83 guests' feedbackThe place was nice and clean, everything was in its place. Easy to navigate. Loved the area. Will definitely make use of this place again.
It was awesome! Plekkie has everything you need. Those warm blankets on the beds, perfect for winter. He licks!
Beautiful and peaceful.
Incredibly nice place to stay if you are looking for silence and natural beauty. Unfortunately it didn't snow, but sitting next to the pond with a coffee at dusk is just good for the soul.
Amazing, I was the only one at the campsite!
Had a great stay in a warm house in the cold.
Very cosy cottage. Peaceful with spectacular views. Shower floor on a slope, could be hazard.
Our stay was pleasant, just some items had not been washed properly so we had to wash them before use. Otherwise a lovely comfortable cottage.
We hired the place for 4 nights. The best thing was the good quality, fresh-smelling linen in all bedrooms. The house needs some serious attention, especially the woodwork. For 2 nights, it rained and the rainwater spilled over the gutters, hitting the wooden doors as you enter the hall. It would be useful to have outside covered shelter for such situations. The wooden floors are creaky and need maintenance. It is not adequate to just cover up poor maintenance with big carpets. The carpet in the lounge is a trip hazard. Remove it before you get sued by an American tourist. The inside of the house is not very clean, and you can smell it. There is lots of bathroom scum around the taps and tile grout. Everything needs a deep cleaning scrub. The kitchen cupboard door handles are sticky. You can smell the jute carpets as you walk in. Electricity was a problem. Not just load shedding, but when taking showers, we got shocked in both bathrooms. The power kept tripping, so we had to turn off the heaters in the lounge. There is no WiFi. We had to leave our place and walk 200m to the camp for access. From the first day, there was bird poo on the outside tables and chairs. Someone needs to wipe the outside benches daily so that one can actually sit. These simple things matter! There is no network signal, no WiFi, no board games, no playing cards, and not even a pen to write your thoughts. After 2 days of hiking, we just wanted to chill but not be bored. But it was raining, we could not sit outside, and there was nothing to do inside. On the last day, we left earlier than planned since we had not had power for 14 hours. The visitor in the other cottage left in the crack of dawn as a result. The dirty pond water and overgrown grass may look appealing on the internet, but it attracts mosquitoes. I cannot imagine visiting in the middle of summer. Dogs are really friendly.
We had a great stay, thank you.
Very good campsite not your usual campsites, only a part of the farm with big trees and pitches. It was an experience and adds to the word "enough" to be able to enjoy yourself and very calm was wonderful.
It's now my fifth time there and I enjoy it every time. The tranquility, no WiFi and the house always leave me with a tranquility that you can't find in the city.
Was so quiet, beautiful and peaceful. Lovely campsite.
We really enjoyed the break. Our children really enjoyed the environment and nature and enjoyed cycling, rowing on the small pond (by the main farmhouse), picking up crystals in the mountain etc. It was quiet and peaceful (not cherry time) and I would recommend it. The house was neat. It's an older perfectionist house and there were one or two things that weren't perfect, but as mentioned it was very neat and private and we enjoyed having less signal and internet. There is internet available in one or two places on the premises for emergency contact with the outside world. Very nice break away.
No frills, but clean, tidy and comfortable. Comfortable farmhouse. Lots of birds and nice walking trails.
Great place to take your dogs to run freely.
Our stay was lovely, loved exploring the farm and seeing the stages of fruit growing. Bird watching and very welcoming and friendly people around. The weather was lovely during the day, but early hours of the morning it's quite cold, so take your jackets. Overall, stunning and peaceful location for a rest.
Front door needs a blind or curtain. Additional activities for the guest with children and teenagers would be an advantage. WiFi or cell boosters would be an added bonus for the campers and cottage guests.
Delicious cherry picking experience. Friendly reception and beautiful surroundings.
A nice, fresh morning walk through the orchards and around the farm will only do you good, with the beautiful nature staring at you! Out of season in October was quiet, with millions of flowers, not only on the cherry trees. Just make sure you pack some nice fresh bread for the cherry jam that is on the table in the kitchen!
Nice break with my husband in a beautiful environment.
Many fired and also fried. Great, warm sleep. Unfortunately it wasn't as cold as I wanted it to be, the rest were grateful for the less cold. So sorry we missed the snow, presumably by a few days. It's a wonderful, peaceful place to unwind.
