We enjoyed our stay. Our dogs were welcome. The guest house was fully booked, but it didn't feel crowded. It is worthwhile to plan in advance if you want to do takeaways.

Kingswill is always a winner. We had a great stay and the buffet dinner was delicious. I would recommend keeping some of your white wines cold in the fridge. Especially in hot summer months. We will definitely come again.

We had a little trouble finding the guest house, but were received very kindly. The room is comfortable and the car safely locked behind a gate. Interesting decor and cozy. It was very hot and unfortunately there is no fan in the room.
The guest house was pleasantly on one side of the town; the WiFi didn't work unfortunately. There was a microwave, but no plate or anything to put in there. So those had better be taken away there. We slept well there, the street was quiet.

I think it depends on which room you stay in. This time we stayed in room 1. WiFi password not working. There were 3 DStv remotes and none of them worked. Shower is pathetic. Toilet pipe is leaking water. But the bed sleeps very well.
We have but the door between the two rooms is not good. It does not give privacy. The shower head is also rusted.
Everything was basic and needed maintenance, e.g. Door frames cracked, etc. Our biggest problem was when we were sitting and lying on the various beds, we all started itching and got little bite marks on all of us. The bedding / cover was clean, but we think that there are "bed bugs" inside in e.g. the pillows, mattress and duvet.
It wasn't quite what I expected. It's also bad if your neighbors sound like they're in the same room with you.
Bed very uncomfortable, toilet overflowed, bathroom floor flooded, shower blocked and shower head faulty. Room is south facing and freezing cold (end of August).
Air cooling did not work. The bathroom does not have a door. There were a lot of mosquitoes and bugs in the room and on the bed. The bed was comfortable and of good quality. There was no milk available to make a cup of tea/coffee. The pipe over the sink makes it uncomfortable when you wash your face.

We had a wonderful stay and ate the most delicious lamb curry at the hotel. Owners were so kind to help us put meat we take down to the Cape in their freezers. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and tastefully served. Would recommend anyone to stay there.

The linen was beautiful and of such good quality. The service was great. The kettle was in bad condition and there were curtain hooks lying around on the windowsill. I would suggest more than one light for load shedding. Maybe some candles and matches would be good. Everything else was lovely. Breakfast was really nice and we will definitely be back.

Neat, affordable overnight accommodation. For a family of different ages and genders, an open bathroom with a freestanding screen doesn't work so well. Even just a curtain will help a lot. Swimming pool very nice in Karoo heat.

Braai facilities are available. Secure parking. Restaurant and small shop on site make visiting very convenient. Hotel access (additional restaurant if you would prefer) and friendly hotel management meant additional assistance to make guests' stay comfortable and to be able to enjoy hospitality. With loadshedding there was a need for candles (light)/lamps or a flashlight. It was literally night-dark and the unfamiliar terrain quite a challenge when walking from the braai area to the guest room. Additional light is a recommendation. However, the stars were incredibly bright - what a wonderful experience to be able to witness the unpolluted sky again.
We really enjoyed the sleepover. The rooms are very nice and well furnished. We did have a lot of problems with beggars harassing us on the premises. We also went for the buffet dinner the night we were there and were very disappointed. We were there 20 minutes after the start of the meal and had to wait for a table to become available. Some of the dishes' bowls were empty or very close to empty. The response from the person on duty was that that's how it works with buffet meals. Luckily you pay by weight and we only paid for what we ate. We still had people come in for dinner and I don't know what they got.

It was really very neat and clean. There just weren't any plates or bowls if you wanted to buy something yourself to eat there. And they suggest eating at the hotel next door, Merino Junction, which I thought was very convenient, but the food was extremely poor and the tables were really dirty. Would not suggest it unfortunately. Our TV didn't work. The DStv only picked up 2 channels. But otherwise it had been very convenient.

