Our stay was fantastic. Penny the host was so friendly, it was an absolute pleasure meeting her. The unit has everything you need and more; it is beautifully furnished and very private. It felt like there was no one else nearby. The hot tub was great and heated for us prior to arrival by the host. The winter weather did not impact our stay whatsoever as the hot tub is covered, and the unit offers an indoor braai. The farm and views were beautiful. What you see on the website is exactly what you get! We will certainly be back!
We were at Lank-Gawag Cottages for the long weekend where we really enjoyed it. Penny welcomed us and explained everything we needed to know. She even treated us to a bottle of champagne to make the weekend extra special. Everything was neat and everything you would need was available in the place. We could also have taken our two dogs with us and gone for a walk with them on the farm. It is very beautiful and quiet there with no one bothering you. There were also games for us to play and she left enough wood for us to make a nice fire and use te kol-kol. We will definitely go back again for a weekend.
We rested and relaxed wonderfully. The hostess was excellent.
Penny is very hospitable and friendly. We immediately felt at home. Our trip was in the winter and she specially warmed the hot spot before our arrival. The place is very clean and tidy. We will definitely want to stay there again!
It was super awesome breaking away with no electricity, no cellphone comms, and just being, and, of course, the hot tub. The kids enjoyed it. We will certainly return.
Beautiful scenery. Was very relaxing and quiet. We enjoyed the weekend. We did have an issue with the gas geyser. The water wouldn't stay warm for longer than 2 minutes, which made it very hard to shower. The hosts did try to fix it; however, they couldn't get it right. Overall experience 9 out of 10. If the shower had worked, 10 out of 10. Note: Take your own swimming towels as only 2 bath towels are provided. Wood bought from the farm also doesn't keep hot or make many coals to braai. Would suggest taking your own.
Absolutely wonderful stay. This is our second time in 2 months and we will definitely go again.
We had an amazing 6 days at the accommodation. No electricity, nice and quiet and secluded. Just enough mobile phone and internet to quickly deal with the few things that can't wait. The hot tub was excellent and the best we have come across. In 6 weeks we are staying at another place - would have preferred to be at the first place again for the quiet and seclusion as the other place is not as secluded as the first place but still looking forward to it.

It was nice, different, no electricity and it was pleasant in the dark with minimal light and the stars clearly visible. The silence at night is wonderful if you come from the city. We never felt unsafe and the hostess was very helpful and hospitable. Everything we needed was there.
Penny was very friendly and the cottage very spacious and perfect for a weekend away from the busy city life. We enjoyed the silence of farm life and the simplicity that comes with it. Would definitely recommend and book again!

I enjoyed the stay in the rustic Nektarien cottage. Stunning setting with lots of space for your kids or pets to roam. Communication from the host was excellent and with a very quick response time.

Long-awaited is a gem in the Karoo! The wide veranda is ideal for guests to barbecue or to sit back and look out over the fields and mountains. It is not for guests who want electric luxury. There is solar power, but the natural beauty and peace amply compensates for this.
It was wonderfully quiet on the farm. Could switch off nicely. The whole family enjoyed it.
We had a great stay at Lank-gewag Cottages. Penny went out of her way to accommodate us after we changed arrangements. Our children (6 & 3) really enjoyed the "hot tub".
Place is very nice neat and clean. The "rustic look" is quite appropriate for the place. I would recommend that guests charge all your electronics ahead of time. We didn't know that there wasn't a solar panel where you could charge mobile phones. You can do it at the pump house which is a short distance from the cottage. We didn't feel comfortable with that. The dog children really enjoyed our walks between the fruit orchards. For the big braaiers, note there is no braai bowl. (Luckily we always take one with us). We didn't find the bed very comfortable, but for the next guy it might be ok. But other than that, it's a really cool place, and the average guy will enjoy it a lot.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We loved the cottage, which had a rustic yet trendy shabby chic style. The extras (olive oil, balsamic vinegar, etc.) were much appreciated, as well as the excellent Montagu Muskadel. If you are looking for peace, quiet, privacy, and relaxation in a beautiful setting, then Lank-gewag Cottages will tick all the boxes. The woodfired hot pool was a big highlight that made our stay special.

Friendly farm hospitality from the owner. The bed we used was comfortable, and we had a peaceful two nights' sleep. Dry firewood was available on the farm.
Ideal getaway destination.
Completely secluded and located in the middle of a farm, a great escape to completely switch off/chill. Nice hot tub and is close enough to the town, so lots to do during the day.
It is a lovely break from the hectic city life. People are very friendly. The KolKol is delicious on the cold evenings. Very nice, peaceful atmosphere.
It's a small house, but it feels so spacious. The hot tub is fantastic if you just know how to get the fire going nicely (it took us an hour to figure it out). I can't wait to stay there again. The photos are accurate, but they cannot capture the charm of the place.
What a great getaway if you just want to rest and forget about everyone and everything around you. Although it has no power, it lacks nothing. You are surrounded by natural beauty and the most beautiful sunrise. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
This cottage was perfect for just the two of us, but can even fit two more people in there with a nice braai area and KolKol where you can enjoy the beautiful view.
Service was very good. Had such a small problem with the gas cabinet, but it was sorted out quickly the next morning. They are busy with another homestead. I can't wait for it to finish. Would like to visit this farm again.

Romantic Jacuzzi. Cozy indoor grill. Montagu muscadel. Jacuzzi takes about 4 hours from turning on the tap to deliciously hot.
It is a perfect getaway for a family. Everything needed is there. Will definitely come again!
It was the perfect place to slip away from society in one's own bubble. Penny was incredibly hospitable and furnished us with everything we needed, so that you wouldn't even notice there was no electricity. You will definitely see us again in the future!
Some of the cutlery and kitchen utensils were rusty and others weren't washed properly, so we had to it wash ourselves. I liked the mix of old and modern, makes the cottage cosy and comfortable. Absolutely loved that we could braai inside! Christine was really friendly and helpful, even borrowed us her bread pot and got us ice, much appreciated. Took some time getting used to the shower, unless we missed something. Hot tub is also a fun task figuring out, how to control the temperature etc.
Peaceful silence to recharge your soul. Kids get a break from electronics, adults get a break from daily life. Perfect setting for family bonding. I wouldn't recommend cooking serious meals indoor as the kitchen isn't very equipped; braai, braai, braai, while you "baai" in the hot tub. The owners are the nicest people you could meet.

The cottage is perfect for getting out of the city or even town. Located in the middle of the vineyards with the most beautiful view of the mountains. The environment is cold in the winter, but the cottage has a nice indoor braai and fire warms the cold winter that much warmer. Very nice cozy place in the most beautiful surroundings.
Good starting point for Route 62 if you don't want to stay in villages or guesthouses. Gas and LED lanterns worked adequately.
Everything was just right! We did not miss anything (from the kitchen equipment, bedding and lights). The tranquility of the stone walls, orchards, valley and mountains floated into our hearts. Great weekend away, might want to trade this little house for my everyday home! Penny, we're going to visit again!

Long-awaited Lodge was pure treat. On the menu was soul rest and recharging of inner batteries. We didn't want to go back home. The fact that there is no electricity, as well as the wood-fired hot tub, is part of the charm of this beautiful place. The cottage is perfectly situated amongst the fruit orchard which makes it very private. Long-awaited Lodge is definitely one of our favorite places and will be visiting again in the near future.
