77 guests' feedbackOur stay was lovely. The accommodation was very comfortable and well maintained. The communication from the hosts prior to arrival was excellent. We had a busy sporting weekend in the area but would love to return to explore the gorgeous farm hikes.
We just stayed overnight after the Comrades Marathon, and the road was quite dark - landmarks like a restaurant and farmhouses were not really visible, but we stopped right at the cottage. The beds were lovely, and everything we needed was there, including the gas heaters to keep the chill away. Many thanks for the extras like the eggs and butter, the shower gel for the guy who forgot his soap at the previous accommodation, and the breathtaking view the next morning!
The most beautiful location I have ever stayed at. I would definitely go back and stay more than just one night next time. The view we had was stunning the cottage was perfect for a family of 4.
Lovely area to stay in. Hosts were responsive and helpful when needed.
We had a wonderful stay in the studio. There is a nice place to walk and the view is beautiful!
We had a lovely, relaxing stay and the area was very convenient for visiting the Midlands Meander.
Gallery Cottage is comfortable enough with all you need for a night or 2 (we were there for a wedding). The lounge area is not super comfy if you were staying for a few days. Breakfast provisions are a bonus. The host is responsive and helpful. Thank you.
We had such a lovely tranquil stay! The loft was fully equipped, and we loved spending the weekend at Kusane Farm Cottages. Maybe just a bigger dustbin in the kitchen, but other than that, it was a lovely stay overall. We loved how quiet it was and beautiful.
Nice stay, but that dirt road will destroy any vehicle. Very weak. The (braai facilities) cannot be called braai facilities. It's loin of lamb.
Very poor road. Bikes shake and get dirty.
We had a very nice stay. The porch is nicely sheltered. The unit has everything one needs for an overnight stay. The road is a bit bad, but quite drivable with an ordinary car. If you walk a little, the view is beautiful.
We enjoyed our night away, and it was special that the hosts left food items for breakfast.
Death safe. No need to even lock doors. Received farm fresh eggs and butter with yogurt and bread, nice treat that was included.
Really enjoyed Anthony and the farm environment and will stay there again.
Very relaxing place.
Peaceful and functional stay at the loft, both entrances very slippery when wet. Solar geyser noisy at times.
Value for money. In nature with a nice view.
The location is beautiful, the people friendly and they go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Everything you need is in the apartment.
The scenery is beautiful. Views very nice and wide. Short of a new braai and TV guide in room to explain how the TV works.
We cannot speak for the other cottages. We lived in the gallery for two nights for two people. The place is pretty clean. Lovely shower and dressing room. Very nice two single beds pushed together. Mattresses and pillows sleep very well. The big problem with this cottage is the microwave is on top of the fridge, the oven is on top of the microwave. The kettle and grill must be placed on top of the oven if it is to be used. If you want to use two pots on the oven you have to remove the grill and kettle and make sure you don't plug the fridge or microwave etc. There is no place to put the things that are collected. The sink can take one plate and a cup then it is full. So there is no place to pack your dishes. There are no trash cans outside, just a small bathroom trash can. I feel there should be a photo of the gallery's outside area placed on their photos as well. Thank you for the breakfast goodies provided, they are really very cute. Make sure you don't drive an ordinary car if you're going to visit Kusane. Michael was very helpful with charcoal, matches and wood when we got there. Despite the above, we went out and sat and enjoyed the beautiful view.
Unfortunately the farm cottage was very ill kept. There is a lot of damp and in the one room and I had to push the bed over to avoid ceiling debris from a terrible damp patch falling onto the bed. The windows were very dusty and dirty and the cupboards in the one room had bedding haphazardly shoved in to it so that the cupboard wouldn't close. It stormed on night 2 and the lights went out - we couldn't light candles as the tin with matches was empty bar a few matches rolling around without the box to strike them on. The grounds were very unkempt and the bush so overgrown we couldn't appreciate the view which according to the website should be quite spectacular. Many of the statues in the garden are also broken. The owner, William, did on night 1 sort out our query about no hot water. And the morning after the storm, on request, he brought us matches. He then took it upon himself to run a cable to us from the main house (which had a generator) so we could at least boil the kettle and run the fan for which we were very grateful for. With an 86 year old mom and 2 young kids it was unfortunately not the weekend we had hoped for. Would not recommend it in the state it is currently in. Some much needed maintenance, paint, a deep clean and a good grass and bush cutting would transform it. So much potential.
The Weaver cottage offers everything one needs for an overnight stay or weekend destination. The eggs, butter, milk, juice, nut coffee and bread made for a lovely breakfast. We would love to stay there again!
