We go to La Montagne every year for Easter weekend and usually book with a different booking platform. However, this time we booked with those and it was just a pleasure. I got my sea view and everything went well from start to finish.

It's very nice to be here, friendly atmosphere, children frolic in the pool, nice and quiet, there are shows, you can walk along the sea, everything is within walking distance.

Terribly delicious. For four days there was no aircon, but fans were given. The WiFi signal was very weak.
The resort needs serious maintenance, they were painting while we were there. Service at pool was limited, seemed as if there were not enough waiters on duty to serve the guests. Rooms were neat and comfortable. Communal bathrooms not clean for use.

No closets for clothes, had to live out of a suitcase. No canopy on porch for when it rains. Would probably recommend it for people staying a single night, or not interested in the sea, but rather want to lie by the pool in the sun. Disappointing.
We enjoyed it a lot. Als is very nice. You can see that the hotel is a bit old and they struggle to catch up with maintenance, but it was clean and it's by the sea. Everyone was friendly.

Unfortunately, the pool was drained for repairs. However, it was forced so it didn't bother us.
Neat room, but corridors, building badly neglected. Leaking ceilings and broken windows in corridors. No WiFi in rooms, no oven and extremely small rooms. Swimming towels not always available at the pool.
I was happy with the room. However, i booked this venue because of the swimming pool. I was not informed beforehand that the swimming pool was under construction. I paid R2700 per night. because i wanted the swimming pool and i feel that it was worth it based on the swimming pool faciliities. If i had been informed beforehand, i could have made the decision if i still wanted to stay there. Please advise what the recourse is for this. I really do expect some % refund as i was not informed about the construction at all. I would have booked at another time if i was informed of this. Please advise on a % refund.
They were late for our check in and the place was not properly cleaned every day. We ended up cleaning ourselves.

Beautifully located, spacious, clean, neat and tidy interior, delicious Jacuzzis, close to the beach and a beautiful view of the ocean. Close to delicious restaurants, shopping centers and the main road and very close to the airport.
The check-in process was a nightmare, they didn't have my details and kept me waiting for a long time.
The new upgraded hotel has many construction defects and general cleaning short review. Rooms are not cleaned daily due to Covid rules, (which is acceptable) but leave the necessary basic broom and bucket for self hygiene of rooms. The hotel food and cocktails are unpalatable.
The rooms are neglected and in need of repair for sure. Rubbish is on the floor, paint job needs attention, floor was sticky. At least the bedding was clean. Upgrade urgently needed!
For the amount of money spent to stay at this resort, you will be able to get better value for money anywhere else abroad. I do not know why South African companies rip off fellow South African citizens. The staff also has to be taught the basics on friendliness and helpfulness in the tourist industry. At times I was ashamed to be associated as a South African citizen. South African employees must start taking pride in their work in order for South Africa to succeed in the tourist industry market place.
The place is dirty and no service. Room dirty and cutlery dirty, cobwebs under the bed and cockroaches everywhere. The service at the restaurant is extremely pathetic, they let you sit and only when you ask when will they help you will the excuse be "sorry we forgot about you." Cutlery at restaurant was dirty.

Would prefer a unit closer to the beach though - there were units open. Hotel is busy with maintenance and they are restocking throughout the day. Our unit was very neatly repainted and new. However, there is no pan to bake eggs in or an egg spatula, otherwise everything was convenient and clean.

The porter who received us was very friendly and that was the last friendly face we saw. The room was dirty, we asked that they come and clean which helped, but as we checked in at 6 pm, this should have been done earlier. We had to ask for tea and coffee sachets in the room as it was not restocked, the towels had not been replaced and no tea towels either. Everything had to be asked for. The WiFi is too weak to use in the room and they only provide 100 MB per day and then sell more at an inflated price. Choose other accommodation if you need WiFi!!! We also did not support the restaurant in the hotel as we preferred to drive to a restaurant that provided good WiFi free of charge. Staff at reception only did the mere basic and unwilling to do more. We had to ask for beach towels, they weren’t offered. The tea with biscuits around the pool area at 11:00 daily was nice. The whole place was pretty deserted while we were there. The beach is close to the hotel and okay to swim and relax. Good location. It didn’t feel safe to walk on the boardwalk at night around the hotel, it is also very poorly lit.
The view of the sea was very beautiful. We stayed on the 3rd floor with balcony. The hotel is beautiful with friendly staff. The newly remodeled units are very nice and tidy. Make sure when booking that you get a new unit. The old units' bathrooms are really awful.
We always enjoy a holiday at La Montagne and keep going back. It is a very convenient resort with everything at your disposal. It's always a wonderful experience!
This is our second visit. The rooms have been upgraded since our last visit. We had a nice stay and the room was clean and tidy. We literally walked out the door across the path and we were on the beach. The meals were very reasonably priced and delicious. Will definitely go again.