Best place to hear the birds sing, view the stars and relax. No TV, no wifi and just nature. My fur babies loved their stay.
Jenine received us and made us feel right at home. Everything we needed was provided and more, through the power outage. Everything is neat and clean. Thank you very much.
We were warmly welcomed by the Foreman at the farm and given a brief of the different fruit being harvested there. The camp site was nice clean and there were no unpleasantness amongst the campers. What was refreshing that you could leave your things outside your tent, go on walks to come back and find it as you left it. The ablution block is kept clean at all times there is just one thing that they could see to is that they build a bigger shower area as its a bit too tiny to move in but on the whole its a beautiful establishment. Will definitely be go back, but I will consider making use of the Chalets.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 4-night stay at Klondyke Cherry Farm. It was so quiet and peaceful our flat batteries became fully recharged by the 2nd evening. We were able to take our fur babies with us and they loved the freedom of exploring the grounds. The Duck Pond cottage was very clean and catered for all our needs. The owner Alan and his assistant Janene were extremely friendly, pleasant and helpful and their Cherry Jam tops all other jams. We definitely recommend Klondyke Cherry Farm for a well-deserved break from the rat race of the city.
What a nice getaway. The house is very spacious, tidy and well equipped with everything you would need. With no catches, it was the perfect break to visit and chat with family. At night you can look at the beautiful starry sky and listen to the croaking of the frogs at the pond. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful on the phone and upon arrival we were kindly received by the farm manager and owner. Was able to take the most beautiful photos among the fruit orchards and went home with delicious cherry jam and syrup. Will definitely go again cherry time.
Very tranquil and lovely to unwind and relax. The owner is very friendly and is an amazing person. One feels very welcome and a definite urge to return. We have spent a beautiful time With other campers as everyone seems to blend in easily once you're on Klondyke.
It was very nice. Nobody bothers you. It is outside the town, which makes it so quiet.
Very nice stay, restful, but would only recommend wifi.
It was incredibly nice to visit the farm Klondyke. Friendly reception from owners and pet. The atmosphere and the beautiful landscape are so indescribably beautiful.
Although the highlight of the farm is the picking of the cherries which was an awesome and fun experience for the whole family. The accommodation was okay, not great, and the activities on the farm was zero. The unit was very well prepared and very neat with all the finishes. Well done.
Very neat and everything you need. Always nice to relax on a farm. Thank you it was delicious!
We really enjoyed our stay at Klondyke Cherry Farm. The setting is beautiful, the cottage is cosy and well equipped, and we loved the fireplace and cherry jam. The orchards in bloom is an incredible sight to see.
What a pleasant surprise. It was the most beautiful house, cool under the trees. Very comfortably furnished with more than you need. Had a nice walk around the farm and slept well.
Good location. Allen made sure we were comfortable at all times.
I simply loved the well maintained campsite and it was a beautiful experience to walk around and see all the lovey fruit trees. The owner was very helpful and polite, checking on the guests at night.
We went as a group of 15 people. Some families were camping and others were in the Farmhouse. The campsites are spacious and there are enough electrical points and the ablution facilities are clean and close by. The Farmhouse is huge and has everything you would need for a relaxing weekend away, including lots of heaters. Overall it was a great weekend.
Large house with 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large kitchen, living room, dining room, and outside braai area. Comfortable and well appointed. Wonderfully quiet and safe.
We spent the weekend recharging our batteries. Taking walks around the farm. A great place to photograph nature.
We could walk through orchards and enjoy farm life! What was not nice: there was only 1 plastic bowl. Would have liked more for chips, salad etc. The glass bowls were used for other foods. Some of the baking sheets and plates were so dirty that we had to wash them before use. I put the 1 bowl back just like that. The toilet bowl had a plastic bag, but underneath it was previous people's rubbish. The outdoor chairs were so sticky you couldn't sit on them, probably from the tree's glue. But, despite the small negative things, we had a very nice stay. Yes, there is a small fridge. I couldn't get my meat in for 3 days. They should mention it at the Duck Pond page.
Very friendly reception. Duckpond Cottage has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We could walk around the farm among the beautiful apple, pear and cherry orchards. The farm has a very nice view of the Matroosberge. I can recommend Klondyke Cherry Farm for a lovely getaway to a peaceful setting, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Nice to get away from Cape Town and relax. The farm House is enormous! Had a great time.
