Whether you are needing self-catering accommodation, a bunk bed backpacker style place to sleep, or a spot to pitch your tent and camp or park your over-lander. Khotso has the space and the accommodation facilities for all your adventure or holiday needs.
All our accommodation is conveniently spread out so as to offer a variety of accommodation options. For those who are sociable and vibey, the backpackers or the log cabin is ideal. Families are welcomed to peace and quiet in the rondavels and romance and serenity can be enjoyed in our mountain retreat.
On the farm, there are a wide variety of beautiful horse trails. Also, you cannot afford to miss the trip of a lifetime and explore Lesotho on horseback for a 2 or 3 day adventure. Our horse trail adventures is a major drawing card for you to visit, but our entire area is literally bursting at the seams with wonderful activities and places to visit.
We also offer guided hiking experiences on our farm and in the nature reserves nearby - all fitness levels welcome, and you have the unique opportunity to overnight in a cave! We also offer a multi-day Lesotho hike which is an experience you will never forget!

We went over the weekend of 20th Sept 2024 and there was a lot of snow that cut out the electricity, which was okay as we had a gas stove and fireplace. They allowed us to shower at the main building as we didn't have hot water. We have stayed at many places in the area and found this to be the best.
I was a bit sceptical when we arrived. We were met by the incredible host, who allayed any concerns that we had. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. We met other visitors from abroad who became friends. I would recommend the site to other people. We would definitely be back. Thank you for the warm hospitality.
We went to camp at Khotso for 2 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted very kindly. Khotso itself as well as the surrounding environment is incredibly beautiful and offers the soul a very peaceful experience. The campsite is neat, clean and every pitch has a power point available. The ablution facilities are neat and clean with gas geysers that offer delicious hot showers in the cold weather. There is a communal kitchen with a fridge that can keep the necessary items cold. There is also a sink that can be used. Bring your own cutlery, pots and pans. Khotso offers an honesty bar where you can choose from a few alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, tjippies and tchokkies and then only pay your bill at the end of your visit. They also offer large bags of wood for R80 to make a nice atmospheric fire. However, note that this wood is not the best for embers to grill on (loses its heat quickly) but is great wood for cozy flames. Also feel free to visit Khotso's coffee shop (Balam River Deck), which is a few hundred meters away from the farm. The coffee shop makes delicious coffee and sits on the banks of the Mzimkhulu River which makes for a picturesque view. Overall, our time at Khotso's campsite was just a great pleasure and pleasant experience and the staff's friendliness and quick chats make you feel very welcome.

Great weekend for Drak descent. Always busy time and the accommodation did very well in keeping camping ablutions clean despite lots of dirty people and thunderstorms.
We arrived a bit earlier and they were not ready yet. However, the room was clean and everything was available to us in the cottage - even down to tea and coffee. I wouldn't really recommend it for young teenagers as there isn't much for them to do, but it's still a lovely and quiet place.
I will be back with my family and friends!
Beautiful nature to walk in or to explore on horseback.
Lovely spacious campsites next to a small river and at the foot of a cliff. Very nice view from the cliff. Power points are available at campsites.
The guest house was equipped with the necessary. The kitchen that is for everyone's use with a delicious AGA anthracite stove that burns 24 hours was very effective. We enjoyed it. The room very clean. Our stay was pleasant/homely.
I was very surprised when I saw the camping bathroom, it is very very clean and tidy. The kitchen was also very clean and everything was provided such as pots, pans and dish soap.
Not a braai at the rondavel but it was raining so it didn't matter. Power was off but that made it more fun!

On arrival we had the most friendly reception and introduction to the facility. Everybody is so accommodating and friendly. There is loads to do and the most beautiful scenery. For mountain bikers and trail runners the trails at the old Duck is a must well marked and maintained trails! Horse riding at Khotso looked very well organised and the horses is in a very good condition. Tube rides on the river in the midst of the heat also a definite plus!
Lack of cooking utensils, not even an egg lifter. Feels isolated and the veranda should have a table and chairs to enjoy the nice view. Needs some love and TLC and it would be a nice little spot.
Very pleasant backpackers in the southern Drakensberg close to Underberg. Can definitely recommend it! The only thing they need is a microwave!

I cannot say it was a pleasant experience. Photos did not match the wretched, run down place we had to stay in. The beds and bedding was old and broken, the toilets weren't working and staff was not friendly or helpfull at all. Breakfast was good though ... we were starving at that point ...
I would recommend that every room gets a small mirror and the bathroom be cleaned more often. We struggled with the hot water (shower). But as I say - good for a "backpackers".
