52 guests' feedbackIt was a perfect weekend away with our 4 foot children. Will go again for sure. The mountains are fantastic and the facilities in the house, everything one needs.
There is no word at all. It was super amazing over. It was fantastic.
I had a wonderful stay.
Unsurprisingly our second time here. So incredibly beautiful! Definitely will be back.
The location is perfect and the view is breathtaking. Kliphuis has everything you need and was good value for money.
Everything was neat, and everything you needed was there. Maybe extra blankets would have helped with the snow on the mountain.
Loved it - dankie. Will recommend to anyone that wants peace and quiet. Beautiful surroundings.
The view was incredible and definitely the highlight of the stay. Kliphuis is on a fruit farm just outside Tulbagh and here you are surrounded by the beautiful mountains. We had a great barbecue and stretched out on the balcony. The stars at night are breathtaking. The accommodation is nice and close to wine farms and Tulbagh.
Very peaceful break away from the city. Pristine views and all round great vibes at this spot. You can even go for a quick little run in the morning if so inclined. (Take note you must pick up the keys in town).
The location is nice, but we had no gas on Saturday and Sunday, so no hot water. On Sunday there was no power, so no coffee. (There was no loadshedding).
Tranquility on a working fruit farm.
Quiet and beautiful. Ideal getaway when you need silence!
All the necessary things were in the house. The cottage needs some TLC, but will definitely go again!
The place is neat with a lovely atmosphere. The cottage needs maintenance here and there, but it's still very comfortable! The environment reminds me of the Alps, really very special! The farms bordering the cottage have many walking and jogging opportunities. Natural vegetation has been left here and there, ensuring an abundance of native birds. I would suggest that the braai facilities be renovated and also that the fence around the balcony be made more child-proof, especially if you have children under 3 years old. If you come in summer or spring, take enough mosquito repellent with you.
I love the rustic look and display, as I originate from the very rural areas in the Northern Cape. However, I have a friendly recommendation, being in the customer care service myself for more than 20 years. I would suggest replacing some of the bedding, it is old and consists of stains. Maybe also clean and repair the roof bamboo latte, some of them are loose. The braai stand and grid have seen better days, and the wooden balcony panel is old, loose and poses a safety risk.
Exactly what we needed for a short break. The porch has the most beautiful view and the fireplace inside was perfect for the cold evening. The house needs some maintenance, but if you are prepared for it, the cottage is very good value for money. We will go back again.
We had a great stay - would only recommend to work on the beauty, under the bed and above the fireplace etc.
Rest with a breathtaking view.
This house is not for everyone - there are plenty of negative reviews. It is a bit rundown and there are quite a few things that could do with fixing or replacing. It is also about 100 meters away from a very busy farmyard with lots of activity from 6 am to 6 pm. It is also in a very beautiful location with huge mountains and rolling orchards all around you. If you are willing to rough it a bit and appreciate the lower cost than most other options in the area, then it could be ideal. If you are on the more demanding end of the spectrum, then perhaps look at spending a bit more.
It is a working farm and the truck and wonderful farm traffic is fascinating. Beautiful setting. Finches make nests over the water and let everyone know they're there. Lots of bird species for the bird lovers. Lovely to walk around among the orchids.
The very best house.
If you are concerned about negative reviews of this place, I'm here to tell you that those people must be full of nonsense. The place is rustic. And it's amazing. The view from the deck is awesome for sundowners and the fireplace inside is huge and warms up the whole house. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need - even down to wine and bubbly glasses. The bar fridge is quite small but has enough space for meat and salad stuff, so just be sure to bring cooler boxes with ice to keep your drinks in. There is a gas geyser, so all 6 of us had ample hot water to shower each morning. The shower is open-plan in the bathroom, so if you're a splashy showerer, there's a mop to soak up the excess water. There are enough blankets and towels, a heater and a fan, extension cables and two-point plugs, and plenty of mirrors for getting ready. It's very close to Rijk's wine farm and not far from town or the rest of the wine route. We had a lovely stay and made memories to last a lifetime.
Certain elements could be cleaned better and should be inspected before guests arrive.
The getaway was a good experience for us. Visitors just have to remember to take their own can opener and kitchen scissors with them, as well as their own grill, as the grill that is there is very badly rusted. We also took our own WiFi with us. In the second room with a double bed, there are no shelves or drawers for clothes, etc. not. The basement bedroom's bedding had animal hair and a blood stain on it. Some of the items in the kitchen had probably not been used for a long time, because the lid of the teapot was full of dust. Thank you very much for the nice big ice/freezer!
