It's a place to stay for sure. We stay a lot in Graaff Reinet, but Karoo Vine Cottages was really exceptionally good. The place is extremely neat and very tastefully furnished. We have already booked a place again with the hostess for three weeks when we have to drive through town again. Karoo Vine Cottages is highly recommendable and we will not be staying anywhere else in Graaff Reinet anytime soon.

I looked at so many places when I had to choose accommodation for our trip. All significantly more expensive than Karoo Vine and can't compare to what you get. We had a really nice stay. It's in a cul-de-sac, so it's quiet and peaceful. Decent bed, nice decor and nice shower.

Charming countryside atmosphere, attention to detail, clean, safe, and has a welcoming smell. However, the bedding was not fresh and clean as the sheets had signs of being rumpled with some stains of dirt and blood.

Many owners confuse an old-worldly look with practicality, which should always come first - old brass water taps that are difficult to use. Apart from that, there were no gripes. Air conditioning would have helped! The cottages were built in the old Dutch style with high ceilings and very attractive. I would definitely recommend the accommodation set in a very peaceful, quiet and safe locality, a very short distance from shops and restaurants. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful.

The place is beautifully and tastefully furnished, spotless and tidy. Unfortunately, there was no extra toilet paper, the ceiling fan didn't work, and the light bulb for the bedside light kept flickering. The master bedroom does not have a mirror, which is difficult with the hair dryer. It would have been great if the windows could open and stay open in the master bedroom. Fortunately, these are all small things that can be ironed out and fixed.

We had a very nice stay. We had a security problem, but the host was very helpful.
Two things that were a bit of an issue. 1. The only fan in the room is a ceiling fan and it is not positioned over the bed; it is kind of in no man's land, so it does not help much. 2. Parking, especially if you are the second vehicle to park, can be a massive challenge if you are not a seasoned driver.

Very neat, clean and nicely decorated. Only problem was neighbors who honked loudly at night and also bright car lights/spotlights that were switched on a few times which shone directly into the room's window at night and before sunrise which woke the children up.
The cottages were secluded and easily accessible once you find it. The rooms were well kept but the bathroom sink was dirty, the towels had dirty spots on them, and there were dirty linens on the beds. The rooms are close to one another, and we could hear the guests next door talking and laughing.
Space is very claustrophobic. Windows wont stay open unless you prop them open with a stick, and give straight onto street, so everyone could see in, if one could manage to open the shutters, which we couldn't. You can't draw the curtains back either. There is nowhere to sit and relax: the only sofa is positioned so you look at the cooker and oven. There was no ice in the freezer, only some pink gloopy stuff in the ice trays. . Shower tray leaked making the tiled bathroom floor very slippy. Towels were old and far from fluffy. Mariette was responsive on WhatsApp.

Everything about my stay was perfect, from the efficient administration/booking process to the cleanliness and convenience of the place, not to mention the well-trained staff. My car was safely parked behind a security gate right in front of the door, making it easy to carry luggage to and fro.

Parking behind the secure gate is an issue, as was the case in this instance, which was an inconvenience for both guests occupying the two cottages (my car and their large bakkie, which couldn't fit or be manoeuvred into the carport). The towels could be replaced.

I recently enjoyed a lovely evening's stay in one of Karoo Vine Cottages' cottages in Graaff-Reinet! The cottage is beautifully decorated with a peaceful atmosphere that quickly makes you feel at home. I really appreciated the lightning fast WiFi and it made my stay very pleasant. The check-in process was so convenient, especially since the hostess sent me an early morning WhatsApp message to welcome me and give directions. It made things a lot easier. The cottages themselves are cozy and extremely clean. I loved the cleanliness, it reassured me and I could relax wonderfully. The hostess was very friendly and made me feel really at home. I will definitely stay here again in the future. It really offers value for your money and I can recommend it with confidence.

Graaf is usually our overnight stop for family travels. The accommodation has all you need for that purpose, including safe parking, and it is very neat, fresh, and clean. It's off the main road, so it's easy to get a good night's sleep. A lovely bath makes for good relaxation after a long drive, which is nice. We also love the old Karoo house architecture.

The bedroom was wonderfully spacious and cool, the bed most comfortable to ensure a good night's sleep. Our favourite sleepover on our trip, both on the way up and down! Zara and Cooper the Labradors/Retrievers were adorable and spoiled accordingly! Parting was such sweet sorrow.
Was pleasantly surprised with how neat the place looked when I walked in. Very well equipped kitchen. The owner's road directions were complete and her communication friendly. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Thank you very much, we had a wonderful stay in Karoo Vine Cottage. Was able to explore the beautiful town and beautiful surroundings - Valley of desolation: wow! Just a suggestion: a top sheet on the bed would be good. In the Karoo heat you can't sleep under a duvet, we simply took duvets out of demolition. Other than that, everything was first class!

We stayed in Stonewall cottage. Beautiful decor, lovely cool room. The website shows that braai space is available, but upon confirmation we heard that it is only at some of the units. Still, the hostess went out of her way to help us. Excellent customer service, definitely recommended.