The accommodation was reasonable. The room was spacious and the air conditioner helped a lot. Unfortunately, our kitchen was not very clean. The front was tidy, but the microwave oven was dirty inside. The fridge had mold on the shelves and the kettle was unusable. There was something under the boiler that looked like lime, so we couldn't make coffee or tea. The only option was to heat water in the microwave (but the microwave was dirty). The toilet didn't flush well, and we were afraid to use it because the paper wouldn't flush. The surroundings were quiet, except for the iron gate in front of the entrance door. There were no burglar bars on the windows, and as 2 ladies I was very restless at night. The place really has a lot of potential, and if the focus is on cleanliness, it could be a little gold mine. The TV could only pick up 3 channels, and we didn't get a WiFi password, so the evening was long. However, we were so tired after 8 hours of travel that a hot shower, clean bed and air conditioning in the room was worth it. (The bedding was neat and clean). We didn't use the breakfast facilities, but it looked pretty neat and clean in the shop.
The only reason I booked at Kingwill's Guest House was because they were the only guest house in Victoria West according to my search results that had a room with a bathroom and when I checked in we were given a Family Room with a shower . So the website's search engine with the option of "Choose your room" is definitely not applied by Kingwill's Guest House. To say the least the stay was disappointing.
There are serious maintenance deficiencies and the cleanliness is something that needs attention. If you are towing a pram, you will need to arrange a night watch as there is no secure parking. Stop by - Three Sisters is 40 km from Victoria West.
Take something with you for the mosquitoes - the mosquitoes almost carried us away.

We loved our stay, it was an experience. The cottage was lovely and well-equipped. A big bonus was the deli stocked with delicious goodies, and the swimming pool. The food was delicious. Our only complaint is the mosquitos, we were attacked by swarms during the night.

We stopped here on our way to Klerksdorp, just to shower and sleep before hitting the road again. The manager was very sweet and very quick to respond to our questions. Even though it was NYE, it was very quiet so we slept quite peacefully.
There were an incredible amount of mosquitoes and there were not enough products in the room to help. The aircon also started dripping water on the bed next to our heads during the night which of course made it difficult to sleep.
What an incredibly pleasant surprise awaited us here, despite loadshedding, we still had great service, excellent food and neat spacious rooms. The buffet dinner is a hit, the garden (courtyard) is beautiful and your service is prompt and friendly. Thank you!
Room 8 is a neat furnished room. TV, air conditioning, fridge, WiFi. Secure parking next to the room. Meals available at Kingwill and the hotel next door. One question though, why is the ceiling of room 8 only half painted white? Why paint the ceiling with the large beams white at all?

The people were friendly and helpful and very accommodating. Don't miss their buffet. The food was delicious.
Unfortunately loadshedding caught us and there was no backup or any night light available. Bugs attacked us and no provision was made for it. No arrangements about the key of how to return it were passed on to us.
Just take it from them that they serve food on the premises. It is around the corner from the hotel. Food was delicious! They helped us with takeaways because we had a small dog and couldn't sit with him in the hotel. Safety could be improved, gate very low where our car and trailer were parked, and you don't really have a yard and barbecue if you have to park there either. Animals are welcome, but are not really comfortable without a yard or grass.

Owner was extremely incompetent when I didn't want to accept fan because air conditioner remote was gone. Packed luggage back in car when suddenly they found a remote.
Old, dull towels. Bathroom directly accessible from kitchenette. Parking behind a gate that could easily be jumped over. Windows no burglar bars and directly on the street, so could not open windows. Stick horn old aircon didn't help the heat. Was thankful it was only 1 night, couldn't have lasted longer.

We stayed over for one night while driving from JHB to CT. It was educational to see this little town with all its old houses and history. Our stay was restful and we had a lovely time playing some snooker by the bar and enjoyed a lovely dinner. Room was large and neat.
Here are some points that can get attention. The air conditioning did not work. It was terribly hot. The bathroom is not separate, not even with a partition, so there is no privacy when father, mother or children want to use the bathroom. It is impractical for a family. It is quite a process to move from room 3 to the pool, one has to walk around the building, a door where the bathroom is would be more practical. The WiFi was unusably slow. The kettle must be boiled 3 times to make 5 cups of coffee. A bigger boiler would be wiser because you would save power. The street light that shines in at the front door illuminates the room and it is disturbing when one wants to sleep. The television channels were also not working. The stairwell in the ceiling was open, letting more heat into the room than needed. Only one bedside lamp worked. The towels are abysmally small, larger towels would count, as would flies and mosquito repellent/insecticide - as there was plenty in the room, and I don't take my own insecticide to guesthouses.

