41 guests' feedbackThe Kloof Cabin is absolutely fantastic. Clean, air conditioned and beautiful inside. We were provided with wood, fire lighters, ice and chocolate. Nice pool and jacuzzi. We had so much fun relaxing and resting!
Had a great stay, enjoyed the tranquility.
Here is where you can rest in seclusion and silence from the background noise of only the forest. Fantastic view and sunrise. Owner and staff are friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our time there enjoyable. Thank you very much.
The Kloof Cabin is really a fantastic choice if you need privacy and tranquility. Fantastic view, well equipped, clean, tidy, aircon, splashpool and jacuzzi, and on top an outdoor braai with a view too.
The photos on the website do not come close to how breathtakingly beautiful the place is. The Karee Krans Camp & 4x4 is very well equipped and remote, offering absolute silence and privacy. Attention was given to the small details such as milk in the fridge, a bag of ice, and a treat for the children and the parents.
It's the one place I don't want to write about because I'd rather keep it to myself. We really enjoyed our time at Karee Krans. It's a Bushveld holiday for the books! The staff are friendly and helpful. The camp is so well looked after and tidy. The animals are well cared for and walk comfortably around the camp. The owner Oom Dup comes to introduce himself to you and make sure you don't need anything. It is not just a business for him, but something in which the uncle places great value. We stayed in the kloof cabin and it was perfect. The cottage has everything you could want! The children really enjoyed the water and we enjoyed sitting in the water and enjoying a real Bushveld sun bag while the fire's flames danced to one side. What struck me is the personal imprint the owner left for us as guests. The Easter eggs in a basket, spoiled coffee bags next to the kettle, and a little cream, soap and small shampoo bottles on our towels. Where else does one find this and this in the Bosveld? Karee Krans is like the best medicine, the front disc is waiting for you too!
It was so fun!
It is a beautiful place in an exceptional location. Everything we needed for a weekend. The wonder of the Creator's hand is breathtaking.
Lovely few days in the forest with beautiful nature around the house and lots of birds. Nothing and no one bothering you, no noise around you. Just the place to end with loved ones.
Loved the log cabin. Such a beautiful setting right in the bush. Clean and equipped with everything we needed. Such a great getaway. Really loved the experience and will definitely be back.
Nice stay. Have a nice relax. Next time we will try the sites with private ablution. Very nicely redone.
Our stay was pleasant. It was one of our first camping holidays, so it was a new experience. The facilities were really nice and clean. Having youth groups at the same facility is worth mentioning. We didn't mind the extra noise, but if you were looking to have a peaceful bush break, there were times when the noise was quite a lot, especially early on Sunday morning, so maybe check if they have tour groups at the same time as your stay.
The place we stayed in was nice and tidy. There is everything you need at the place, nice and quiet. The owners were very nice and helpful.
Kloof Cabin was a nice getaway, private and a short distance from the main campground. The cabin has more than what one needs for self-catering. People who want to stay with a small car, I would rather suggest the Log cabin because road condition to the Kloof cabin because the rain washes the rocks open. They did make an effort to make the rocky road passable so that we could leave the cabin. This is an ideal cabin for a group that has a tall car or bakkie.
The drive was amazing from Alberton and our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. We will definitely be back. Pleasant and friendly vibe felt by all!
It was a very nice house to stay in. Nice and quiet. Will definitely go again.
Quiet, romantic getaway for a couple or bush weekend for a family. The plunge pool and Jacuzzi on the veranda with a small boma for atmospheric fire and a built-in braai, make this cottage a place where you can refresh and recharge. The farm has wonderful hiking trails and you can also climb the mountains. There are 4x4 routes. Not suitable for driving around and wildlife watching, but the cottage is so nicely rested that you don't mind just hanging out there. Cottage equipped with everything you need, even coffee, tea, sugar and milk!
Management was unwelcoming. They placed our group of people in two different locations which were very far apart. The individuals who own the place were just plain rude, as if they were running a charity.
See stars.
Located just far enough for tranquility, but not too far that you get there tired. The children really enjoyed the pond with canoes, slide and trick slide. The one problem we experienced was promptly attended to and someone was immediately dispatched to assist. The 4x4 route was quite rough and we didn't expect quite such a difficult road, but it was very exciting. It was very quiet in the evening and even though we weren't that far from the campers, we didn't hear or see anyone. Definitely a vacation for the books!
Fantastic, peaceful woodland atmosphere!!
All I would recommend is that a 4x4 is the best vehicle during the rainy season.
We will definitely go camping at Karee Krans again. We enjoyed it very much.
A gem of a destination in the heart of the forest. The unit is super luxurious, neat and clean, and all your needs are catered for. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful with something to do for the whole family. We are very grateful for the opportunity we had to spend a weekend at Karee Krans. We will definitely go back regularly and recommend to anyone looking for an ideal break from the city's busy and hectic life.
