L'Abondant Vinge is a very pretty place. The house was a bit smaller than we were expecting as we were with our daughter and son-in-law - it is suitable for people with small children. We were a bit taken aback by there being no towels and having to bring blankets.
A gem of a place! Beautiful surroundings! The owner (Johan) was very friendly and made us feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble for him. Will definitely be going back. Less than an hour's drive from Pretoria, definitely worth the travel and every cent!
A great place to just chill.
We were very kindly received in this lovely environment. The murmur of the river, wild flower and grass meadows, birdsong and peaceful farm environment provide unparalleled rest. The mattress ensured a comfortable night's rest. However, I would like to make a few comments that will contribute to a more pleasant experience, especially in a rustic cottage. There is insufficient lighting with the available rechargeable lamps. This makes it difficult to prepare food and also to read. The small lamps by the bed and the bathroom are really weak and none of the lamps were properly charged when we arrived. Necessary with the ever-present loadshedding. The hole in the door, caused by a bedside table for which there is not enough space, is inexcusable. Better quality bed linen is a luxury that comes with only the price. The shower curtains are way too short and as a result the bathroom floor is always wet. The front door does not lock properly and it made me feel unsafe. We enjoyed the time but feel that if attention could be paid to the above it would be great.
Beautiful surroundings, friendly people (and animals). Remember your own towel. Also candles for a nice atmosphere. As cold as you can expect from Heidelberg in the winter, but you have a good time around the stove that warms the stone house nicely.
We went for long walks and enjoyed the peaceful river and quiet. Thanks so much for having us, we'll be back when it warms up a bit.
The sound of the river, the beautiful view, the crackle of the fireplace all work together for a very special getaway. The perfect place for a wedding anniversary.
The cottages are located in the most beautiful surroundings - it is fairytale beautiful. It is equipped with everything you need, and is comfortable and clean. The owner is hospitable and very helpful. There is absolutely nothing one cannot be positive or impressed about. In the evening you lie and listen to the river that passes right by the house, really special.
We will definitely go again, if you are on MTN, there is very little signal! But you're not looking for phones, tablets or any other gadgets here! Unspoiled natural beauty, a good delightful experience. If you like camping type expeditions, but are airy of a tent or sensitive to safety risks, then this is the ideal place to be. It is only about 20 kilometers from Heidelberg and very easily and quickly accessible from both Pretoria and Johannesburg area!
We had a very pleasant stay in the cottage. The house was clean and neat. The owner communicated well about the time of arrival and gave us directions how to get there. Kind and friendly.
Great place to get away for a weekend. Close to Johannesburg, which is always great.
The sound of the river was all that we heard over our 3 day stay - the location is thoroughly peaceful and relaxing! The accommodation is more than comfortable and very clean. The stone cottage allows for a cool experience even in the hot summer months. The view from the patio is of a gorgeous landscape and river and there is abundant birdlife. Lovely places to walk on the farm and very hospitable owners. Will definitely be returning soon (hopefully in winter to experience the gorgeous open fireplace!).