My husband and I travel a lot and for the daily rate we found the standard of accommodation lacking. Bathroom needs serious updating and bedside lamps were dodgy as you had to fiddle with the wiring to get the lamp to work. There was very limited stock of coffee etc. and we had to request milk as there was none. The unit we got also did not match the photos and sea views displayed on the website at the time of booking. Cleaners are extremely noisy down the hall ways early in the morning, also shouting for some reason. It was however very handy for us that there was luggage storage facilities where we could leave our luggage while still enjoying Ballito before flying out in the evening.
I didn't want to go home after our stay. We sat and watched the waves from our room all day long!

We stayed in a neat, clean unit with a beautiful sea view which is about a 5 minute walk from the beach.
Accommodation is standard but the bathrooms are a mess. The tub/shower in the unit is a total mess! Water leaks all over the floor, very small and uncomfortable, no ventilation. Would really suggest they improve the unit. Furthermore, it is a very nice place.
Overall we were satisfied with the stay. They are making improvements but it didn't affect us. We had to change rooms for the last night which was not very convenient.
La Montagne is not as clean as I would have liked. There was hair in the shower and on the bedmats. We booked 2 nights and had to move to another unit after one evening because they had another booking for the unit we stayed in. So we could not pack out and relax as we had to live out of our bags. Although La Montagne tried hard, it is the small detail and finishes that a sole owner's institution contains that is absent.
Upon our arrival we were put in a room right next to where they were busy with construction. The noise was so loud from next door we could barely hear each other speak. Construction started at 07:00 in the morning and went on till after 15:00. We spoke to the manager about this who said that they can't put us in another room because we paid for the new refurnished room and there wasn't any other available. We paid the full price of the room and was never notified that we will be living next to a construction site. Only after our 3rd complaint and 3 days later did they move us to another unit. Not a very happy experience.
Be very sure what you get when you book a studio apartment with 'sea view' and 'braai facilities' - limited sea view over pool and restaurant areas and a hot plate for braai - was not our idea. However, an upgrade to a 'preferred sea view' in the front section overlooking the beach, and a gas grill and refurbished interior unit, saved our stay there! Thanks Sandra!
No privacy, guests next to you walk freely up and down the patio when you barbecue or sit on patio. When it rains you cannot barbecue or sit on the patio. We booked and paid for December 2018 for a sea view guest room at the beginning of the year, but were placed in a non sea view guest room. We complained about it at reception twice, but we were told they could not help, fully booked for period.
Arrived there at 14:15, to find a room that had not been moved after previous guests had already left before 10:00 in the morning. Back to reception to report this only to be told check in time is only 3pm (it didn't say so on the website), then offered a new room which wasn't right either. At 16:30 we were then only able to enter the original room no. 307 get. Room definitely needs a revamp, toilet doesn't flush and had to lift the bowl myself to check that water is running in, air conditioning doesn't work properly. Definitely will not be visiting La Montagne again, extremely disappointing to say the least.
We were pleasantly surprised. If I get the opportunity, I'll visit it again! Beautiful views, clean facilities, pleasant staff and excellent restaurants and facilities. Everything was very enjoyable.

We enjoyed the time and the unit was clean and neat. It could be misleading, however, if you see the newer units advertised online and are then given a unit that hasn't yet been renovated.
Nice resort, but pool was being restored. Not much to do for a couple with a 1 year old. Spa was a let down. Room and accommodation was very nice. Very comfortable.

The glass door could unhook and would not lock from the outside and it easily went off track.
Nice stay, except for the people in 500A who smoked so bad that our whole place smelled of smoke. The children had to sleep on the sofa bed, because their room stank from the smoke!