We enjoyed it so much. It was a nice men's weekend - just us and the boys. The place is nice and close to Rustenberg, the campsites are well located in the forest and the log house is amazing. There is so much to do as a group - we caught some nice fish, swam with the children in the pond and drove 4x4. It is also ideal for a weekend away as a couple. Very private, quiet and safe. We will definitely come again soon.
The 2nd time we visit Karee Krans over December. Even with a small car you will easily be able to book the Kloof Cabin, just ask ahead of time for the management to scrape or clean the path. The cabin is clean, tidy and very comfortably furnished. Even mother-in-law managed with her walking frame in the woods. Everything you need to break away. Friendly people and amazing service. The views are incredible. The nature is unspoiled and beautifully clean. Easy walking trails. The time there is unforgettable.
The house is in the mountain and far from everything and everyone. The road is difficult for a low car. The host helped us get home safely with his 4x4. It was wonderful.
Karee Krans is neat, clean and easy to find. The people are friendly and very hospitable. Going to book the same place again.
Karee Krans is a cute place with a lot of potential. We specifically chose Karee Krans for the privacy of the log cabin with its own pool. Unfortunately on arrival the swimming pool was very dirty and without water. So we thought it was an outlier. No one explained to us how it works. We also only found out on Saturday that the large swimming pool advertised on the website is actually only for a certain group staying there, and in any case was also out of water and out of order. At least there was another pool we could use. No garbage was removed during the weekend. There were no garbage bags either. No toilet paper has been replaced nor is there a shop nearby to go and buy such a thing. On leaving Pretoria on Friday we called and asked if we would be able to get wood and on arrival there was no wood for us, so could not make a fire on Friday evening. Friday night the weather was blustery and there was a power outage that affected a large portion of the area. Helga, who helped us, was not very helpful with the questions we had about the power. We were there with small children and she just said there was no possibility of a generator. We considered leaving on Saturday afternoon. However, the owner of Karee Krans then came to visit us and offered help to try to save a difficult situation, they were able to bring extra wood, lighters and a gas bottle. He offered another night's accommodation for free which was unfortunately impossible for us. I'm sorry that the owner's management let him down, and also that we still paid full price for a weekend that we couldn't get everything that was promised. I would like to visit Karee Krans again if all the problems are solved. But now I feel like I lost money.
It's a very nice resort ─ with a little attention it could be so much nicer. Due to floods, most of the 4x4 routes were impassable, but we had to pay the full amount to be able to drive. The bathrooms could be renovated a bit ─ the doors and showers are broken. We had to ask for toilet paper and the nine days we were there the ladies bathroom was only cleaned once. The little shop could perhaps stock a little more stuff like bread during the holidays. Maybe a little more lighting at the campsites. The lights that are there don't work. The day before we left, they made some effort to cut the grass at the camp sites a little shorter.
Had a great stay and will go again.
No comment no extra mile with gas or anything as power went off.
Very nice and tidy campsite, friendly reception, will definitely camp here again!
With great excitement we packed the car for a nice camping weekend in the forest. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised at how big our pitch was. We had a nice walk, cycled, swam and even went 4x4 driving. However, it was Saturday morning that left a bitter taste in the mouth after the children's bikes were stolen. The owner tried to help but could find nothing but tracks. He said that he and I would sort something out about the co-payments if I could claim them. However, he soon changed his story after my insurance informed me that the bikes were not covered. I had to hear that he was sorry but that's the way it is. So yes, if you want to go camping there but bring your own wait with you to take care of your things or bring your insurance up to date.
Very dry. Only 1 of the 3 dams has water in it. The obstacle course was neglected and we couldn't really take advantage of it. The log cabin was nice but very basic for what we paid. No stove. The one-plate stove does not work with the pans or pots. So we couldn't make breakfast. There is no place in the shower to put your soap, which was a bit awkward. Although the shower works very nicely. It's a very nice and peaceful place. Far from the city. The swimming pool at the log house was lovely and we enjoyed it very much. The staff were very helpful. I just feel it's not really value for what we paid.
I wouldn't easily book a place in that area again - there isn't much to do and it can get boring.
We were received by Riaan and Marlize as if we were old acquaintances. We definitely recommend it.
Any time again, would recommend for large group visits too!
People were very friendly and the farm/resort was incredibly fun things to keep you busy all day and beautiful nature-rich area to admire
The shower facilities are not private enough, perhaps erect a proper wall between the two showers in the ablution block, especially on the ladies' side. The 4x4 routes are really well planned and laid out. A beautiful setting and the host and his wife were pleasant and helpful. We just couldn't find them to say goodbye and thank them when we left a day earlier due to illness. We had a great time!
The place is incredibly beautiful from a scenic point of view. The 4x4 route is wonderful. The facilities more than adequate. However, I was disappointed with the enforcement of camp rules. A group of people moved in on the second day of my stay and were so noisy (loud music, drunken fighting etc). I tried to locate the management to enforce the rules but could not get hold of them. Finally, I cut my stay short by two days and came home. Otherwise, the place is to be recommended.
