Nice to get away and enjoy the quiet, much better than staying in the town itself.
I have not rated it very well because there were things we were not happy about. There was no television and the internet did not work. Flyscreens are necessary on the windows because there were so many insects everywhere. I suggest fans get supplied, preferably ceiling fans. When we arrived there was a dirty plate in the sink and lots of thorns on the floor and carpets. Security is rated rather low because the gate to the property is not even closed at night and the cottage is on a very busy road.
Decor combination of old and new at Kookfontein Farm Cottages is very stylish and makes you feel right at home! Beautiful view over vineyards, spacious rooms, friendly and helpful reception and gift bottle of wine, all contributing factors that we will definitely recommend Kookfontein and that it is indeed value for money!
Took note of the one or two negative reviews and will ignore it as future guests.
Excellent and comfortable country cottage with all amenities, including splash pool, ready to light fire place and a welcome bottle of farm produced Sauvignon blanc.

It was fantastic, spacious, with a vintage farmhouse feel.
We only stayed one night because we were there for a wedding. The electric gate was open the whole time we were there, including through the night (it appeared as if it was broken). Although nothing was stolen from us or we had any trouble, I still feel that the gate is there for a reason, so I did not feel safe that night. Cottage A and B are close together, so you can hear everything that goes on in the room next to you. We literally just slept there, so it wasn't a problem, but I wouldn't have liked it much if we had arranged the stay for a weekend. The cottage itself is very nicely furnished and tidy, close to the town and very close to the wedding venue (Bosduifklip) where we had to be. For our purposes it was perfect!

We had everything we needed yet lived simply. A wonderful reminder of being grateful for what nature provides - they were amidst a drought when we stayed but the beauty never faded. Elizna was very helpful and made really good suggestions. We will definitely be back!
Picture misleading. We thought we'd be sitting on the veranda overlooking the dam in front of us. No water, close to the road so you hear trucks rushing past at night. When the neighbours make a fire our cottage is full of smoke. No ceiling fans in the room, no window to open for fresh air, only the door. No radio or TV. Too expensive for what you get.
We wanted to stay for a week in this lovely place! We really appreciated Theunette's kindness and valuable advice about the area.
I will definitely stay there again, friendly, safe and convenient.
Kookfontein Farm Cottages is the perfect place to get away from it all. No TV and no cell phone signal. The owners are incredibly hospitable and make you feel welcome immediately. Think privacy will only be somewhat of an issue if all 3 units are booked. No wall or partition between units' porches.
Living in the vineyards, great host and impeccable place/cleanliness; Theunette (our host) has a great taste on interiors and has a lovely dog and place. Will definitely recommend for visitors passing Lamberts Bay.
