Accommodation is provided in a solar-powered, self-catering cottage called Kyknet. The cottage comprises 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms each contain a double bed. The third bedroom contains 2 bunk beds.
The living area is open-plan and the kitchen contains a fridge-freezer, a microwave, a gas stove, an oven, crockery, and cutlery. The living area has a comfortable couch and a dining area with a built-in braai. The living area leads out onto a verandah with an outdoor table with benches and a fire pit with seating. The cottage offers a 360-degree view of the mountains and vast Karoo landscape.
The game commonly spotted on the reserve includes eland, kudu, bontebok, oryx, springbuck, white-tailed gnu, red hartebeest, Cape mountain zebra, giraffe, mountain reedbuck, grey rhebok and duiker. The reserve also hosts natural predators like the leopard, caracal and jackal, supported by the black eagle, owl and falcon.
Due to the Reserve’s topographic, geological and climatic diversity, 3 of the globally recognised Biodiversity hotspots namely, the Cape Floral Region, semi-arid succulent Karoo and subtropical thicket can be identified here. This sub-region has the world’s richest concentration of succulent plants, the dwarf shrub with its succulent leaves being predominant. Honeybush tea and a variety of proteas, erica and gladioli are some of the species of flora to be found naturally in the mountains.

11 guests' feedbackBeautiful location, will be back.
A great central location for families in the Western Cape to meet, close to small towns if you need some entertainment, wine farms in the area, brandy tasting just down the drag. Wake up to the Giraffes and Wildebeest. Hiking/running trails, 4x4 and MTB riding.
Had a great time. Cute reserve. Saw beautiful animals.
The giraffes were an experience. Hanging out by the fire until late at night and looking at the multitude of stars on my back was soul-enriching.
We couldn't ask for a better place to ring in the new year. The cottage is spacious and private, well equipped and located in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery in South Africa. Nothing better than cooling off in the farm pond after a lovely walk in the reserve, lighting a fire and sitting under the stars. Thank you hostess Ann. It was our first but definitely not our last visit.
Would like to see that the braai tools are in better condition and that wood is also left.
View from patio was wonderful - very special to have giraffe ambling past whilst having breakfast.
Friendly reception. Fantastic visit - would go again!
It was refreshing for body, soul and spirit.
Delightfully private with only mountains and animals in sight. Great getaway from busy city life.
Was very nice and we will visit Kyknet again.

House rules
Hairdryers are strictly forbidden due to the amount of energy it uses which can cause damage to the invertors. The game, although appearing calm and collected, are still wild animals and therefore they should not be approached.
Only drive on the road demarcated on the map and stick to the speed limit of 40 km/h.
Please note that we have wood available at R50 per bag, the stock might be limited, so it’s always good to book beforehand.
Please note that there is a gravel road leading to the establishment. Guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
