127 guests' feedbackThis is our 2nd visit there. Will visit again and would recommend anyone to stay there.
We stayed in Die Stal on Kleinbos Kloof. It is a beautiful place and well equipped. It was bitterly cold and the fireplace and air conditioner in the room contributed a lot to being able to stay wonderfully. There is a swimming pool for the warmer months. It is a lovely experience to stay in an orchard full of oranges!
Beautiful home that was lovingly restored by its late owner, the renowned architect Gilbert Colyn and his charming wife Eleanor. The home is very welcoming and clean, beautifully furnished and fully equipped with everything that one could possibly need for self-catering. The information booklet provided lots of information about the town and surroundings and it was particularly interesting to read about the history and restoration of the various buildings on the property. The property is located in the middle of an orange grove and the lovely aroma of orange blossoms permeates the air and provides a very restful atmosphere. The hostess, Eleanor, is a charming lady. She was extremely helpful and very understanding when I had a mishap. Apart from welcoming us upon arrival, she even offered to make a restaurant booking for us. It was wonderful staying here and I can certainly recommend it very highly to single travellers and families alike. Remember to ask about the lovely condiments and jams that are prepared from the fruits grown on the property and are for sale at very reasonable prices.
Klein Boschkloof is beautiful, set in the midst of orange groves. The rooms are very large and comfortably furnished. We would definitely stay longer next time.
The stable's history is interesting.
Typically peaceful farm-style atmosphere, we were most comfortable in our "Old Cape Dutch House" which was fully equipped. Our hostess made us very welcome. We enjoyed a Braai out on the lovely private Boma outside our unit. The unit was spotless and the bed most comfortable. Fascinated by the thick walls and high roof.
We enjoyed the location and the quality of the accommodation.
Lovely old cottages, very comfortably furnished. Dense citrus plantations all round, obscuring the view; however, and some way out of town on a good gravel road. Property for sale at the time of our visit in April 2024.
A quiet Cape Dutch house in a beautiful valley with the native vegetation. The house is surrounded by orange bushes and many flowers. Clanwilliam is a quiet place which offers a lot to see and do. The downside is the way to the place over a longer gravelled road and the very intrusive flies and insects that spoil the experience at the pool.
We enjoyed our stay, it is a beautiful old house, the walls are thick so in winter it can be chilly.
It was okay for one night.
Was very nice, just far out of town on a dirt road.
Klein Boschkloof exceeded our expectations! The area offers many outdoor activities. The Stable in which we spent the night was cozy and very well equipped with the necessary equipment. Will definitely visit you again.
The cleanliness and beauty of our unit was absolutely perfect, and the small detail with which everything is set out is exceptional!. It's the little things that count!
Lovely stay there.
Everything was as on the website.
Very neat, well-equipped accommodation in a peaceful farm setting. Not that far out of town and the dirt road was good.
The accommodation was really beautiful and had so much character. The gravel road was a bit rough as we were not in a larger car.
The cottage we were in, like the others on the premises, is a lovingly restored Cape Dutch building. The furniture is stylish and tasteful; we appreciated the hot water bags as it was very cold. Everything was painstakingly neat and clean, and furnished for comfort. The water-saving shower was quite a challenge, but we realize it is necessary.
The unit was nice and spacious. The complimentary oranges from the surrounding grove was a lovely treat. The lights were very dim and the towels are old and very hard and need to be replaced.
Beds need attention, very soft. Lady also forgot our wood, but she came to apologize. Also very nice.
Very nice, neat and spacious.
Well equipped facilities, with power back-up during rolling blackouts, just a pity air-conditioning is not available during winter. Entrance to premises is problematic as you need to stop in main public road as you unlock gate to enter facility.
The website's GPS coordinates for this location are incorrect.
Lovely stay among the vineyards. Nice area with good weather.
The owner is very helpful and makes so much effort. All the little extras in the chalets make it feel like home. The view is just incredible and the tranquility really lets you switch off and relax. Would definitely go again anytime.
