It was very pleasant and the buffet dinner was delicious! There are activities at the camp which are not mentioned on the site, such as Shy 5 Game Drive in the evening or a Hippo Drive, as well as paddling around the lake. The shower curtain in the tented camp needs to be changed as it looks grimy, but I'm sure this will be done now that the season has ended.
The personnel went over and beyond to accommodate us.
Day 1's arrival was not at all what we expected. Very disappointed in the service. The boiler was dirty and full of lime. No outdoor bin available. No braai facilities available, had to plan and go looking for items. Very poor outdoor lighting. Bathroom is clean, but uncomfortable to use while people sit down for dinner and only an open glass door separates the view. Very poor water pressure and waiting forever for hot water. No reception was available and had to go find a person for help.
Will want to go again. Will recommend to other people.
It was a very nice and relaxing visit, just what one needs before taking the long road again. Had a wonderful sleep with the rain that fell and the lovely cool weather.
When we got there we were met with a lovely warm fireplace and hospitality that you rarely get these days. Everything was clean and tidy and the meals you get there are delicious! We will definitely go again.
We were very surprised with the farm and its people. The tent was very neat, clean and well equipped. The food was top notch and we had a great time visiting and eating!
It's really a place where you should stay more than 1 night.
Exceeded all expectations. Game drive at sunset was a highlight. From now on, this will be our stopover every year on our way to the Cape.
The hosts were marvellous under very straining circumstances- loadshedding which means no water for 4 hours just before dinner. They did well.

The farm is nice and nice, but next time we will definitely use the other accommodation facilities instead. The tents are uncomfortable and the shower water was cold. Ablution facilities are neither very private nor very clean. Buffet dinner was delicious.
There is more to this camp than just an overnight stay on route to final destination. It deserves a longer stay. There are game drives and interesting things to see and experience about the Karoo.
I get that it was cold, but should have been told before I arrived. The provided accommodation was however good.
Meeting was excellent; received us late and we were able to leave early again. Amenities were first class and a pleasant surprise. Admittedly, we stayed in the guest house and not in the tents.

It was truly a lovely place, we who love camping really enjoyed the tent overnight. Just a suggestion, if you could perhaps provide a small table with 4 chairs in front of the tent to be able to sit and eat outside.
Would only suggest a small fridge/freezer for people who want to keep meat or road food cold.

My wife, 3 boys and myself travelled from Port Elizabeth back to Pretoria overnight. Expectations exceeded for sure. We will now make it our overnight stop on the way to the sea! Definitely worth spending more than one night there.

Had a great stay, was sorry to leave. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts warm and welcoming. Loved the game drive down to see the hippo.
A jewel in the Karoo. The plains and the animals were an experience, the family atmosphere and truly unsurpassed food was good for the soul and not at all heavy on the wallet.

We were very kindly received in a homely atmosphere after a long day's travel. The tents are neat and clean and very well furnished with beds, lights and a kitchenette. The farm sounds around you immediately relax you. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer to participate in the activities.
After a long day on the road it was an unexpected oasis for tired bodies. Friendly reception, clean and tidy facilities, large lawns where children can run around safely and we were able to partake in bottle time for the hanslammers. You just feel like you're on vacation. More than just a place to stay.

We enjoyed the stay, the people are very hospitable and the food is great. The stay was very nice and we slept well, I would suggest if you have small children (under 5 years old) that you can book the chalets. As well as providing 1 or 2 baby chairs, it will also make meals for the guests with small babies more comfortable. But the service was excellent, the stay was excellent, the atmosphere was comfortable and made us feel like we were on vacation.

We spent one night here in the tented camp. The reception was great and PC immediately made us feel welcome. We decided at the last to eat at the restaurant and unfortunately they could not accommodate us. However, they made a plan and prepared an alternative dinner for us. The children really enjoyed the farm and animals. However, I would have liked to have a small bar fridge in the room for cold drinks etc. to keep cold However, they met us with our frozen food and stored it in the kitchen. I would recommend Karoo Gariep to everyone.

The place is clean. I would, however, have liked a small fridge and a braai outside the tent. PC and Mariska very friendly.

Some feedback, we missed the turnoff on the N1. Please add kms from Colesburg as well as Bloem. Also I was expecting a public gravel road, please mention "private road" and mention that the "Mario Garieb" sign is painted on a reddish gate, along with another sign, and is not a road sign.
Restaurant wat beloof was is alacarte het net buffet bedien tèen R180 p/p dus nooit vooraf genoem nie. Was n harde storm ini nag en die tent het gelek alhoewel al die flappe toe was. Die grondpad soontoe is in haglike toestand en nog erger die oggend na die reen.
The hospitality and service is fantastic. The food is heavenly tasty and the rusk is from the top seats and here you can certainly rest. It's peaceful and quiet. Clean and tidy. You will surely see us again.
