This little hotel is neat and tidy, and is a great stopover if you're touring the West Coast. It has great views out across the river, and lots of birdlife in the garden.

We had such a nice stay at Laaiplek Hotel, that we have now been there twice during flower time! It really is very good value for money. Room was very nice and tidy every time, also lovely silver clean bedding. Chalets were very comfortably furnished. We were quite surprised! There was even a braai grill and braai tongs! (wood also available). Breakfast is also included in the price. It's a very generous portion and absolutely delicious! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. View on water is beautiful! If you like a rural type of atmosphere, you will find Laaiplek Hotel appealing. Can definitely recommend Laaiplek Hotel.

Food was very good. Service by staff was excellent. In my opinion, they should pay attention to the loud communication by staff - continuously, but especially early morning, late evening and Sunday afternoon.

We were disappointed with our river view rooms, which were overlooking a pub structure and had no clear view of the river. This fact should be communicated to future clients. The staff were pleasant.
Lots of mosquitoes, walls very thin, breakfast was cold but otherwise nice.
For buisnes a d 1 night stay its fine wouldnt stay nore than 2 days and not really a family destination.

We booked a 5 day stay and were very satisfied with accommodation and service. We stayed in the self-catering unit, newly painted and clean and tidy room serviced every day. We were kindly received and had breakfast every morning which was included in the price. The food was top notch and very tasty. The staff were always friendly and helpful and service was very good. We are very satisfied and would recommend it.

Cleanliness of rooms was good. Cleanliness of living area and dining area (floors) not always clean and tidy. Dinner was not prepared as desired.
On arrival we were ignored while the staff divided their tips amongst themselves. I had to ask for a receipt after payment. Bedclothes are stained, kitchen staff go about like starlings until late in the evening, laughing and talking, running around among the guests. We waited 45 minutes for breakfast the next morning.
We didn't sleep there. Appearance at first glance is substandard. The whole place needs attention, everything is old and neglected. Room stinks of smoke. The curtain hooks are out. People don't look at the place. Never again will we consider them! They did not want to refund the deposit. You get a dirty feeling about the place when you walk in.
Friendly welcome. Nice and clean, large room with a veranda overlooking the mountain estuary. Delicious dinner. Delicious breakfast. For our purpose it was perfect.

When we arrived a room with 2 single beds was booked, I don't know if I made the wrong selection but we were immediately moved to a double bed room, and what a nice bed it was.
We really enjoyed our rooms with a view of the boats and working harbor. It was lovely to see so many birds - and even seals playing in the water the next morning. I still dream about the delicious seafood and chips we ate in the hotel's restaurant.
Value for money will definitely go again.
Only spent one night there. Breakfast was included in the price and served outside. Beautiful view of the mouth of the Berg River.

The hotel and room we stayed in needed attention but were clean and tidy. Would have liked a bedside lamp as the fan and light worked together and we couldn't turn the light off as the strings were too short. The reception also needs attention like the rest of the hotel.
Very friendly staff. The fish factory next to the hotel is a bit noisy and the smell of fish hangs in the air all the time. If you just need a place to sleep for your West Coast Route this is a nice place to stay. Very nice view of the harbor. Did not use the restaurant. Seals play in the harbor.
We were so disappointed in the accommodation, there was absolutely nothing to fault with the staff and the food, but oh my, the accommodation was incredibly disappointing. I can't imagine it being classed as a hotel. The bedding was such that I didn't even want to lie on it, I threw a towel over my pillow, and the bedding is too small to fit over the bed, it looked really bad, not hotel like at all . I would not recommend Laaiplek "Hotel" at all, it was a real waste of money. We paid for 3 rooms, in the end they put a mattress in the 2nd room for my son, but unfortunately we couldn't get our money back for the 3rd room.
Peaceful and perfect for a overnight work trip.
It is a very affordable hotel, with friendly and helpful staff. Hotel is very neat and within walking distance of shops. Big lawn to just sit and relax, great restaurant with good quality food.