Very nice hostess even though we didn't meet her. Beautifully furnished unit. Nice soft pillows on bed which was a big plus for me. Only downside was that the place is not on Cradock Street and this was quite a frustration but was dealt with quickly by the hostess and we really appreciated it. If she wants to sell, call me first. Absolutely in love with the place.

We slept over one night and drove early.
The two cottages, Karoo and Stonewall, share a wall which is fine, problem is that noise travels through it quite badly. We overnighted there both travelling to the coast and back again. The first night Stonewall cottage wasn't bad as we had relatively quiet neighbours, but the return trip was quite bad as neighbours were quite noisy and each noise was heard more pronouncedly in Karoo cottage. Even restroom noises, which was quite bad. We didn't sleep much due to bad noise travelling through walls it seemed. This saddened me as it was otherwise such a nice place, almost perfect.
Parking a bit tight for larger vehicles.
Located in Graafr-Reinet in a quiet part of the city. Really cute cottage with everything needed. There have even been self-made cookies to buy. It's close to the beautiful Camdeboo national park and Graaf Reinet is really nice as well.
Google Maps brings you to the right street where the place should be, but the place is at the back of the street, at the gate also had trouble getting in, everything was messed up. Nice stay, thank you, everything was clean and tidy, thank you.
Aircon would have been appreciated in the heat. No torches were provided despite scheduled loadshedding up to 3 times a day.
The place was tidy and Mariëtte was very friendly and helpful. However, the place is offered as a self-catering unit - but there is no space or facilities to prepare food. Nor a table and chairs where one can sit and eat. Perhaps it should be offered as a 'sleep over' unit. If one wants to stay for longer than one night, it will be a problem.
Parking is difficult with a large vehicle.

This is really a home-feel place, really cosy. The only problem was that the Karoo cottage and Stonewall cottage must be better soundproofed you can really hear next door and a snoring neighbour kept us out of sleep. Using the bathroom is also noisy.

For the purpose of sleeping over we had a nice stay. The beds are really of poor quality and my night's rest was not pleasant. Also the fact that it was 2 single beds was disappointing for me and my wife. We couldn't get the TV to work either, only U-tube. The parking was really a bit difficult, but after a few times forwards and backwards we finally got under the canopy. Larger vehicles have difficulty parking. Furthermore, the place was neat. There were definitely rats or mice on the roof during the night which was disturbing. Maybe they should just look into it. Otherwise everything was fine.
We had it bad with 38 degrees at 20h00 and power cuts (which is a given) but there is no back door or other door or window that you can open for some fresh air or draft, you feel like you are suffocating.
Guests should be advised that if there are power outages, there is also no water. I think it is necessary to make guests aware of it so that one can plan accordingly.
My wife and I were looking forward to a nice three day visit in Graaff-Reinet. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The Cottage was clean and beautiful and parking is safe, but, the Cottage is on a busy street (05h00-18h00 car noise). People often walk past accommodation. The owner has a new DSTV system and between 18h00 and 07h00 you cannot watch TV because the internet is very slow. On the third day, we tried to call the owner to inform that we were leaving a day earlier, but got no answer until now. Would not recommend the Cottage if one is looking for tranquility. TV in master bedroom did not work. 2/5.

Our group of 4 friends stayed in the Karoo and Stonewall Cottages, which, while separate, are adjacent to one another allowing for a shared space experience. The cottages were very clean and tastefully decorated while maintaining a sense of the rich historical character that Graaff-Reinet is known for. Our host was very helpful with instructions for check-in and any other queries we had. We would definitely stay here again.

Unit was tastefully furnished and had a warm and welcoming feel. It was exceptionally clean. Loved the touch of small packets of homemade biscuits that were in a basket in the room that one could buy. Parking was also safe and secure.

Als was well and good. Just one small problem. The parking was not built for the new vehicles of today. Couldn't park with my Ranger bakkie. It's too small for 2 vehicles. The guy who is 1st will always be able to park under the canopy. The next guy doesn't have enough room. Maybe with a small vehicle.

I would only suggest to the owners that they change the heated blanket or put on a thicker mattress protector as the heated blanket's wires are felt while sleeping otherwise a lovely stay all way round.

Stopped over en route to Cape Town. It has everything you need.
We stayed in the Karoo Cottage. Everything was quite acceptable, space, facilities, etc. but I would like to suggest upgrading the mattress. The mattress is uncomfortably hard. The reason for this is that the mattress in question has very little sponge on top of the innerspring system. A +-4 to 5cm sponge mattress stopper would be a good solution, without necessarily replacing the mattress.
Unfortunately there was no water on Friday night and no hot water on Saturday morning. There was no load shedding at that time.
The address on the reservation does not exist. After 13 hours of driving, I drove up and down the street to find the guest house. The number of the street does not exist. Asked number 121 and according to him no such number exists in the street. Also asked a security company and they confirmed that there is no such number. Finally able to identify the guest house in the photo and then we had to drive around the block in another street to approach the place from behind. One is not in the mood for such a struggle. I also called the website, but no one even answered the phone.
