We have stayed at Karoo Lodge many times and have always enjoyed it. They offer a quiet, peaceful and safe place to stay. The hotel, most restaurants and various places that tourists can visit are within walking distance. The icing on the cake is the great hostess. Thank you.

I would not recommend the venue because of value for money. Similarly priced accommodation offers modern amenities and this venue is dated. There was no milk in the room for coffee and the shower head hardly worked.
The aircon in our room was faulty and did not work, and this while it was 36 degrees in Prince Albert. Beautiful bath in room, but we were told not to bathe (though water restrictions have already been lifted, and all the dams in the Karoo are full). Breakfast was served by a person who was still in her pajamas.

We were a little early on arrival and the hostess simply turned us away. Host and hostess have their own schedule and do not want to be disturbed. If you have an inquiry after hours they are incredibly incompetent - even shout at you.
Unfortunately, the bathroom floors were full of hair from previous people. Was no coffee in the rooms. Luckily brought our own coffee. Expensive for breakfast they serve. R110 pp paid. They were also unsure if the breakfast had been paid for. It was already paid.
Will book there again anytime.

Lodge very centrally located can walk to places to eat, can recommend the Hotel's food especially the Green Pince Ginbar's Hamburgers. Will stay at Karoo Lodge again if we are in the area.
Neat place but suddenly the breakfast consists of fewer ingredients according to the hostess, but the price of breakfast rises from R50 to R75 per person (only informed upon our arrival). Two eggs, two strips of bacon, two slices of bread, glass of soft drink and muesli / post toasties without hot milk and a spoon to scoop them out. The sheets feel as if they have just survived the Covid. We understand about the water scarcity that the bath was not to be used, only the shower. The floor of the shower consists of loose stones with a large and small round stone that you must stand on. Not sure how the shower floor is washed. If you are taller than 5 foot 10 you will have to bend down to wet your hair. Am I being too critical? This is our experience.
The venue is in the main street close to most of the restaurants, easy to access and so forth. The parking is safe and off-street. The hostess was most hospitable. The downside is that maintenance is needed in the rooms, the braai area (which we did not use as it was so overgrown), and the little gardens off the rooms. But I do acknowledge that the 8-year drought makes any form of gardening a challenge. An example of a maintenance situation, the shower in one of the two rooms we used has no H/C signs, it takes about 6 minutes for the hot water to come though which is a waste of water in a dry town. The shower head trickles water which makes a shower long and arduous. In a town with many guesthouses and B&Bs it is imperative to keep an eye on the "little things" to stay ahead. I am unsure whether I would recommend Karoo Lodge, it depends on what others are looking for.

It's probably the third time we've stayed in Karoo Lodge. It's a lovely place, friendly and hospitable host and wife. The breakfast is delicious, fresh and very well prepared. The rooms are spacious and cozy. It's safe for the vehicle. We definitely go back every time.

We thoroughly enjoyed the two nights stay. A real break and a break from the city's noise. It's a pity about the ongoing drought that makes gardening difficult, because the garden is actually a lush garden. Nevertheless, I would recommend that little things should be paid attention, i.e. a little more TLC will go a long way. Gardens / edges that appear a little unkempt, the pool tiles loosening piece by piece, the lampshade in the bathroom gone, the shower's stone needs to be moved correctly ─ these are just a few things that can be noticed. Then breakfast can also be a wider variety and bigger. E.g. Adding a piece of boerewors or baked beans or offering them as an alternative will help. However, I will easily return there again.

The TV facility had only the most basic SABC programs, no news, and one or two movie channels, whereas our other accommodation charging lower rates have full DStv premium facilities. The bathroom really needs to be improved. Overall the owners were friendly and the breakfast served was good.