The DStv is not working and the staff were aware of it. Tiles are broken, several places in the bedroom cover broken tiles with mat. Extremely dangerous. The service at the Moonson Restaurant outside is extremely poor, waiters change and new waiter does not serve at all.
The first morning there was no coffee in our room. The shower was extremely difficult to get to the right temperature. Both nights were noisy, and from early Sunday morning there was shouting on the premises. I have been to the hotel for lunch before, and would definitely recommend it for that. But not for accommodation.

Room was not tidy, there is a lot of noise around you, you don't get any rest in there.
The fact that nothing is said about the sardine factory next door is very wrong. Do not recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely near the beach. Two on-site eateries, no need to drive.
Was also comfortable inviting friends over for dinner, no need to drive anywhere to eat.
Staff very friendly and helpful with check-in. Room and bathroom comfortable and tidy. We could barbecue on the porch which made it even more enjoyable with a view from the porch on the river. They might look at putting in a bigger fridge and a microwave oven in the apartment would be very nice.
The staff were very friendly, but the pictures on the sites are very deceiving as the rooms have no view, they look into a parking lot, there is a foul odour and the stay wasn't pleasant, we left after 1 night.

Well done to the Eigevis Management for excellent service delivery and hospitality at the Laaiplek Hotel. The friendliness of the staff is incredible, going the extra mile to make visitors feel at home. The restaurant offers good value for money with a menu that offers a variety of west coast dishes and more at affordable prices.

The people are so friendly, peaceful and helpful. The experience is refreshing especially when you come from the city. The room has everything you need. And you feel extremely safe. Will visit the hotel again.
Very pleased with accommodation.
Everything happened in slow motion but it was fun. The restaurant can really improve their food quality. Grilled fish was very dry and no one knows what grilled calamari is. Grilled still comes with a batter fried in oil.
The hotel is old but the upgrading is very neatly done, our room was new and the beds and linen were clean and really nice. We had dinner there, the food was nicely prepared and very affordable, nice and cosy with a view of the harbour where the fishermen came in. We will visit again.
Calm atmosphere. Room is clean and tidy. There was a burn mark on the carpet, which we reported, but management was already attending to it. The sliding doors from the bathroom to the outside opened and closed with difficulty and there were grease fingerprints on the sliding bathroom door. Staff could be more attentive when cleaning. The same with cleaning the porch in front of the room. During our stay there it was never swept and cobwebs sat on the table and benches. Food is excellent, but more attention could be paid to training restaurant staff in terms of grooming and presentation. Little things like good nail care, uniform uniforms, opening wine bottles when placed on the table can leave a better impression. Nevertheless, the staff were friendly and prompt throughout. The little foxes wouldn't keep us from going there again, but might bother a more sophisticated guest. The break was necessary and good.
Photos were misleading, as there is a wooden building that now spoils the view. The braai was not there either, which I had arranged beforehand should already be in our room when we booked. They did accommodate us to book in an hour earlier, as we travelled from far. Nice, spacious West Coast feeling room, which was wonderfully cool against the water in the hot day. I do not feel it is fair to charge the full rate using a photo that creates a false impression.
The rooms at the back only have views of the washing lines. Not really equipped for self-catering, rather a room with braai facilities. Even though the bedding was clean and comfortable, the rest of the facilities were limited. The patio was dirty and smelled bad.
Value for money. Will definitely go again.
We stayed there for 5 days and could have stayed much longer! The food is top notch. The service is exceptionally good. The view over the lagoon very beautiful. Most important, however, is the bird life and especially the thousands and thousands of West Coast Cormorants that fly to the sea in their numbers every day and return again in the evening.

Spacious, clean and good service. Insufficient privacy, people walking past your room looking into your room. Too hot to keep everything covered. Restaurant area was then when the notice on Sunday indicated that they would still be open, guests could have been warned.