We actually wanted to spend the night in Britstown, but the place where we slept on the way up was not available. Kingwill's looked neat in the photos. However, they will need to pay a little more attention to maintenance. The hot water tap in the shower's handle was loose, the shower's door too and there was only one loincloth chair at the dining table. There was also only a little toilet paper left on the roll in the bathroom, and the toilet wouldn't flush well. The unit was also quite dusty. This may be due to work being done around the guest house by the municipality, but could it have been cleaned? Upon request, they brought us more toilet paper and chairs from the deli. They were friendly and helpful.
Comfortable with all the beds in one room. Small children become afraid of sleeping alone in strange places. The air conditioning was very welcome for the cold.
We have stayed at Kingwills a few times and this was definitely our favourite. This time we were disappointed. The place needs attention (especially the linen) and the buffet dinner is definitely not up to the same standard anymore. Heart broken.
The room is nice and big.
Recommendation: Make sure the guests' rooms are ready when they arrive. When we arrived there was still some scrambling to get controls for the air conditioner. Person who came to replace the air conditioner's batteries was not wearing a mask. No sanitizers in the rooms. Waitress serving breakfast was also not wearing a mask.
Second time I stay there, the last time was 2 years ago and was well received and the room was tidy with everything as needed. The recent time there was no one to receive me and I was helped, but I got the feeling that I was almost bothering the person who came to unlock the room for me. She checked the fridge but didn't "bother" to provide milk for coffee or to give information about room etc. (Spent an hour looking for the light switch, for example).

The Northern Cape is hot, but luckily there is a cold pool waiting for us in Victoria West. The place is very nice clean and friendly people welcomed us. It was very nice.
On the website I chose 2 separate rooms for 3 adults, but it went through to them as 1 room for all together. The website may need to look into it. However, they were very accommodating and gave us an extra room at no extra cost. We were received very kindly, got safe parking and slept great!

My girlfriend and I spent the night here on our way to Cape Town from Potchefstroom. The host called us early to make arrangements for our reception which I really appreciated. Room #6 was lovely clean and tidy, well equipped with all the essentials and a lovely bath (and shower) with hot water! Our room was nice and private and there was secure parking for my car. The building adjoins the Victoria West Hotel, between which we could move freely and enjoy our dinner. Breakfast is not served on Sunday mornings so I cannot comment on that. I was very impressed with the hospitality we experienced in Victoria West and I will definitely consider it again for a next trip.

Room needs attention, paint over shell and does not create a clean impression. I'm not saying it was dirty but it doesn't create a clean impression. The shower floor was creepy and the shower head needed attention. It's probably 30 years old.
No one on site when we arrived. Had to stand in the sun waiting for people to come. Person who welcomed us then has no mask - I have no words! We didn't get the room we chose (no call or explanation - just had to accept it). Shower barely works - sprays in all directions, is flimsy and dirty (grass green around the shower head - yuk!). Electrical plugs hang from cords and are not safe at all.

I give Kingswill guest house 5 stars and would really recommend this place. The hostess is attentive to detail that makes one's overnight stay comfortable, such as Peaceful Sleep in the rooms for those pesky mosquitoes. In the evenings there is a delicious Karoo farmer's food buffet so that one does not even have to drive somewhere. The overnight stay is very good value for money. The same type of accommodation along the N1 costs almost double what Kingswill charges.

