If you enjoy the beauty of nature and want a break from the city, this is perfect. The dogs on the premises are very playful and you need a vehicle with a high ground clearance as it's on a farm.

The view is beautiful and Gerda is very hospitable and helpful. The cottage is small and close to the main house, but we made it work. We were mostly out during the day and explored the world. There is so much to do in the area! The location in relation to restaurants and excursions are excellent!

Beautiful place, but was unfortunate to stay there on a very cold weekend. The wind came badly through the roof tiles (no insulation) and the open layout in Takbok meant that the fireplace's heat did not spread throughout the room. We were frozen even though we were heavily dressed. One day we couldn't go out because of the weather and couldn't even play games because our hands were frozen. When we spoke, moisture came out of our mouths! It was a cold weekend nationwide, but what surprised me was the owner's bland comment that the roof was designed to counteract summer heat (what about people who live there in the cold, because it's Magoebaskloof and the weather often turns to cold there again) and that our fires were not big enough (we burned 7 bags of wood in 1 day and used up 11 bags of wood in total for the weekend and didn't even grill). A gas heater or electric heater would have been appreciated. I would have paid even more so that we could have a comfortable weekend and not such an unpleasant cold time. Owner's answer to that was "NO, that's what the fireplace is there for!".

We stayed for one night in the beautiful Takbok unit. The unit is very nicely decorated and well equipped. The view is special! Free WiFi is available. Wish we could have stayed longer to take in the tranquility and explore the area better. Aunty, thank you very much for your exceptional hospitality and focus on the finer details. Although the cottage is comfortable, it needs some sprucing up. Fridge could be replaced. Few more items in the kitchen could be added eg a bread knife. Too many dogs as a result too much waste all over the lawn.
We were very warmly and kindly welcomed by the owners. The place is very well equipped with everything you will need. It is clean and tidy and nice and spacious for a family. It was nice and quiet with stunning views. Only criticism I would make is to put a double bed in the room because most people are couples and don't want to sleep on single beds. Also, an instant coffee/tea for the guests in the morning would be nice. And then just to indicate that the road will not be accessible with an ordinary car. It was a difficult, rough road to the cottage and not all guests would know it.

It really is a beautiful view and the service from Gerda and Herby is amazing. They made me feel so welcome. The house is clean and beautiful. I will come back again for sure.
We had a great time at Kaltenbach Cottage. The dead silence in the evenings let us sleep well and rest. The unit is not too far from the tarmac.
We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the view. Hopefully we can visit there again soon.

We enjoyed a pleasant couple of days despite inclement weather, and would consider staying there again.
Very cute place. The owners are very friendly and comforted us when we had a setback in health that prevented us from traveling. The place is very cute and well equipped and homely furnished. Only recommendation I can make is a double bed and steak knives. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
