cruise was an experience. From the books! We will definitely come again. Thank you Werner.
Beautiful, modern, well-equipped unit with patio and braai area by the river. Excellent restaurant and bar for a cocktail and a beautiful sunset. The staff very friendly and helpful. The campsite is particularly beautiful with private ablutions and beautiful large shade trees. The farm is beautifully maintained with nice walking and cycling routes. We happily recommend any stay at Khamkirri. Augrabies also close by for a day trip. Excellent, value for money.
Fantastic place to stay, very modern and comfortable, most beautiful sunset over the river.
Friendly owner. Stayed nice. Nice place. Food delicious.
Dorien has the most beautiful units, they're super neat and has everything you need. Very well located and peaceful. Thanks a lot Dorien, for your friendliness and hospitality. We'll definitely visit again!
What a pleasant surprise. The log cabin allocated to us was just incredible. The location and views were breathtaking. The accommodation was neat, clean and a cosy place. The management with arrival was helpful and friendly. You immediately feel at home. Will definitely visit you again in the future.
The unit was brand new when we stayed there. The layout is excellent and gives a breathtaking view of the Orange River from the stoep with a built-in braai. There is enough space in the unit. Signs in the resort were a bit confusing, but we were kindly helped. A dispute over payment was resolved painlessly in a very creative way. Will definitely stay here again.
Very neat and clean. Missed a fridge in the tent.
Khamkirri is not recommended for the traveler who only wants to spend one night - the 22 km dirt road from the N14 is a bit too far. Ablution and washing facilities are not up to standard. Currently undergoing construction of new bar/reception area - hope the improvements spill over to the existing constructions.
The kids enjoyed it a lot. It's a wonderful resort for every age.
Fantastic, thank you very much. Will come again for longer.
The time I spent there was fantastic. Staff were friendly and always helpful.
We will definitely visit you again!
We had a wonderful, peaceful evening at Kalahari River & Safari Co. We stayed in one of their rustic huts, which was a small house with a lovely veranda on the river's edge. The cottage had everything we needed, was beautifully clean and private. We went in June and the cottage was warm enough. Would recommend to anyone.
Amazing setting next to the Orange River.
The tent houses are very neat and clean. Each tent overlooks the Orange River. The owners are really very friendly.
Value for money, very safe and clean place. Friendly concerned staff. All that is missing may be a small general store.
We didn't get the rooms we booked, but it all worked out nicely. Will definitely visit again when the new luxury rooms are ready. The food at the restaurant was stunning.
Chalet was cute and quite good enough, good value for money and on the river bank. Had a great time. Will go back again to stay longer.
We were warmly welcomed (even though there was a huge crowd on the premises due to building improvements being made). We stayed in "family unit # 2". It has a beautiful view of the river and the surrounding area, but unfortunately there is no access to the river nearby. This is the only reason I didn't give a 5-star rating.
We enjoyed it very much. The silence and the nature are breathtaking and calming on the soul. Will definitely want to spend a visit there again.
We spent the night in one of the river tents. Tent is equipped with basic necessities as well as luxuries such as fans and long cords. If I may recommend: It would be good to have a sink/dish for dirty dishes nearby.
We had a great time relaxing. Many birds along the river, bring so much peace and rest to one's mind. Everything was very well equipped.
My son and I stayed in the tented accommodation, that is located on the edge of the river, for 3 nights on our way to Onseepkans for some river rafting. The accommodation is more than adequate for pass through travellers. The main deck is quite spectacular and a great place to enjoy supper or sun-downers. The restaurant serves the most amazing nachos prepared by owner, Philippa! The staff were really friendly and particularly helpful. The owners, Danie and Philippa have created a unique little paradise on the edge of the Orange River. I will definitely visit Khamkirri again.
Very nice lodge on the bank of the river. Good restuarant and lovely visit and reception area with a fantastic view over the river. Rooms are on the banks of the river. Expect quite a few mosquitoes.
It was very nice and quiet.
The stay was wonderful and fun. It is very primitive but not inconvenient. The biggest disadvantage was that there are only a few places available to get to the river due to reeds that grow there. Makes fishing a bit difficult. Will stay there again. Friendly people and the place is safe.
This accommodation had many shortcomings. The bathroom is located outside and there was no water the morning before we left! There was only one steak knife for 2 guests and also no drying towels. The outdoor sink did not have a plug and the reading lights were not connected, although there was an elbow length extension on the floor. The mattresses are very old and the table next to the foot of the bed fell off when we touched it! The mosquito net was very primitively attached to the roof and did not appear clean either. This chalet is also not insulated at all and it was bitterly cold during the night. This stay was indeed a disappointment.