The dirt road to the cottage is not bad to drive on. The cottage has everything you need to cook food, sleep and enjoy your stay. The views are amazing. A place to stay just to relax and unwind.
We really enjoyed it and will probably stay there again. Nice spacious, clean, well equipped place to stay. The access road is very bumpy (a low car will struggle) and the cottages should be more clearly marked - we had trouble locating the right cottages.
Unfortunately it was pouring with rain the whole time we were there, which was a shame because we went there to mountain bike. The owners were very decent and let us go a day early with no charge. I would love to come back to see the views across the valley. The cottage has lots of character, with lovely art work and unusual furniture. Huge bathroom. Tiny kitchenette. The owners are very generous and left lots of lovely goodies in the fridge.
Would suggest that they maybe install a mirror in the rooms, bit difficult with only the mirror in the bathroom. The arrival and departure was a bit impersonal, no one showed us where our room was on arrival or came to greet us on departure. Everything else was very nice, thank you very much.
Accommodation is well equipped and the breakfast ingredients were a lovely surprise. Fresh eggs, yoghurt, muesli, bread and fruit juice. We would love to stay longer next time.
Check out the braai facilities.
We had a great time staying in the spacious cottage. Will stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay at Kusane Farm Cottages. The house is clean, tidy and the living area is nice and spacious. The house has an incredibly beautiful view and the surroundings' silence and natural beauty give you peace of mind. Will definitely recommend them and will definitely stay there again.
View was spectacular, pity it was very misty for most of our stay. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful view of the gorge. Incredibly quiet and private. Would easily stay there more than one night.
Beautiful setting and exceeded expectations. Accommodation facilities were good and breakfast was provided, which we did not expect. Hostess was also very friendly and helpful.
The decor in the studio is modern and colourful. However, the layout of the place needs consideration with attention to the placement of the lighting, mirror etc. The area has limited cell phone reception and the WiFi password was not readily available. Since we were traveling on business, this was an inconvenience.
Beds were comfortable place was tidy.
We enjoyed a stunning breakfast with breathtaking views after a comfortable sleep. Thank you, Karen, for all your communication. Thousand times worth the effort of driving there.
Will definitely come again. Clean safe beautiful and perfect so thank you very much.
Our place was great to stay in and met all our needs. The access route is just not too pleasant, especially if you do not have a 4X4, but it was not too bad. We were pleasantly surprised that they provided breakfast in our unit.
On our arrival there was no one to receive us. The ground staff went to show us where the cottage was, and unlocked it for us. We were there for 2 nights, and no one came to follow up if everything was okay. The place is perhaps ideal for someone who just wants to sleep over for one night. Far from everything. The dirt road is very bad. We visited many beautiful places that were interesting and made the visit worthwhile.
It is a nicely equipped residential unit. There was no extra equipment against the cold. The no curtains in front of the sliding door was also not very pleasant. The eggs and other food supplies were very tasty.
Beautiful place, more than expected! Kitchen well equipped to simply unpack and relax at the cottage!
Ideal place for a getaway. Only problem was that with the hard rain it leaked a lot in the kitchen, through the roof in the corner.
Kusane Farm Cottages was baie stil en rustig. Baie dankie Karen.
We stayed in Gallery Cottage. It is a beautiful place to stay and very well equipped. We were very impressed with the bread, milk, muesli, yogurt, butter and jam that was placed in the fridge for us! It made us feel very welcome, thank you! We can definitely recommend the place to stay! We would recommend that you mention that travelers only follow the directions that appear on LekkeSlaap. Google Maps' directions don't work properly at all!
Our 2nd time staying here. Very hospitable, quiet and very tidy. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes the tranquility of nature.
Thank you Karen for the upgrade and all the goodies you left for us. I have never before stay in accommodation where yogurt, muesli, rusks, eggs, bread, spreads etc was provided and that filter coffee was so nice after our long drive. Will definitely be back.
Clean, excellent service, thanks for all the groceries, fresh and delicious refreshments.
See stars.
Very clean and tidy. We were received very kindly and had such a nice stay. Beautiful and peaceful surroundings. Would recommend the place for sure.
The directions to the place did not exist, had to look for it on other websites. Please check your information and directions.
Had a lovely Easter weekend. Stayed in the studio apartment, had no stove, only a microwave and a plate stove on top of fridge, so the owner moved us to the next apartment next to us as it had a stove and was a lovely there. The decor on both apartments was amazing.
Full easy directions to accommodation were given. Units were neatly and comfortably furnished, breakfast (which includes variety) was provided. Will definitely return.
Kusane is beautifully located between the mountains, with very reasonable prices, would only recommend that a daily cleaning service is offered, thank you very much.
Directions to farm were a bit unclear and not very visible.
