147 guests' feedbackWe had a great time camping. Everything was clean and tidy and the private bathroom/kitchen area at our campsite was very comfortable. And it is very close to the waterfall. Carli was very helpful and even offered to watch our puppy while we visited the valley. Will definitely stay there again!
Delicious. Everything was clean and tidy. Comfortable beds and crisp linen. Right next to the river. We will definitely stay there again.
Pleasant stay in peaceful surroundings.
A completely different experience to sleep in such a luxurious tent for us. Everything was very neat and clean and everything you need is available. Next time we will remember only good fishing. Lovely to wake up to frogs and geese by the river.
Very nice location and nice set up.
We had a great stay! Very neat and comfortable.
An environment filled with nature and bright stars. Friendly reception and everything you need and more. Tent house is very comfortably furnished for any season. Space is lovely, and everything is super neat. The charm of nature's elements with bright stars and fresh air greets you in the morning with a spectacle of the sun's rise. Truly a place to experience, and disconnect from the hustle and bustle. Thank you for masterful hospitality.
Wonderful, peaceful and.
We had a very nice stay.
Wonderfully quiet, tidy with the most beautiful nature.
Yes, very nice stay. Best place to spend the night if you want to visit Augrabies National Park. Neat glamping tents with comfortable beds and enough amenities.
Fantastic - Exactly like the photos and lovely open space outside.
It was one of the nicest overnight weekends in the Kalahari.
We stayed at Kameeldoring Camping for 2 nights, in the tented chalets. Although we experienced strong winds, we enjoyed our stay and would love to visit again. The whole camping terrain is very neat and clean, and there is more than enough space to go on walks along the river.
Here you can relax and everything is so nicely furnished.
The most beautiful green lawn that immediately makes you feel at home. Aircon in tent another big bonus. Very safe, you can just sit back and enjoy the silence! Camelthorn Camping is definitely recommended!
It was a wonderful experience. Everything was perfect and in the right place. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. We will definitely stay again. The tent is sturdy and the air conditioner is a life saver.
Good, better, best to stay with your dogs, thanks for the A/C.
The tent camp completely exceeded our expectations, very neat and we had a very nice stay.
Had a great stay and will stay there again.
Excellent value for money accommodation. Neat bathroom and working kitchenette. An awesome tented experience on the banks of the Orange River.
It was heavenly and the children enjoyed it immensely. Very tidy and the location is perfect just outside Augrabies.
Excellent location, friendly people, accommodation is top notch, the place is tidy, bedding is clean, kitchen area is clean, everything was perfect! Will definitely recommend this place to other people.
We were pleasantly surprised! We had a wonderful stay. The unit was clean and had everything needed. You get everything advertised. We can really recommend Camelthorn.
Very nice stay. Close to Kgalagadi to go in quickly early morning.
Clean, nice grass and good atmosphere.
Very neat campsite with the comfortable glamping tents which are really worth the effort. The aircon is an absolute plus when it gets hot and the campsite is very neat and grassy. It is literally walking distance from Augrabies and along the Orange River.
Good location. Lovely grounds with extensive lawns, a kids' play area, and a pool. Well-maintained. Spacious camping sites. It rained one night and the kitchen roof leaked quite badly (in one long line - where attached to a crossbeam?). Not an issue for us though. Will stay again.
Very nice, neat, comfortable. Was amazing to be woken up to the call of an osprey and goslings. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Excellent, an amazing location.
Had a lovely stay. The tented chalet sleeps 4 with a double bed and two singles. It is right next to the river bank. The management is very friendly and accommodating. It is right next door to Augrabies Falls.
Had a great stay there. Will recommend them for sure. Slept very well there. Tents were excellent.
Super stay. Excellent reception of guests. Well run!
At night water was pumped from the river and it bothered me and sleep was difficult. I would like to visit Kameeldoring again because the day was nice and my dog was welcome, but they will have to solve the problem of the night noise.
Camelthorn was an oasis after we had traveled through Botswana and Namibia and were tired of camping. The safari tents were like a hotel room, with everything we needed, and the most comfortable beds (we slept very well). It was so nice for us to see the green grass and bunnies, and the air conditioning was of course a highlight in the heat of December. The location is excellent, 600m from the Augrabies National Park's gate. Camelthorn was the best accommodation from our trip and made sure we were fresh and ready for the long journey back home.
Fantastic venue, close to Augrabies and other attractions in the area. Much better than the accommodation at Augrabies.
