36 guests' feedbackMy family and I had a lovely stay. On the last day, my kids were sad that we were leaving. We stayed for 3 days. We were welcomed with warmth. If you want to get away from the city life, to cool off, this is definitely the place.
It is a nice place very close to the river with fresh air. We enjoyed the nice views, closer to Kruger Crocodile Bridge and Lebombo Border Gate. Marloth Park is also close; we went for swimming and other activities.
I have to start by saying the photos used on this ad do not do the place justice. It is much more and much more beautiful. We visited the River House as a family. Two teenagers and one five year old. There was more than enough room for everyone and a large patio. When the sun sets over the Komatie River, the horizon is ablaze with a splendor of colour. Yes, there are dogs on the farm and they come to say hello when you are outside, but they are not aggressive. If they bother, then you just tell them to go home. We even caught tiger fish from the shore, but keep your eyes open for the crocodiles. NKP's Crocodile Bridge is very close for a day's wildlife viewing.
It was very nice and peaceful. Very nice looking at the river.
When we arrived there was no one to greet us and the keys were left under the carpet, the first problem was the bin in front of the entrance was full of rubbish and not cleaned. The house is on a part of a farm and there was no warning about the dogs, and they were a lot of trouble and looking for food. There is also no backup gas stove and water supply as well as lights during load shedding. The one aircon doesn't work, and both are full of dust. The bathrooms could do with a proper cleaning. Not all the doors could lock, and had to sleep with the doors open. Owner said she would give me a refund but still waiting. Booked for 2 nights but only stayed the one night.
Nicest resting place, beautiful green and right by the river. More beautiful than photos.
Lovely visit on the large "deck" with river view and wonderful tree shade and refreshing draft of air.
Will be back in the future.
The loadshedding was regular and like clock work and the house is not really well equipped for that, no gas as an alternative cooking source and only one battery light source but we managed. We understand that one cannot rule out loadshedding but just be prepared as the house is not set up for it. On booking and looking at the pics it indicated that the braai facility was upstairs on the deck which is not the case. The house is on a part of a farm and there was no warning about the dogs in the advert. We are used to dogs but the one was a little boisterous and playful and did bruise my little daughters arm but once they got used to us and we them they were not really a problem other than ripping open the dustbin and black bag, Erica was very helpful in getting that sorted and the bin cleared and emptied. Maybe just a prior warning to guest to expect farm dogs to visit you during your stay and as the braai facility is downstairs on the grass area the dogs constantly visit, it was not a problem but just in general a warning to guest to expect them. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and was exactly what we needed.
The view is amazing, we did not sit in the house even at night, we sat on the balcony every morning and evening having breakfast, devotion and our supper. You can behold that river from the house without getting bored or tired. It is really a beautiful place to behold. So much fresh air and oxygen and a beautiful breeze each morning and evening.
Beautiful place with an amazing view. Everything was well organized, we planning to go again soon.
Quiet, scenic.
The fishing was nice.
We will definitely use the house again. For sure value for money, convenience.
Only suggestion is that they need to insure when power goes off a back up gas stove and water supply as this is not available when the power goes off. Some alternate light as well.
See stars.
Most wonderful experience. Neat, clean and beautiful. Everyone's needs are catered for. The best place to recharge your life battery. The veranda was our favorite to experience the sunrise and sunset. Erika, thank you for allowing us to rent your beautiful paradise for a few days. Everything was more than satisfactory. The rafting was great too.
Als was perfect. We have 2 children, 12 and 2 years old and both enjoyed it so much and so did we (mom and dad). It is so beautiful, the nature and the house. The nicest getaway ever! And Erika is wonderful, friendly and helpful. Place and gardens were clean and beautiful. We found the place easily too. Will definitely go again a few times.
What's better than waking up to the sound of manatees in the water. Heavenly relaxation on a wooden deck overlooking the river. Thanks to Erika and Adriaan for the privilege of being able to enjoy the piece of paradise.
The house overlooks the river. We stayed there to catch tiger fish.
We had a wonderful stay. The helper was so kind to give assistance we needed.
It was a very nice trip and everything was perfect. The view and tranquillity are so nice you don't want to go anywhere and just be at the cottage.
Just want to thank Erika and her people at the River House for their good service, the cottage is very nice and comfortable and will definitely return.
Great spot, had a lovely time.
Very peaceful, unfortunately there is road noise throughout the night. The instructions for switching the geyser and the pressure pump on/off contain no indication of where the switches are.
We love the concept of the wooden house on stilts, and its ideal location so close to the Komati River. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the cleanliness of the property, some of the linen was dirty and there was a layer of dust inside, which made it look like it hadn't been cleaned for a while. We were advised that a cleaner was coming in, but we turned her down as we were a day away from leaving. The seats and table on the patio were covered in dust and bird droppings which we had to clean before we could use them. The deck was also full of leaves and bird droppings on the railings etc. The previous people's meat packets were still in the braai below the deck, and there were empty beer bottles left lying around which we had to pick up. We nearly ran out of electricity, and I tried to buy electricity for the prepaid meter, but ended up losing the money because we never received the voucher. The view from the deck is stunning, we enjoyed the bird life and hippo's in the river at night.
Very cute house overlooking the river where you can see manatees and crocodiles and also fish. Very close to the Wildlife Park as well as Komatipoort for a day visit and eating out. We will definitely go back again for a break.
It's a beautiful environment with everything you need nearby. A very nice and tidy house on the bank of the river where you are lucky you can see some manatees. Friendly service and very helpful.
A very nice and peaceful environment and scenery. Perfect location. Too little (hardly any) toilet paper! The owner usually provides it in self-catering accommodation. The water for bathing/ showering was not even lukewarm. Had to boil water and pour into the bath. Was unsure whether the place would be serviced daily, or not. Was unsure whether wood would be provided. Just found out by chance we had to bring our own towels, otherwise we would not have taken towels.
What an experience, it was really beautiful and peaceful and the river view from the bedroom is incredibly gorgeous. I would just like to make a suggestion, if you could perhaps build a ramp to the road it would help a lot. I have a wheelchair and I struggled to get onto the ramp. The toilet is also a bit small, the log under the basin hinders you from getting tot the toilet in a wheelchair.
The place is very cute and is well located.
The cottage is truly a surprise. It is beautiful with air conditioning. The location is also a plus especially with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I will definitely visit the river house again.
We enjoyed the quietness of the place with only my family around. Hippos can be seen in the river at night. It is a good place to enjoy fishing in the river all by yourself. Thge ideal place when you need a relaxing quiet environment away from other people.
House is very beautiful and the environment is very peaceful and river with manatees is incredibly beautiful and a real experience.
The frames of the sliding doors were so skew that 2 of the doors couldn't shut properly. From Saturday night onwards we couldn't use the shower because of poor water pressure. The pressure was so low that the gas geyser didn't even switch on. The owners weren't there and the groundsman could not do anything about the situation.
The cottage is cute and modern. It is perfect for an overnight event as there is NOTHING to do. Maybe just make toilet paper available. Luckily we had extra. Amenities were comfortable and clean.