No curtains, dirty equipment and mouldy walls and ceiling. Uncomfortable beds. Farm, not dirt road. Very uncomfortable for my daughter who was 39 weeks pregnant.
We had a one night stay, that would have been nicer if it was longer, lovely quiet, beautiful views of the area and the Koi dam was a nice experience to behold. Interesting art,and statues.Friendly and helpful hosts. The breakfast was a nice surprise, yogurt, and muesli with fruit. There was coffee with nice rusks. The only thing that was not as advertised was 2 single beds instead of a double bed. The road was a typical farm road fine for most cars if not to low. Overall an enjoyable experience.
We arrived to a beautiful venue with spacious rooms and beautiful views. Real value for money and will definitely recommend this place to all our friends and family.
Beautiful place with the most beautiful nature. Room was tidy and convenient. Will definitely visit Kusane again.
A suggestion: please have them make the signage bigger by the turn-off on the dirt road.
What a lovely cottage and not to mention the view! On arrival, the fridge had some juice, milk, butter, jam, eggs, yogurt and rusks, everything you need for breakfast. And two day's later Karen's husband brought us some more milk and juice. We had the most relaxing stay, with an excellent view. We also saw 2 duikers, only a few meters away from the cottage. We will definitely come and visit again. Thanks Karen and hubby for the warm welcome!
Can highly recommend Kusane, quiet environment with a beautiful view and spacious bosses neat stay.
Place is well-equipped, clean and neat. Owners were very friendly and very helpful.
The hostess was very friendly and helpful and the place was very neat and clean. The only complaint was that the directions were not very good and that pillows are a bit far from everything. Other than that there are no complaints. I can really recommend it!
The apartment we had was very spacious! The apartment is very clean and tidy! Had a problem with the water heater, but the owner came to fix it immediately. The view is to dream of! Breakfast was well provided for the first morning and it was very nice and a welcome surprise! The only negative is the long dirt road to the farm, but shouldn't be a problem for most people! Do suggest that the sign be enlarged at the turn off to the farm road so that it can be seen more easily, especially in rain and fog!
Kusane is well located and easy to reach with any vehicle. The residences are well equipped and have all the necessary facilities for a peaceful stay. The Farm Cottage's views over the valleys are breathtaking. Kusane is close to the Midlands Meander routes and therefore offers a good opportunity to explore the Meander. The owners, Karen and William, were very nice and helpful. Thank you very much for a nice week!
Thank you very much! It was clean, tidy and very well furnished. Everything we needed was there. Many thanks also for the breakfast goodies that were provided, it was more than welcome. Beautiful, peaceful surroundings and the most beautiful view. Will definitely visit again and recommend it to other people.
We recommend Kusane Farm Cottage, very peaceful and well located, just a pity about the road which is very bad after the turn off, cars should only drive slowly and carefully, vans and 4x4's will take the road better.
2 Units surround a lovely small art gallery. We were not able to enter though as we never met the owners at all. We would've preferred the living area a little bigger; even one extra chair, as we basically stayed indoors at night time and were a group of 5. Stuff was provided for the first morning's breakfast, thanks (though we took our own mostly). The units and furniture were very interesting with quite a few original paintings. Showers were nice and hot and bedding just perfect. It needs a good clean though - especially as far as the kitchen and cutlery is concerned. Wish someone would do the dishes in the morning or at least take the dustbin out. Do make sure your car is not as low as ours. We actually damaged it quite a bit just outside our house on the rough road. Directions are not clear; no board outside the farm. This would be perfect if you plan on not leaving but staying there for a day or 2.
Stunning decor and gardens. Was spoiled with something extra in the fridge!
After my initial blunder that we arrived a day late and with a sick little girl, the owners were kind enough to refund us 50% for even my mistake and a home pharmacy was opened for our speedy recovery little girl. Everything was well equipped and the atmosphere of our unit was elegantly laid out and we felt right at home after a long day on the road. There were enough provisions in the demand box and a delicious fruit juice to enjoy on the stoep. I had to test the windows with the swinging shutters and wooden window frames that pop up and the cool air from the valley that could just flow in. The unit was surrounded by art and nature knowing that within 8 years the unit had been developed from a burned down farmstead to a loop court for the useless Gautenger William and his wife Caren have new life not only in us but also in the deadness of the foundations blown. We will go again this time I won't get my dates mixed up again.
Bunker cottage (the one in the photo) is the one to go for. The view is amazing, as is the size and quality of rooms and facilities. Plenty of walk options ,pet-friendly, breakfast included, friendly and efficient staff, 10 minute drive to Howick and the Midlands Meander.
Hosts very helpful and accommodating. lovely views and comfortable stay.
