Have stayed over previously with my family. This time on a company trip. Always clean and tidy. Old house with wooden floors and character that goes with an old house. Best home baked rusks to go with your morning coffee.
The house was so neatly and cutely furnished. Will definitely stay there again.
The accommodation was basic but comfortable.
Fantastic place! Would definitely recommend it.
The rooms were functional and adequately equipped. Neat, clean, and ideal for an overnight stay. It was relaxing to sit down with a book after a long day on the road.
Stayed and slept very well.
Everything you need for a self-catering stay. The place really needs some TLC. The bright street light right in front lights up the room at night. Darker curtains would help. The host was warm and kind; she told us a lot about the area and the people.
The gas heater was a winner.
Cora welcomes you with typical Karoo warmth. Lovely bed with good linen and a nice soft pillow. The house has a typical Karoo atmosphere. There is everything you need, even delicious biscuits and milk in the fridge. There is no gas stove with a boiler to handle load shedding. There happened to be no load shedding. The unit needs some TLC. The bathroom's plumbing and cleanliness kept me from using the shower facilities, something that can easily be addressed. Doors do not close easily and as a result the smell from the bathroom was also in the bedroom. My second visit to the only restaurant, called Manna, was again just as disappointing. The staff is friendly, but the surfaces are not clean. I waited 45 minutes for a simple order to be carried out, and the salad was not fresh. The restaurant's doors and gates are closed before 8 pm when they close. The floors are mopped while you are still in the restaurant. A person who ordered a takeaway for 8 pm was standing outside at 8.10 pm because the gates were already closed. The owner's hand is needed here. I was the only seated guest in the restaurant from 18h45. The road icing out of town is poor, I drove 120 km unnecessarily after taking the wrong road. I lost 1 hour and 30 minutes on my travel time.
I had a nice stay. The location is appropriate.
Lovely old farmstyle charm. Not modern, but extremely comfortable. Our host has gone to great lengths to keep the original character of the guest house.
Slept well. Friendly welcome.
Unfortunately we didn't meet the hostess, but not her husband. Very friendly. Everything was beautiful and clean. Slept very well, especially after a long day of driving.
Authentic Karoo studio apartment with a spacious and comfy bedroom-cum living room. However, the bathroom is in the process of being renovated and the kitchen is very sparingly equipped.
Friendly welcome by Cora. The room is comfortable and ideal for an overnight stay. The taps in the bathroom may need some Tender Loving Care. We strongly recommend keeping a gas stove in the kitchen. We could have got up after us and before we left, not even making coffee because load shedding It is needed outside of load shedding anyway. We did plan to grill but all food and side dishes cannot be prepared in a microwave oven.
Karoohuis is always our choice of overnight accommodation when we travel from Bloemfontein to our little house in the Cape. It is cosy, private, clean and tidy, and the hosts are very friendly. We can recommend it.
Peaceful and tranquil.
I don't like to give negative feedback, talk to the owner instead. After reading the reviews we are very disappointed because we see the same complaints and shortcomings were also mentioned a year ago and the owner only promised to address them but still does not live up to the complaints. Like e.g. the shower's outlet pipe leaving a bad sewer smell in the unit. Cleanliness and hygiene leave much to be desired. If attention is paid to the complaints, it could be a jewel for Karoo Huis. We also note that previous customers' experiences at the Manna Restaurant were not positive either. We often come to the Karoo and each time experience the same deterioration of this restaurant which was also a gem and an asset to Williston in the beginning.
Not a nice stay at all. Place was sub-standard and not a testimonial for you guys at all. A lot of maintenance work needs to be done here and is not at all suitable for accommodation. Photos are misleading and do not reflect the true state of affairs. Watch out, friends!
There was no hot water in the bathroom. In the kitchen, yes, with poorly marked taps. The place is clean on the surface, but definitely needs a good cleaning - not at all up to standard for a guest house. Maintenance is definitely necessary. There was a request for electric warm blankets, which are considered standard in cold areas, but the request was not met.
Restful. Williston is so quiet your ears are ringing with silence, bliss! Cora is a wonderful hostess.
Will definitely stay here again. Cute clean town. The Manna restaurant on the main street is definitely worth eating at.
A peaceful experience in the middle of the Karoo.
And even more than I expected. Even milk. Freezer facilities and my dogs really enjoyed the short visit.
Lovely old fashioned charm with original wooden floors and wooden furniture. Spacious rooms. Hostess and her husband are very friendly, helpful people, real Karoo people.
Secure parking. Everything was clean and tidy. Had everything I needed.
Just stayed overnight, would definitely do it again.
I walked to the Manna eatery and later enjoyed a lovely, peaceful evening in the room.
Comfortable stopover on the way to somewhere.
I thought we would be very cold with the cement floor, but the gas heater warmed the room nicely. The hostess is very nice.
Very good value for money. Thank you for your trouble with my pillow.
The accommodation was comfortable and fully met our needs in Williston. Aunt Cora was always helpful and willing to go the extra mile for her guests. Thank you so much for a lovely time in Williston!
Safe, peaceful visit.
This was the 3rd time we used Karoo Huis and as before we were very satisfied with the unpretentious, yet cozy accommodation that Karoo Huis offers. The hostess is friendly and accommodating and the facilities are clean and tidy with everything needed for a day or two's stay. We will definitely use them again and can confidently recommend Karoo Huis.
