Thank you very much for your kindness.
Received extremely great service, even though I was 3 hours late in the night hours. Hot food is fine for me. Hot food was on. I unlocked the hostess with a smile at 11:00 p.m.
Very nice stay, friendly hostess, clean and tidy rooms.
Very nice stay at Karoo Uitsig.
Many thanks to Liz and John (and not to forget Skamp) for the wonderful Karoo hospitality you gave us. It was an incredible experience to be able to explore the town and meet you. It made our drive back home so much better. Thank you for those delicious muffins.
Comfortable place to stay with friendly and helpful hosts. Thanks for the rest. Will come stay again.
It was everything I needed it to be. They were kind enough to wait for me while I was delayed by the stop-and-go traffic.
10/10. Hospitable and clean.
Very nice and friendly people. Very helpful. Would definitely stay here again, without hesitation. Thanks Liz.
Our stay was amazing, the host was incredible and very informative. She made us the most delicious breakfast pack for the next morning and was such a kind and generous person.
The management welcomed us very late at night with open arms, thank you very much!
Karoo hospitality at its best. Peaceful, quiet accommodation.
They really go out of their way to accommodate you.
Yes, stay was nice - it needs a little bit of finishing, especially with the power cords, but other than that, showered and slept very well.
Rustic but peaceful - Lovely accommodating owners, really helpful. Easy stop over from CPT to JHB. A tiny town that is overlooked, a little oasis of nostalgia.
Hostess very nice and helpful. Electric blankets.
Terribly nice place nicely hidden at the bottom of town. We love the antiques and history of the house, slept great and will definitely stay again in the future.
It was a peaceful stopover on the way back home. The house and contents are old and in need of attention. You probably just get what you pay for. Liz and John are friendly people.
Welcomed by host, and recommended a restaurant where we had a very good meal.
All as expected from website.
Very, very old building/furniture etc., but fortunately, the shower and toilet worked, and although old, the bedding was clean.
It was our halfway stop between Joburg and Cape Town. It was very peaceful and the host was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Our family (husband and wife and 3 adult children) arrived at Karoo Uitsig late on Christmas Day 2023 and were warmly received. Everything was clean and tidy and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. We appreciated the mosquito nets over all the beds as well as the use of their crockery and cutlery even though we hadn't arranged for it in advance. We grew up in the Karoo and appreciate the old-fashioned farmhouse.
Very friendly hospitality.
Just what we needed. Clean shower and good night's rest.
Very nice stay. The hostess and host are very friendly. They go the extra mile to make you comfortable.
Very neat and comfortable, everything you need after a long day's travel. Friendly service, we felt right at home.
Very nice with the wooden floors and antiques. Very calm it was very nice.
See stars.
Great warm welcome, a beautiful place, spotless and very pet-friendly. Highly recommended!
Overall, I had a great experience at Karoo Uitsig. The owners were incredibly helpful and friendly, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, and they are pet friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised. The accommodation was all we needed. A clean, warm, comfy bed and then all the extras provided by Liz. She had turned our electric blankets on and had the gas heater going when we arrived. Made us all very comfy and nice cupcakes for our boys. The restaurant around the corner was great with delicious pizza. We will definitely recommend and return.
Louise is amazing, she goes above and beyond to make your stay special.
Louise goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable.
The house made me feel like I was back in my grandmother's house. The house and furniture reflect the age of the house. We were made to feel very welcome and the house was well equipped for an overnight stay.
Liz went out of her way to receive me kindly and make me feel welcome. She was in regular contact with me on the way to the stay to make sure I was traveling safely and made an effort to give directions. I checked in late, she put on my bed's warm blanket before load shedding and after I got my dinner at Feathers, there was a nice sherry to warm me up. Spacious rooms, plenty of parking, "homey" especially with the wooden floors.
Always a good halfway stop.
Old-world furniture that fits the Karoo.
Neat, friendly and very tasty food. Highly recommended.
Very nice stay. Child friendly and very peaceful. Good service and very clean.
Super considerate and friendly hosts provided us with a comfortable and affordable place to stop while on the road to Cape Town from Jo'burg.
Stay was neat and clean. The views are very beautiful from both the church and the Karoo plains.
A perfect overnight stay between Cape Town and Gauteng. The family room is very geared towards families, with toys/games/books for the children, a potty, bath toys in the en-suite bathroom, and enough space. There is a small shared kitchenette between the rooms in the house, which we didn't use, but it looked to have the basics needed for an overnight stay. The room had a coffee station, with sippy cups for the children! A wonderful stay, thank you. Just what was needed on our trip.
