Kloofzicht Estate Country House is situated outside of Tulbagh, in the picturesque winelands area of the Western Cape. Kloofzicht Estate is the first wine estate as you approach the valley from the Nuwekloof pass, and is approximately 4 km outside of the Tulbagh Village.
The property offers 3 beautifully appointed units, The Country House, The Loft and Harry's Lakeside Cottage, that each accommodate 8-12 guests.
The double-storey, thatched The FarmHouse can accommodate 8 to 12 people. The first bedroom has a queen size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath. The second bedroom has a double bed, single sleeper couch, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The third bedroom has a king bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower and a bath. The fourth bedroom has a double bed, single sleeper couch, and en-suite bathroom with a bath. The fifth bedroom has 2 single beds.
The farmhouse kitchen is equipped for self-catering and has a huge fireplace, marble-topped cupboards, a dishwasher, and a double-sized oven. It leads onto the terraced entertainment area with a 14-seater table and braai, a 14m swimming pool and a wood-fired hot tub, all only a few meters away from the dam which is excellent for Bass fishing in Tulbagh and safe for swimming and rowing. This area is ideal for small weddings, parties and events.
The Loft sleeps 6 to 9 guests. The first bedroom has a king-sized bed and 2 single sleeper couches. The second room has a double bed. The first and second bedrooms share a bathroom with a shower. This was the second time staying at Kloofzicht Estate Country House. The accommodation is beautiful and the hosts are accommodating. Definitely will be back for a third time!
Cottages need maintenance. Towels are patched, bedding has holes and the place needs painting. We had to find quick accommodation within 10 minutes, was any accommodation available. Will not stay there again.
Lovely walk-in kitchen with a large hearth braai. Each couple has its own bathroom so there is enough privacy. Stunning garden and trees for photos. Although it rained and leaked they tried their best and treated us deliciously with scones on the house to make up for the inconvenience.
The place is beautiful. Close enough to Tulbagh that you can quickly go buy something short but far enough that you can feel the tranquility of the farm atmosphere.
Our stay at Kloofzicht was a treat for the soul. The facilities are excellent and the service of the staff unbeatable. Especially Miela and Ula were stars and we feasted on the delicious meals we could help. I can't wait to visit Kloofzicht again!
Kloofzicht offered exactly what we hoped for. We had 8 teenagers in the rain for 2 days, but with enough space, a lovely kitchen, fireplace and beautiful surroundings, we were not frustrated at all! The beds are comfortable, with lovely bedding. Always hot water, and plenty of it. The top shower doesn't have very good pressure, and we all just used the bottom shower. It is a beautiful farm, and a beautiful house. Although there were still guests staying near us, you don't feel at all as if there are still people. Private enough.
The unit is beautiful, our kids enjoyed it. Would go again.
Friendly reception, the little place is neat and the area is stunning. Thanks for all the water and milk in the fridge. The only issue was a radio or something to help you keep in touch with the outside world.
Atmosphere was wonderful. Felt like home away from home.
Would only recommend giving dry wood with real firelighters. First night was cold and no fire could be made.
Kloofzicht is a lovely house! Rasta and Miena were very lovely and helpful. We had a little trouble buying good wood in town. Perhaps the price may include an extra load of wood.
Overall it was a very good experience. Tsitsi, the lady who welcomed us is a very good asset. Extremely friendly and very helpful. Two things that did bother me were the fact that there was no microwave oven in the units. Furthermore, I suggest that you turn on the fridges earlier and not an hour before the guests check in. It took all night for the ice to freeze as well as the fridge to get cold. Finally, a request to possibly watch the rugby in the afternoon (no TVs in units) was met with a "You may only watch in the kitchen". We were a bit caught off guard with the option and didn't make use of it.
There is no microwave in the cottages! Although the scenery is breathtaking, the evenings are lonely without a TV or radio. Even a variety of games would have helped. However, there is absolutely nothing missing! Everything in abundance! Bed linen spotless. Humphrey, the Great Dane, is a delight and Tsitsie is an asset to the guest house. Friendly and helpful. Negative: the fact that the fridges were only switched on shortly before our arrival. It was bloody hot and ice would be appreciated.