We stayed in the Duckpond house. Perfect for 2 people and our 2 dogs.
It was a bit of a stress to get the booking sorted out. Once we got there it was absolutely relaxing, exactly what we needed. The little kids were a bit bored. But it was good.
A friend and I with our small children slept over. It was terribly hot. The cottage is perfectly equipped for the cooler days but there are no fans for the terribly hot days. One of the kiddies also doesn't like showers at all, so maybe mention that there is no bath. We also struggled terribly with the wood they provide to make a fire. It was terribly wet. Although I understand that it is mostly out of your control what wood is delivered when you order - if you are aware that it is wet wood it would have been great if we had known in advance. I would certainly have found dry wood or charcoal in town.
Duckpond cottage is located in a beautiful setting against a pond where birds frolic. However, it stops the moment you enter the cottage, as specifically the bathroom had to be upgraded years ago. It is really extremely uncomfortable and there is literally only a teal or two before the shower starts. So from the toilet you literally fall into the shower. The shower curtain was very dirty. The bathroom has no door, only a curtain and the sink is outside the curtain inside the room. There is no place in the bathroom part to hang towels or clothes. No place for towels at the sink either. The kitchen has super old linoleum that is extremely neglected and untidy. The living room part has a comfortable sofa to sit on but the carpet is dirty. I really feel that the owners should seriously consider the comfort of their guests against the rates they charge and that the entire cottage should have been upgraded a long time ago. It was cold and there were no blankets in the cottage but there were electric blankets on the bed, small olive oil heater and the fireplace in the living area. No WiFi or cell phone reception unless one walks back to reception and sits or stands there so that urgent messages can be received or sent. The problem can be solved by placing a router in each cottage that captures WiFi. Again here serious upgrading is needed. We all want to get away from noise but one has to be able to be available to children and family to some extent and that adds stress.
We are making this a yearly experience to get away from everything and relax. The cherry picking is a must to do.
Will definitely go there again to relax over a longer period of time.
We couldn't ask for a better getaway. The most beautiful views, friendly service and definitely a place we will go again.
For our purpose, the stay with friendly reception of our 2 dogs was a good experience.
Safe and peaceful. You won't get closer to nature easily. Neat and clean.
The bedrooms are large and so are the spaces. There is no mobile phone reception, so it's ideal to get everyone away from screens. Kitchen is well equipped. Short walk to cherry orchards. Aim for early/mid Dec to pick. In winter you have a chance to see snow. The house has lots of wall heaters, oil heaters and fireplaces for cold weather. Decor is retro, feels like real old farmhouse. Bring walking shoes, books and games. We had no problem with safety and left the doors open during the day, but at picking time it's just a roar of people a few hundred meters away, so the usual caution may apply. Pet friendly but not fenced.
Just the place if you're looking to get away from it all. So peaceful and lovely walks to go on.
Our accommodation was upgraded and made home in The Cherry Cottage. Everything was perfect with a fully equipped kitchen. Heaters in rooms were even turned on ahead of time to drive away the worst of the cold. Anti-theft and security gate was a big plus. Cottage was spotlessly clean and immediately gave you the feeling of comfort.
Wonderful place to shut yourself off and rest. Cherry picking and eating has become an annual institution for us. Pet friendly and ideal, worry free location.
The cottage was now really old-fashioned with clean facilities. The pet-friendly features have made this place especially enjoyable for us.
A well situated and kept place, perfect for two people. We had an amazing stay with plenty of walks and a lot to do in the Ceres valley. We spent three nights and could easily have stayed a bit longer. Highly recommended.
We stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my husbands 50th and visit the Cold/Warm Bokkeveld/Karoo/Boland area. The Duckpond Cottage is situated by a duck pond overlooking the beautiful Matroosberge (we missed the expected snow by two days). The cottage is perfectly furnished with basically everything that makes it extremely comfortable for two people. During our stay it was very very cold in the area and everything that had to provide heat worked and made the two-room apartment deliciously cozy. Was able to have a great chat and ate the most delicious cherry jam on fresh white bread during breakfast and had a great time without GSM signal (WiFi is available at the farm homestead, about 80 meters away).