Liz and John are salt-of-the-earth and friendly people and make you feel very welcome. The Feathers restaurant has immaculate food at good prices. Great for a stopover to recharge on a long journey.
Liz is an incredible host and extremely accommodating. The room we stayed in was cosy and had everything we needed for a stop-over stay.
Liz is a pleasant hostess. She does everything to make you feel at home.
The place is old but clean and Liz provided us with a lekker dinner. There are lamps when there is load shedding. The car is parked inside the property and the gate is locked.
Not the best town to stay in if you are looking for a restaurant or shop to stock up for the rest of your trip. However, the stay at Karoo Uitsig was wonderful. Very homey, quiet, and safe.
Had a nice stay with warm scones and cheese as a surprise in the morning.
I feel the representation of the place is not what we expected.
Liz and John went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The rooms are very neatly furnished with a warm safe atmosphere. The garden and lawn are neatly maintained and it was truly a pleasure to spend the night here. We drove the next morning at 05:00 and John was already there at a quarter to five to see us off. Will definitely stay here again. Conveniently halfway between Pretoria and Cape Town.
It was delicious! Pet friendly, big bonus.
If you're tired of driving, Hanover is right in the middle between PTA and CT.
This is down to earth ordinary overnight accommodation. Clean, comfortable and well located halfway between Pta and Cape Town.
During power failure there was no water for toilet and shower. The heartbreaking whining barking of dogs was disturbing. Village is neglected!
Interesting, old house, well restored with comfortable living room. Antique accessories. Romantic. Friendly people who could tell about the very old village.
We probably expected a little better. Sorry to say but the place did not live up to our standards. Maybe we just expected a little more. Everything about the place is old. Decor, furniture, beds, mattresses, linen, curtains, kettle, cups etc.
It's an old house that looks run down from the outside. The house has wooden floors that creak terribly. If someone moves in the house, one is immediately awakened by the creaking of the floors. The mattress on the bed has already been slept through. When we arrived, the owners were sitting by the front door having a barbecue, and our room window was right next to the entrance. The house is also incredibly dark.
The owner of the guest house is very nice. The place doesn't look like the pictures at all. It also doesn't say anywhere that the rooms are inside a house and everything is shared. Luckily we were the only people there. It's really creepy. Mosquitoes eat people. The splash pool is empty. The braai area looks like a bath. Was very disappointed.
Neat, good location and ready for loadshedding. Everything we needed was there.
They were all very friendly and tried to make us feel at home.
They had prepared well for loadshedding and very helpful.
Lovely, feels like being on the farm.
The location between Johannesburg and Cape Town makes this place ideal. It is close to the highway, yet it is so quiet. The hosts are so hospitable and welcoming and are there to help in any way. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and I can't wait to come back.
The family room was already taken but they didn't hesitate to bring in an extra bed for my 2 year old and a cot for my 3 month old baby. Furthermore, they put a bathtub with a whole range of soaps, creams and shampoos for our baby as well as a 'potty' for the toddler in the room. There were also toys and the dear people played with our energetic little one with the utmost patience and dedication. We had everything and more we needed and there is a very nice restaurant nearby. We have never experienced the level of hospitality anywhere else. If you want to feel at home, book at Karoo Uitsig.
Short notice helped and rooms were clean and tidy. Fare was also affordable. Thank you very much.
Karoo uitsig is perfect for everyone. Our children was welcomed and really enjoyed the stay as well. Warm, neat and comfy for our stay.
The fish we got for dinner was really one in a million. Thank you very much for the nice break.
An ideal stopover between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Very reasonably priced. We had the most delicious supper served by our hostess at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this place.
We arrived late and they still prepared a delicious dinner for us. It felt like home. It's the oldest house with beautiful antique furniture. We will definitely come back and recommend you. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Has everything you need and suitable for a stopover on the way from Pretoria to Cape Town.
Friendly owners. Rustic building but clean and warm.
Thanks Liz, thanks John. It was a very cold night and the electric blanket helped a lot!
Liz is an exceptional hostess. She treated us to a sherry on arrival and on Sunday surprised my elderly father with a Father's Day gift! It was freezing cold, but our electric blankets were on to make our beds snugly warm. The house is on the edge of town. So it was dead quiet, no traffic or pedestrian noise. The car is safely behind a locked gate. The next day's road food was truly something special; freshly made hot breakfast waffles! Feel free to treat yourself to the unique delicacy. Will definitely stay there again if the opportunity arises.
Pet friendly accommodation.
Have a great time! Great hostess and host.
Very safe and warm. Thank you Liz and John.
Liz pays great attention to detail. There was everything from towels to fresh milk. We had a wonderful stay and felt very much at home. There are even games and books. Thank you very much!