Except for the heat, our stay was fantastic - we would have loved to extend our stay! Friendly service with a smile from Lettie - very warm welcome - Dankie Lettie!
Very nice stay. Great mattresses and bedding. Thank you for a very effective aircon.
The room was pretty neat and clean and the setting was a true Kalahari experience.
The entire site is clean, tidy and green. There is so much to see. The glamping tents at Kameeldoring Camping are very well equipped with everything you could need. We were kindly received. It is literally on the banks of the Orange River. We could swim well.
It was really nice. Fantastic experience we would go again anytime. Only suggestion for improvement is the cooling. The current one makes a lot of noise and is not effective in the heat we have been experiencing. The solar power had of course been a big plus.
Beautiful place with everything needed. It was asked in advance to bring drinking water and everything necessary. Lower green lawns with sufficient coolness. Playground for the children and a swimming pool. Hot water with strong pressure. Everything was just perfect!
It is absolutely delicious. Definitely the place to book in that area.
So regret not staying longer. Beautiful. Peaceful.
Lovely park, well maintained. Ablutions at campsites are neat and clean. We were received very kindly and service was consistently good. We felt very safe.
This is a place to relax, staff nice and friendly, clean, all you need is in the unit, will recommend.
Lovely clean and tidy accommodation and professional reception. Thank you Karli.
Kameeldoring is located very close to the waterfall and against the Orange River which makes it a nice and comfortable place to stay with friendly service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to go to Augrabies.
Accommodation was as expected and more. Very conveniently located next to Augrabies National Park too.
We had a wonderful stay even though it was winter. The tent was pretty neat. The bedding was nice and warm and we had a nice shower under the gas shower. The view from the bed on the river is beautiful.
We will definitely stay there again, but next time for sure longer.
The luxury tent chalets are not part of the rest of the campsite and that makes it 500% worth it! It was so quiet that our ears were ringing the first night. We were there to do some stargazing too and it was perfect! If it weren't for the full moon, we would be able to see so much more. Will definitely come back when it's not full moon and the people are very helpful. We realized one night here at 8 o'clock we didn't have hot water and they were there within 30 minutes to fix our geyser. The service was just fantastic!
Nice well-maintained campsite right next to Augrabies. Fewer midgies and monkeys than Augrabies which is great. The private toilet and shower too!
Neat accommodation in the tent house. The kitchen on the stoep was very comfortable and cozy with a fire burning in front of you. Karlien was very friendly and helpful in getting extra wood soon!
Beautiful setting on the banks of the Orange River and is very closely located to the Augrabies Falls. The accommodation was perfect with all the necessary amenities. Will definitely recommend.
We only regret we couldn't stay another day longer. Thank you very much for the peaceful atmosphere.
We had a lovely time in a luxury tent for what we paid. Glamping at its best. Brand new towels, comfortable bed, nice bedding, air conditioning, fully equipped kitchen. We were very impressed. Good value for money.
Excellent service and location.
Perfect place located. Friendly, helpful service. Value for money. A few minutes from the Augrabies and you can hear the falls in the evening.
We experienced the flood of the Orange River. On the way to Kameeldoring they let us know that the river had washed away the road to the camping area. The owners offered to host us on the Wildsplaas and did not ask us anything extra. Although we were looking forward to fishing and swimming and experiencing the camping section for an option going forward, the Game Farm was a totally different and wonderful experience. Many thanks to owners. We had a great time and enjoyed the tranquility. Both the camping area and farm are a few kilometers from Augrabies falls, which is of course an experience like never before!
Comfortable, beautiful, friendly service.
Very beautiful and wonderful place to relax by the river. We will definitely come again.
Very nice camping place.
Our stay was really very nice and relaxing. The place is spotlessly clean and only a few hundred meters from the main gate to Augrabies National Park. The only issue (but not their fault at all due to load shedding when we arrived) was to get hold of the host to let us in. There was absolutely no cellphone network available to contact her, and it could be a good idea to contact them (other than via cellphones) when there's load shedding.
The tent was a lovely surprise. It is spacious, clean, tidy and well furnished. The surroundings are peaceful and the campsite with its green grass and trees is like an oasis. The icing on the cake, were the ospreys that regularly called out their presence. Delicious, blissful! We will definitely come here again.
We drove a long way and didn't arrive until late afternoon, but the units were equipped to make the evening there special and the sunrise was just another bonus. Units are not pushed on top of each other, so privacy is also valued.
