69 guests' feedbackWow, it was great, warm kindness from the whole staff. What a peaceful stay. I'll come again and Kingdlodge is my place. Thank you, thank you, keep up the good work.
We had so much fun. The food was to die for. It was a great break and we really didn't want to leave. Even our dog enjoyed exploring.
Warm friendly welcome at reception, hassle-free service. Staff were very accommodating and had their best interests in making our stay memorable.
It was a wonderful time we had. The hospitality of the host made us feel at ease every day.
The room was warm and tidy. I liked the natural environment. The staff was very friendly. We enjoyed our stay. We will likely visit again.
Friendly service. The cottages are neat and clean, but very basic and only equipped with the necessary equipment. We really enjoyed the fireplace and can recommend the restaurant.
Had a great stay, slept great and ate great! Thank you King's Lodge Hotel.
Perfect perfect perfect perfect.
What we need, comfortable bed, good food and great bar to watch the rugby. We were there just for the overnight.
The staff are lovely and we were upgraded to a cottage because of a soccer team coming to stay over. The venue is in need of some work, but post Covid we understand that it is a challenge. Some of the other guests were not considerate of their noise levels. We were not able to pick up WiFi in the cottage, only in the main building.
Sleeping facilities good. Kitchen in 'self catering' unit was unsatisfactory due to limited kitchen equipment. Maintenance of the building requires attention.
There is lots to do in and around Hogsback, especially the hiking trails. The scenery is absolutely magnificent. The weather wasn't great, and gale force winds caused havoc with power availability, but other than that, it was a pleasant stay.
Thank you to the King's Lodge team for such a lovely, relaxing stay and delicious meals by Chef Chipi. They very kindly allowed us to bring along our 2 dogs and they enjoyed the space as well. Siya at reception is so lovely as is the waitress at the restaurant. Our cottage was comfortable enough though the lounge seating could be better, an actual small sofa would be great. Our bed was very cosy and warm. The little fireplace made the space very toasty but it did smoke a lot. I would have liked more cutlery, crockery (especially if we invited Hogsback friends for coffee) and a pan or 2 extra. I was pleasantly surprised that the cottage is serviced daily. Wi-Fi worked well, even during load shedding. We will definitely be back.
Lovely unit, well-equipped. Very friendly, helpful, and accommodating management and staff. Will definitely return.
King's Lodge Hotel in Hogsback provides everything you need: perfect location, warm service with staff totally willing to go the extra mile, a cosy on-site restaurant with great food at excellent prices and a cosy fireplace in the cottages to fight the winter cold. The cottages are old but sparklingly clean and everything you need is in working order - truly great value for money. We will definitely be back. Brent is a perfect host.
An old hotel that fits in with nature (and I love old things), the room was spotless and the food was fresh and awesome. I have already made another booking. This is not a place it feels like home and thank you very much, Brent. What a friendly and generous host!
Autumn leaves were beautiful as were the flowers. Tall trees! Gentle English country garden atmosphere. Loved the wood fireplace. P.s forgot to ask for a room with a shower!
An old-fashioned hotel like the old days. May need a small upgrade in the near future. But the price and friendly service still make up for what might otherwise be lacking.
King's Lodge Hotel staff are very friendly and the electric blankets were excellent to be able to go to sleep in a warm bed during the cold evenings. Unfortunately our unit did not have a shower (it did have a bath with hot water) but the premises are being renovated.
The staff was helpful, the location is good and the accommodation was clean and comfortable.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Was a very nice weekend.
Relaxed and quiet, beautiful spot.
Old fashioned hotel with very neat facilities. Very nice service.
You are doing a great job.
Nice place to stay in a wonderful part of the country. We were upgraded to a cottage which was very cozy. It was clean and tidy as well as well furnished. However, the fireplace stove leaked smoke and we were then unable to heat the unit on a freezing cold night.
It was a nice overnight stop, the room was clean and the staff was very friendly. A short distance away from restaurants.
The tree-rich surroundings are a delight for any city dweller.
Every destination is very beautiful. Will recommend to friends and family to visit Hogsback.
Accommodation is a bit run down for the price. It was disappointing that there was no fireplace in the cottage. Kitchen can be fixed up and broken cutlery replaced.
The accommodation is neat, but some of the furniture is old and needs to be replaced.
2 sliding doors could not lock and slide. Chimney was broken so all the smoke is in your house. House stinks! Bath water is brown, but that could be from all the rain. Bathroom sink leaking. It was just water every time one used it. Really disappointed in King's Lodge, but Hogsback itself is terribly beautiful.
Quick and easy check-in, the room was exactly as we expected and as described on the website. Good value and enjoyed our stay! Friendly staff!
Very peaceful and comfortably equipped self-catering cottage surrounded by huge trees. The staff was caring and very helpful. Basic restaurant menu, well cooked and tasty. Breakfast was lovely. Will definitely return when next visiting Hogsback.
Had a great stay and the unit was well-equipped. Nice fireplace and enough wood provided.
