Welcoming, comfortable, relaxing, peaceful.
We shall return. Great staff, comfortable chalet with a cosy braai area, lovely pool (sadly too chilly for a dip this time!) and a great dinner in the new restaurant. The setting was so peaceful. Sadly the roads were in a bit of a state, but there had been lots of very heavy rain so I'm sure that will be rectified soon.
Very peaceful place to stay and the atmosphere and nature are wonderful. We spotted a giraffe near our cottage, which made the time there extra special.
The surroundings are very beautiful and the silence gives one life again. The animals are a bonus that you can see so close.
Hot, expensive and not much to do. Can't drive the farm roads and there isn't much game, so no game tits either.
The restaurant's food was incredibly tasty.
Friendly welcome, clean and tidy with everything you need. Stars are incredibly beautiful. Worth a visit!
We don't just complain about accommodation and usually overlook small things that might come up - but our stay at Klein Karoo Game Lodge was really very bad. I'm sorry to complain about this, but for the price we paid for the stay (discounted or not) it really wasn't ideal. We never received the code from the owners to get the keys to the gate and open the safe to receive the keys. So we stood outside the gate for 20 minutes to try to call the venue, but with poor reception in the area, we only got hold of the receptionist after 20 minutes, got the code and went in. We arrived at our place and unpacked and wanted to take a hot shower because it was cold and raining. We then found out after another 20 minutes of struggle, there is no hot water. Tried calling reception, couldn't get through due to weak signal Fortunately, my fiance then thought it good to walk around. We then saw that it was a gas geyser and the gas geyser was not connected. After a struggle we eventually got hold of reception and the lady said she was sending someone out. After another half hour, a maintenance man came out to connect the geyser. By this time we are lying in bed watching TV for the cold. We canceled our plans to drive around because we were waiting for the maintenance man. He had to come in to check the water, so couldn't just leave our stuff there alone. He was friendly and said there was a miscommunication. Even after my fiance helped him and kept turning the water on and off, the geyser was connected. The man then left and I tried to shower again. So we came after the water only got lukewarm. Luckily we know gas geysers and my fiance then went back and we found out the geyser was never set. He then warmed it up. We then also found out that the drain was blocked and the water was pushing up and the water was coming out at the side under the ground at the drain next to the house. By the time I'm tired of struggling so leave the shower and don't feel like switching it back on so it gets sorted out. Nevertheless, we checked in at the restaurant for dinner at 18h30. We then tell the manager/receptionist about the blockage. She then said they would sort it out tomorrow morning. Later she comes back and says that the owner says it's "normal" and "aspris" like that so the little flowers can get water. We immediately knew it was just an excuse because my fiance does maintenance and a blocked drain is definitely not "aspris" like that! We'll leave it there. The food was delicious and the waiter very friendly, but had to wait a long time for the bill and then stood at the counter for another 10 minutes waiting for the waiter who was busy in the kitchen. Back at the room I took a shower, the water didn't wash away and had to put a towel in front of the shower so the floor wouldn't get washed away. There is no door in front of the shower, so the towel had to do. My fiance showered in the morning and followed the same routine because the water does not drain in the shower. Long story short, we checked out in the morning and again struggled to check in so I could get the code to store the key in the safe as we drove out. It is a bitterly beautiful place and if it weren't for the plumbing problems, funny feedback and long wait at the restaurant, it would have been really nice. But for the price we paid, you at least expect the plumbing and geyser to be right. This should not be the guest's problem. I really hope we are the only guests who experienced that! The foreigners may think it's normal and that they're in the "wild", but as locals getting away for a weekend, it wasn't convenient at all. I would go so far as to say that the venue should actually give us a refund. They asked for a review, but I don't think they want to see our experience on a public platform. We are very sorry to complain, but I really just feel, if you are using your hard earned money to break away, then the "normal" things like hot water and plumbing should at least be in place!
It was OK but I will not go back again.
Loved the privacy and interior of the cabins!
We enjoyed the weekend very much and had a good time together. The outdoors did us all good and we slept wonderfully.
So few upgrades can work quite well, I see e.g. an outdoor spa on the deck overlooking the plains.
This is a lovely place to enjoy nature and be on your own, walk wherever and feel comfortable. One can drive if walking is not your thing. The owner is very welcoming. The animals are people-tame to an extent. Due to the severe drought the animals have to be fed which enables very good photographs. Of course the Karoo nights are always good.
We had a great time! We were greeted by two beautiful giraffes. we had the company of a tame guinea fowl. The place was beautifully clean and comfortably furnished. It was also wonderful to watch the different animals being fed. We just didn't have enough time to move around anymore. We are considering visiting again next year.
We enjoyed it a lot. It was hot but we enjoyed every moment. See you again soon. Thank you for the friendly service.
The chalet we stayed in as a couple was neat and simple. Our hosts were friendly and helpful. The farm is not far outside Oudsthoorn at all and the nature around us was beautiful. Snow on the mountains, Karoo forest, some wildlife, bright stars and nice cold (August). Would recommend to any friend who wants to get away, be quiet and still do some fun things if they are willing to drive.

If you just want to relax, then this is the place for you.
Neat accommodation near Oudtshoorn. All amenities at hand. Roads that a sedan can drive to see wildlife.
Good location, private, equipped well, wonderful nature. Romantic place. Very friendly service. Everything is clean and neat.
If you are looking for silence, without any noise, the Klein Karoo Game Lodge is the right place for you. Just a bird's song now and then. It's just a shame the drought had such a big impact on the animals.
Close to Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp. Very beautiful with lots of wildlife to see. It might get a bit hot in the summer, but there is air conditioning.
Thank you very much Chantal and Johann, our family of 4 had a wonderful stay, slept, showered and bathed! The silence, fresh air, wild animals especially the curious giraffes and beautiful view gave us a good rest! See you again.
Everything well arranged, cottage has everything needed. Quiet, clean environment. Silence wonderful. Beautiful animals and icing on the cake, for me were the giraffes on my walk!
Arrival and arrangements were received by sms in advance, very convenient. Found everything we needed in the cottage. Peaceful getaway.
Definitely worth it.
About 15 km outside Oudshoorn, this fanatical lodge lies wonderfully in nature. Worth the drive and stay. What a pleasure to sit on the veranda and watch the animals. One own large braai grill with wood to use. Fantastic to enjoy there.
We had a very nice time and will definitely be returning.
Quiet and safe. Very nice for children.
Very comfortable 3 bedroom house.
It was very nice and beautiful. The people are very hospitable. The place was clean and tidy. It just needs a little bit of maintenance. The cabinet doors and the drawers do not have handles. Cabinets can not be closed properly and the doors are also skew. The cottage is well equipped and has the most beautiful views. We had a lovely stay.
Delicious among wildlife and very neat and clean. Was a great pleasure to stay there and would recommend to anyone.
See stars.
Clean tidy accommodation. Extremely safe and beautiful animals to view.
Even though we showed up late, the host couple received us very well. They made us feel at home and showed us personally to our accommodation. The little house was very stylish and comfortably apponted. Nature lovers will love the area.
See stars.