Well established luxury tents with airconditioning. Only 2 out of 5 tents have actual views of the river, so ask specifically for number 1 or 2 otherwise you are looking at bushes. Large open bin right outside could be moved elsewhere and a bin with a lid provided. No gas facilities, only a single plate induction plate, so you have to coordinate yourself around loadshedding, otherwise put everything on the braai. Pool is a stand up Intec type, which was refreshing but a bit precarious to climb into over the ladder and it was a bit murky. Otherwise, very clean, neat and well kept.
Beautiful place, secluded, lovely red dunes! Delicious!
Francois is so helpful and it is beautifully and comfortably furnished!
Lovely campsite near the falls. The air conditioner is a winner, winter or summer. One can see that guests' opinions are taken into account. Safe and well equipped.
Beautiful surroundings. Would definitely recommend.
The campsite is breathtaking and very very tidy, tent house is very tidy and everything was in place.
It is perfect for an overnight stay or for the weekend. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you. We had breakfast in the park, which was really nice. The water level was low, which is to be expected this time of year. Will have to come back in summer to see the real beauty of the Augrabies falls. The park is neat and well maintained. We explored some of the routes that were highlighted and enjoyed every minute of our adventure. If you want to get out of the city and enjoy nature, this is the perfect place for R & R.
The place looked like a peaceful camp site, but unfortunately the noise is not there for us. Left 1 day earlier to find a quieter place. The door to the tent did not work well.
Beautiful location. Many thanks to Lettie who looked after our dogs while we went to see the Augrabies Falls. The campsite is in mint condition!
The glamping was amazing! My partner and I took my Gran for her first experience and she absolutely loved it. The manager came and checked in on us, the rooms were clean and the aircon was a lifesaver! It was so beautiful and serene. Definitely coming back!
Very neat and well equipped. Calm atmosphere. Can really recommend.
Very nice campsite and very good decisions were made when the campsite was built.
Great location close to the falls.
Great overnight stop on the way to Augrabies. Wonderful service and lovely forest experience with the sound of the falls in the background. Definitely worth sleeping over.
The location is perfect. The friendliness of the staff is top notch. The tents are very neat and clean and very well equipped. The only problem was the gas geyser that didn't want to work right away, but the drivers came to our tent right away and solved the problem. Thank you very much for that, your friendly service was really top notch. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely stay there again!
Right on the Orange River, 3 kms from Augrabies. Grounds well kept and chalets equipped with everything you need. Will certainly visit again!
We enjoyed our stay incredibly much. It is beautiful place.
Beautiful little units in a calming and beautiful location. There is enough spacing between the units to allow a fair degree of privacy. There is a lot of scenery, birds and other small wildlife to admire on the grounds. The unit is cosy, with 2 single beds. Perhaps having some double bed units would be nice? The host and staff and very friendly and keep everything clean and tidy.
Fantastic! The houses are very nice with very nice bedding, shower, and well equipped. We will definitely be back!
Very nice, calm and friendly welcome. Near Augrabian falls. Had a wonderful stay. Thank you very much.
Was kindly received and could take our Yorkie with us. The Orange River, in flood, was about 25 yards from our porch. I recommend Kameeldoring Camping everywhere when I share my photos.
The campsite was flooded and they moved us to the luxury tented chalet for two nights. What an amazing experience.
We were pleasantly surprised with the space of the unit/tent, as well as the bathroom. Particularly well equipped with fridge, crockery, washing up area and microwave as a bonus. Wonderfully peaceful. Will recommend for sure.
We only had an overnight stop before Kgalagadi. Neat and comfortable accommodation. Close to the falls.
Beautiful campsite. With swimming pool and wading into the Orange river access. Super comfy tents with beds and bathroom and kitchenette. Well thought out tent structure and lockable. Thanks for all the screen opening possibilities (Fab for a Claustropbobic!) Aircon is an absolute bonus.
Very private, peaceful and a very beautiful setting.
We had a picture in our heads with pictures we saw, and this is what we get. Lettie, the hostess, is friendly, pleasant and makes you feel immediately welcome. Thank you Lettie, thank you for allowing us to experience nature with you again.
Our reservation was for Tented Chalets, and due to a lot of rain and Orange River's flood, they let us stay in their Luxury Tented Chalets. We really appreciated it and had a great time there.
The camp and accommodation are very neat and very beautiful. Hettie and the other workers very friendly and helpful. Owner wasn't willing to do anything about it in the heat and the fact that everyone in the camp was complaining about the dirty pool, so that was a disappointment.
Would love to have a place to fish.