We had a great stay in The Cherry Cottage. It has everything you need and is well equipped for the cold - warm blankets, heaters and a fireplace. Unfortunately we didn't see any snow, but it's the perfect place to sleep over if you want to be close to the Matroosberge. The farm has beautiful scenery and walking paths. Except at reception or on the cups there is no mobile phone signal at all - perfect if you need a little digital detox! Best of all, they are dog friendly! A bonus is if you go in the summer you can pick your own cherries too!
Very relaxing and peaceful.
Everything beautiful, clean and neat.
Have a nice stay and enjoy the silence. No WiFi at home. Perfect.
Lovely big house. Everything has been thought of. Very warm friendly welcome. Great place!
We really enjoyed our time on Klondyke. The Duckpond Cottages are well appointed with everything you could possibly need on your weekend away, from kitchen and barbecue equipment to air heaters and extra blankets. The Cottage was clean and cozy and the farm is beautiful, lovely for a walk between the fields and pine trees, with a silence that you find just outside the city. However, be prepared that there is no cell phone signal - in our case we welcomed it - but just a few steps further you will find signal at the main house, if needed. We definitely keep Klondyke on our favorites list for a weekend getaway.
Wow, this beautiful location exceeded my expectations. Beyond beautiful! One thing, if you do go around autumn/winter pack warm! But I’m sure it will blow your mind away just as it did myself and my partner.
Was just as pleasant as we remembered, even though there was no snow or cherries. Can recommend anytime. Our Pekenes were just as at home. They were free to explore the world.
Klondyke is centrally located near tourist attractions. Close to Ceres and Touwsrivier for a drive in nature.
Lekker plek om weg te kom van social media en met vrinne te kuier.
On two previous visits we were just the two of us and stayed in Duck Pond (accommodation for 2). This time we invited our son and daughter-in-law along and therefore stayed in Cherry Cottage (accommodation for 4). Just as well appointed! However, Duck Pond is quieter and away from all the hustle and bustle of people coming to pick cherries.
Our stay coincided with the cherry, apple and pear blossom time. Amazing vistas across the orchards towards the Matroosberg. The unit was well furnished with all required creature comforts.
Beautiful world. Fresh air and tranquility. Toilet facilities are a bit scary and in need of renovation. Too few toilets and showers.
I would definitely come back, accommodation was clean, management friendly.
The owners really make an effort to ensure we are comfortable and warm. Indoor fireplace, heater in room, winter duvet and plenty of blankets. In the silence around us we could hear an owl and the ducks on the pond in front of Duckpond. Have a great time and relax.
With no cellphone reception and no TV, this place really brings you back to earth. I'm not a big fan of the cold weather, and it's very cold here! But I still enjoyed it - the heater, fireplace and electric blanket make you forget about the cold outside. My husband and I will definitely return for a weekend, we had a lovely rest!
See stars.
With no catch, this is the place to switch off and clear your head. Beautiful surroundings and nice and tidy, cozy house. Reception very friendly and helpful. Friendly host.
What an absolute pleasure to be able to stay there for a weekend! My husband and I stayed in the Duckpond Cottage, it was equipped with everything you need. Very tidy and Allan the owner is very friendly! I can definitely recommend Klondyke Farm if you are looking for a place to rest and "recharge". What an absolute privilege to wake up to no sound but the chirping of birds and to sit outside at night and listen to the evening sounds. The croaking of frogs and the sound of geese urinating in the water. The farm is not far outside of Ceres, so we didn't need to drive long distances to make purchases. Klondyke Farm will definitely see me again!
Duck Pond cottage very cute but shower and toilet setup very impractical.
I don't know if I misread, but s a warning that there is no cellphone reception would be nice. It wouldn't have stopped me from coming, but then I would've given Klondyke's number for my parents in case of emergency. (They looked after the kids.) Thank you for a nice, quiet weekend. It was just what we needed.
My wife and I only stayed at Klondyke Cherry Farm briefly when we needed a place to sleep in the Ceres area. The farm is about 35 km outside of Ceres, but the drive is a pleasant road winding up the hills. Unfortunately we didn't see much of the farm, but the blossoms on the cherry trees were beautiful. The Duckpond Cottage we slept in was simple but cosy. We had too much fun sitting and doing computer work in front of the fireplace.