Kingwill's Guest House is a lovely and neat overnight accommodation option after a long day on the road. The unit is stylishly furnished and has all the necessary accessories. Thanks to the adjacent hotel, you don't have to leave the premises to get something to eat in the evening, and the adjacent shop has cute gifts and breakfast before you hit the road again in the morning.
Unfortunately there was no water for all of us to shower. The bathroom window does not have a curtain or blind in front, so one has to shower and dress in front of the open window.
Management said the next morning that the pump that should supply the water was not working properly.
Bathroom had an unpleasant smell. We went for a disinfectant walk ourselves. Then more acceptable.
Lack of hot water was a problem!
Avoid "Grandma's house". It does not look anything like any of the photos and the facilities indicated on the web page do not apply (aircon, WiFi, DSTV). Unfortunately we also had no water to shower and the owner shrugged his shoulders and blamed the municipality. Other accommodation did have water.
Big expectations but what a disappointment! When you arrive you are met by the “unhappy” hostess that is doing you a favor to book you in, then you walk into a mosquito infested room and discover that the Doom is finished - killing 20 mossies per min! Then the kids bunker bed is unstable and the ladder is basically broken. You open the fridge and the milk is sour! Its 34 degrees in the Karoo and the shop is closed? You walk to the pool and get asked “where do you come from” its a private gate. It's not what you say but how you say it! Lastly, it's a “no smile zone” in this B&B! Everyone looks depressed. I would offer guests a cold drink on arrival, keep the shop open when guests are using the pool and learn how to communicate! Advert is great, the website profile is inviting but the experience is poor! Won't go back!
Double booking. Push us into a room after booking our apartment, precisely because we have two small children. Not kid friendly at all. Swimming pool may only be used at certain times. No privacy at room. Other people sat in front of our room drinking wine until early morning. Will never book with Kingswill's again. They put us in another place and forgot about us.
It's the cutest, cleanest place I've ever stayed in. The people are very friendly and the food is very good, it's really a pleasure to stay there.
We have stayed here a few times now. The guest house is clean and tidy and the service is fast and friendly. Kingwill's also has a delicious buffet dinner in the evenings, where you weigh and pay. The breakfast is also very tasty, R 70 per person for the breakfast buffet. Definitely value for money.

The guest house is in the beautiful old part of town. It's a neatly restored old building. The room is of the old types with high ceilings. It's a hot world, but the air conditioning works well. It's pet-friendly. Both the dinner and the breakfast were of a delicious country nature. Although a bit expensive, it is still to be recommended, also for the old-fashioned kind of dining room and decorations.

In general, the accommodation was clean and tidy. Although presented as a two bedroom place, in truth the second bedroom is actually the entrance/kitchen/front door. Any person sleeping there must enter the other bedroom to go to the bathroom. We also had a problem with the hot water in the shower. We have texted the number listed for after hours for help, but no one has responded to it until today. Therefore, we could not shower after a long day on the road, which was not pleasant.

Ideally located with a choice of restaurants. You can eat at the hotel's restaurant that is further complimented by a full bar, or you can eat in the deli (where breakfast is served), or enjoy a buffet meal which works on the Woollies weigh-and-pay system. The guesthouse has been recently redone and everything is beautifully clean.

Comfortable place, well located. Maybe it will help if they indicate on the description of the guesthouse that the village is "closed" on a Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, there was another restaurant, but all other stores, including the Spar and even the one at the guesthouse itself, were closed. If you know beforehand, you can plan accordingly.

We were received very hospitably and it was a lovely warm atmosphere.
Our room was spotless and very well equipped. The air conditioning was great in the heat and the children really enjoyed the pool. We had a great night's rest on very good quality mattresses and the full DStv package was a nice bonus. However, we felt that the price of the dinner buffet we enjoyed was expensive, but we would still recommend the stay.
Everything was very leaky except there is a problem with the water in the rooms. There was no water to shower! The restaurant in the hotel serves 5 star food, will go back just for that!

The interesting patio got our attention. It was late at night, and we were still served with fresh pies and salad. That's how you feel at home. The bath towels were silky soft and huge. The guest house offers many amenities and facilities. The meals are tasty and the service good and the prices reasonable. The room we slept in could do with some air conditioning as Victoria West is very hot in the summer.

For us it was special to spend the night there after almost 20 years with our 1997 Isuzu bakkie with almost 300,000 km.

Despite the town's power being out for a big part of the morning and the fact that they were without water the whole morning, they still received us in a friendly manner and everything was in place. We had a delicious dinner and everyone was friendly and helpful.

It's definitely value for money. The Karoo friendliness, helpfulness and hospitality earn 11 out of 10, every time. The history of the village and buildings are well preserved and very neat. The accommodation was more than adequate with air conditioning and ceiling fans. The deli offers the most delicious meals and drinks and your entire Christmas list can be fulfilled from their gifts. I'm definitely looking at Victoria West with new eyes now and won't miss the spot again!
The dinner hosted by the guest house was certainly a highlight - meeting new people, having a great time in a friendly, cozy atmosphere. The sleeping unit was very well planned and the needs of the guests were certainly thought of. Will stay there again for sure.