Keep in mind that this is a very small town, there really isn’t much there, and to get to Karoo Uitsig you do have to travel along unpaved roads for just a short distance. Liz and John are super friendly and very welcoming, even allowing me to pull my bike right up to the window of the room. Only needed a place to stay over for the night whilst travelling from Jhb to Mosselbay on my motorbike, and this place was perfect for that. The room was very clean and tidy, beds nicely made. Really haven’t got any complaints. Highly recommended.
From the time I made the reservation until we drove to the overnight stay was just so nice. Loadshedding was such a nice hanging out atmosphere on the stoep. Will stay there again anytime and definitely recommend you.
Karoo experience is soul food.
Providing adequate battery lights and a gas cooker as well as loadshedding schedule is a nice touch. Also appreciate the WhatsApp communications.
The service that we got from the hosts was top-class. They made us feel at home.
Excellent hospitality in a very peaceful and quiet environment. Stay was pleasant, but unfortunately there were also a bunch of annoying mosquitoes due to recent rain (the hostess warned us in advance). The one mosquito net is a little too short to be functional, but there were plug-in mosquito repellents available and we were not bitten by mosquitoes at all. We had to leave earlier than breakfast time and the hostess gave us delicious breakfast jaffles with eggs, bacon and cheese as road food at a very reasonable predetermined rate.
We were received very kindly. Rooms are well equipped. We slept well after a long pass.
House is being renovated, so the accommodation is basic and typical of a Karoo town. Friendly hosts offered us supper as main restaurants in town were closed.
Karoo Uitsig has great service.
The building is very old but neat and clean, definitely value for money.
Liz and John go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home. Will stay here again.
The hostess Liz is incredibly friendly! The house reminded me of my grandmother's farmhouse. Easy going and down to earth. We enjoyed it very much. Will stay there again.
Very nice, historic accommodation. Liz really goes out of her way for the guests. Had a delicious breakfast. Definitely an overnight stop for guests.
Hanover is a bit of a creepy place when arriving after dark. Initially uncomfortable on arrival. Accommodation pleasant and cosy. Hosts were super friendly and accommodating. One must understand the history of the building to truly appreciate the stay. Totally different outlook once we could see surroundings the next morning.
Very friendly reception with everything in place as promised. We enjoyed our stay. Very clean and neat. Also very quiet and safe.
Load shedding sucked when we arrived at night but Lize made our stay comfortable.
Looking forward to our return visit.
Only slept overnight on our journey from the Cape back to Johannesburg.
The room's beds need to be replaced. It's very uncomfortable. The beds let you roll to one side. Didn't close an eye that night. So in summary it's only the beds that are a problem.
Always hospitable Liz. Goes out of her way to make you feel welcome.
Hostess made extra effort with dinner at reasonable price. Better bed than most and new bedding. Friendly host and wife. Ample, secure parking.
Friendly and fine for a one night stay.
Peaceful environment with a homely feel.
Good service and accommodation was very good.
Tap on basin not working, wall plug didn't work properly, coffee in jar hard, side tables very small. Can't hold a cup of coffee. The place has lots of potential. But lack a some serious decent décor, and some serious TLC. Friendliness is there.
Friendly, loved the historic value.
Value for money. Wonderful town.
Dewald thoroughly enjoyed his stay, we will definitely use you again in the future.
Made us feel at home. Great stay if you looking for a stop between Cape town and Jo'burg.
We were kindly received. There were no extra payments. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and tidy. For the price it was definitely worth staying over. We were even referred to the pizzeria around the corner.
Our host was very kind and friendly and made us feel at home. The rooms are modest and quirky, and good value for money.
Was pleasant to spend the night there.
Thank you Karoo Uitsig. Would highly recommend.
Friendly staff and safe environment. Will definitely recommend them.
Everything was exactly as promised to us, warm welcome, lovely people and we will stay there again.
Very neat. Old world feel. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life. This is typical Karoo friendliness and hospitality. Slept well.
I had a great stay, and especially the electric blanket and a glass of sherry was a bonus. The shower was nice and hot, but the water had to run for a while before the hot water came out. In a dry Karoodorp, this may be something that needs attention. I would definitely recommend the place. My dog was also received like a guest!
Not the first or last time I will spend the night at Karoo Uitsig. Well located and friendly hosts. Also feel very safe as a young traveling lady.
The owners of Karoo Uitsig are very friendly and helpful, they even provided us with ice for our drinks.
Alex and Raquel could not have been more friendly and helpful. We were travelling with three 8 week old puppies and the place was perfect for us.
