Have fun. Will stay there again if I'm in the area.
We enjoyed the complimentary boat ride and our stay. Only negatives we had was our dinner was rushed, there were no sugar-free soft drinks, no sparkling or soda water and also only one bottle of white wine to choose from. Our bed linen had small tears in it, but was clean. The lawn could also have been cut and made the place a little more kept. Other than that we loved our stay and would still recommend the venue to others.
Great views, excellent service, friendly staff.
Same menu for 3 days, no phones in the rooms, they served us expired yogurt, did not receive champagne as per our request. The service was not good as we have paid a lot of money.
See stars.
Staff could not meet our needs, no air-conditioning, mosquitoes nearly killed us.
La Dolce Vita's staff are friendly and neat, and the premises is clean and lain out. Lovely view of the dam and a safe area.
For a 4 star guest house it is not up to standard, breakware is chipped. Balcony of room was full of cigarette ash and was never cleaned in the 3 days we were there. All the TV channels were not tuned. Breakfast was the same all 3 mornings. Three-course meal in the evening did not take place. On Sunday we got leftover food from Saturday night and Sunday afternoon on the boat. Dessert with just ice cream is not acceptable for a 4 star guest house.
First of all it was way overpriced for what you get. The food was extremely poor and tasteless. The guest house did not inform us at all that there was going to be a 21st on the floor above us on Saturday night and the boat trip was a total flop. Guests were not warned at all that they had water problems, and did not tell the truth and said that it was the reservoir of the town and then it was always their water tanks that were not maintained. On our first night we could not bathe and had to scoop water from the pool for toilets. And some of the other guests told us that there were massages included in the prices and we didn't get them either. The one night even ice was a problem to serve with our drinks. On the porch where you can eat outside there were no outside lights or at the stairs where you enter the portal and this is a risk as these are stairs that you have to climb down to the front door. For the price we paid we could have even checked into Sun City and stayed in luxury, at least you got what you paid for. Some of the guests who were booked in together even got chewed bone on their dessert plate one night along with her chocolate! We checked out a night earlier due to the poor quality of the place and I know some of the other guests have too.
It was a nice experience.
Wonderful guesthouse, very neat, nice and peaceful. Top class food.
There are no showers (which is a requirement at a 4 star place). The cupboards are by the toilet and they are too small and in awkward spaces. Too few hangers. No mats in the toilet, just ice cold tiled floor. The maintenance is poor. I took pictures of various things in the room that needed fixing. The bed's base and mattress had a hole in it. I complained about it after 1st night. The next day they just put a double bed mattress on the queen-size base. I had to put pillows under the mattress as I was sleeping in a hole. Complained again the 2nd morning, then they just put a board on the base with the double bed mattress! And this while it costs you about R3000/night for a room! We booked 2 rooms. The fantastic boat in the picture is only used for the Sunday ride. A smaller, much less luxurious boat is used for the Saturday. The spa is dirty, white sofas are brown from the dirt, there are oil stains on the carpets. And the same set of dark brown towels is used for several clients and for several days, without being changed. When I asked for clean towels, there weren't even clean towels in the spa! Everything is presented so beautifully on the internet, but it's poor! I will never go there again, and will also advise other people to go there. I think for the price they are asking, they should have immediately put a new bed in the room and also refunded the 1st night's money. I slept extremely uncomfortably for 3 nights.
We had the worst experience ever at La Dolce Vita. I booked a weekend package for me and my husband for our 11th wedding anniversary. The total cost of our stay was R7140 and included breakfast and dinner as well as a boat trip with a 3 course meal on Sunday. I had arranged in advance with the staff at the guest house to make extra efforts with our room as it was a special occasion. There is for us A 15 cm chocolate cake placed in the room at R200 extra and 4 regular red balloons at R100 extra. The cake had no cover left and we had to cut it with a blue butter knife that was set before us. There were no cake plates or forks, we had to eat from coffee saucers and with spoons. This at R200. The next morning the cake was removed from the room, without asking if we still wanted it or not. Upon our arrival in our room, we were told by the guesthouse manager that we had been given the very best room. However, the headboard of the bed was in a disgusting state. The ladder is down where previous guests' heads have rested and trying to fix it with normal paint! The sheet as well as the duvet cover had purple and brown stains on them. The drinks are incredibly expensive, passion fruit and lemonade at R36! The next day when we got back into our room the bed was made like a five year old, and the floor was cleaned. The same dirty stained towels from the day before were back hanging in the bathroom. When we inquired about this the same lady at reception brought new bed linen and towels which she had to change herself. It was also stained. Her answer was that the owners refuse to buy new ones. We also did not get fresh milk or water in our room on Saturday or Sunday morning. The glass cup from which the fruit juice was served at breakfast was broken, as was the milk cup. The overall condition of the guest house is disgusting, from the broken stairs and walls to the dirty furniture and linen. In Aug 2016, a previous guest wrote a review about the dirty carpets and dirty couches, and the feedback was that it was cleaned. It's a month later that we were there and this is not the case at all! It's a shame! I have several photos that I would very much like to publish so that other people never have to suffer the same blow as us. The so-called SPA consists of two beds behind transparent curtains. There is no privacy as we walk right past the spa to our room. I canceled the neck and back massage I booked for us at R760. According to the staff, they are not authorized to refund money and so I have to wait for the owner to contact me regarding this. It's now a week later and I still haven't heard a word from them. During our stay, my husband contacted the owner and also sent a text message to which they have not responded until now. The staff who work there say they never get hold of the owners and they are not allowed to make any decisions themselves. The same person who receives and checks in guests must also serve all the tables and also take and serve drink orders. It's also the same person who has to clean the rooms! So there is not enough staff at all. Those who currently work there have also all already submitted their resignations due to the large amount of complaints that are submitted, but nothing is done about them. They have a certificate of tourism grading for a four star guest house which is valid until March 2017 which means they must have had their inspection very recently. However, there are very few of the four star specifications that they meet. It's anything but a great place! To top it all off, there was something that looked like hair in my husband's breakfast on Sunday. We informed the manager about it. The boat trip on Sunday only caters for a small group of people's musical taste. The boat can 200 accommodates guests at a time and is not at all suitable for a romantic couple or someone with a quiet Sunday in mind. We did see the owner on Sunday, but we were not aware that it was him as he did not even introduce himself to us. He was only at the guest house for 5 minutes. I want to make it very clear that I am not going to leave this matter here. The total amount I had to pay was R8200, for a four star guest house that does not even meet the necessary requirements.