Beautiful place between the mountains and gorges, as well as the orange groves. The 9 km dirt road was a feast, even after a good rain the road was a feast to drive.
Neat, clean and creative. Had a wonderful stay. The directions to get there are confusing, especially if you are not coming from the direction of the Cape.
Very helpful people, but not intrusive in any way. Beautiful place.
It is a beautiful place between the orchards. Very friendly host.
Peaceful and well equipped chalet.
Farm stay in exquisite and spacious units with comfortable self-catering. Hostess extremely helpful and friendly. Very nice environment.
Peaceful visit in a place full of history.
Very nice stay. Pool is fantastic. Accommodation was also good.
Lovely, beautiful place and I would recommend it anytime for a quiet getaway and if you want to get off the 'grid'. Just doesn't work as well for business travel if you unfortunately have to work. No catches, which we were not aware of. Chalets are beautifully furnished and the surroundings are truly beautiful.
Everything was very good.
If you want quite and off the every day grid, then this is the place, no reception but WIFI is available, no traffic and no lights makes this for perfect getaway.
We spent a few days over Christmas in the Waenhuis. A wonderful place!
Very welcoming, friendly and value for money.
Beautiful place, it was wonderful.
We really enjoyed our stay - a green oasis, perfect to switch off and recharge. We'll definitely be back - also for the delicious onion and grape jam.
The place is beautiful among the orchards and is well equipped.
It was a very pleasant stay. A lot of effort was put into cleaning the chalet. Lovely to curl up comfortably by the fireplace after every day's flower viewing. Just a pity the choices of TV channels are really not good.
The guesthouse owners were very friendly and helpful. Very nicely restored house with nice fireplace and firewood for the cold winter evenings. We will definitely visit here again! Thank you very much for the hospitality.
Everything is shiny clean and everything you think you might need is there and available. Had a great time.
Spent one night while on a trip to see the flowers. Congratulations to Ellenore on an extremely well appointed and clean establishment surrounded by orange trees. Catered for everyone's needs. We felt very privileged to stay there.
The cottage was a delight. It really is a special place in amongst the orange trees and the variety of birds was astounding. We had a choice of two "stoep-sits" with a sunny side and a cool side. The lounge was comfortable and although we understand the need for extra sleeping space, we felt the two bedsitters were out of sync with the other decor (just personal taste). Everything was provided for and we felt special. Thank you Eleanor for the juicy oranges and for the lovely hand soap and lotion.
Place atmosphere with privacy.
It's a very quiet and calm place to rest. The gravel road was unexpected and is not ideal for a small car.
Brilliant location, wonderful home from home in a characterful historic house with all amenities included. Hostess, Elenore great and knowledgeable regarding the need of guests, will be back and back!
The farm is beautifully situated outside the town. Tranquility envelops you and the smell of the blossoms intoxicates you. The chalet is well and luxuriously equipped. Thank you also for the fresh oranges as a gift, very thoughtful. Bed is lovely and there is loads of space to put your stuff down without it falling over. The silence and dark evening ensure a quality night's rest, no traffic or street lights to bother you. Service was good (not that any service is needed). Slightly unclear instructions on how to get there - only negative comment.
Beautiful setting in citrus orchards!
Beautiful accommodation of high quality. Friendly reception. Will recommend.
We were warmly received and Eleanor went out of her way to sort out the WiFi for us. The chalets are stylish and well furnished with everything you need, even a washing machine. We would definitely recommend Klein Boschkloof to everyone and would without a doubt stay there again.
The chalet is about 20 minutes away from Clanwilliam, so you can enjoy a real farm experience. The hostess gave us oranges and other fruit from the farm. The Boskloof was also in full spring flower mode and was quite beautiful. The chalet had all utensils and everything needed for a great stay. There is also a swimming pool there for the hot summer days. Nice braai facilities at all chalets.
The accommodation was absolutely lovely. It was nestled in a perfect getaway setting. The rooms were very large and the outdoor area was fantastic and peaceful. The best spot was relaxing at the pool.
