As always, Karoo view was such a nice experience. It is comfortable accommodation with everything you need, a nice view of the Karoo and our dogs had so much fun running around, because the whole property is fenced around. Nice fireplace and even extras like yogurt and meusli in the morning. Will definitely go again.

We spent one night in Prince Albert. Howard warmly welcomed us to beautiful rooms. We arrived at night so we didn't appreciate the view or location. It is perfect. The best fireplaces and most comfy beds. Everything you can possibly ask for was there. I wish we had stayed longer.

The unit is beautifully equipped with the most beautiful view of the mountains in a quiet area. It is a wonderful trip, also for a family. It's heated pool with boma area is definitely a winner. The service was very good and the arrangements quickly made - the management team answered all my questions effectively and nothing was too much trouble for them. These units are very exceptionally good value for money. I highly recommend them to any business and/or vacationer. You won't go wrong with these units. Many thanks to the management team.

We loved the fact that there was an art festival over the weekend which made the walks up Church Street really interesting. Best place to buy olive oil if you're in the market for some. Great bistros and eateries (Lazy Lizard is superb). Including the iconic Swartberg Hotel. Access via the Swartberg pass is a must for the more adventurous.
Fantastic! The accommodation looks exactly like the photos, the reception was friendly and we were constantly asked if we needed anything. We love walking so it was great that the accommodation was not on the high street but still walking distance to everything. I can recommend the cottages to anyone.

The visit was very nice. The staff were very helpful and we got nice wood for the fireplace. The accommodation is clean. It's one large room with a kitchen and bathroom. The neighbors are very close, so if you are looking for silence, you have to make sure there are no other people next to you.
Karoo View is a nice place to stay and very tidy. However, they moved us to a different unit than I specifically booked which was very disappointing.
I would definitely recommend Karoo View Cottages for a nice getaway. It's far enough out of town for total peace and quiet, yet within walking distance of all the sights and all the happenings. The rooms are tastefully furnished, but I only have one small thing that bothered me. It's just an opinion, but there is only one bedside lamp and the overhead lights are a bit of an overkill. That was literally all that mattered.

These little places are equipped with everything you will need, we lacked absolutely nothing. The attention to detail is incredible. The brailapa was definitely a highlight, my husband left there with all kinds of plans to try to build the same somewhere. Enough safe space for small children to run around in the garden too. Would recommend to anyone.

One of the best stays on our trip to Cape Town.
The host explained everything well upon our arrival and we immediately saw that they had thought of everything. We rented three units for the long weekend and all my children were there with their spouses. This Lapa is the best visit one could ask for in the Karoo and the fire was burning high. Units offer all luxuries with fireplaces, very neat, clean and new bedding, good lighting and large bathrooms. The premises are very neat and there is certainly a firm hand on maintenance and very good taste when it comes to the interior decoration. Furthermore, the village of Prins Albert offers the rest, peaceful walks through the town, nice places to eat and then the incredible drive over the Swartberg Pass. It was the perfect stay for our family weekend.

We had a great stay! Everything was clean and tidy and absolutely everything one could possibly need was thought of.
Reception was friendly and efficient, arrival time confirmed with us during our drive. Unit was beautiful, tidy with everything needed available. Fresh milk available in the fridge, as well as the necessary for breakfast before departure. The wood and fireplace contributed to a nice cozy atmosphere. We will definitely stay here again if we can.

What a gem these cottages were! Friendly staff, special touches in the rooms, homemade meusli, and breathtaking sunrises. Even a vegetable garden for picking fresh herbs (no veggies in winter) to add to our meal. A 5 minute walk, and you are in town, and a stroll across the road takes you onto Gordon's koppie with its spectacular views over town and Karoo.

The unit has a luxurious feel in terms of decor, and has everything you need. We were well received on arrival, and the braai packets we ordered were tasty and nicely packaged as expected. The rooms are very close together, and you have little privacy. Sound between rooms could be isolated better. The stoepie offers a nice view of Prince Albert's village, which is within walking distance. From our experience during the period we stayed there, Prince Albert gets bad winds. We think there are areas that Karoo View can look at to provide more for the windy weather conditions. There is a road opposite the accommodation which is not clearly visible in the photos, although not very busy it is quite close to the cottages. It appeared during our visit that the herb garden no longer existed, which was quite disappointing. Although the cottage was beautiful and we had a great stay, our expectations were higher.

After a long day on the road it was lovely to just relax. The unit is exceptionally well equipped with everything you need. It is also the small things that make a difference, like the cereal, fresh milk, coffee, tea and even nice sweet wine! We unfortunately didn't meet Julie, but Richard received us in a friendly manner and we immediately felt welcome. I will definitely recommend Karoo View Cottages and will go back as soon as I havve the opportunity.

The cottages are very homely and well equipped and our teenage boys particularly enjoyed the coffee sprinkler with freshly ground coffee and the braai and swimming pool at the boma. We travel a lot locally as well as internationally and Karoo View is definitely one of our new favourites! Definitely back soon.

We were made to feel very welcome upon reception and you feel as if Richard and Julie made an effort to receive you. Things like the milk in the fridge, braai wood, lightning, the breakfast cereal, coffee, soaps, etc. makes one feel welcome. Hands down one of the places where you get the best value for money.

We enjoyed this spacious self catering cottage, stocked with Richards home made muesli and rusks, fresh milk. The Karoo garden was a delight, as was the boma with a sunken plunge pool. The verandah was enjoyed too, being able to sit outside and enjoy the stars at night. The cottage set two roads up from the main street gave one a stunning view and sense of space. The houses are arranged in such a way that you are surprised every now and then by another cute detail. The basket for picking vegetables was one of those surprises. I will definitely go back.

It is a beautiful place with everything you need. The air conditioner came in handy as it was bloody hot. We got there an hour and a half early after calling, and they met us which I really appreciated. Everything was great.
We had a one night stop over on our way to Cape Town from Pretoria. A magical spot with unspoilt views of Prince Albert. Very nicely decorated with comfortable beds. Braai facilities available at each chalet and a communal pool for those hot Karoo days and evenings. We would certainly book here again.

The accommodation was the best we've experienced at any guest house in SA, UK & Ireland. Every possible requirement that we could have thought of was catered for, including a sumptuous braai basket, freshly baked bread, a lovely well stocked braai lapa, etc - even complementary antacid tablets in the bathroom! Richard booked us in personally and supplied all relevant information for visiting Prince Alfred and surrounds.