It was quality time with my husband. Thank you very much for the hospitality and kindness. We enjoyed it very much.
We spent a wonderful weekend with you and it was an experience that would last us a lifetime. The room was beautifully set, the food was very tastefully prepared and the staff was very professional, friendly and accommodating. This is an experience well worth sharing and repeating in the near future!
I sent pictures from the photos on the website and requested that the rooms be made up exactly like this. It was also promised that things would be included in our unit such as the sparkling wine and the picnic. I followed up regularly to see if everything would be as we asked and it was promised that things were in order. I apologize if there was a misunderstanding, I just ask that the problem be resolved. The guest house itself was amazing and I would go again any day. The place is beautiful.
On the website, the room looks enticing with sparkling wine, a bunch of flowers, rose petals strewn over the bed, a view of Hartebeespoort Dam, candles and a collection of little things that usually lead to a pleasant atmosphere, especially on your 38th wedding anniversary. We had to ask for the promised flowers and sparkling wine. Also that bedside cabinets' loose tops must be fixed, a small single-door cupboard with too little storage space for two people, the cupboard doesn't even reach the ceiling, and yet the cupboard's roof is open at the top. The handle hangs from one screw (it belongs to another door?). There were no blinds in front of the window at the Jacuzzi. One bedside lamp kept going on and off, the strainer in the shower on the floor was broken in two and the shower was blocked. There was no soap dish in the shower and a "plastic curtain" instead. a nice glass door that would fit in well with a 4 star unit. We asked for a 4 star rating certificate to no avail... Some years' ones do adorn the wall at reception. Air conditioner is a loose unit on the floor with a plastic pipe that discharges hot air to the outside through a hole in the wall. Pipe is glued with plastic which loosens due to heat. It makes a lot of noise and warm air comes back into the room. In addition, the room is right above the kitchen which is very noisy until late. After the second breakfast we did not eat breakfast again. It was tasteless and wrongly served. The ordered fresh coffee was delicious. We filed a complaint with the management the first night and repeated the next morning. At least it led to an apology and a lot of corrections in the room: other bedside tables, flowers, champagne, blinds. whole shower screen and blockage fixed. The rest: Bedside lamp, hanging cupboard still open upstairs, air conditioner not even reported. Neither is a door lock that is inserted backwards. After the corrections, the room gets 40%! On the evening of our anniversary, we were pleasantly surprised with rose petals in the shape of the number "38" unwrapped on our table and a complimentary bottle of table wine of our choice for a better aftertaste! 4 star? Not really...
The most incredible weekend ever!
The pool's "creepy crawly" during the night was a bit disturbing, but otherwise it was "awesome".
More variety in terms of breakfast menu. Room comfortable and massage was out of this world.
The service at the guesthouse was good. Had a restful weekend. Nice food and the host was very nice. The boat meal was also nice, only the atmosphere was too busy. Many people, but surely everyone's right, they paid for it after all. I would just like to experience a romantic, peaceful atmosphere on the boat. But otherwise delicious.
Very quiet and nice visit.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed it a lot. Thank you very much Lekeslaap. Your arrangements were very good after I struggled to get the deposit slip from you.
Relaxing!! Didn't wanted to go home!!
The service and staff were excellent the only complaint that we had were the people who stayed ontop of our room who switched the jacuzzi on and of during the whole night untill two in the morning so we didn't got much sleep
It was a good stay. We had an upgrade to a Honeymoon suite which was a bonus but it was a bit exposed to the pool area and garden. There was also a strange noise throughout the night - the kreepy krawley perhaps?. The boat ride was great, food was good - altogether a very pleasant stay.
The place is stunning & we enjoyed our stay there...
Nicely situated. Very helpful and friendly people. Wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. Will visit for sure again.