Real Karoo feeling and nice and safe, beautiful view of a beautiful church on one side, the windmill gives you a farm feeling and the view on the other side a real Karoo view. Very neat. Raquel and Alex are very good people, make you feel right at home. Will definitely return there again if I have to go there. And value for money. Very cheap and affordable. Karoo View best place in Hanover.
Heerlike oorslaap eienaars stunning mense. Baie gasvry. Op pad huistoe gaan ons weer daar oorslaap.
Nice place with nice people.
Excellent customer service and very friendly and warm owners. Felt like we got home after a long drive. Only stayed for a night but I could stay a week or a month. Excellent restaurant just a block down the road.
The hosts carry you on their hands, the guest house is incredibly clean, everything you need is there. Very quiet and nice view. For sure the place to spend the night. You become more than just friends here.
Stayed and slept very well.
Hospitable reception.
Silence and tranquility is what you enjoy here. At the barbecue, you only hear the wind in the trees, and the soft moan of the windmill right next to you. And the hostess, Liz, knows about small details that make one's stay better than you expected. Free sherry for cold evenings, and pudding for everyone after the barbecue. Special wood and meat pick up on De Aar for us, no extra costs for fuel. The house is spacious and comfortable, and the location is perfect, far away from the noise of the N1. And a cozy fireplace and warm blankets for the cold evenings. Would definitely recommend it.
Accommodation is basic but comfortable and very clean and tidy. We were received very kindly and the communication beforehand was excellent. No complaints.
Everything that was needed for a single night's sleepover. The owners were friendly and helpful.
Comfortable and affordable place to stay between Gauteng and the Cape. Very quiet part of the small Karoo village, everything was neat and clean, each room has its own bathroom and enough space and we slept great.
Thank you for kind service.
Karoo View is not luxurious, but comfortable, and very clean and tidy. We slept and showered well, and were able to sit and eat our road food comfortably around a table. The owners went the extra mile to meet our sleeping needs.
Took me back 50 years to how I knew a nice place to hang out! Will recommend.
Perfect for an overnight stay.
Hanover stole my heart. Blissful, peaceful village. Truly a treat for the soul. It is a silent experience.
Ideal place to spend the night if the distance between your starting point and final destination is far.
Only problem was the bells from the church behind the accommodation that tolled throughout the night.
Would recommend for overnight stay.
Karoo View was very comfortable and clean.

Nice stopover on the way to Cape Town. Don't know if I will holiday there, but 1 or 2 nights it is very suitable for me.
As a place to sleep it is good enough.
The rooms are very basic, no air freshener etc. is supplied in the bathrooms. No hand-towels supplied. Also nowhere to put anything.
It was clean and tidy. Didn't get a chance to shower. Rather advertise as backpackers, not guest house.
Friendly people. Poor beds.
Despite the cold, we slept warm. Good blankets and also electric blanket. The room, closets and bathroom are very basic!
Was awesome. The owners feel like long lost family. very comfortable large rooms.
Fell in love with the tranquility and inner peace of the Karoo! Friendly people and clean and tidy facilities, great service! Will definitely stay again.
Many thanks to Alex and Racqual. Karoo Uitsig was our first stop from Cape Town to Durban. Good distance to drive and then relax in peace. We would recommend this rest stop to any person who enjoys genuine Karoo life. Down-to-earth people with friendly service. If you have never been to a real Karoo village, you will really enjoy the experience. Villagers are friendly and sociable.
Was just an overnighter on the way to Cape Town. Would definitely recommend.
Perfect overnight stop on the way to the Cape.
My partner and I had the most incredible stay here. The owners are amazing and the rooms are cozy and comfortable. Everyone should come stay here at least once - we'll definitely be back!
Very comfortable, and made a lot of effort to accommodate us.
Will not stay overnight at another place. Karoo Uitsig is excellent, their friendliness and genuine hospitality was special 100 out of 100.
We were received very kindly and had a nice visit and a lot of fun. The unit was neat and clean. Thank you very much, we will visit you again.
Very neat and clean bathroom facilities. Beds are clean and nice thick mattresses. Received with great kindness. Can't go wrong.
Lovely karoo feeling. Value for money. Good service.
Great little place. Charming and rustic. No TV and Wi-Fi so escaped the hustle of the world for a short while. Good selection of reading material. Great hosts. Thanks Alex.
Karoo Uitsig is the perfect half way stop over between Cape Town and Joburg. Warm showers, comfortable beds, secure parking and 100% pet friendly.
Short, but can say host and hostess friendly and hospitable.
After a few hours on the road, the welcome and hospitality was truly exceptional. Can recommend this special place to anyone. And it was special that they welcomed two pugs (dogs) to us.