A beautiful Karoo house. Was wonderfully cool inside with everything you need. Clean and tidy. The bed is a retreat for your tired body. Cora hostess.
Comfortable and cheap overnight facilities without frills. Nice hot shower and warm sleep. Pet friendly is a plus.
Very nice stay! Beautifully located. Host was not there but still made us feel so welcome and helped so nicely. Will definitely be back.
Clean and tidy. Value for money.
A little below standard, but ok for one night.
It's good enough if you want to stay overnight for an evening.
The owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of activities in town. The House is restored without detraction from the original woodwork and fitting, anything more would destroy the heritage, she is a grand old lady. Home-baked rusks in the rooms. Rechargeable globes fitted for our Eskom. Would love to come back for a few days as Williston has a lot to Offer. Phone 24 hrs in advance to book a tour of the Williston Mall. We missed out on this but stopped and took some photos.
Neat rooms. Nice clean.
We only spent one night in Williston on our way from Gauteng to the Cape. What a beautiful house. Original as can be, with wooden floors and all. Very friendly welcome and a very nice and peaceful visit. We hope to visit there again one day.
Accommodations were lovely with great furnishings. Warm hospitality and would return again.
Apartment was comfortable, everything we needed was there. It was clean and tidy. Would have liked to stay longer!
Very nice stay. The hostess was very friendly. We felt very much at home. Would like to stay in her tin house one day too.
Well equipped cottage and the hosts have gone to a lot of trouble to add extra touches.
Well rested, village is very beautiful and clean peaceful atmosphere.
Comfortable Karoo accommodation and hospitality.
Will visit again, no problem.
Easily accessible. Secure parking.
Very cute place, we had a nice stay and will definitely use Karoo Huis again. All that needs attention is the shower head - maybe it's time for a new one.
Quiet place to stay. Will recommend.
The reception was warm and cordial. The old-fashioned Karoo "look" was acceptable for one night's stay. With the bathroom we did not feel comfortable because of a strong sewage smell hanging there. Probably because the sink spout does not meet standard requirements. The shower faucets are done and need to be replaced. Because of this I cannot recommend the place.
Terribly beautiful decor. Wooden floors. Quiet, safe and nice people.
Very neat room/s with everything needed in beautiful Williston with a rich history. Our hostess went out of her way to enable us to enjoy a barbecue day experience. My dogs also enjoyed the sleepover. Support our Karoo community which is currently experiencing severe drought. We will definitely spend the night at Karoo house again!
The accommodation was lovely and our host for the evening was very friendly.
Very friendly welcome.
Had a wonderful stay and was very satisfied.
The decor of the apartment reminds you that you really are now in the heart of the Karoo - beautiful! This place is also properly equipped for barbecuing and self-catering, and is only a short walk from the famous Manna Restaurant. Perfect overnight stop on your journey through the countryside!
Relaxed wonderfully and walked around with the dogs in the safe, quiet neighborhood. Most beautiful old buildings. Stay was pleasant and hostess excellent. Will definitely stay here again.
Slept very well!
Great location. Great home and so comfortable. Had a great stay.
See stars.
Cora is a wonderful hostess, we had a great time and learned a lot about the area. Beautiful little apartment with a real cat that slept wonderfully.
Karoo House is a beautiful old house with wooden floors and a cement patio. The rooms are part of the house and have everything needed to make your stay very comfortable. It's neat and clean and spacious. Cora is a wonderful hostess and took time to answer all our questions about the town. We will stay at Karoo Huis again anytime.
Aunt Cora and Uncle Willem are the two friendliest people in the Karoo. They rushed to our aid where our car burst two tires 17 km from Williston. They arranged everything for us to repair the tires on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm. Selfless people! The apartment was very neat, clean and well equipped. We had a good barbecue and slept well. Nice time with the two people.
Loved the little town & our stay!
Comfortable overnight accommodation.
Friendly service, lovely bed, quiet and safe. Thank you very much!
The place is perfect for an overnight stay on the way to Cape etc. There is even a braai area and comfortable lounge chairs. The owner might consider putting in some air conditioners, the Karoo is a hot place!
Milo was a bonus, because it was very cold.
We like neat and well-maintained accommodations that speak of hosts' effort with their travelers' comfort. Karoohuis offers it to us. We would like to use WiFi, but we know it is not always possible.
Could have been cleaner and better equipped for self catering. Kitchen equipment was minimal.
There were no plates, knives and forks, only cups and glasses. Shower was not nice either. The morning of departure there was already noise from just after 6 o'clock in the morning and it had been disturbing as well as the night before. There was no notice anywhere that we had to bring our own "cutlery set", had to borrow from other people and I feel it is not value for money at all.
A beautiful place with very nice facilities and very friendly people who provided an excellent service. Will definitely stay there again.

The accommodation was ready when we arrived quite early. We were greeted kindly, even though it was past noon. The light in the bedroom did not work, and we expected there to be a TV in the room, but the overall tranquility made up for this. I would recommend Karoo Huis as a peaceful place to stay.
Very nice stay. The water drains do not smell good.
When we got there, no one was there. We called, no answer. The house next door also a BB. We then knocked on the door and here the woman said that she had the key and that she would unlock it for us. How were we to know that? The place is a disappointment. Trampled red cement floor with a dirty goat hair rug in front of the bed. The sink is one of these large outdoor sinks in which the utensils must be washed. No radiator or fan and no TV. We returned the key and went to sleep at "Soek 'n Slapie". Next time I will think twice before booking through the website.
