Loved the little cottage. It had everything I needed and some thoughtful extras (flask, hot water bottles, fruit, homemade rusks and muesli). Great views from the stoep and I loved walking through the apple blossoms.
Beautiful farm in the Elgin Valley. Our dog was welcome which was a big bonus. The hostess was so helpful and friendly. All information about the area was in the cottage and there is a coffee shop with breakfast and lunch on the farm. Lavender Cottage is the place to stay when visiting the Elgin Valley.
A short but sweet stay. The cottage’s personal touches and lovely decor made for a very comfortable and enjoyable time for us. The kitchen also had everything we needed to do basic self-catering. I absolutely loved all the little gardens and enjoyed all the roses behind our cottage. Lots of farm roads to walk and explore and the farm cafe is beautiful!
Friendly owners and prompt service and communication just made this stunning location 10x better for us. We will definitely come back to the beauty of Grabouw.

Libertas House worked perfectly for our group of 4 couples. Each couple has their own space (including their own bathroom which makes such a difference) and then there are the lounge, kitchen, dining area, front & back patios where everyone can be together. The house has faded French country charm and sure, it does need some maintenance sooner rather than later, but we loved it. The setting on an apple farm is just gorgeous too.
We were there for 1 night for a wedding and the accommodation was okay. Our only observation was the level of cleanliness and the attention to detail - magazines from 2019, bathroom shower walls and door were dirty, as well as the bathroom mirror. It could be lovely.
The surroundings and farm are beautiful. However, the cottage was dirty with cobwebs and mold everywhere. Even the curtains in the room were full of mold as well as some of the pots and pans. And then there is the audacity to ask for a tip to be left for the cleaners! This after I had already paid an extra cash fee for extra "cleaning" because I brought a dog with me (the cottages advertise that they are pet friendly). There were also rats/mice in the ceiling. The shower kept dripping and the bed is uncomfortable.
Clean, tidy and fully equipped. Karin is very hospitable and helpful. One feels at home.
The feeling of a cottage between hills, surrounded by orchards of apple trees! For 2 people, just the place to get away to enjoy silence and nature. Beautiful and welcoming!
A beautiful farm and farmhouse to enjoy your weekend! The hosts went above and beyond to accommodate us and the cafe situated on the farm is spectacular. Definitely worth a visit and we will certainly return to the accommodation in the future.
With the current load shedding, the only comment would be to replace the electric stove with a gas stove and kettle to go on the gas hob.

The cottage is very cosy with a teeny-tiny kitchen area but we had everything we needed, and the setting amongst the apple orchards was just magic - I would definitely recommend it.
Simple, but all one needs and fits perfectly with the environment. Lovely fireplace and hot shower. Got enough wood for braai or fireplace. Great sleep and dead quiet with a nice porch to look over the valley. Pretty close to paddock if you need anything.
Host was gracious to assist with lead for power. Beautiful views. Lots of wood for fire. However no gas burner, so could not even make coffee when loadshedding.
There was a fine new restaurant nearby.

Bad weather, poor communication and information that did not fully reach me before arrival soured the relationship right from the start. I don't believe the place is suitable for families with small children. Rather young married or retired.
The cottage was disappointing. Farmstyle yes, but dirty cups and the decor was as if you've traveled to 1920. Very small, felt claustrophobic inside and the double bed was too small for my hubby - his legs were out the bottom, not to mention uncomfortable. The hostess mentioned that they have great security, nothing to worry about and then in the documents in the room they advise to set the alarm because they have ''had some incidents in the area". I could not sleep because you try to set the alarm with a remote but you don't know if it is on because there is no indication inside the house, no confirmation beeps either. When checking in and out we tried to phone Karin to answer the door but her phone was off both times, but hey, at least there was warm water in the tiny shower. Would not recommend.

The surroundings are wonderful and the location of these cottages is perfect to take advantage of the beautiful views of the valley and the tranquility of the apple orchards. There is a wonderful restaurant on the farm and many other options for wine tasting and dining in the area. The house itself is very nice and tidy with all the amenities one would need for a weekend getaway. It is not a luxury home with DStv and internet, but rather a farmhouse with only the basic amenities and a fireplace to let you switch off properly from the city's hustle and bustle. Wonderful place.

Lavender Cottages offer a great balance, rich in natural beauty that provides tranquility for the soul and a pulse of excitement with all that is available to do in the area. Karin's communication was fantastic and she was very helpful, from information about the area to help when the geyser gave trouble, 1,2,3. then it was sorted out, with an upgrade. Will go back again for sure.
Lavender Cottage was exactly what we were 'looking' for. A really beautiful place to stay. We loved every bit of it.
Cozy cottage with wood provided. We needed it as it rained a lot. Our dogs enjoyed it too. Took along our own down duvet as it was cold in August! Will definitely go back again. Lovely host Karin!
The farm is beautiful, lots of space for our dog to run around. The cottage is a bit old but still nice to stay in for a weekend.

A thoughtful gesture of leaving a fan or two in the cottage before we arrived would have been appreciated, given the unusal heatwave. A resident rat made for a disturbing night of little sleep. We moved to the room with the twin beds to get away from the noise. . Lots of attention is paid to the rules, alarm system and security, while a similar attention to detail could be applied to keeping the cottage in great condition to match its lovely surroundings. . While this cottage can accommodate a family of four, it is not really suited to two adult couples sharing, unless they are very comfortable and easy with each other in fairly small spaces, and a single bathroom dominated by a very large plant.

Excellent service from our hostess. Plekkie is beautiful and with basic equipment for accommodation. Our 10-month-old baby, who just started walking, was able to play happily on the lawn, and our wool baby explored the place to his heart's content without any danger or restriction. Looking forward to our next visit.
The view over the valley is beautiful and so peaceful in stunning natural surroundings. Cottage is neat with a cosy fireplace in the winter. Lovely sunny braai area. From there is a beautiful dam with a deck for a nice picnic. The cottage is very safe and a must for a nice getaway.
A great weekend break!
It's a very, very small cottage, but just big enough for a weekend getaway to get away from technology - there's no internet, poor signal, and an analog television that will soon have to be turned off. The kitchen is very small and only pretty big enough for one person at a time, so I think the idea is to eat out at the surrounding farms or even the new Deli on the farm. Still, we managed to cook and the kitchen is well equipped enough to roll out a Christmas dinner. The mini fridge is small, so frequent shopping adventures are necessary. The rest of the house is comfortably furnished and there is everything that is needed, but after a week the place started to feel particularly small. We were 3 adults, but I think a family with kids would do better in the long run. We took our dog with us and confirmed before we went that the cottage is fully fenced as you can't see it very well in the photos. Unfortunately the porch is open on both sides and the 'fence' will only be able to hold a horse. So we recommend that you feel free to take your dog with you if he is friendly (not like ours), can get along with the other farm dogs (not like ours), and listens when people call him (again, not like ours). It is indeed a beautiful farm and lovely to walk around between the apple and pear orchards. But we feel that the space and amenities do not justify the price over the Christmas season.
The fireplace with enough firewood for our 3 day stay was very welcome in the cold, wet weather and the silence with only bird sounds to disturb it was blissful!
Enjoyed the experience and the setting very much. Lots to do and see in the Elgin area for all ages of the family. Being a working apple farm it isn't as quiet as other country escapes we've had, but it's to be expected.