Had a great stay. The Karoo atmosphere is blissful
Not geared towards self catering
Helpful and immediately paid attention to the light shining into my room.
The guest house has a peaceful atmosphere. There is a lovely view with a splash pool, a windmill and beautiful pine trees. There is also a delicious restaurant within walking distance.
Very nice overnight place, friendly people.
Was very kindly received and the room was right etc. Slept well with no problems.
There was no ice available, and bright bedside lights would have been appreciated.
Found the room and en suite bathroom to be very basic, in fact primitive. We called it grotty. We expected far better for our money.
Slept very nice and warm.
You arrive as a client and leave as a friend. The Karoo is a friendly place with great people running it. You have to experience it to understand it.
Very old house with tremendous potential.
Ideal place for travelers to relax. Unfortunately no meals are served but the hotel is close enough for meals and a drink. The guest house even has a library that will provide reading pleasure to everyone's taste. Alex and Rachael made sure we enjoyed the stay.
The hot water was a problem.
Comfortable and clean. Very friendly and warm welcome. Helpful
Can't complain about anything. Salt-of-the-earth people.
This is approximately 3-star accommodation. No TV. Secure parking. Clean tidy contents especially for clients who like early 1900 style wooden floors and cupboards as well as fireplace. Very large selection of reading material and has fridge, microwave, complimentary coffee, tea, milk and sugar.
Excellent location, can take trips in the area and eat well in the restaurant. The mosquitoes did bother me a bit in the aan de so take mosquito repellant with you.
See stars.
As an overnight stop with our 2 dogs, our stay was pleasant and safe.
Is a very old building but everything is there
No hanging cupboard or bedside lamps. Can lock door only from outside. Refrigerator is in another room, but there are no shelves in it. Bedding was clean and tidy. Mattress also good.
We were welcomed with open arms, very friendly and helpful. The kids had a fantastic time playing in the Dam that was filled especially for them. Thanks a lot.
I must admit I was a little sceptical when I first arrived. It is a lovely little place and it is a work in progress. I was travelling for business, but had my elderly mother and three dachshunds with me. Vivienne went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable and my furchildren were safe. I will definitely stay there again.
Toilet seat broken, shower leaking bathroom unacceptable, also owners' dog being kept in a small cage for hours - not right.

Enjoyed it very much. The peace and quiet is wonderful. Recommendable to a person that can get along with very little.
Everything about this place was nice. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable, and the service is excellent. I will definitely stay there again.
Pretty and clean, everything wasn't there, but the host helped us where needed.

Down to earth verblyf. 2 beddens in die kamer was baie ongemaklik. Die dubbelbed was super gemaklik.
We wanted to experience Hanover and it was an experience!
No facilities for heating was provided. Fire place exists but no wood, etc provided. Single electric blanket, for double bed, did not work and summer sheets in the middle of winter led to a cold, freezing, unpleasant stay. No TV provided. Land lady was very friendly and interesting.
I didn't expect luxury at all in a town like Hanover, but compared to the other places in town this place is not up to standard. This is how we learn.
The bathroom was still under restoration and so was the whole place. The lady who received us was very friendly and helpful. She is trying her best to renovate the place.
The place was dirty, there were definitely bugs in the bed. It was hot, no fan and the windows couldn't be opened.
Nice stay. Hospitable person. Cute little house.
We were treated like VIP's and the reception was professional, wil stay over there again any time, or even visit for a few days. Will tell anyone who wants to stay over in Hanover that Vivian is a pleasant person. Thank you Vivian, that we could rest there, my wife and I really enjoyed it, especially the night in front of the fire place and all the jokes.
The town may look dodgy but it's a safe place and all the people are very friendly.
It was like a fairy tale. The church with its ringing bell. The old old house where I wished that I would see Vlug na Egipte's old Doc the whole time. The owner's beautiful artwork. We can't wait to go there again.
Comfortably furnished and well located. Would only recommend that they put a heater in the room.
Very friendly welcoming. Helpful. Safe and cheap.
Slept well and received friendly service.
If you are just looking for a place to lay your head for the night, The Old Mill & Dairy is ideal. We were kindly received and the owner made us feel very much at home. However, the website said WiFi would be available, which was not the case, and there was a smell of smoke in the house. The website also said there was a restaurant on site, which is not accurate. It was difficult to get the shower's water to a good temperature, as soon as the cold tap was opened, the hot water cut off completely.
The sheets were not fresh which my wife was not at all happy about. Probably my fault but I assumed there would be a TV as I wanted to watch the T20 cricket. There wasn't even a TV in the house. Room could do with a small fridge in it.