We were able to be upgraded to a larger cottage which was really special for our group as we could enjoy a more spacious place. All cottages are well decorated and have everything you need. Really enjoyed the stay.
The location is special in the valley, among the orchards. The residential units are nice and comfortable.
Next time we go I will request the adjoining accommodation as there is a lovely fireplace in the chalet where guests can make a fire. We were there precisely in snowy time and such a fire would of course have done just the thing. However, there was electric heating and so the cold was not problematic. A beautiful peaceful rural setting on an orange farm. Enjoyed it immensely and can confidently recommend. Oh yes, there are also homemade orange products for sale which was a plus.
Very comfortable space, well furnished. Good location for flower viewing, as well as peace and quiet.
Visited with my family and grandchildren this weekend. What a fantastic getaway. The chalets were neat, clean and had everything we wanted. Lovely quiet atmosphere with only the birds you hear. Eleanore was very considerate and stopped by to see if we needed anything. A weekend is definitely too short to take in everything. Will definitely revisit.
Our family of 4 had a wonderful stay at Klein Boschkloof. These are beautifully restored units, which are very clean and tidy with very good service. It is close to several hiking trails in the Cederberge. We would love to stay there again!
Exercising in the vicinity of the Cederberg is a wonderful experience in itself. Klein Boschkloof is then just the icing on the cake. This is one of the most beautiful self-catering units we have ever been to! We stayed in the Old House - a very old house that has been carefully restored so that much of the original character has been preserved. Despite this, it has all the amenities one would expect from a self-catering unit. Klein Boschkloof is a gem. We would love to go there again!
Very good location near the orange trees. Beautiful! The cottage is a beautifully restored stable with beautiful furniture. It was a lovely stay! Hostess welcomed us when we arrived.
Klein Boschkloof definitely impressed me. Such a peaceful and beautiful piece of paradise. House was perfect. Children enjoyed the pool. Will definitely go again. Reception was good.
The guest chalets are spacious, renovated in style and comfortable. Internet is very good, cell phone connection (including SMS) is fairly absent. The surrounding garden and orchids add to the beauty.
Payment for the balance was demanded in cash (no credit card facility) and was a huge inconvenience. I was made to feel I was doing the inconveniencing. Many rules and regulations also did not make for a relaxing stay. The charge was high for mediocre accommodation.
Lovely nostalgic house full of original old fashioned luxury with all the modern amenities one needs for a lovely relaxing holiday. Eleanor is very hospitable and personally helped with all queries we had.
We were surprised with the beautiful surroundings. We discovered a beautiful place and would love to go there again.
It was a lovely break from the city. It is good for the soul to rest there. A book is a must, for delightful reading in the neat and clean place to stay. Thank you very much for allowing us to share in it.
We had a wonderful stay. The service was very friendly and they made us feel very welcome. Beautiful place. We were able to buy some of the fresh oranges and narcissus hanging from the trees.
Enjoyed the break away, really felt separated from city life. The fireplace gave a cosy atmosphere and enjoyed the braai inside. The privacy was awesome.
Rest and peace with the most beautiful location among fruit orchards.
There are four accommodations available, all four lovely. We stayed in the "ou huis", which indeed is very old and nicely restored. A bit dark inside but that's part of staying in an old farm. Kitchen is very nicely equipped, with dishwasher and washing machine. There is a lovely garden with private braai area behind the house. In the area there's plenty opportunity to hike, bike (if you bring your own), and other activities.
It was truly a pleasant 3 days we spent at Kleinboschkloof New Year 2017/2018. Clean braai facilities. Each unit has its own private braai area. Centrally located to explore the Cedar Mountains and parts of the West Coast. Lack of cell phone reception actually made it quieter. Information brochures in the unit helped a lot as the tourist office at Clanwilliam was closed during our visit. I was particularly impressed with the environmental awareness, e.g. water conservation and recycling of glass and plastic.
We can highly recommend Klein Boschkloof.
