It was a pleasant experience and would definitely stay there again. Good beds, linen etc. The "old" building creates a unique atmosphere and is truly Free State.
Aside from blocked drains and sewerage leaking up into the shower, the bedding was poor quality (thin lumpy duvet on the main bed, 1 blanket only on one single bed, 1 thin cover on the other single bed with a tiny, thin blanket). An old, stained dishtowel in the kitchen with very watered-down washing liquid. One-third of a toilet roll provided. The person who checked us in knew nothing about the advertised hiking trail (which is why we had chosen the place). Wifi is not available at the cottage, which is not mentioned. On the positive side, we were offered a shower in the main house and the main house looked really nice. It is nicely set on the golf course so we could walk there. We were a late booking.
The facilities were neat and clean. Staff and owner very friendly. Felt like we were visiting friends. Had a delicious breakfast. Will definitely only stay at Heritage House if I'm there again. The sandstone building is typical of the Eastern Free State.

Daphne is a great host and gave me a warm welcome (even though I got there later than I said due to roadworks). They kept me up to date with the loadshedding. The rooms were very tasteful and clean. I had a lovely stay. Unfortunately didn't have breakfast.

Heritage House is by far one of the most wonderful places I have stayed at. Not only is the accommodation exquisite, but the historical content is absolutely fantastic. Don and Charne are both brilliant hosts providing not only good service but also, great company. My favourite part of my stays is hearing the many stories about the development of Heritage House and the surrounding town. The atmosphere is so comfortable, that whenever I return, I feel as if I'm coming home.

Spacious premises with rural background, in my mind's I eye I see riders with their Martini Henries, like a school residence with wide corridors and high ceiliings, spacious dining room with table cloths arranged in a diamond pattern with a snooker table next door, view from the front door green and rural with the Maluti Mountains in the background, braai area under the white stinkwood that reaches out to the blue heavens, cellphone order from Ficksburg of beet and carrot salad and "braaibroodjies" in the afternoon was very handy also the available cutlery and braai equipment, good location rrelative to provincial roads. I reached the place like homing pigeon, that spread its wings before landing on the roof of the cage. What a surprise! We will definitley stay at Lady Heritage House again.
