La Montagne Lodge is very beautiful and clean. The guest house is close to the "famous" church. Every half hour the church bell rings. But it is not disturbing at all - it gives a calmness to the town. The breakfast was perfect. Although there was loadshedding, there were still lights in the room and the main house had full power during loadshedding.
We had a wonderful stay, even if it was only one night. Neat, friendly and fully equipped.
We had a great stay, we took over the whole lodge for the weekend. Position is perfect, just a very short walk into town. The host was very attentive and could not have been friendlier. It was an extremely hot weekend, so all air conditioners were on, which did cause the power to trip a few times. Other than that we had a great weekend. Would be amazing if they could add a small pool for this extremely hot weather.

It was a special trip celebrating my partner's 26th birthday. Granted, we both worked a 40-hour work week going into the weekend. Sometimes you think, just lay back and rest up. The town came alive! Anne-Marie, from the moment we walked in, was astonishing. With an in-and-out schedule planned, all ran smoothly. She built trust between guest and host, with smiles and laughter as we became friends. Special mention: She made a cake for my partner's 26th birthday. I asked for something small. She really. positively smashed it out of the park! A true gem. Nowadays, we seek an experience that is professional and close to home. La Montagne is the shining light of Riebeeck-Kasteel. I will recommend and return in future, for many years to come.

The room was not cleaned at all in the three nights we were there even though the description says the rooms are cleaned daily. We had to find clean cups ourselves for tea/coffee in the room. Room darker than in photos.

La Montagne has a clever key box for arrivals when nobody is present and generally a simple and easy arrival and set-up. The bed was really comfortable and we had a lovely and quiet afternoon rest and night's sleep on a Saturday.
It was a quiet night as I was the only person on the premises. The room is beautifully decorated and the porch sofa lovely to lie on and read. I did feel unsafe because there are no burglar bars in front of the windows and I preferred not to open them. I did not have access to the guest house itself and therefore did not have access to a TV or the reading room. Luckily the WiFi in the room made up for that.
The place is close to restaurants and very centrally located. Was nice clean and comfortable. A sliding toilet door will go a long way for privacy.
We had a very nice time at La Montagne. The location is very central and walking distance from the hotel. Unfortunately, they no longer serve breakfast, but there are more than enough restaurants to choose from.

René is incredibly cute, very approachable and goes out of her way to accommodate people. The room contains everything one would need for a quick overnight stay and the bedding is very nice and soft. I will make this simple - get in your car and go there it is fantastic and the venue is great! If you intend to make your own food and not eat in the amazing restaurants the Pick n Pay is not great so take meat or you must go to Riebeeck Wes. But to summarise - the guesthouse was one of the best I have stayed in.
Although I took the cheaper option in the attic/first floor in the main house, it was perfectly adequate, nice and cozy and very stylishly decorated. The old house has a lot of character and is a bit creaky but it adds to her character. The building may need some TLC - plumbing work in the bathroom. Personally, I would suggest WiFi and a TV in the room (there is a small lounge with a TV in it but the two rooms upstairs have to share it). The location is perfect and I didn't use my car all weekend!

Shared kitchen not very convenient. Room nice inside, but main building outside doesn't look like original photo, roof lacks paint.
Would not stay there for more than 1 night. Place is nice and but I don't like the layout of the room. Although I travel alone there is no privacy from shower and toilet. Also a big disappointment is that there is no microwave in the room.

No TV in room, no separate bathroom, I insisted on another room. Room full of ants.
The bathroom facilities provide no privacy. Also must close front door to use. Poor supply of toiletries. Don't want Radox etc. not share with other guests. Two pieces of rusk wrapped in a piece of paper. Definitely will not visit again.
The accommodation was ideal for us who just wanted to sleep over. No breakfast included, but there are sufficient restaurants in the area.
We booked this at the last minute for a good deal and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely accommodation. Both the owner and property manager were welcoming and the town is just the best. This was our second time visiting RK and our first at La Montagna Guesthouse. We will definitely be back and won't stay anywhere else.

The location is ideal for access to town. Note - no breakfasts provided during Covid-19. The accommodation is reasonable, although can't understand a toilet located in the main room. Shower drain was blocked which resulted in water seeping onto the floor. We were able to change rooms, which did result in a better room and separate bathroom. Overall, decent experience, but would not rush back.
Some things that will prevent me from using La Montagne Guesthouse again. Although one needs to get out of the city sometimes, we were disappointed that there was no TV/Radio but only Wi-Fi in the room. No breakfast was included which also was an inconvenience. The lead on the kettle was too short to use it on the shelf and one had to put it on the floor to be able to use it.
We only stayed one night and the place was pretty, will recommend it wholeheartedly.

As a solo traveler you want to feel safe first and welcome second. The guest house is beautiful and nicely equipped. The welcome was friendly and I would stay there again. The breakfast was tasty and it was nice to have breakfast outside on the veranda. Although I didn't feel unsafe, everyone was telling me about burglaries and worse that had happened recently in town. I would like to see someone from the guest house stay on site. It's a bit unsettling to park outside (full inside) and then walk into "empty" house.

Would have liked it if they had turned on the air conditioning before we arrived. The toilet's mechanism was faulty and I had to manually lift it into the bowl each time to make it work.

La Montagne has a central location in one of the most beautiful little villages in SA. The room is spacious and very neat and equipped with aircon. Friendly staff, very competent and helped us with excellent information to be able to experience a lot of the area in a short time. Fantastic venue ideally situated in the heart of Riebeeck Kasteel. La Montagne is not flashy and that's what makes it so exceptional. It's the homeliness and the wonderful people who run it that makes you want to come back for more.
Our garden room was beautiful and modern and had air conditioning. Open bathroom may be an issue for some people. No TV but there are places in town where you can watch sports. Host and staff were very friendly. Delicious, scrumptious breakfast. Only one issue: the gates weren't locked at night. And the rooms aren't very soundproof, you hear everything your neighbours say.

Even though my husband and I were out most of the time, we really enjoyed our time at La Montagne. The staff were friendly, rooms were neat, clean, and the room is equipped with a heater and a warm mattress for the cold evenings. I definitely recommend the pancakes with meusli, fruit and yoghurt for breakfast.
Accommodation was lovely with a delicious breakfast. We used our tea, coffee and milk upon arrival and felt it should have been replenished because there was no milk in the fridge for breakfast in the morning. Apart from that it was very good.

The guesthouse had a good location, was neat and charming. The staff were friendly and helpful and went to a lot of trouble. At the last minute we asked if we could move rooms and they helped us without any issues. We were also allowed to check in earlier. The breakfast was a two course meal, so you don't go hungry! I will definitely recommend La Montagne. The only negative part was the traffic noise was quite noticeable, especially in our room early morning. But we also got used to that pretty quickly.
Our first visit to Riebeeck-Kasteel was one that will truly be remembered. La Montagne will see us again when we pass here.
I missed a bar of soap in the shower and the toilet paper kept rolling off, resulting in a pile on the floor. The people were hospitable and I really appreciated that they were willing to give me breakfast earlier in the morning so that I could be on time for my flight.
We were very warmly received and the rooms were extremely clean and tidy and the air conditioning was on. The breakfast every morning was top notch, almost too much to eat. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone and would stay there again myself.