Beautiful location, but be prepared for an 8 km drive on the dirt road and no cell service! We wanted a get away, and it just that. Stunning setting, and we took the most beautiful starry night photos.
Very nice rural atmosphere. Beautiful old-fashioned character and neatly furnished.
Chalets are great, did not like the showers head, very weak. The TV needed a pin number, could not watch anything.
We stayed in “Die Stal”. The unit is comfortably furnished with ball and claw imbuing pieces. We used the fireplace in the evenings. Enjoyed our stay very much.
Would recommend to any nature lover. Just be prepared to drive dirt road. Cottages are well maintained and tidy with modern aspects. There is no cell phone signal between mountains so prepare to be cut off from internet and some mobile phones.
Stayed for 4 nights, no water pressure, unable to take a shower for two days until problem sorted, owner not very helpful. Other wise accommodation was very good and comfortable except bathroom was freezing, no heating, needs sorting.
Enchanting, friendly and peaceful. Great value for money.
This was everything I wished for. Seclusion, nature, lovely smells of the blossoms, beautiful bird song, hospitality of the hostess and a luxury treat.
Friendly service, very nice accommodation. Very convenient. Beautiful surroundings. Everything was well taken care of.
Prachtige huizen,heerlijk zwembad,geweldig personeel,keuke eigenaars,en zeer veilig!
See the stars.
We had a good rest. The accommodation was good.
Good location. So beautiful and relaxing. 8 km gravel road to the destination. They should have made that clear. Excellent otherwise.
Beautifully between the gorges you are embraced with orange groves. Tastefully equipped, truly a must stay home. Really fantastic.
Very good service as well as a very neat overnight facility that I can strongly recommend.
The chalets are situated 9 km from the town on a good dirt road. They are set amongst the orange trees, with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Our particular chalet was well equipped, but it consisted of only one room with a rattan blind screening off the small bedroom area. It has a very nice bathroom with bath and a shower. The chalet was cool, due to the very thick walls but we did find it rather dark inside. Eleonore kindly brought in a better lamp for the lounge. The chalet has a lovely private braai area outside with a table and chairs, all surrounded by orange trees.
Lovely interior and spotless clean. Really enjoyed it. The host, Eleanor, took extra care to get my purse (which I have forgotten) back to me. Thank you!
The lovely self-catering unit creates a lovely atmosphere in the middle of the citrus orchard. Everything is very comfortable and cuddly. Very well equipped with attention to finer details. The surroundings and wildflowers are beautiful. Hostess is on the ball with information about what is happening in the area.
It was very pleasant and clean.
The quaint little houses have been beautifully renovated and the view from the farm is breathtaking. The 9 km gravel road is definitely worth it. Peaceful and quiet, food for the soul. Will definitely book again.
Klein Boschkloof Chalets is a beautiful area to go and rest and just enjoy the countryside. The chalet itself was very well equipped and extremely neat and tidy. Everything was just the best. Will really recommend them. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality with our stay.
Really nice small holdings. Nut trees, grapes and fruit orchards provide greenery and coolness in the dry and hot valley. Nice climb up the hill and Krakadauw's walking route was also close by to get out and into nature. The fun swimming and lying in the shade on the grass under the trees after the time to cool off was great. Will go back again for sure.
We stayed in the beautiful revamped stable, an original Cape home among the orange trees, brimming with oranges when we were there (September 2016). Open fire place, own kitchenette. The valley is very peaceful and the mountains are only a 1 km hike away. Overall excellent accommodation.
Only stayed one night so can't really make a judgement.
Klein Boschkloof is a fantastic place. It's an oasis in the Cedar Mountains. Fantastic location. Eleanore Colyn is very friendly and helpful.
We had a lovely stay at Klein Boschkloof Chalets. The hostess was very nice and helpful. Chalets very private. Accommodation comfortable and clean and wonderfully spacious. The orange blossoms are a feast for the eyes and sense of smell. I would recommend the safe accommodation to everyone and we will definitely go there again. The braai-lapa was so beautiful that we are also going to build one for ourselves. The chalet is equipped with everything under the sun, you only need to take your food and clothes with you. Thank you Klein Boschkloof, we will come again. And LekkeSlaap is at the top of our choice list. Friendly hostess, everything neat and comfortable.