A few things that attract me as a "tourist" are friendly service, clean accommodation, good food, safe parking and a nice bed to sleep in. I found it all here and can recommend this accommodation to others at any time. Thanks to the Laaiplek Hotel team.
When we first checked in we were given a small, outdated room with two single beds. We then requested a better room with a double bed for my husband and I. It was much better than the first room. The hotel is very noisy, the cleaning staff woke us up very early in the morning going up and down the passages making a noise. You can hear everything going on around you. Lastly the hotel's restaurant is just teriible. We were a group of 10 that went to eat breakfast. No exaggeration, we waited well over an hour for our food. And they served it plate for plate. The last person received her food 30 minutes after the first plate was served. Thus all the food was mostly cold by then. All 10 people complained that they're food was tasteless and extremely oily. Definitely not worth R70 for breakfast! Sorry but this place will not see us again.

I missed a couch. You can't sit outside all the time and you also don't want to sit on your bed all the time. I know space is limited, but next time I will definitely take a few camping chairs.

Very beautiful and peaceful. However, seafood in restaurant is expensive and not very fresh. There is room for improvement.
We had a great time, the hotel is in a great spot, awesome food, and the staff were very friendly. We had 2 issues though. No shampoo in the room, not that that is the end of the world. We went for a day trip and when we got to the hotel at 18:00 and we wanted to eat something they just told us the kitchen was closed. Management decided to close the kitchen at 15:00. But when we first arrived they told us the kitchen stays open till 21:00 so that's what we expected. You would expect management to at least let the guests know if they make such a decision just so they can make other arrangements even though I don't think a hotel should just make such a decision. It's unacceptable. The waiter who served us was very nice and somehow managed to get us the order we wanted. We still had a great time despite this issue.

It was very nice. My wife couldn't sleep on the Friday though, because there was a mouse in the room and I couldn't catch him. I don't want to upset the neighbors, because it was 22:30 already. It was nice otherwise.
Rooms are clean and acceptable. Reception was not the best, seems more like we bothered her. Service in restaurant was not much better, but the food was excellent.

Rooms were clean and serviced daily. Breakfast not included and the breakfast on offer at the restaurant is very overpriced. There was no place to sit in the rooms and we were not made aware of any other facilities in the hotel. We were only able to access the rooms from the restaurant and our sliding door lock was not working. Bed was comfortable with lovely linen and lovely fluffy towels. We had supper at Eigebraai the day we arrived, my husband's steak was lovely and well cooked. I ordered the Cordon Bleu, which was awful! They use a frozen pre-made Cordon Bleu and it was really not nice at all. Overall not a bad little hotel.

There are only a few rooms and they are located very close to the restaurant which opens just before 8 in the morning. The staff wake you up with chatter and the kitchen clinks with cutlery. I got up and went to close the restaurant door, but the noise still came through. The hotel definitely needs an upgrade. No fridge in the rooms. Rooms not clean. Door of toilet taken dirty and dust behind the door which was not swept clean at all in the 3 nights we were there.
Laaiplek Hotel exceeded our expectations. On arrival the factory smell almost caused us to turn back, but luckily we didn't. The hotel and room was beautiful. The service was friendly and the food was delicious and there is no unpleasant smell inside. We enjoyed the boats coming and going.

The smell outside the hotel was very unpleasant due to the fish factory next to the hotel.
The sewer pipe is at the rooms and it started to overflow before the truck could empty it. It was not a very pleasant smell. Apart from that we could not complain about the room.
Laaiplek Hotel has friendly staff. We enjoyed staying in room 4, and will take it again.

Did not know there were such unique places to stay at. Definitely not a city hotel, as you will be treated like more than just an acquaintance. Enjoyed my stay there and would recommend it to anyone traveling in that direction.
I would definitely recommend the Laaiplek Hotel.
Again, the location and extremely good service is exceptional. Unfortunately on arrival at reception we were exposed to a highly intoxicated person stumbling back and forth from the adjacent bar - the receptionist did apologize nicely & offered complimentary coffee. It's 2 stars, but e.g. no coffee available the next morning on coffee tray in room - the restaurant did provide coffee then. Maintenance in the room also lacks attention, the soap in the shower was old used soap, cleaning could improve, etc. But we would love to go again!!
