Great tent camping in the snow. Wonderful memories.
This is a gem of a place hidden between the mountains by the river. Perfect getaway to switch off and relax.
Enjoyed the time very much.
The view, tidy campsite and clean ablutions made the stay highly enjoyable.
Very nice area. Children really enjoyed it. Just a little cold in the winter.
Had a great stay and enjoyed the silence, seclusion and nature.
Beautiful camping site.
We camped with a bush trailer. Lawn was nice and green, ablutions neat and clean. Make sure to charge your batteries beforehand as there are no electricity points.
A wonderful experience.
Excellent location, value for money, beautiful surroundings, nice trout in the river, lots of braai wood, neat accommodation and clean facilities.
Lovely cozy lapa with a fireplace. Safe in a beautiful environment.
The ideal campsite from which you can explore the surrounding natural beauty. The Vulture Cliffs, Jouberts Pass, SAR Tunnel, Rhodes and Tiffindell are some of the must-see places in the area!
It is not said in advance what the road looks like down the mountain to the pitches. Didn't know beforehand there was no power. Road really bad especially after the rain - really think you need 4x4 to get there. Reception not up to standard at all. Photos on website are not at all what you see there.
Elize and Ian thank you so much for being willing to share your piece of heaven with people, I hardly want to tell anyone - too many people are finding out about your gem right now. The visit there was a festival especially after the lovely rain that fell there. We didn't miss anything, the cottage contains everything you need, the whole resort is neatly maintained and the road is beautiful. If you want to rest and enjoy nature, this is definitely the place to visit!
See stars.
No cell phone reception, no electricity, private, directly next to a river, starry night in the pitch black darkness, campfire - what more could one want?
The pitches are lush green grass with the most beautiful view. There is no power on site so make sure you have the right supplies for it. It is quiet with only the noise of the water stream that you hear at night. There is also no cell phone signal and it is ideal for a break from reality.
Would like to suggest that more attention be paid to general housekeeping of the site and facilities.
The environment is breathtaking. The fact that there is no mobile reception really gives one peace of mind. The swimming pools in the river provide great relaxation and fun. The bathrooms could do with an upgrade.
Cut off from the world, between mountains and by the river. One feels part of nature, safe and relaxed. The starry sky at night is indescribably beautiful. The owners are hospitable and helpful. Remember to also book a tour to the vultures and tunnel with the owners. Do not miss it.
We were passing through and this place was right in the middle. We slept well there and were able to rest well.
Nature is beautiful, environment is beautiful, people are very cooperative, friendly and hospitable.
Beautiful with the cliffs and stream.
See stars.
Quietly camped along the river, with the necessary silence for a getaway. Apart from very strong winds that made setting up and taking down camp a bit challenging, the weather, hiking route, visit to the gorge were all worth it. Secure configuration. Campground has detached braai facilities, as well as a lapa. No cell phone signal at the campsite. Would definitely recommend and even camp here again on a next trip.
First time camping with new everything. Was met by the friendly owner and shown campsite. Although we only overnighted it was a pleasant stay with great scenery alongside a meandering river. Caveat: Noisy neighbours in the morning. (Just joking, a rowdy troop of baboons camped out on the slope opposite the campsite the night before and I suppose someone never prepared breakfast).
We camped for 2 nights at the Pink Rock next to the river with an incredible view of the cliffs. The camp was very quiet. Stars are breathtaking in the evening. If you like natural beauty with a rustic feel, this is the place to go. Close enough to visit Rhodes. Swimming and fishing nearby. There are gas geysers and no power so is 'primitive' in a good way!
Nice house with everything you need. We enjoyed the fly fishing.
Beautiful location. Ideal if you like tranquility, mountains and river. Wind was a bit unpleasant. But nice and cold in the evenings (end of April). Place was recently under water with floods, so owner still busy with some renovation and repair work.
Beautiful location and very peaceful. Would recommend to all my friends and definitely go back to Karnmelkspruit.
Awesome place and views, just electricity would be great instead of noise of generator during day from some other campers.
Would definitely recommend, just might not go again over December as the owner and family basically used the whole place and it almost felt like we were invading their privacy.
We had a lovely weekend, it is really peaceful and quiet and good for the soul. Our only negative was the ladies bathroom which was not cleaned, only on the Sunday when we requested it, they come to clean and the door on the shower in the ladies bathroom is broken.
Very nice and clean! The owner is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.