Everything was just right. The beds were very comfortable. The units are very well equipped. It was clean.
We enjoyed our stay and the facilities were good. It is nice to be on the farm out of town and the area is beautiful.
The only complaint is that the coach house windows are very small, so the room is a bit dark for my liking. The hostess was very nice and went out of her way for us.
Was very impressed upon our arrival at Kleinbosch. The place was clean and tidy and everything in its place.
Very comfortable, beautiful place and the people are friendly. It was a lovely place to spend the night. Quiet and beautiful. Everything you need is there. People are friendly and helpful. Thank you very much.
It is advertised as "self catering chalet". We had a room with a bathroom, but no wash-up kitchen facilities in accommodation. We had to use communal wash-up. There is only a microwave for cooking purposes. For a 4-star rating I felt this was not acceptable. We also had to use communal area to sit outside and one of the neighbours was extremely rude about us using the table and chairs as he obviously felt they were part of his accommodation only.
We enjoyed our stay at Klein Boschkloof. It is a peaceful and tranquil environment amongst the citrus trees.
With a few small fixes it could become a 5 star place. The showers leak at the doors and water flows on the floor. Water supply for showers/baths is erratic. They should warn people in advance that the rooms are not taken care of and communicate better regarding payments/deposits and provide a better explanation of the DStv package that is available.
We booked two nights at Klein Boschkloof Chalets. Unfortunately, we were not very warmly welcomed. First, there was no doorbell and the area has no cell phone reception - so no way to contact the owner. After knocking on the gate and getting no response, we decided to go inside. We finally caught the owner at the back door, but she did not introduce herself to us. We introduce ourselves and refer to the discussion and she jokes: "I don't know about such a discussion". It was not very welcoming. The room, Waenhuis 1, was comfortable with a shower and bath. The thick walls ensured that it was always cool inside. The cottages are surrounded by citrus trees and large oak trees - so it's wonderfully cool and relaxing. On Christmas Eve, the farm workers came to sing carols for all the guests - it was really very special, just a shame it was so late in the evening (11pm). When we left we got the same service as when we arrived. No one hears the gate and we just walk back to the back door to drop off the keys. The owner is busy having breakfast on the veranda and we are almost at her place before she gets up to take the key. If only the service was better.
It was disappointing for us that such a beautiful place was so neglected. From the pool's water, the toilet in need of repair, long grass around the unit, swarms of flies... one gets the feeling that there is not a "hand" on the place and that is a great pity because it could be a piece of paradise.
Really a good experience among the orange blossoms! Fresh fruit from the orchard every day in the rooms, you really feel part of the farm! The flowers in the area are also beautiful. Excellent service during the stay.
We have just returned from out trip and we had a great time. Our stay at Klein Boschenkloof was lovely
A Beautiful place in orange groove. Built in every respect to keep with traditional architectural style, much improved by todays possibilities. Exquisite decor. One of the best places on farm to stay I have been until now.
Very peaceful among the fruit trees. Unfortunately, we found that the room is not really fully equipped for cooking. There is a kettle and a microwave, but for example no bowl to use in the microwave. No bread knife or barbecue tongs. But otherwise it was good and delightfully cool in the historic building.
Will definitely recommend again. Very friendly and called me to find out when I was coming.
Pretty Dutch style cottages in peaceful surroundings. The smell of orange blossoms permeates the air. We spent 3 nights in Waenhuis 1 which was clean and comfortable. Perfect to use as a base to explore the interesting surrounds of Clanwilliam.
The pool was a blessing after activities on a hot day. Enjoyed the coffee bags! Only minor complaint was that the shower leaked. We will be back!
The most delicious scent of orange blossoms in the air. Although the kitchen is small, we lacked nothing and had a great time relaxing.
The location was inconvenient - 9 km out of town on a dirt road... The unit is neat.