We had a wonderful time. The service was fantastic and the unit was nice and clean. Lovely fireplace and had everything we needed.
The hotel is well located and easy to find, room was nice and clean and the staff on duty very friendly.
King's Lodge's cottages are like wood-paneled heaven from the seventies. It's really beautiful and comfortable and very clean. The fireplace is already packed when you arrive, and the cottage has a decent fridge and well-equipped kitchenette. Location very neutral and the staff is super friendly.
Was very lay service was very good. Would recommend it was very safe and clean.
Our stay at King's Lodge was pleasant. The unit was clean, with enough heaters, electric blankets and wood for the fireplace for the cold winter. Unfortunately, we could only stay 1 night, but it's ideal accommodation to explore the area.
Very nice, peaceful and stunning.
Entrance road to hotel very poor. Photo of hotel is outdated. Restaurant impersonal.
When we checked in in the afternoon we informed the staff that we would be back late in the evening should we make any arrangements. They told us there was a front door key from the hotel attached to our room key, we let ourselves in at night. There were 2 keys on our room key so found out one was the front door key when we got back to the hotel that night the front door was locked and when we tried to unlock it only to find the key didn't work. The bell at the front door was also out of order and the hotel number I called just rang, no one in sight to help. Struggling to get in for over an hour until we decided to break our room's window just to get in luckily before that the security guard finally did a round and locked it open for us. The next morning I reported my complaint at reception and the woman at reception confirmed that the front door key was not on as they said. I asked can I speak to the manager she said the manager is not available I asked will the manager call me please. Manager didn't call me at all. Later that day at reception I found the manager there and she said when she heard about the complaint she was sorry and then asked if we were sure the key was not on. I really think it's so poor not to get back to customers and not address their complaints and then question them. After a long drive from Bloemfontein and after more than an hour of struggle in the evening to get into King's Lodge Hotel, we did not sleep well at all.
Pearl was very accommodating, went the extra mile to make our stay comfortable. Thank you. The chef and waiter was very helpful, even came in earlier to accommodate our request to have breakfast earlier. Thanks. All staff were friendly and helpful.
Too bad there was no snow, but still worth it.
This place is a must for every traveller. The staff, the food, the customer service, the atmosphere - everything was just right! I will definitely come here again.
King's Lodge's location in Hogsback is unbeatable and the hotel with its exceptional garden area creates a tranquility in the visitor that is so necessary when one wants to break away for a short holiday to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The service was very friendly and the room was nice and tidy, we slept very well there and it was nice to be able to experience the village.
The accommodation was great. Very friendly and helpful. Our place was clean and neat.
A wonderful, homey feel with convenience and great service. Staff is incredibly friendly with the manager really doing everything possible to make us feel at home. I look forward to our next visit!
We slept well in the clean and tidy room, in the very peaceful surroundings.
It says there is a restaurant. We wanted to eat there that night, but they said we couldn't. That meant we had to go find another place.
Short attention span. A lot of defense. Would not recommend.
Our self-catering chalet was tidy on the inside although all the cottages are in urgent need of upgrading on the outside. The kitchen was equipped with basic amenities. The first night of our stay it was very noisy until late at night from people hanging out in the bar. The staff were always friendly and helpful.
Not very impressed with the food at the restaurant. My steak was incredible! It also took very long. I did not go back again and tried to eat out on other nights. The lock on the door of our chalet was broker, we could not lock it. Otherwise it was good. Neat and we had a good rest.
The place is in a fantastic garden but no maintenance is done. The gas stove only has one burner out of 4 that works and the couches in the living room's cushions are dirty. I will stay there again if only a little attention is paid to maintenance.
The paths and grounds around the hotel need maintenance. The photos of the website and how it looks are no longer the same. So much potential. Staff very friendly and helpful. Expensive for what you get. Our room just cleaned upstairs.
Shady Cottage's TV doesn't work at all. They couldn't get him right. The kettle was full of rusty water. We need to clean it up first. The living room lights are off. Both bulbs blew and they are out of stock. Then we had to pack up again and move to another cottage. SnowFlakes. SnowFlakes has no kettle (at that point we were already taking turns walking to reception). The electric blankets do not work. They had to bring others and make the bed over. When we checked in, the restaurant was recommended to eat at that evening. I then asked for the menu so that I could discuss it with my wife. We decide to eat there after all the drama and don't feel like driving anymore. The outcome is: The chef arrives at our cottage to inform us that she cannot give us food because they have a group that is coming to eat there. By the way, if I didn't have my booking conformation with me I wouldn't be able to sleep there. I was not on their books at all.
Very beautiful, very friendly people and very good service.
Very nice, will stay again. Place just needs some attention.
Really beautiful place.Thank you so much.
See stars.
The establishment can be such a gem but it is in desperate need of an upgrade. It's tired-looking like the whole of Hogsback. Food great and well priced but it needs to be refurbished to its former glory.
Unfortunately Hogsback's tar roads are not as neat as those of King's Lodge.
Nice playground. Nice space. Nice place.
Pleasant stay, friendly staff.
See stars.
