Lovely stay, the host was an asset, food was tasty.
A clean and comfortable stopover. Unusually furnished with beautiful antique furniture. The car was safely kept behind a large gate, away from the hordes of beggars in the town. The host was friendly and helpful. We did not eat at the restaurant, which looked expensive. Guests would probably prefer light meals which, like the rest of the place, offer really good value for money. Not knowing there was a restaurant, we brought our own food, which we enjoyed with the tea/coffee provided.
The decor is stunning. Was very cold but they have an electric blanket and aircon which makes it very comfortable. Did miss a small hanging cabinet. Will stay there again for sure.

Our first overnight stay with our 'road trip'. A delightful surprise after 8 hours on the road. Beautiful people who made us feel at home. Nice food by the fireplace and a beautiful room.

The Kliphuijs is an oasis in the heart of the Karoo. Feel free to have dinner and breakfast here. It's really beautiful.
The Kliphuis was a great stopover on our way to Cape Town from Johannesburg. The rooms were clean and beautifully furnished, and dinner was delicious - home-cooked. The room is right on the road that goes through Richmond and there was some noise from cars and people walking past. Due to loadshedding it became very hot in the room as we could not run the aircon and had to open the windows. Would highly recommend the venue and our host - Louis who was very efficient and attentive.

The stay at Kliphuijs was pleasant. Unfortunately it is located on a noisy corner of town. The room, linen etc. was excellent. It's a shame that only one dish is offered for dinner - some people prefer something light in the evening. Due to load shedding the shower was lukewarm in the evening - perhaps an extra cylinder should be installed. It would also help if each room had a hot water bottle in which the guests could get boiling water for tea or coffee during load shedding.
An awesome stayover en route to Gauteng! The accommodation was novel and well equipped, premises neat and shower warm. The outstanding aspect was the exceptional personal care and service rendered by Louis. Can recommend the stay, an absolute Karoo gem!
The guesthouse is a stone's throw from the N1 in the small town of Richmond. It's an ideal stopover for a trip down to the Western Cape for people travelling from Gauteng. We had dinner that was served at the guesthouse, and it was a little bit disappointing. At that price per person I would have expected a bit more.
Loved the stay and the food, but thought the food was a bit pricey for what we got. Unfortunately, the town was very much alive on a Sunday evening and the windows were not very soundproof to the street. A great location to break up a long road trip.
On arrival the places visually impressed, very neat. Unfortunately, the minimum I expect is a comfortable bed and hot water in the morning, neither of which was available. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and not standard length either. It will work in length for those shorter than 1.6 / 1.65 meters. There was no hot water in the morning to shower with, and loadshedding is an excuse. I think it helps a lot as a business to spend money on Nespresso machines (which also can't work during loadshedding) and expensive hand soaps if you can't make sure your guests have hot water. Finally, it was also extremely noisy outside my daughters window which was on the street side, there were people hanging out / partying in the street very late.
The noise of trucks and cars in the street in front of the place is disturbing. Otherwise good for overnight.
We booked the family room for an overnight stay. We were pleasantly surprised. The Kliphuijs is beautiful, neat and the service we received was excellent. Definitely worth the money. We can definitely recommend this guest house to anyone. Their food was also top notch. Thank you very much for allowing us to spend the night here.
Kliphuijs is a great place for a stop-over during a roadtrip. The beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly, and the outdoor space was beautiful Perfect for stargazing!

Warmly received. The hostess made sure we were 100% happy. The linen and decor are five star. The Seisoen Karoo next door is certainly a great asset for Richmond. The meal like this on this beautiful stoep was a 'keep away memory'. Will definitely stay here again! Strong recommendation to all travelers.

Wonderful little gem. Safe, clean and the food was delicious. Fact that you can take your pets and have a braai is great. The garden is very pretty. The room on the road is unfortunately exposed to noisy traffic when people race past, instead of keeping to the speed limit. I think a speed bump in front of the house is a good idea.
I wish we could stay longer! The stone house was a beautiful place to sleep, very close to the main road. Very comfortable rooms and excellent service.
Couldn't have asked for anything more. Everything is in excellent condition. The (optional) dinner was delicious, but slightly on the expensive side. The only problem (and this applies to most accommodation in Richmond) is that part of our room faced the street. Every person and car that passed sounded like it was right in the room. Fortunately, it was only for a short time. Other than that it was a lovely experience!

The first impressions are pleasant and the Kliphuijs has a lot of potential. It is the finer details that are missing and the first impressions are sometimes very superficial. The shower floor was very sloping and dangerously slippery, and the finish of the bathrooms not of a high standard. The lack of water with loadshedding is a problem and the constant noise inside the room quite annoying (sounds like a pressure pump). And an unpleasant surprise to have to pay extra for instant coffee with breakfast.