Booking in at this lodge was our getaway after going on pension. I knew it was a bush camp so therefore did not expect much which was confirmed by no toaster, no cupboard. I placed my clothes on the bunk bed and a metal bar from the top bed ripped my shirt, it had been roughly cut off by an angle grinder and there is a sharp piece left. So, on this Saturday we settle down to watch the river and listen to nature when I hear a compressor start up followed by a jackhammer next door to the unit. A call to the owner and was told they're not supposed to be working today. Had four hours of this jack hammer going off. That night no hot water. Saw the geyser is switched off, phoned in the morning and was told that it was strange and someone will deal with it. The next morning a guy arrives and says it is the thermostat, he goes away an hour later we have no electricity, no fridge (our food is thawing) three hours later I phone and was told someone will check, in the meantime in the 46 degrees I went to check and the geyser's back is open and the wires exposed. A guys arrives and puts the power back on. Three hours latter boiling water is pouring from the geyser, I phone again no answer so switch off geyser. Next day the second guy comes back and says while I was out the geyser was repaired and is working, he promptly says tomorrow there is no power, okay so is there ice we can use to keep the meat I just bought cool, he will let me know. I'm still waiting, check the geyser and the switch is off, and the back is still open with wires exposed. The next morning we packed everything up as the power went out and went to a B&B leaving a day early. The view and river is stunning but the units are poorly managed and I get it, it is a bush camp and according to them people only sleep over, well hell, I came for the peace and quiet, clearly that is too much to expect. If you want a place to sleep over then sure, if you're looking for a holiday next to the river and nature look elsewhere.
The unit is slightly neglected and the floor of the braai patio is so full of holes that it is difficult to place chairs nicely. The barbecue grill hadn't been cleaned in years, so you don't feel like putting your meat on it! There were an incredible amount of midges and all the man could say was that candles help but nothing was offered. There aren't even the usual coffee/tea bags for overnight visitors, so you are obliged to unpack your travel suitcase, and only for the night.
We had a blast at Kalahari River & Safari Co. Caught some fish, swam in the river and camped like kings and queens. Ablution Block was clean every time. Staff were super friendly. Thank you Philipa, Danie and James. We had a great time and will definitely be coming back!
Beautiful scenery, excellent accommodation. Would definitely want to visit again and even stay longer! That's my type of place!
See stars.
Beautiful place. It was nice.
See star rating.
Ideal place for an overnight stay, but also good enough to stay there for a week.
Owners very friendly and made a lot of effort with us. Setup nice. Dirt road for 25 minutes very, very bad. Not recommended to drive with a car. Our cars got hurt a lot.
Very beautiful, quiet and peaceful environment. Comfortably furnished and good service.
Very pleasurable stay on the banks of the Orange River.
Definitely an oasis in the barren desert, private, safe and peaceful! Definitely a place where one can rest one's soul and wash away one's worries in the water. Pocket-sized accommodation option for the weary traveller.
Make sure what the accommodation looks like. If you go in winter, you will die from the cold there. The 'windows' are mesh and are covered with canvas. The toilets are outside the accommodation.
Quiet, neat and clean. Unfortunately admin was. not available on arrival. Tent's zipper needs attention, small table is weathered and barbecue could be better. Ablution block's men's section experienced problems with lights.
Place was neat and clean but not our cup of tea.
The photos on their website looked exactly like what the accommodation really looked like - I really appreciate that. It was very rustic and a bit small for 4 people. The setting beside the river was really lovely and cool. The red roman spiders were intense - bad enough to make me pack up and leave a bit earlier than planned.
Booked two rustic chalets for two nights and was soul-refreshing waking up to the view of the Orange River and sounds of the fish eagle. Do however feel that the units are overpriced for the standard: linen were not fresh, units in need of deep cleaning, too basic for the price, doors not insect-proof, gauze windows not properly maintained, no potable water. Bad experience with ants in showers and red romans in room.
We were disappointed by the zipper of our tent which was completely out of order and we had to drive to another tent at ten o'clock in the evening. The owner was aware of it, but the girl who gave us the tent put us in there. We are grateful that we got a discount on the accommodation.
Great view, but that was all — not even a kettle in the kitchen. We booked for 5 but they double booked so one of us had to sleep in the kitchen! No shower! We were very disappointed. Far to travel on a dirt road.
Just do not stay in the so called tented camp. We shared the site with 250 other tents occupied with making a movie. Need I say more?
Danie and Phillippa is incredibly hospitable. It was an experience staying there. We will definitely stay there again if we visit the area in the future.
Very nice with great sunset deck, value for moeny.
Incredible sunset and a beautiful, open sky with clear moonlight and the call of the fish eagle over the Orange River. Comfortable accommodation that closes up safely and offers protection at all times. The deer graze conveniently close. Friendly people. Host and hostess with consistent, surprising gestures. The beauty is cemented by the neatness of the area.