We had a great time, thank you very much for being pet-friendly, the lawns are beautiful and the ablution facilities are very neat. Next time I want to relax there for a whole week, and the bonus is of course that you are at the entrance to the Augrabies National Park - a gem.
We spent the night in a tent chalet. What a surprise. Was clean, tidy, with a neat little kitchen. The air conditioner was definitely a bonus. Against the river. Would definitely recommend the little paradise.
Kameeldoring really exploits their setting. The tented chalets are lovely but the fasteners to keep blinds open no longer work and it is quite a business tying up your blinds. The cleaning was incomplete and the reception took ages to arrive. Perhaps if they need warning they could co-ordinate an approximate arrival time. On the other hand, they have really set up their chalets for the visitor's maximum enjoyment and responded as fast as they could to queries. I think they should warn you to bring your own firewood because there are lovely braai facilities.
Did not receive accommodation requested, one bed for two big men. Electrical system works off battery's, that lost all power at 21:00. So no electricity for pumping water when using the toilet, no lights, no charging of phones, and very bad phone reception.
Did hours of research using the apps map to have access to the river and ended up on the side of the main road I was avoiding. This would have been perfect if my intention was to go to the bushveld. In which case I would not have even gone to Augrabies at all I have many nice places closer to home.
There was a double booking and we could not sleep at Kameeldoring camping. Would love to hear your version of the problem.
Had a great time. Quiet, no noise except the falls.
Very comfortable and clean. Give wood to the donkey.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. It was terribly hot so would just love it if the porch could be a little sheltered to at least be able to make and enjoy breakfast, because the sun is burning you to death. Other than that there is absolutely nothing to complain about. It was breathtakingly beautiful and just the tranquility one needs to switch off and relax. I would highly recommend Camelthorn.
Good value. The tent houses are well furnished and have a very nice location with friendly service.
Camelthorn was perfect for our visit to the Augrabies Waterfalls. Right by the river with awesome sunset spot. Nice spacious area and large lawns where you can relax quite quietly.
On the Valle's doorstep. Neat and clean and enjoy the separate ablution block and kitchen.
Amazing experience!
We stayed in a tented chalet. Well-equipped and comfortable. Clean and surprisingly spacious. Charlotte, the young manager on duty, was fantastic, very helpful and accommodating. Half way through our stay the electrical board kept tripping and left us without electricity. I sleep with a CPAP machine and besides our food in the fridge and freezer require the electricity. It was a Sunday and they could not get an electrician so without delay Charlotte organized a nearby chalet that was empty and we promptly moved to a new one with all working. Fantastic. Thank you Charlotte.
The management will just have to pay attention to the noise of some of the guests. There was a group that played loud music until late in the evening (00:00). Other than that we enjoyed it.
The luxury tents had everything needed, including the most amazing sunrises and sunsets. It is a quick drive to the falls and other attractions in the area. I would recommend some insect repellent in the unit or a reminder to guests to take some along.
Very nice location, in the middle of nowhere overlooking Kalahari plains. Chalet nice and luxurious, everything you need, fire place ideal to sit and look at the stars.
The campsite was tidy and the "tents" placed so that they are quite private. The overnight stay was neat and clean. It would have been a bonus if braai wood had been included in the overnight cost! Although the location is special on the banks of the Orange River, it was not as quiet as one would expect it to be outdoors. There was a constant rumble of either vehicles or machinery in the distance which disturbed the atmosphere a bit.
It was very quiet and peaceful and accommodation was neat and clean.
Really enjoyed staying there, riverbed very nice to walk in. Thabo is definitely an asset to the place, makes the extra effort. Cottages and Camp maintain good social distance from each other.
Nice close to the falls. Very nicely equipped. It was really delicious.
Kameeldoring Camping is perfectly located in terms of SAN Parks, Augrabies and the Valles. The tent accommodation is neat and clean with a modern bathroom, enough power points and a well-equipped kitchen. Charlotte gave us excellent service and the other staff are also friendly and very helpful.
Lovely and we'll stay there again when in the area.
Lovely campsite. Slept so well, just camped for an extra night! Children really enjoyed it.
There is very little information about these two tents. It is not at the usual tents on Kameeldoring but on the game farm. Completely on the other side of the road. You must take your own drinking water and ice. There is only a braai with lots of wood and a single gas stove on the stoep. The 2 tents are brand new. Lovely bed, fridge etc etc. I don't know if the tents are serviced every day. It doesn't bother me because I prefer it that way. Sharlotte a student looked after us. We were a little scared when we got there, all alone in the field. She offered to come and set up her tent to look after us - you don't get that kind of hospitality every day. Of course, this was not necessary - it is extremely safe.
