My wife Priscilla and I were married for 51 years (31/07/2024) and we decided to take a break for the weekend. Kelkiewyn Guesthouse offered us a 10% discount, bottle KWV Annabelle Cuvee Rose Sparkling Wine and a bunch of flowers were in our room when we arrived. Our Hostess was Linsday, that welcomed us and made us feel at home from day one until we left with sad hearts, because we could not stay forever. What a relaxing weekend we both had. My wife and I both have birthdays in November (05/11/2024 -25/11/2024 ) and we contemplating to return to Kelkiewyn Guesthouse.

Nice big Guesthouse but everyone has their own space within the house. There is a lekker braai spot and pool and plenty of space to park.

The room was comfortable with sufficient extra bedding for the cold night that we were there. Everything that we required was on hand, and our hostess was friendly and helpful.
Very good hospitality. Lovely room, well equipped. The welcome to us was excellent and we had a great time. Children swam. The place is located in the town, so cars rumble up and down the street, and the business behind the apartment was already at work early on.
Nice base from which to explore Caledon and surrounds - e.g Shaw's Mountain Pass and Hermanus.
Strange noise through the night. Some motor, like a compressor. Quite disturbing. Plastic shower curtains are a no.
Driver wasn't even on site, I had to wait for 20 minutes. One of the guests had to open for me, I was grateful, but it was dangerous and very unprofessional. When the manager did arrive, she was very curt and impersonal.

Many thanks to Sandra who made an extra effort for us by washing the children's sports clothes on Saturday evening at 18:00. During load shedding she also made an effort for us.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The parking is secure and the host very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were woken at 3 am by someone in the street hooting and shouting but I assume this was not a frequent occurrence.
My whole family enjoyed it. Everything is comfortable and at the place, didn't need anything more to enjoy yourself.
The wrong room I was placed in put a damper on the long weekend from the start. According to my booking confirmation, and for which I paid in full, I would be staying in room 4. When I arrived, someone else was already home in room 4. Also, the double bed electric blanket has dual controls, but there is no power point on one side to plug it into. Otherwise, the stay was pleasant and the reception friendly.
We were looking for a place to stay for one night and Kelkiewyn worked for us.
Was what we needed for a one night stay.
The bedding was clean and fresh. No soap in the bathroom - never had to bring own soap before. I don't think any of us would have used the the shower it was just not inviting at all. The owner/manager was very kind and helpful. Unfortunately the place is a little run down and the photo's on the web site are a little embellished.
Other guests were very noisy in the middle of the night. Six calls to management for attention went unanswered. Cigarette butts in front of room door. Asked for it to be taken away. Just moved down onto the stoep instead of remove.
Very hot in the evenings. Should get air-conditioning.