Quiet place to stay where we would like to stay again and longer. Working farm with lots of activity to observe and friendly work crews. Lovely area to explore on foot. The porch railing and braai will only need to be replaced soon.
The house is nice and comfortable. It just needs renovation. Loose roof sheets are very disturbing when the wind blows. There were nice and clean linen and towels on the beds. Ideal place for children to run around and enjoy.
The view from the veranda was incredibly beautiful, but remember warm clothes for the evenings. It would be nice to have a braai in the unit.
The photos are misleading. The house is much smaller than it appears and the amenities basic. The barbecue tools need replacement and please. a barbecue would be nice. Even for 2 people, a small bar fridge is definitely insufficient. The dust needs a cleaning. For what we paid, it is probably acceptable because the environment made up for the disappointment. We still had a lovely weekend.
It was very nice. Was there for weekend, Friday to Sunday. Early on Saturday morning, the people from the farmhouse and the cottage behind us went out and never came back, so was completely alone. The problem with that was that the 3 Jack Russells barked all day. The other 2 farm dogs came to us when they saw us and stayed there the whole time until we waved. We just gave them food and water. A broom would be nice, we just went to buy one.
Tulbagh is one of the most beautiful villages with the most beautiful people, but what makes this Kliphuis stand out is the view, sometimes our group of friends sat dead still and stared at the beautiful green fields that lay before us with the dam at our feet. It was phantasmagoric and so nice and peaceful. Then there is the plus point that you lie in the middle of the wine farms and a day out was so nice, because we could go to a climbing place to taste wine and olives. Yum! The photos are a little outdated. A few small recommendations but really, please. not taking these as criticisms, just comments that I feel could only make it better. The fridge doesn't really get cold, we had to throw away over R400 worth of meat and fruit that got hairs and went down, because the fridge doesn't work that well, the freezer is great. Maybe think about putting a drum with a lid inside the house or a large drum outside. With the heat, the open drum does not work so well with the flies. And finally, the seat set outside is pretty much falling apart and can't really be used, thinking about replacing it or just trying to fix it.
It is a lovely location, very peaceful. The views are gorgeous and the house feels very homely.
Opener for your beer.
We enjoyed every moment. Nature was the icing on the cake. We were very satisfied with reception at the office and with the rest of the time we were there.
The peaceful birds and beautiful views are spot on. Warning: if you are afraid of spiders, this might not be your best pick. Apart from the creepers, would definitely reccommend.
The farm animals (2 Jack Russels and one Alsatian) make rest impossible as they bark from half past seven in the morning until just before midnight. Otherwise, it is a wonderful farm life that one can enjoy.
Very good for the soul and value for money. Will book again anytime.
The place has a lot of potential with a beautiful view. It just needs a little work to make sure the place doesn't look run down.
Bed linen was dirty and freezer full of old blood.
Place was dirty, worst I haven't experienced in a long time. Cutlery under dust. The lower room smells of caturine. House full of flies that could easily be sprayed. Everywhere cobwebs and dust. Living room sofas full of dirty stains. Overall cleanliness very poor. Gas for geyser already finished on arrival, so not checked.
We stayed at the Kliphuis for a weekend, the location is amazing with views for days! It's pet-friendly and there are a few resident dogs on the farm (Jack Russells). The dam is also really great for a quick relaxing paddle. I would absolutely return here for another relaxing trip, highly recommended.
Was too nice around the fireplace in the evening and in the winter sun with the views from the deck the morning after!
Good for the soul.
The house is located next to a dam which makes the location in the mountains even more breathtaking. The place is quite old so don't expect 5 star facilities. Perfect for a weekend getaway in nature.
We enjoyed the stay. The nature and the tranquility that took us away from the noise and bustle of the city. The place makes you feel like you could stay there forever.
It is very beautiful there. We had no hot water, so a nice shower was not too much trouble.
There was a problem with the water which was not nice.
We had a lovely 2-night stay at the Kliphuis. It is nestled in a secluded area up against the mountainside, with sweeping views of the Tulbagh valley. We used the lovely big fireplace in the lounge to keep warm from the chilly weather outside. We'll definitely be back!
Thanks a wonderful cottage, loved the mountain surrounds, water bodies and birds. The house could use some attention (reeds and shower) but enjoyed the rustic effect. Took hike up the mountain too.