Lovely peaceful experience. We will go again.
We came to walk the Klipspringer and it was not clear on the website that the tents are on a different site. Kettle in the kitchen please.
Particularly pleasant stay. Clean neat and modern. Equipment excellent.
See stars.
Comfortable stay. Need information on using the stove.
Clean. Friendly. Tidy. Helpful. Beautiful scenery.
Bathrooms very open, no doors, we had to use a ladder to indicate that someone was occupying the bathroom.
Would have liked the owners to communicate with us personally. Only sent the kids to see if everything was okay. There were, for example, no ice trays in the fridge to make some ice now and it was very hot. The next morning there was no water and only the workers came to apologize. Had no contact from owners.
Nice stay, but you are between farming and community so the noise from the community is until 2 in the morning, every morning. About a 100 m walk to the river. You simply choose a path yourself and walk because there are no directions. People are a bit disorganized. Two other campers came to buy wood from us because the owner comes out very late so people sit without hot water/fire. The wood they provide for the donkey is pointless and never catches fire. After 30 minutes on a gas bottle it still didn't burn. We also gave other campers camel thorn because they couldn't get donkey going either. The facilities and camp itself are very nice. Just drink a few capsules so that you sleep through the noise of the other people. Would go again but as a group, not as a quiet getaway.
The premises and camping area were very well maintained. Located very close to the Augrabies National Park. Beautiful surroundings. However, the disappointment was that we expected there to be a swimming pool, which there was not. Under facilities it is listed that there is a swimming pool. After I asked where the pool was I was just told that the pool was closed because it was broken and that it had been cold recently. The game drives and game viewing are also not on site as listed.
Located on the orange river, a stone's throw from Augrabiesvalle. Glamping at its best with beautiful tents with everything you would need. Air conditioner was a life saver in the 40 degree afternoons. Would recommend that they set up a swimming pool on site, then it would be the perfect campsite. Beautifully furnished tents. Thank goodness there was an air conditioner in the tent. Only negative was the above ground pool. The climb over the ladder was a bit difficult, it's too small and the water was terribly dirty.
Great facilities and campsite. Staff very helpful!
We will definitely book again, so far already busy making plans for Easter weekend. The cleanliness, privacy and safety. Something for the books. Thank you very much Camel Thorn. Definitely see again.
It is beautiful and special. Good for the soul.
Great place.
It is just the music somewhere at night till late or through out the early morning hours non stop. But it was not in the camp.
Definitief waarde vir geld sal weer daar bly vir langer.
Large, spacious pitches with large trees that provide shade all day. Each pitch had its own kitchen and bathroom facilities, hot water by donkey - this was very convenient with a 4 year old and 11 month old baby. Grass is leafy green and kids can run and play and ride bikes. And there is a swimming pool too. Just make sure they have shoes on, because there are a lot of thorn trees (hint hint...name of the place). Lettie and her husband are very nice people and very friendly, they personally brought us wood every night. Augrabies' entrance can be seen from the gate, so it's definitely worth camping there!
Lovely camping atmosphere in fully equipped tents with air cooling. Tents are private and grounds are quiet and tidy. Very close to Augrabies gate. Lovely place.
Camp site on grass with ablutions and kitchen area in one block with donkey boiler for hot showers. Adequate for our group of 7.
Tents were nice and clean with all the basic equipment. Air conditioning helped incredibly, and the campsite was safe and the kids could ride bikes and play. The stars in the evening were amazing.
Campsites very well equipped and tidy. The staff very friendly. Would recommend to any person. Value for money.
Kameeldoring is excellently located to visit the Augrabies Waterfall and national park. The tent we stayed in was clean, tidy and comfortable. Can definitely recommend it to travelers.
Everything was excellent only negative is that shower heads are not adjustable
1st night the gas bottle was empty and no hot shower for us after the long day on the road. Fortunately, Thabo was there early the next morning to help. Thabo is a forward and got very good service from him. This is not a fishing joke. However, is advertised as such. It's impassable to the river. So if you go fishing in the river, look for another spot. I'm pretty disappointed in that. The kampong across the road is very noisy, especially on weekends. Until the morning hours. The camp is clean and tidy. As well as the tent chalets. Luckily we took enough Doom with us or the flies would have carried us away.
Neat, clean accommodation and the site is green and well looked after.