Beautiful location, owners are very friendly. Many activities offered are a plus point.
The accommodation was right next to the Orange River. The tranquility and view was wonderful. The room was neat, clean and well equipped. We each enjoyed a long, hot shower. The layout of the caravan park and area where one could relax while enjoying cold drinks was also well laid out.
It's wonderfully quiet and peaceful along the river and so deep in nature. The contrast of the surrounding landscape is incredible. One cannot describe it. We had a great time and rowed on the Orange River. The highlight was the stars we watch at night from our cage! "Priceless!" Just a pity it was too short. Next time we will stay longer.
See the stars.
Apart from the fact that we'd appreciate it if the river were more accessible and the view thereof more open (less forested) from the camping sites, we had a wonderful time here. Will definitely camp here again! Thank you very much.
We enjoyed our stay. The huts was a bit too rustic. We will probably visit the resort again. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.
We were kindly received. It is a very beautiful place and we spent the night in a clean, tidy tent next to the river. My husband really enjoyed fishing in the river. Thank you!
Huts give you the feeling of being in the bush, while still have the essentials to be comfortable. Microwave only thing we really missed, however, it made the experience more authentic. The place is really beautiful. The host very friendly and the kids enjoyed the river raft tremendously. Wished we stayed longer here and less at other places on our journey.
I just feel the rondavels, at that price, is not up to stanadard. The tents are nicely appointed and everything is very clean. And the people are very friendly and hospitable. Also lovely view.
Wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Very private.
We got there a night before our booking and we also got lost. I started calling the owner of the place. They were so helpful, they even came to fetch us because it was difficult to get to their place at about 02:00am.
Philippa was very nice and staying was an experience. They just have to e.g. dust behind the heater and dust often because it is in the field. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed it.
Danie & Philippa are 2 fantastic people. They don't own the resort for long. However, they will need to do a lot of upgrading to come up to standard. I booked and paid immediately, but only later found out there was a 20 km dirt road we had to drive to get there. The cabins are not up to standard. The fan in roof and light do not work together. I had to take out the bulb to get the light to die. I had to poke open the shower head's holes with a toothpick before we could shower. The sheet on my bed was torn.
Very far from Augrabies falls (> 60 km) and very primitive. Should be classified under Riemvasmaak and not Aughrabies. Although advertised as rustic hut, primitive hut would have been more descriptive. Single light in hut, switch on and off using separate switch located on main switchboard. Only two plate hotplate. Scullery outside hut, no hot water. Although facilities is cleaned once a day, including dishes, there is only 4 of everything which implies that you still need to wash up at least twice in between by boiling kettle water and carrying it outside. Blinds, and not glass in windows caused quite a chill and lots of noise on stormy windy night. Bathroom located in annex about 2 m from hut, covered on side but not on top. Towel had bad bleach spot. No washbasin plug. Beautiful location right on river though.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, but the cabins are definitely substandard.
What is your biggest concern when you book accommodation? That the photo's and description on the website doesn't match the reality. The bedding was old, it made little pieces of fluff from the old bedding that had to be changed already. The bedding wasn't freshly washed either. The bed was old and could fall to pieces at any moment. There wasn't glass windows. Just a hole in the wall with wire gauze over it. There weren't any curtains either, but the canvas was rolled down. The self-catering unit wasn't up to standard. The crockery wasn't clean. The sliding door couldn't lock. When I asked about it the answer was: "Crime is non-existent here". The unit's price is way too high for the standard of the units. The owner was friendly, but it doesn't make up for the quality of the accommodation. We arrived late and tired and we wanted a good night's rest. Kalahari River and Safari Co is certainly not four star accommodation. The description should be primitive or basic, rather than four stars. I am very disappointed.
Thanks Phillipa and Danie for an awesome two days. It was a fantastic and the nature paddle was a great adventure for the kids. We will see you next year!
Had an excellent stay. The owners were very helpful when I needed something. Would like to see the empty bottles and stuff by the river cleaned up.
We travel by car with low profile tires and the feeder route is a good dirt road. No problem. The campsites are nice and private and the staff are very helpful with items like firewood and drinks on the river bank. Cleanliness of the bathrooms can definitely be stepped up and can be cleaned and dried much more during peak times. The water pressure and hot water supply is also a problem and needs attention because it becomes scarce at times.
I mean, two very uncomfortable camp beds for R650 for the night out of season is a bit much. The large bungalows need a table to at least work at, either a kitchen table or just writing. For the prices it is very spartan.
Not as advertised. Only the receptionist and her husband were friendly. Grateful for that.
